Best Kernel for MIUI 9.6.4? (Better battery Life) - Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro Guides, News, & Discussion

I've been seeing people with insane 9-10 Hour SOT but I barely get 6-7. Not saying that's bad but I don't play any games so I know it could get better. Can anybody help me out? Much appreciated.

Check this I'm getting good battery life in 9.6.4
Charge your phone from 0 to 100% and then use it till battery reaches below 10%
Now from next charging cycle you will get good Battery life

Why not use beta? It's fine for me. Literally everyone say bad battery life after an update. Perhaps give it some time.

Best Rom\Kernel Combo for SOT and Performance?! POST PICS!

Hey guys … we've had quite a bit of development in a very short amount of time since release. There are some very talented developers out there and a dedicated number of people making our already great phone even better.
So, I was curious to see at this point what Rom\Kernel Combo everybody is running to get the most out of the battery while maintaining performance!
Sound off on which rom\kernel combo you're using and post battery life screenshots if you have them!
Thank you to the developers that make this happen, we couldn't have gotten here without you!
I guess there is only one stable rom xXx

SOT varies and depends on your usage.
Xxx+cleanslate
If you want a balanced kernel with a really good battery life, you should go with franco kernel. I achieved very good stand by and screen on time, even on the currently battrry-buggy OxygenOS 5.1.8. And if you want a light customizable ROM with quiet a few goodies, go with Renovate 3.2.

I know its subjective but it gives a pretty general idea of the rom\kernel combo.
Thanks!

Is that stock options with Franco?
If I pick up my phone and use it all day in bed when I'm under the weather or when I'm home for the day with nothing to do I can get 7 hours of screen on time with constant usage at half brightness. When I am at work and have the phone with me and do a little gps etc I can get about 6 hours. It all depends on your usage and also your cell signal. The worse your signal is the faster it drains the battery. The more GPS you use the faster your battery dies. It doesn't matter which kernel I am running, (I'm currently on stock 5.1.8 with Magisk, Xposed & ElementalX) battery life is pretty much the same.

if you won't stop to believe that rom and kernel are responsible for SOT and standby drain you will never be able to 99.9 control and manage your battery usage.
it's all in user space as long as there is no know battery hog (know bug) in either rom or kernel.

I get 6hrs+ SOT using stock OOS 5.1.8 + Frankenkernel.

Best battery saving kernel?

I'm looking for a kernel to use that will net me the longest battery life and idle times. Would love to hear people opinions/experience with kernels and kernel settings.
Please share settings and any info on how you achieved such good battery life
I will probably get yelled at by someone for this but, most battery savings is in what apps you have installed and how bad there are requesting wake locks. For me. I use flash kernel because he takes upstream updates to kernel.
For me the "Advance Battery Optimization" did the trick!
In combination with Francisco Franco Kernel, my battery life jumped
two folds. And of course as mentioned, it does depend on apps installed
and your habits.
I personally prefer Smurf kernal. For me and my usage, it's given me a great balance of performance and battery life. But it all depends on your apps and usage. Everyone is going to have different results using the same kernal. Too many variables to differentiate getting the same results as others.

Averaging between 5-9 hours. Really depends on usage, what apps I have installed. Even how hot it is outside effects it.

I did just switch kernals to give the new radioactive Kernal a try

which is Best battery & speed rom/kernel

I'm looking for someway to get best battery backup with good screen on time without compromising phone speed (mainly for multitasking and app open times)
Thanks in advance
I've had good luck using the Smurf kernel with the battery spectrum profile on Havoc Oreo.
I'm going to upgrade to Havoc ? with Smurf's new ? kernel this weekend as the issue with screen off battery drain has supposedly been fixed.

According to Accubattery (awesome app BTW), I'm averaging about 10hrs (discharging 10%/hr) screen-on time and about 115hrs 35mins (discharging 0.9%/hr) screen-off time.

I should also mention that I use Greenify religiously. I also have it running as a privileged app (always root mode) via the Magisk module.
I can recommend Radioactive Kernel
Can't go wrong with any of them.
My personal experience says EX kernel, Blu(more battery focused), or Radioactive.
I use EX personally since I've had history with it before and trust it the most.

Best battery rom and kernel

I'm on liquid remix. Tried greenify, titanium freezing and couple of things but nothing seems to work. Battery drains with 5hour sot and around 10 hour standby. It's the same case with other couple of custom roms. Kindly help me I'm what's best rom and Kernel for battery. I want only battery on priority
I'm in stock, rooted. Franco kernel, battery mode. Dark theme everything on substratum and get around 7/8hs SOT.

Idle time?
Tried alot. For battery is say OOS.
I constantly get 7 to 9 hours screen on with my usage over 36 hours to 48 hours in-between charge.
I use this debloat script: https://forum.xda-developers.com/on...l-tomatot-debloater-basic-script-to-t3869427/
And I'm testing this kernel atm. Happy with it.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-6/development/kernel-renderzenith-op6-t-t3883994
I think I used all kernels on XDA and tested them for around 7 days, all are good I have to say. About same performance and battery. Features are user dependent so look for the one that you feel like will fit your needs.
Stock OOS is the best for battery performance. I think the only one that got close to rivaling it is treskmod. I could be wrong on the treskmod part but OOS for sure is the best for battery.
Kernel is largely preference. All kernels here I tested were amazing. Focusing purely on battery I would say Bluspark, Smurf(battery profile), and Render are the best. Franco is also there too but I haven't seen him update his kernel in a while now and there's a vocal few reporting camera issues with his kernel.

In my opinion the best kernel is smurfkernel, great performance and battery life 8h SOT.

Check the OP of Smurf it explains it. Easiest way would be the spectrum app.
OOS with RenderZenith for me
OOS with Elemental kernel at around 6hours of SOT with around 36 hours without charge.
Although I think the Rom is more important for the good battery life.

Hi everyone,
End of the story.
If you want very good battery life. Stay on stock. I'm very happy to share my battery screenshot.
No custom ROM no custom kernel giving better battery than stock oos. I tried even so called better battery friendly kernels and omni ROM (omni has been said better battery ROM than stock).

Majority of the thread said stock OOS. But I guess some like to see for themselves.
I have the same setup as you plus xXx. Getting great battery life not to mention the performance of it. Probably going to replace EX for daily driver duty. Burned through 50% of the battery with 4 hours SoT so far. Think I've found my winner; not going to switch to anything else anymore.

Fastest and more stable ROM?

If I'm looking for a lightweight and stable ROM that improves my battery life (this one is very important), which one is the best?
I don't care about extra features and customization. I just want stability, smooth experience and battery life.
No choice
Stock rom!

Official Lineage 17 is pretty good. Smooth and most importantly STABLE.
4h+ SOT from a full charge on (underclocked) ElementalX.
BlissRom for sure, 5h sot from full charge on stock kernel. Stable, ota updates and lots of features
If you have an european pixel, you need to flash the special kernel, otherwise no sound in calls

You don't need a guide, it's all in the ElementalX zip
Flash in TWRP and the installer will start automatically, there you can select the max frequencies for the little and big clusters.

Those estimations totally depend on usage, but in my experience it would last a day, with below 10% left at the end of the day. So the battery does not offer a usage time anything better than average.
