[Q] Lost data connection, trying to determine cause - HTC Sensation

I have the Sensation 4G, S-Off, using the Official SlimKat build 8.0-WEEKLY-6966, and I'm using the T-Mobile SIM through Straight Talk. I haven't had any problem with the phone or data connectivity before, I just had to scour the internet for the proper APN settings after buying the phone. That was a couple years ago.
I still have the ability to call and text, just no data connectivity. There are seven APNs available under "Settings", and when I switch to any of the others the phone picks up 3G/4G signals. I just can't connect to them since they're for different carriers like Metro PCS, T-Mobile, and Walmart Mobile. The signal disappears when I switch back to my carrier's APN. According to Straight Talk Support I'm not being blocked and I haven't gone over the 3GB monthly limit.
I'm going to T-Mobile tomorrow to see if anyone there will try their SIM in my phone to confirm the radio is still working.
My only other thought is that the problem is somehow software related. I haven't done anything other than update a few apps, but I didn't notice the problem until it arose the next day. It's been like this since Sunday.
Thoughts?

[Q] Fried Radio? How to Test?

My MyTouch 4G slide has been sitting for a month or two after previously working fine. Now it powers up however it can't get a signal with my T-mobile SIM (or my wife's). I'm concerned that somehow the radio might have gotten fried. So far I've reflashed it back to stock, unrooted, and hard reset it a few times, nothing has worked.
If I go into Wireless & Networks, drop down to Mobile Networks, Then Network Operators, and "Search Networks", it takes a few moments and finds AT&T & T-Mobile (I'm in an area where my devices normally get full T-Mobile service). However when I try to connect to T-Mobile, I get a message saying "Your SIM card does not allow a connection to this network". Same SIM works fine in a G2, connected to T-Mobile.
Anyone have a way to test the phone radio, or perhaps have an idea on what it's issue is?
I have had this exact problem, and attempted the same solutions, but without success. Was working fine, and then 1hr later quit working and was not able to repair even after return to stock/deroot, etc. Doing warranted return, and just got replacement phone by mail for swap out from t-mo.
am a little worried about reroot and rerom in case I have another problem.
My device is doing the same thing. Not sure when it started... I havent used the MT4GS in a few weeks, picked it up and reset it back to stock everything, and it's not getting any service from any of my SIM cards. I unlocked it a while ago to use on AT&T prepaid SIM, and not even that will work... Any advice would be helpful...

I've used Z-Device Test by Zausan Innovacion Tecnologica to test just about everything on my phone.
I'm having a similar issue on mine after trying jupoeanutbear and failing. I have signal but data craps out at random times now.

[Q] LG MS910 ZVD to ZVE update lost data service

First allow me to say that I wish my first post was not a question, but a helpful comment to someone who needs it...yet trouble has found me and I can't seem to figure this out on my own and really need someone who has the skills and experience.
I know the phone is OLD and should be retired as it is nearing the EOL of its' technology, but I just can't afford to spend the money on a new one right now.
History of the phone is:
Bought new in late 2011, carrier Metro PCS, rooted on the second day of ownership.
Rom'd on the third day with GSE, used that for a while then went over to Black Plague.
Used phone this way for the entire time.
Always kept drivers installed on my Windows PC, 7x64.
A little over a week ago I had some driver issue which caused me to re-download the drivers. After I re-installed them I connected the phone and ran the LGMST. It brought me from the ZVD to ZVE without incident.
Phone has not had data service since.
I phoned Metro PCS distributor help line at 800 901 6266 and spoke to someone who tried to help a bit. They did an OTA push then had me try to re-provision the phone with the *228, no go...
I checked through the web for help, reading many posts about APNs, using Any Cut, located my access pin for the service menu. (didn't make any changes for fear of making things worse)
Then I brought the rooted phone into a Metro store I frequent and asked one of the associates who does this stuff on the side to help me out. He spent about fifteen minutes with the phone and told me he couldn't figure out why it wasn't working.
When I got home, I emailed PG about the issue hoping he could offer some advice. He told me to try TOT downgrading. He provided a few links and I set out to DG with TOT.
The LGNPST didn't install. (received error code 2203) tried a couple other downloads of the LGNPST but all fail with the same error. (I am admin, took ownership of files, edited security of folders as described in some forums from Microsoft about the error code and even tried letting windows install with compatibility settings, but darn thing just won't install)
I then figured I'd try un-rooting and a factory reset. t un-rooted fine and reset to stock, but still not an iota of data 4g,3g, or 1g to be found. (everything else works fine)
I then re-rooted the phone and tried L-Drifta's rom for ZVD Number Two.
It installed fine and works good, except for YouTube force closing all the time, but still no data service.
Does anyone have any idea what happened to this phone? If not, then how about someone helping out with how to manually program the radio part of the phone for service.
Thanks to everyone
CDMA Only selected
Update - - -
So I mustered up the nerve to mess with the network settings in the Metro hidden menu and changed it from CDMA & LTE Hybrid mode to CDMA only and have 3G back, but when I change it to LTE or keep it in Hybrid Mode I loose all data service.
I know I shouldn't keep playing around with the settings, but I just can't leave it alone now that I made some progress. It's like a gnat that I gotta keep swatting until it is gone for good.
Anyone have suggestions for getting my 4G service back?
LG MS910 losing 4G and switching to 3G then no data at all!
Device: LG MS910
Carrier: MetroPCS
Issue: No data
I have a cardinal rule with my phone: "Never use WiFi". WiFi networks are bay nature unsecure. I went to Starbucks and decided to connect to WiFi since I only had 1 bar. The area had poor network coverage.
Now my phone starts in 4G, goes to 3G, then no data after that. 5 minutes later the 3G returns. Data speeds are ZERO!
I've been with Metro long enough to know 1xRTT is faster than ZERO data. Did I get an sms trojan? Is MetroPCS messing with the network with no notification to customers?
For data, the LG MS910 has CDMA (1XRTT, EDVO) and LTE (4GLTE) radios. Why is the 3G icon appearing? The LG MS910 on MetroPCS technically isn't capable of T-Mobile's HSPA+ which uses a GSM signal. Regardless if T-Mobile and MetroPCS have merged, T-Mobile is a GSM carrier and therefore MetroPCS customers wouldn't benefit from T-Mobile's HSPA+ network anyway.
Bottom line: Something isn't right. Any ideas?
Anxiously awaiting the bloatwarefree Nexus 5.

