Sprint HTC U11 unlocked but not working properly with T-Mobile - HTC U11 Questions & Answers

So I recently bought a Sprint HTC U11 off ebay, and at first it didn't work at all with my T-Mobile SIM, all it showed was a full strength signal with a capital R next to the signal bar. I called Sprint and they confirmed it's unlocked, although they said it may still be tied in some way to the original owners account, which could potentially cause problems.
I managed to get it working on LTE, by going into testing mode (*#*#4636#*#*) and setting the network to CDMA/LTE only, but with this setting I can only use Data, no Calls or Text. It is also has Sprint as the provider instead of T-Mobile, and I can't switch on VoLTE (greyed out in the Testing menu).
I tested it with some of the other settings, but anything that turns on GSM makes it glitch out, connect for only a few seconds to either T-Mobile or U.S Cellular (a provider I automatically roam on where I live), and then disconnect and refuse to reconnect to anything until I switch back to CDMA/LTE and reboot.
Is this a common problem with the Sprint version of this phone? Are there any fixes for it? The phone is currently not rooted or modified in any way, and is running Android 8.0, Software version 2.33.651.10.
Thanks for any help.

[Q] Calls not coming in on inspire with tmobile service

I have an inspire that I use on Tmobile. The probem I have is my calls are not coming in. I have the data turned off. I have to keep calling tmobile to correct the issue. I was told today that the issue is my phone will not stay conencted to the network. I got the unlock code from ATT before starting service with tmobile. Any assistance is greatly appreciated. I have been looking for three days on this issue and have not found anything.
thanks
have you started using your tmobile sim card and not the ATT one? also you will need the tmobile apn configurations.
http://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-1979
Yes I updated to the APN codes that Tmobile gave me but it seems like the calls come through for a few minutes after turning the phone off and back on.
you also need to turn off 3g and 4g as those are not supported by the inspire. (uses different frequency ranges that the inspire doesnt have) so turn on 'use 2g only networks'
menu->settings->wireless and networks -> mobile networks
and also make sure youve deleted any non tmobile apns. (not trying to insult just covering all the basics)
I dont have an option to use 2g only. I was looking for that. I am new to having an unlocked phone so I am not sure of what to do. Tmobile jsut said the only thing i can do is turn the phone off and on throughout the day in order for it work. I am just checking because that seems to be too much work just to use the phone.
dial *#*#4636#*#* and go to phone information and scroll down to set preferred network, change it to GSM ONLY
it really sounds like its working, but then its trying to connect to higher networks as in when u first connect u watch to go from Edge to 3G then to 4G
Thanks for all your help. That did not work as well. I powered off and on. It is still not ringing. Looks like I will have to invest in a tmobile phone.

[Q] Lost data connection, trying to determine cause

I have the Sensation 4G, S-Off, using the Official SlimKat build 8.0-WEEKLY-6966, and I'm using the T-Mobile SIM through Straight Talk. I haven't had any problem with the phone or data connectivity before, I just had to scour the internet for the proper APN settings after buying the phone. That was a couple years ago.
I still have the ability to call and text, just no data connectivity. There are seven APNs available under "Settings", and when I switch to any of the others the phone picks up 3G/4G signals. I just can't connect to them since they're for different carriers like Metro PCS, T-Mobile, and Walmart Mobile. The signal disappears when I switch back to my carrier's APN. According to Straight Talk Support I'm not being blocked and I haven't gone over the 3GB monthly limit.
I'm going to T-Mobile tomorrow to see if anyone there will try their SIM in my phone to confirm the radio is still working.
My only other thought is that the problem is somehow software related. I haven't done anything other than update a few apps, but I didn't notice the problem until it arose the next day. It's been like this since Sunday.
Thoughts?

