Xiaomi Redmi Note 8T only Edge no 4G anymore - General Questions and Answers

I don't know what else to do without returning the phone under warranty or doing a hard reset first to see if that fixes the problem. I bought a Xiaomi Redmi Note 8T in July 2020 and the phone can only connect to a 2G network (Edge's E is at the top instead of 4G in one). I have not changed anything and am afraid that it is broken in my mobile if possible. I am using the Google products and not the installed Mi products, I have Android 10 with Miui 12.0.3 (the last one).
What I've already tried: I've been in contact with T-Mobile because my son has the exact same phone and subscription. It does have 4G just like I did before. All settings are the same, in terms of T-mobile server, preference for LTE networks is set, etc. In the Settings everything is the same. According to T-mobile, there are no problems with the network. I have done another system update (to Miui 12.0.3). Mobile data turned on and off. Airplane mode and reboot and back on. APN reset and then phone started did not help either. When selecting network automatically, I turned off and manually search, but then the mobile only finds 2G networks.
Then a clear moment and see if it is the SIM card, so my SIM card in my husband's iPhone and yes it just indicated connected to 4G. Then my husband's SIM card in my Xiaomi and then it only indicated E again. With my son Xiaomi have done the same but again 4G on his and with his SIM card Edge in my phone again. So I'm sure it's the problem with my phone. Who else knows what I can do? I will try after a hard reset the same Edge network will still remains or if 4G works again. All responses welcome!
I think that there is something wrong with the GSM module because I tried *#*#4636#*#* and then tried several settings but it still give Edge even if I force the network to LTE only. If I give in LTE only it says: IWLAN no roaming, only emergency calls.

Nexus 5 was on R+ CDMA - Now ST SIM gives no signal

When I go into the settings for Mobile networks at the bottom where it says System select it says change the CDMA roaming mode. the problem is I reset the phone and it now has a ST AT&T SIM card in it. Why does it still think it is CDMA?

Same exact thing happened to me. When I was researching the problem I came across this thread. The phone was showing no signal and then suddenly it received a SMS message saying my phone was ready to use. I rebooted it and it's fine, full signal. To people experiencing this, I suggesting waiting for about an hour and maybe your phone will cure itself too.

Nexus 5 not registering on T-mobile Network

Phone's Settings read
Mobile Network Type- Unknown
Service State- Out of Service
Mobile Network State- Disconnected
My IMEI still shows up and I can connect to WIFI and bluetooth. The only problem is I can't get a signal, not 2G or 3G (even LTE)
This started happening out of nowhere, I tried taking out the sim, factory resetting, wiping caches, changing the APNs, restarting the phone, and I even put the sim in a new phone (It got signal).
If anyone has any ideas I'm all ears! What's the point of this amazing phone if I can't call people with it?
How long did you have the phone before this happened? Did you dial *#*#4636#*#* to check the phone info and change the network type?
I had a similar issue, but I think mine was a lot worse due to a dirty flash. I ended up having to do a fastboot recovery to restore it to factory.

What service are you with? I had this same exact issue a week ago with an LG G2. My Sim card would work in my Nexus 5 but wouldn't work in the G2.
After numerous factory resets I eventually called Metro PCS (my carrier) and I was told that whenever I put my Sim Card into a new phone I must always contact them and give them the new IMEI # so that the phone can work.
The Metro PCS rep claimed that they have a feature that disables the Sim from working in an unauthorized phone. I guess its to help with theft.

Hi, were you able to fix your issue? I am having the same exact issue and have done all troubleshooting I can do on my own but still nothing works.
If you have a method of fixing this please share.
Thanks,

I know this is really OLD!!!!
but i just had the same issue today
with a NEXUS 5 running stock marshmallo 6.0.1 with the latest patches
, and yes... is not the phone is the carrier
MetroPCS do IMEI lookup
i had another phone before the NEXUS 5
so it is no just matter of swapping the SIM card from one phone to the other
you need to call CS and you told them that your phone is not registering on the network
and that you just swapped phones
So they ask you for the IMEI of the "new" phone
and your SIM card #
you reboot your cell
and VOILA!
now the phone registers in the network
Yes, Metro do IMEI authentication

[Q] 3G not working

My new Honor 6 H60-L02 doesn't seem to have a data connection. The telephoning/messaging works well, but when I am out of wifi range, and want to use the internet, the message I get is 'no network connection'.
Any help appreciated.
Sorted!!
It was my sim card settings, OK now.
Which settings you mean? I've got the same problem on h06-l04 and did everything like deleting the APN, tested APNs from other providers etc. - nothing helped. The SIM shows h+ and h all the time, but when I try to open a site or try to update my apps over google play the connection works a few seconds up to a minute and then the connection got lost again. It never happened on my galaxy s2.
I used the APN settings on my sim card providers web site and they worked perfectly. If I am not in a wifi zone the phone switches to h+ and performs very well.
3g not working
So my new huawei honor 6 is not supporting 3g. It only shows edge connection. How to sort this out? Please help.

What model do u have? H01, H11 - won't support Euro 3G, thay are only for China. H02 and H12 - should work fine with 3g. H04 - Should work fine with 3g and 4g in your country.
Also please check if your carier provides 3g service.

