Hey guys.
I've done a quick search from the XDA app and I'm not really able to find any specific details on this topic.
Currently running 5.1.9 with xXx rom and Franco Kernel, which means I'm getting spoilt for battery life with around 7+ hrs SOT!
The info that I've been able to find on Android P for OP6 generally seems to indicate around 2.5hrs SOT.
For anyone using the latest beta, can you please share your battery life? Whether it be screenshots or general experience?
The latest beta seems to be pretty stable, but this is the last thing that's stopping me from taking the plunge!
Also, from the research that I've done, custom kernels seem to work with the beta but it breaks wifi? Is this true or am I way off?
Thanks in advance
For me it's not as good as 5.1.9 with Franco or Flash kernel, but not as bad as 2.5hrs SOT, more like 5 or 6 but with a worse idle drain. I'm with xXx module, viper and I spend way too much time on Youtube...
But if I was you, I'd wait for the next preview since Google pushed the last one beta 10 days ago.
The battery life is bad on p compared to 5.1.9
.. Been running it for almost 2 weeks here. I get around 4-5 hours on p while I used to get around 6-7 on oreo

Oh true I didn't think about the new one.
In saying that I'm quiet impatient ?
5 or 6 is way better than I was expecting though!
Thanks for the replies!
For me battery life on Android P has been amazing, running it since 2 weeks now. SOT from 5 to 7 hrs. Clean flashed.

Yeah I don't have an exact comparison between 5.1.9 and DP4 beta 3, but i would say it's almost the same.
Don't feel a big difference.
Edit: did a clean flash too.
Great thanks guys!
Anyone know about the kernel situation?

I am going to get a Nexus S tomorrow, AND AS SOON AS I GET IT...BOOM! I Am gonna root it It has always been my favourite phone in terms of everything. Today over the net I read many complaints, about the Ram issue and the Battery issue after upgrade to Jellybean! Guys, can you suggest what would be the best Rom that would fix both the issues! I wanna play Hd games like NFS:MW, backstab, but I also want my battery to last atleast 10-11 hours! Help Me!
Carbon ROM is the best for daily usage...
GamerzROM is good for gaming..
Both, Marmite and devil's kernel are good for battery life...
However, Marmite kernel has a little better battery life compared to devil's better gaming

Thanks mate! You are using the Carbon Rom and the Marmite Kernel. how is the performance, I would rather listen to music max. 1-2hours a day, I surf the web very less, Have you tried playing any HD game with your config? and btw how much ram are you getting free bro? enuf to play a game, I mean it wont close down all of a sudden would it? and lastly I dnt always wanna play, just at times! not a hardcore gamer!
I don't think you'll be able to do any serious gaming on the nexus s. It just doesn't have the power to run a lot of those HD games. Hell it sometimes has trouble with temple run 2. As for the 10-11 battery life.... Unless you use an extended battery or don't touch your phone, your gonna find it difficult However the unofficial Carbon ROM (17th April one, there's a link to it floating round) with Marmite 8.5 bigmem is the fastest I've found, pretty much faultless in normal use. Helly bean, which comes with Devil kernel is really good as well, altho slightly slower for me YMMV. have fun with your new phone

Well, thanks for the info, can you please help me by provinding the Link for the unooficial Carbon Rom you mentioned? and also I am not into that much gaming, I have seen NFS:MW work great on it, Happy with it and other small games, Enough for Show off and I do listen to music, so how much battery backup do you get?
And Hell Yeah! I surely have no complaints abt the phone! Its been 2years since its release, and if I bought it now, you surely know I must have something for it
and Mine has Upgraded to JB, I am giving the first charge for 7-8 hours, lets see how much battery do I get
http://goo.im/devs/Gingo21/Carbon/Crespo/CARBON-JB-EXP-17AVRIL2013-161548-crespo.zip
Here's the link to the unofficial carbon. My battery life is about 10-12 hours of not much use. That's airplane mode for 6 hours, 2 hours listening to music, and 2 hours browsing, the rest in my pocket. That's about 2 hours onscreen time, with no overclocking (my phone can't take it).
I have run the battery down to 0 in about 3 hours, constantly browsing on WiFi. My phone does have a "new" OEM battery tho, my battery life was even worse with the one that had been used for 2 years. BTW these "best ROM/kernel threads" are usually closed. I think there's a rule against it. Just flash a bunch of different ROMs and find which is best for you. Every phone is different.