CyanogenMod 12.1 - D850 - No LTE

I seem unable to get LTE on my D850 since I installed CM12.1 and was wondering if this is common for this ROM. I installed the nightly, so I assume its obviously going to be a bit buggy, but to not have LTE working seems strange.
I checked my APN and I tried both ATT LTE and ATT Phone. The ATT LTE gives me a status bar with an exclamation point and never establishes a data connection and ATT Phone gives me HSPA connectivity. At one time, I waited a few hours and it eventually established LTE but that was an uncommon occurrence and its never been repeated since.
With other ROMs I have not seen this issue replicated. I tested on Cyanide L, Euphoria, and the Stock LG ROM and everything worked fine. Any suggestions?
Hey there,
I'm running CyanideL myself, love this ROM.
Which nightly version are you using?
Have you checked that Mobile Networks --> Preferred network type.... is set to LTE?
Have you tried toggling to 3G, getting a connection, then moving back to LTE?
I also have this problem. Has a solution been found?
I just ditched the stock ROM and installed CM12.1 a few days ago. Now LTE has disappeared. I had it, now can't get it. I'm not able to select LTE in the settings→Mobile networks→Preferred network type menu, nor can I select any option that includes LTE in the test menu (*#*#4636#*#*). It's probably some stupid user error, but whatever it is has been eluding me for a day of messing with it.
Presently running cm-12.1-20150804-NIGHTLY-d850.

Interesting...
Have you tried restoring your stock ROM and seeing if it will connect? How about a SIM card pull?

Thanks for the reply. I have not tried returning to the stock ROM. I just got all my apps reinstalled and data restored, widgets installed, screens set up, etc., so I'm not too keen on doing all that again so soon.
I have tried a chicken SIM card pull. I was somewhat fearful of doing a pull "hot" as is usually suggested. I powered down, removed the SIM card, and restarted. After restart, I was able to select LTE in the settings→Mobile networks→Preferred network type menu, and the test menu confirmed that LTE/GSM auto was the preferred network type.
I then powered down, re-installed the SIM, and restarted. After restart the preferred network type had been reset to 3G and I was (am) unable to select LTE.
My conclusion is that this is something to do with the Net10 SIM I'm using. I've ordered a new SIM from Net10. The Net10 rep says a new SIM may fix things. One is on it's way and should be here in a few days. I'll post the result.
[SOLVED]
My new "LTE capable" Net10 SIM arrived today. I had Net10 customer service transfer my service to the new SIM. Now I have LTE; I'm able to select LTE in the Settings→Mobile_Networks→Preferred_Network_Type menu, LTE appears in the CM12.1 status bar, and I'm able to make a solid LTE connection.
I will here piece together everything I've learned from my own experience, Net10 customer support, and internet searching. My conclusion is that there are TWO compounding problems for Tracfone/Net10/StraightTalk users. One is techhnical and the other is marketing.
The technical issue is that all Net10 (also Tracfone and Straight Talk) AT&T SIMs sold up to a couple of months ago don't work with LTE on the AT&T network. That's most of the AT&T SIMs from these companies out there in the world today. This is not widely known – in fact, most of the Net10/TF/ST customer service reps are not aware of it. It's not something that Tracfone and its subsidiaries want known because it would cost them a bundle replacing SIM cards for unhappy customers. If you have a Net10/TF/ST SIM that's more than a few months old, you have to call Net10/TF/ST and buy another new one that's compatible with AT&T LTE if you want LTE service.
So, why don't more Net10/TF/ST AT&T users raise a fuss and demand LTE capable SIMs? That brings us to the marketing issue.
AT&T lies. So do Tracfone and its subsidiaries. AT&T markets its HSPA+ 3G service as 4G when it's not. In fact, the AT&T stock ROMs that most people are using lie. The stock ROMs display 4G or sometimes 4GLTE (depending on ROM version) in the status bar when in fact it's a HSPA+ connection; not 4G let alone LTE. So users cruise along using their old SIM cards happily thinking they have 4G or LTE connections when in fact they do not; and they're none the wiser. It's only more sophisticated users who flash a 3rd party ROM, one that doesn't lie, who figure it out.