3G/4G issue
I'm also having the same issue with my Honor 6+ which i bought last month from dubai. I'm trying to use data connection using 3G/4G in india as i'm residing in India, but even after following all the required settings that are provided by my service provider and the other trouble shooting steps i'm still no where. It always displays the 3G/4G icon at the top but never works. I doubt if it is something to do with the software/firmware version. Please suggest.
I'm also having the same issue with my Honor 6+ which i bought last month from Malaysia and using in Bangladesh. I tried airplane mode on and off, it shows 3G for few moment or minutes but then again it becomes edge mode. Please help me out from this problem.. thanks in advance..
I live in India and I bought my Honor six plus online from a local retailer, and my phone can only access 2G data (or EDGE, apparently ) which is too slow to support anything. At first, I thought it was a sim card issue but I tried using the same sim in someone else's phone and that person's phone had no such problem. Even my brother's Iphone faced nothing of the sort. Any one know how to fix this?
Check on the back of the phone for phone number. On my honor 6, on the back on the lower part are 2 lines with text. on the second line I have found my phone model: H60-L2, in my case. Then you can check with, for example, http://willmyphonework.net/ if your phone model will work in your country. I know for example that my phone model will not allow 4G in all European countries.
If you prove that your phone is working in your country than its a matter of settings. You can try:
- Place the sim card with a data plan on the main sim tray. Honor 6 not rooted and running stable ROM will allow data only on the first tray. In Settings -> Dual Card Sim Management you can see which card is in which tray. If necessary switch the sim cards into the other tray.
- Check your settings and here the most important one is the APN. Make sure that the settings of your operator are correctly set in order to have mobile connection.
Generally the 3G network should at least be recognized, so if your phone is not registering with a 3G network then either it is not hardware compatible or you have placed your SIM in the wrong tray. Most probably is the first option and what you can do is to change the phone...
Man...i was having the same problem...well just 2 mins back!??
I have marshmallow update...and wat my problem was that the apn was set, though correctly, but in upper amd lower case....
And it seems apns are case sensitive...so check it!
Honor 6x is my latest mobile, which i bought a week before, it's seems like the mobile having data connection problems. till i'm using 4G sims but i'm not getting at least 2g speed, most of the time i'm not getting internet connections. at the same time it's showing H and H+ symbols ...
if possible, someone pls help me here.

GS7 (G930U) with Freedompop, cannot get LTE connection.

I have been battling with this no LTE case for this Galaxy S7, BYOD. This is the official US unlocked version, and works with Sprint (on their whitelist), furthermore, my wife has the same phone rocking LTE with FP right now (BYOD as well, so on sprint network), so it's compatible with FP's service.
My understanding for FP byod (based on previous exp) is that if the phone was activated on Sprint network before, the MEID and the ICCID info is stored together, so even if BYOD process only ask for MEID, as long as you have the previous activated SIM, the ICCID info get carried together, so you normally would have no problem getting LTE.
This Phone was never activated on Sprint before, so when I first activated it BYOD, so no previous SIM info, but I plugged in a compatible SIM that was activated on Sprint network before (with another MEID though). My initial activation had problem (red bar on my account summary), had to email customer service to add this ICCID. Phone passed the hands free activation and all. No problem using the fp apps, phone, sms, cellular network worked (only 3G).
I then started to do all kinds of reset trying to get LTE connection. I have done,
1.##72786# carrier reset
2. Restore APN setting to default, clear cache, reboot
3. Matching all the LTE related parameter with a known LTE connected phone (my wife's GS7)
4. factory reset
5.Deactivate and then reactivate the GS7 (by swapping devices between two fp accounts)
Now almost three months now, I'm still facing the same issue. FP customer service has been helpful doing the routine checks, but not beyond the suggestion of PRL update/reactivation. The final solution they offered was to deactivate the account and the activate the GS7 with another byod account. I did this just today, by swapping another device in this account, and then reactivate the GS7 to that account.
My very first concern is if the ICCID info has been accurate (not missing or mistaken a digit), but I asked them to verify this at least three times, nothing came back as error.
Compared to my wife's same GS7 with fp, my phone is rather slow to establish the 3G mobile data connection, for example, her phone would almost show LTE instaneously after a reboot, but my phone would be at least after a min to show the 3g icon.
Can someone share some insights on what else I could do? I just could not think of anything else from my phone side to do. A note worthy thing is, when I helped BYOD my wife's GS7, I was in the same boat of needing to add ICCID via customer service to pass HFA, and then all the reset to get the LTE. I actually wasn't able to get LTE connection by what I did, shut off the phone with 3G connection, but next morning I turned on the phone, LTE was there. Along with me, I saw multiple users who had similar no-LTE problem report they were getting LTE same day.

Sprint HTC U11 unlocked but not working properly with T-Mobile

So I recently bought a Sprint HTC U11 off ebay, and at first it didn't work at all with my T-Mobile SIM, all it showed was a full strength signal with a capital R next to the signal bar. I called Sprint and they confirmed it's unlocked, although they said it may still be tied in some way to the original owners account, which could potentially cause problems.
I managed to get it working on LTE, by going into testing mode (*#*#4636#*#*) and setting the network to CDMA/LTE only, but with this setting I can only use Data, no Calls or Text. It is also has Sprint as the provider instead of T-Mobile, and I can't switch on VoLTE (greyed out in the Testing menu).
I tested it with some of the other settings, but anything that turns on GSM makes it glitch out, connect for only a few seconds to either T-Mobile or U.S Cellular (a provider I automatically roam on where I live), and then disconnect and refuse to reconnect to anything until I switch back to CDMA/LTE and reboot.
Is this a common problem with the Sprint version of this phone? Are there any fixes for it? The phone is currently not rooted or modified in any way, and is running Android 8.0, Software version 2.33.651.10.
Thanks for any help.