my battery life is that bad? Wow I didn't realise... That WiFi figure was literally constant use, screen on for all of it, opening and closing apps and 75% brightness.
But yeah I'm about a couple hours behind you on just about everything, with similar usage. Damn. I think I'll have to try Jellyshot out again. I can barely reach 3 hours on screen

I have a 1 year old pixel 128gb.
I am getting terrible battery life of 3 hrs SOT on stock rom (unrooted). I know battery life subjective to how we use the phone. But i dont play games or any heavy work. Very less usage of phone.
Please advise me a custom ROM which has better battery life like atleast 4 -4.5 hrs SOT. Or else tell me that whether all pixel ROMs have same battery life.
Are you in LTE, or 1x/3g area? Perhaps your signal is weak and phone is draining trying to find the signal.
If that's the case, no custom rom would help that I don't think, its a service issue at that point.

I am on lte only......i have tested the mobile without sim card also.........battery backup is low SOT is around 3.5 hrs
I think some problem with battery or some stock rom issue.
Please tell me what is your SOT
same problem, any solution on XDA available?
I'm in the same boat, but from what I'm reading I'm probably just gonna have to install a new battery as the batteries tend to die out around 18-24 months. I know mine was bought new when the phone first came out in October 2016. So I'm looking into that route. ifixit has a guide up on how to replace it.
**FireHound**
You can try FireHound ROM. I am pretty satisfied with the non-gaming performance and SOT.

how much SOT? can u post screenshot
thanks in advance
good thread, I want to jump into a custom rom for this reason also but not sure which to go for.
Personally I prefer running Dirty Unicorns. This is a screenshot I took right now. I've been watching series, video chatting and browsing the web and youtubeing today. So with straight usage I usually get 6 hours of SOT. On a normal day (20 hours of usage gives me around 4,5 hours of SOT). I have also flashed Flash kernel and running it on stock settings. Screen brightness is around 20% most of the time and when I'm outdoor I use high brightness mode when needed. I don't use battery saving mode but I'm sure if I use that when the battery percentage gets low and if I use the smart pixel feature that DU offers then I could probably get out more SOT. The rom I'm using can be found on the discord channel on my signature. A new build will be posted this weekend, usually on Saturdays by shagbag913.

Probably cut down an hour on SOT on stock. Flash Kernel does a lot though. So I would say stock + flash kernel gave me better SOT than only stock. DU + flash kernel gives me more. It all depends on usage. I don't game but does consider my usage pretty average.

I haven't tried all kernels. The only one I have tried is Flash kernel and it gives you a bit more SOT as opposed to stock. Other kernels have more stuff that you could manually tweak and flash kernel keeps it simple and works great right out of the box.

Why not use beta? It's fine for me. Literally everyone say bad battery life after an update. Perhaps give it some time.
There is a new version avaiable.
The changelog does not tell much more than a new security patch (June 2019).
Maybe we can find some little goodies anyway.

dont know for little goodies but camera in night mode is still broken (still ****y noise on picture using night mode), i dont know why they even calling that **** "night mode" when it is useless, i know lot of guys say use gcam, im using but still that doesn't means xiaomi doesnt need to fix that.
last 2 updates this issue is present...im really starting to hate xiaomi bcs of software support.
It looks like xiaomi devs working only on pocophone and still can't fix anything on poco also

In my daily use (18 h = 16 wi-fi and 2 4G), my SOT it's between 5 - 5,5 h.
10.3.4.0 feels more smoother and brightness sensor is less lazy.
Is anyone having any weak signal issues with this rom ? I went from RessurectionRemix to this via MiFlash and I get very weak or no signal in places where i had good signal previously.
No root and i don't want to root as the online banking applications i have to use complain about the phone being rooted
Yes, it's my feeling that signal is weeker than on previous ver
Which version worked best for you, signal wise? I saw people were having problems with 10.2.2.0 and i'd downgrade to something with better signal. Would that mean prior to 10.2.2.0 or is there something more recent that works ok?
I was only using 10.3.3.0
Hi there.. I have been using Op Nord for 6 months now. It was a great phone until the recent update. Battery life is literally crap right now. Before this, my phone could last until 10-11 pm daily with around 15-20% of battery left.
With this latest update, oos 11.1.1.2, it can't even last to 6 pm. Similar apps, similar usage patterns.
I'm thinking of flashing a custom ROM and there seem to be a ton of ROMs available. Can anyone recommend the best rom in terms of battery life?
I have done my search and can't seem to find a decent answer anywhere.
Thank you very much.
P.s: If you are gonna tell me to do a search first before posting, don't bother commenting.