[Q] OPO not connecting to mobile data

Long time lurker, first time post. I am running a stock OPO 64gb with stock CM 4.4.4 on USA T-Mobile with unlimited data + int'l data. *Short version, OPO not connecting to data /MMS international & USA.
While in USA/WA, my mobile data was working fine. I crossed the border to Canada and my phone connected to Canada Rogers, but I was not getting mobile data or MMS. Voice and text were working. After calling T-Mobile several times, they "reset" their network settings to remedy, but still no fix. I had friends w/ me on T-Mobile branded phones, they had LTE / 4G on Canada Rogers. Internet browser said: ERR INTERNET DISCONNECTED.
I crossed the border from CAN to USA/WA, and my phone was still connected to Canada Rogers. I reboot my phone, and I only get T-Mobile voice and text; no data and no MMS. Called T-Mo again, and no fix.
I return home, swap SIM card from OPO to Nexus 5, and voilà! Getting LTE and MMS. Swap SIM back, and OPO will not connect to Data or MMS. So the problem does not appear to be SIM related, but OPO related. I wonder if my Nexus 5 would've worked in CAN for data/mms.
*About two weeks ago, while in USA, my mobile data stopped working, I had to get a new SIM card, which solved the problem, but I can't do this all the time, or when Int'l.
My question: How do I get my OPO to work w/ mobile data and MMS w/o getting new sim? I'd like the OPO to work in CAN and USA since I will be traveling to CAN often. Thanks.
Have you checked to see if your APN is correct?

I git a new SIM at t-mobile and had the same problem, voice and SMS only.
I reset my APN settings to default, and data and mms are working again.
APN settings all looked same as before though. I had tried resetting the APN in Canada, but it hadn't worked, but I didn't have Canada APN settings though...
Solved for now. Thanks.

CyanogenMod 12.1 - D850 - No LTE

I seem unable to get LTE on my D850 since I installed CM12.1 and was wondering if this is common for this ROM. I installed the nightly, so I assume its obviously going to be a bit buggy, but to not have LTE working seems strange.
I checked my APN and I tried both ATT LTE and ATT Phone. The ATT LTE gives me a status bar with an exclamation point and never establishes a data connection and ATT Phone gives me HSPA connectivity. At one time, I waited a few hours and it eventually established LTE but that was an uncommon occurrence and its never been repeated since.
With other ROMs I have not seen this issue replicated. I tested on Cyanide L, Euphoria, and the Stock LG ROM and everything worked fine. Any suggestions?
Hey there,
I'm running CyanideL myself, love this ROM.
Which nightly version are you using?
Have you checked that Mobile Networks --> Preferred network type.... is set to LTE?
Have you tried toggling to 3G, getting a connection, then moving back to LTE?
I also have this problem. Has a solution been found?
I just ditched the stock ROM and installed CM12.1 a few days ago. Now LTE has disappeared. I had it, now can't get it. I'm not able to select LTE in the settings→Mobile networks→Preferred network type menu, nor can I select any option that includes LTE in the test menu (*#*#4636#*#*). It's probably some stupid user error, but whatever it is has been eluding me for a day of messing with it.
Presently running cm-12.1-20150804-NIGHTLY-d850.

Interesting...
Have you tried restoring your stock ROM and seeing if it will connect? How about a SIM card pull?

