Custom ROM with best battery life - OnePlus Nord Questions & Answers

Hi there.. I have been using Op Nord for 6 months now. It was a great phone until the recent update. Battery life is literally crap right now. Before this, my phone could last until 10-11 pm daily with around 15-20% of battery left.
With this latest update, oos 11.1.1.2, it can't even last to 6 pm. Similar apps, similar usage patterns.
I'm thinking of flashing a custom ROM and there seem to be a ton of ROMs available. Can anyone recommend the best rom in terms of battery life?
I have done my search and can't seem to find a decent answer anywhere.
Thank you very much.
P.s: If you are gonna tell me to do a search first before posting, don't bother commenting.
Thank you

Kernel focused on battery duration, which one?

Hi there, despite this topic I'll like to know users experiences with kernel on the Nexus5 since I'm looking for one based on battery duration. See I tested n3oHammer, franco and ElementalX from this three the best was n3oHammer but in recent Cyanogenmod updates it stop working so I'll need to change since Cyanogenmod kernel drain battery to fast, any advice? Any configuration on any kernel to get this battery duration?
PS: Sorry for ask this since it's prohibited but I need some advice on this topic

In my personal opinion I would run Chaos Kernel: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2551441
Comes with NXT app to tweak it. You could easily change the clock, voltage, governor, and other things in combination with screen brightness, Gravity Box's smart radio and a few other things to achieve maximum battery life. I am not a fan of CM never was never will be.
I personally could care less about battery life as long as I get through the day doing what I need to do when I need to do it. I don't do all the little things to prolong battery life. If I made it through the day and had 50% left well I would have to charge it because the next day it would die and who knows if I would use it more or less.

So you admit that you know these threads aren't allowed yet you post it anyways? That's going to go over well.
OP, as you know these threads are prohibited and will be closed. Best advice I can give you is try a few out and see which best suits your needs. Battery life depends greatly on which apps you run and your overall usage, both of which vary per user.

Best rom for the S6? (From a battery perspective)

Hi
What is the best rom from a battery perspective right now and how much will it increase battery life? Right now I get 3-4 hours on 4g and 5-7 hours on Wifi on stock, rooted with greenify. Will a lite rom help even more on battery? Also, which would you say is the best right now and why?
Thanks in advance
Questions like these(best rom bla bla) are not tolerated every rom here is a result of hardwork and efforts from devs which are all unique in their own ways, would suggest you to try and use what you like.

Why aren't questions like this "tolerated"?

You won't notice a difference in battery life from Stock to custom, except maybe a decrease due to wake bugs maybe.
Your battery life is pretty good.
Rule of thumb, ROM's might allude to having better battery life than others, but they almost certainly do not.

Well no idea either. I asked what the best rom was from a BATTERY perspective. Some are for speed, others battery and some features.
I fully understand they're all hard work.

Uhmm... The community? Well as far as I see now there is no such issue's in the Galaxy S6 forums, I come from the Galaxy S2 community where any similar questions(literally anything that started with BEST ROM...) are flamed by other members and occasionally outright locked or removed by the moderator's.
I myself never had an issue with those kind off question though.

The question is pretty much not answerable for a number of reasons.
People get different results due to how they use their phones and what software the load and run on the same ROM, and to answer your question someone would have had tried all the available roms for enough time to form an opinion.
Lastly, this is a general S6 forum so people here are using all kinds of different variants of the S6 making the comparison even less likey.
I have a stock rooted ROM and am quite pleased with the battery usage on it, YMMV.

Based on what? Reaching 8+ hours SOT? If no, then the answer for now is XtreStoLite.
In theory, the lightest ROM with the least amount of bloatware may extend your battery life. But in reality, phone usage is the main culprit of battery life. I have tried different ROMs with my old S3 trying to extend its battery life. But in the end my efforts are in vain as I put too much work for a very little gain of less than 30 mins. This also applies to the S6. Modifying usage (i.e. turning wifi/bluetooth when not in use, working with dimmer screen, etc...), buying extra battery or powerbanks and chargers for charging on the go and anywhere all did the trick of preventing phone usage interruption due to a drained battery.

Best Battery Rom?

Hi all, I'm really sorry to start up yet another "which rom is the best for (...)" thread, but I've been struggling to pluck out a thread that conclusively answers the question and is up to date. As per the title, I'm wondering which rom will provide the longest battery life for my Xt1033
Let me set the story straight, I use my OnePlus One day to day. However, I also own a Moto G, and am planning to take this with me on my trip to India. While I'm there I'm going to be in plenty of rural areas/trekking, and will likely lack power for 2 weeks before return to Nainital and power. I'm taking some power banks with me, but having a good idea as to which rom provides the best longevity in terms of battery life would also be really helpful. I leave in 11 days and don't think I'll really get a great chance to try a plethora of roms before I go.
I'd probably prefer a Marshmallow or Lollipop rom, but if there's a Kit Kat one that'll last substantially longer I'm open to that as well
Thanks :good: :fingers-crossed:

I've never seen a proper comparison thread, but for a long time a Stock ROM with a custom Kernel would provide the best battery-life. That may no longer be the case as AOSP / CM ROMs have developed. I personally only use Optimized Stock ROMs.

This still holds true (at least for M7). I was running a CM based ROM and battery was ok but nothing spectacular, recently I switched to ARHD 93.0 and wow is my battery better. Hoping that elemental x can make it even better

Android P Beta Battery Life?

Hey guys.
I've done a quick search from the XDA app and I'm not really able to find any specific details on this topic.
Currently running 5.1.9 with xXx rom and Franco Kernel, which means I'm getting spoilt for battery life with around 7+ hrs SOT!
The info that I've been able to find on Android P for OP6 generally seems to indicate around 2.5hrs SOT.
For anyone using the latest beta, can you please share your battery life? Whether it be screenshots or general experience?
The latest beta seems to be pretty stable, but this is the last thing that's stopping me from taking the plunge!
Also, from the research that I've done, custom kernels seem to work with the beta but it breaks wifi? Is this true or am I way off?
Thanks in advance
For me it's not as good as 5.1.9 with Franco or Flash kernel, but not as bad as 2.5hrs SOT, more like 5 or 6 but with a worse idle drain. I'm with xXx module, viper and I spend way too much time on Youtube...
But if I was you, I'd wait for the next preview since Google pushed the last one beta 10 days ago.
The battery life is bad on p compared to 5.1.9
.. Been running it for almost 2 weeks here. I get around 4-5 hours on p while I used to get around 6-7 on oreo

Oh true I didn't think about the new one.
In saying that I'm quiet impatient ?
5 or 6 is way better than I was expecting though!
Thanks for the replies!
For me battery life on Android P has been amazing, running it since 2 weeks now. SOT from 5 to 7 hrs. Clean flashed.

Yeah I don't have an exact comparison between 5.1.9 and DP4 beta 3, but i would say it's almost the same.
Don't feel a big difference.
Edit: did a clean flash too.
Great thanks guys!
Anyone know about the kernel situation?

Root and custom ROM/kernel or not!?

Hey i got the Pixel 3 and now i'm thinking about rooting my Pixel 3. If there are some ROMs or kernels that maybe are better for battery life than stock android 9?
Guys can you recommend some ROMs or kernels?
Thank you!
As will always be the case, no one can really answer as your usage situation will be different. Run stock at first, with root, and use better battery stats to see what your usage is. I am on DU rom and battery is ok, but I have one social media app that is always running. I can make it though the day though, so not bothered.