Issues on T-Mobile

Recently purchased the Xperia Z5 (E6653) and I am having some serious issues with calls on T-Mobile USA.
Calls don't dial out (or it takes multiple tries) and calls won't come in when the phone is connected to 4g (LTE); they go straight to Voicemail. I missed about 12 phone calls yesterday - just getting voicemail after vaoicemail till I realized something was wrong on my side. If I toggle off the LTE it drops to Edge (no HSPA+) and calls come in fast and outgoing calls are made with no problem.
I tried to reset the phone, then repair the software with the Sony Companion app. Still same issue. Looked online for the APN settings. Tried various ones. Re-downloaded the Internet/MMS via the phone itself. Same issue. Tried my wife's sim and it was still doing the same. I have a spare 5s and it worked fine both incoming and outgoing calls. So, it doesn't seem like its the sim card.
I have Rev 2 of this phone so I am not sure if that is anything to be concerned about. Am I missing something...any help on this would be appreciated.
Thanks.
Maybe flash a T-mobile firmware with flashtool?
Or Flash 209 firmware meant for usa?
Or wait for someone here that use this phone on T-mobile.
Are you on band 12 LTE by chance
No, it said band 2 with LTE Discovery. I am on the verge of sending it back. Swap it for another one. Let's see.
From what I have gathered/read - it should really be straight forward. Pop in sim, load Internet settings, and it should work on T-Mobile. The APN settings are correct.
Doesn't makes sense for it to completely not work on 4g and go to 2G (Edge) while skipping 3g. I'm wondering if the baseband might just be wonky. I just see this as causing more problems down the road which I don't want from a $520 device.
Any advice is welcome because I am ordering the same phone again. Lemons are always possible.
Could it be possible because I live a relatively rural area (East TN) and the phone does not support AWS? Since it doesn't support T-Mobile VoLTE and doesn't have AWS it is defaulting to 2G? Is this an issue in all areas or just rural? Apparently the E6683 variant doesn't have this problem as it supports AWS.
Check this http://www.xperiablog.net/2015/10/07/usa-buyers-guide-sony-xperia-z5/
That means ur phone should work fine with T-mobile,maybe go and get a replacement from where you bought it.

GS7 (G930U) with Freedompop, cannot get LTE connection.

I have been battling with this no LTE case for this Galaxy S7, BYOD. This is the official US unlocked version, and works with Sprint (on their whitelist), furthermore, my wife has the same phone rocking LTE with FP right now (BYOD as well, so on sprint network), so it's compatible with FP's service.
My understanding for FP byod (based on previous exp) is that if the phone was activated on Sprint network before, the MEID and the ICCID info is stored together, so even if BYOD process only ask for MEID, as long as you have the previous activated SIM, the ICCID info get carried together, so you normally would have no problem getting LTE.
This Phone was never activated on Sprint before, so when I first activated it BYOD, so no previous SIM info, but I plugged in a compatible SIM that was activated on Sprint network before (with another MEID though). My initial activation had problem (red bar on my account summary), had to email customer service to add this ICCID. Phone passed the hands free activation and all. No problem using the fp apps, phone, sms, cellular network worked (only 3G).
I then started to do all kinds of reset trying to get LTE connection. I have done,
1.##72786# carrier reset
2. Restore APN setting to default, clear cache, reboot
3. Matching all the LTE related parameter with a known LTE connected phone (my wife's GS7)
4. factory reset
5.Deactivate and then reactivate the GS7 (by swapping devices between two fp accounts)
Now almost three months now, I'm still facing the same issue. FP customer service has been helpful doing the routine checks, but not beyond the suggestion of PRL update/reactivation. The final solution they offered was to deactivate the account and the activate the GS7 with another byod account. I did this just today, by swapping another device in this account, and then reactivate the GS7 to that account.
My very first concern is if the ICCID info has been accurate (not missing or mistaken a digit), but I asked them to verify this at least three times, nothing came back as error.
Compared to my wife's same GS7 with fp, my phone is rather slow to establish the 3G mobile data connection, for example, her phone would almost show LTE instaneously after a reboot, but my phone would be at least after a min to show the 3g icon.
Can someone share some insights on what else I could do? I just could not think of anything else from my phone side to do. A note worthy thing is, when I helped BYOD my wife's GS7, I was in the same boat of needing to add ICCID via customer service to pass HFA, and then all the reset to get the LTE. I actually wasn't able to get LTE connection by what I did, shut off the phone with 3G connection, but next morning I turned on the phone, LTE was there. Along with me, I saw multiple users who had similar no-LTE problem report they were getting LTE same day.