Thanks for the reply. I have not tried returning to the stock ROM. I just got all my apps reinstalled and data restored, widgets installed, screens set up, etc., so I'm not too keen on doing all that again so soon.
I have tried a chicken SIM card pull. I was somewhat fearful of doing a pull "hot" as is usually suggested. I powered down, removed the SIM card, and restarted. After restart, I was able to select LTE in the settings→Mobile networks→Preferred network type menu, and the test menu confirmed that LTE/GSM auto was the preferred network type.
I then powered down, re-installed the SIM, and restarted. After restart the preferred network type had been reset to 3G and I was (am) unable to select LTE.
My conclusion is that this is something to do with the Net10 SIM I'm using. I've ordered a new SIM from Net10. The Net10 rep says a new SIM may fix things. One is on it's way and should be here in a few days. I'll post the result.
[SOLVED]
My new "LTE capable" Net10 SIM arrived today. I had Net10 customer service transfer my service to the new SIM. Now I have LTE; I'm able to select LTE in the Settings→Mobile_Networks→Preferred_Network_Type menu, LTE appears in the CM12.1 status bar, and I'm able to make a solid LTE connection.
I will here piece together everything I've learned from my own experience, Net10 customer support, and internet searching. My conclusion is that there are TWO compounding problems for Tracfone/Net10/StraightTalk users. One is techhnical and the other is marketing.
The technical issue is that all Net10 (also Tracfone and Straight Talk) AT&T SIMs sold up to a couple of months ago don't work with LTE on the AT&T network. That's most of the AT&T SIMs from these companies out there in the world today. This is not widely known – in fact, most of the Net10/TF/ST customer service reps are not aware of it. It's not something that Tracfone and its subsidiaries want known because it would cost them a bundle replacing SIM cards for unhappy customers. If you have a Net10/TF/ST SIM that's more than a few months old, you have to call Net10/TF/ST and buy another new one that's compatible with AT&T LTE if you want LTE service.
So, why don't more Net10/TF/ST AT&T users raise a fuss and demand LTE capable SIMs? That brings us to the marketing issue.
AT&T lies. So do Tracfone and its subsidiaries. AT&T markets its HSPA+ 3G service as 4G when it's not. In fact, the AT&T stock ROMs that most people are using lie. The stock ROMs display 4G or sometimes 4GLTE (depending on ROM version) in the status bar when in fact it's a HSPA+ connection; not 4G let alone LTE. So users cruise along using their old SIM cards happily thinking they have 4G or LTE connections when in fact they do not; and they're none the wiser. It's only more sophisticated users who flash a 3rd party ROM, one that doesn't lie, who figure it out.

Data is gone

will be on phone with AT&T in the morning or via chat with them. I have no access to my mobile data. no explanation, just stopped working. went into my settings for both SIM cards as I have data on both actually, but SIM 1 is the primary one and designated one. Switching settings made no difference. Had it look for network automatically says it's joined already but it's not. no connection, no internet, no Google now, email, nothing. confirmed with AT&T that my data plan is not messed up and still on my account. Was driving and it was end of night so rebooted phone, did not resolve, going to call tomorrow. (As if I have the time but I missed messages I needed to deal with on my break that came in personal email that can't be accessed at work). any suggestions with APN settings I might be missing or something? This is random and weird. Unless somehow data has an outage but you'd think the rep would have told me that. But this needs to be resolved! Don't know if it's AT&T or a phone setting. Was working fine until this morning! Love the phone! anyone? BTW: I just logged on to my account and have an idea: My SIM 1 is from my Note 3 but my account is reflecting that my device is now showing as unknown, so I wonder if this is what is going on. hmm. I'm still getting phone and text messages though. I guess I'm just going to register my SIM 1 now over too as well. maybe that's the issue. my SIM 2 is fully registered to the Pure XL. I guess I'm going online chat tomorrow again. Also, 4G is not showing up now as an available option under network choice either. So I wonder then if it's an outage issue but it's almost midnight here. Will have to chat tomorrow at work somehow with tech support. It's not the issue though with the SIM card from the Note 3 being the cause because SIM 2 is registered under the Pure XL and has a separate data plan, and that one is not working either when I try to temporarily make SIM 2 the data SIM slot. So it must be an AT&T issue. Will have to wait until the morning.

Well, I have learned it is a twofold issue, but importantly, all CARRIER RELATED, not phone related thank goodness. Phone is perfect
1. AT&T did a roving sweep and discovered that my IMEI on SIM 1 was no longer matching, so it turns out that my using the Note 3 SIM was in fact, an issue. I have since had the SIM re-provisioned with the IMEI for SIM 1 now on the Pure XL.
2. However...it turns out that AT&T in my area is in fact having major data network outage problems and that explains why I was unable to log on yesterday even with my properly provisioned SIM 2. And the network is in fact, STILL OUT. So I am still unable to access mobile data and it has NOTHING to do with the phone. It's AT&T all the way. Right now-the network is down. Okay-fine-that happens-they'll fix it. If you call 611 there's an alert saying that. I know stuff happens. That explains why I was getting the weird readouts yesterday that were only showing 2G and 3G on the network. (and I still wasn't getting any connection to data anyway).
So that's what the issue is. The network has been down though more than a day which is ridiculous. They really need to fix that or pro-rate that on our bills then! I'm unable to access personal email from work and rely on my phone and this is a long stretch of time to be offline so they really need to get on the stick and fix this!

Fortunately the network is up again by 12 noon. Getting LTE just fine on newly re provisioned SIM 1 card.
