Nexus 5 was on R+ CDMA - Now ST SIM gives no signal - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

When I go into the settings for Mobile networks at the bottom where it says System select it says change the CDMA roaming mode. the problem is I reset the phone and it now has a ST AT&T SIM card in it. Why does it still think it is CDMA?

Same exact thing happened to me. When I was researching the problem I came across this thread. The phone was showing no signal and then suddenly it received a SMS message saying my phone was ready to use. I rebooted it and it's fine, full signal. To people experiencing this, I suggesting waiting for about an hour and maybe your phone will cure itself too.

[Q] HTC Merge SIM help

Hello, I bought a SIM card from straight talk hoping to use it on my merge because I have seen people online that says I can do that as long as i have my SIM card unlocked. But after I got the card activated and put it in my phone it don't work. I try changing to GSM and using their APN but I have no signal, the mobile network just stays unchecked and I cannot check it. After a few minutes my phone suggests switching over to global mode and i do have mobile signal then but still no connection with anything. I called the straight talk woman and she told me it only works with AT&T or T-Mobile phones but it just don't make any sense to me that you have to have one of those previous carious just to get them as a new carrier? Am I missing something here?

Thanks to the helpful people over at 2fastroms and their quick response I found out that you have to have the 1.06.00.0910 verizon radio flashed to your system. You have to install the radio in the boot-loader and not the recovery menu, it took me a minute to figure that one out. Just informing anyone that has the same problem as me because I could not find it anywhere else on the web. Anyway credit to jianC for the help.

[Q] My phone will not roam. Grrrr....

Verizon SGS3. Running CM 10.1, last nightly (not 10.2).
I'm in Canada and my phone will not connect to a network of any kind. My wife's Iphone connects, so it's not a Verizon issue. When I go to phone status it just tells me "Searching for service" under network, and mobile network state is "disconnected".
I have "Automatic" selected under System Select, and my Network Mode ls "LTE/CDMA/EvDo". I've tried changing all of this and it just won't find a network here, I mean no cell service (no data either, but that's not crucial for me). I feel like roaming is just turned off and I can't turn it back on.
Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks for the reply. Yes, I do. My IMEI is intact, as is my phone number.
I should add that I was unable to make this phone work as a GSM phone in the UK, had the same issue (no cellular reception), I don't know if that's related or not. I also tried to use some Nandroid backups I had going back as early as Feb of this year and still no go.
I just got this phone a few days ago and so I don't really know this phone that well. Maybe someone will chime in.

solved
After doing a complete wipe & odin back to factory it still didn't work.
Back on cm10.1.2 now &I used the "phone info" app to select PCS (1900mhz) band. My phone immediately picked up the cell network. No data, but I'll take it! For some reason being on the multi band labeled USA wasn't getting me anything & my phone wouldn't auto-select. Not sure if it's a bad sim card or what.

Nexus 5 not registering on T-mobile Network

Phone's Settings read
Mobile Network Type- Unknown
Service State- Out of Service
Mobile Network State- Disconnected
My IMEI still shows up and I can connect to WIFI and bluetooth. The only problem is I can't get a signal, not 2G or 3G (even LTE)
This started happening out of nowhere, I tried taking out the sim, factory resetting, wiping caches, changing the APNs, restarting the phone, and I even put the sim in a new phone (It got signal).
If anyone has any ideas I'm all ears! What's the point of this amazing phone if I can't call people with it?
How long did you have the phone before this happened? Did you dial *#*#4636#*#* to check the phone info and change the network type?
I had a similar issue, but I think mine was a lot worse due to a dirty flash. I ended up having to do a fastboot recovery to restore it to factory.

What service are you with? I had this same exact issue a week ago with an LG G2. My Sim card would work in my Nexus 5 but wouldn't work in the G2.
After numerous factory resets I eventually called Metro PCS (my carrier) and I was told that whenever I put my Sim Card into a new phone I must always contact them and give them the new IMEI # so that the phone can work.
The Metro PCS rep claimed that they have a feature that disables the Sim from working in an unauthorized phone. I guess its to help with theft.

Hi, were you able to fix your issue? I am having the same exact issue and have done all troubleshooting I can do on my own but still nothing works.
If you have a method of fixing this please share.
Thanks,

I know this is really OLD!!!!
but i just had the same issue today
with a NEXUS 5 running stock marshmallo 6.0.1 with the latest patches
, and yes... is not the phone is the carrier
MetroPCS do IMEI lookup
i had another phone before the NEXUS 5
so it is no just matter of swapping the SIM card from one phone to the other
you need to call CS and you told them that your phone is not registering on the network
and that you just swapped phones
So they ask you for the IMEI of the "new" phone
and your SIM card #
you reboot your cell
and VOILA!
now the phone registers in the network
Yes, Metro do IMEI authentication

Verizon 3G - Can't Access

I have a bootloader locked, unrooted, stock Moto g 4.4.2 on Verizon Prepay. I can not get the phone to connect to 3G. I thought it was initially because I ran out of data. I put 3gb onto the account two hours ago and still am unable to connect to data. I have 3G service but the icon is highlighted orange.
I've tried Safe Mode, restarts, entering and exiting airplane mode to no avail.

This looks to be a common problem for the SIM variants. Still can't find a resolution, though..

The XT1028 is not a sim variant. Dial *228 on your phone and press 1 after hearing the operator. Afterwards dial *228 again and this time press 2.

What I meant was that this seems to be a problem prevalent with the SIM variants. I haven't seen this issue with the CDMA devices. However, I'm still having issues after re-activating and updating the PRL.
I sent Middleman a request for my bootloader unlock code so I'm hoping once I get CM up and going it will resolve my data issue.

Bring down the notification bar, tap Settings and the phone/data connection icon will have a muted orange color to indicate you're logged into Google Services. My phone (XT1028) has this too and im pretty sure my datas working. I wouldnt know since i didnt pay it this month because im testing out flashing stuff. BTW my phone has an unlocked BL.

No mobile data all of a sudden

I was using a card with 2g mobile data on marshmallow. Then I inserted a different sim with 3g data into my phone but it hasn't been detecting any mobile data since then.. I tried the same card with a different phone and the interest works perfectly on it. I also tried other sim cards with my one plus one but I am not getting any data at all now. I downgraded to 5.1 wondering it may be a glitch with MM, but no luck. Anyone with any clue about what needs to be done?
Thanks in advance.

maybe you need to set 3G or LTE in settings --> cellular data
or set apn configuration according to sim's carrier
It took me a couple of days to notice that my data wasn't working after the last update. I thought, since my network has terrible coverage, that I wasn't getting any network signal...but no, something was broken.
After tinkering with the APN settings (according to network specs) and doing everything I could think of nothing seemed to work.
Finally, I reset APN to default (holding the menu icon on the upper right corner) and switched to 3G instead of 4G.. finally got a signal
Switched back to 4G and everything is back to normal now.
I did notice that APN type is set to "default, supl" even though the carrier says that when setting it manually one should type "default".
Network is lycamobile UK
