PX6 Cold Boot, FastBoot and USB issue - MTCD Android Head Units Q&A

Hi there,
I just bought the following head unit: http://vanku.tech/index.php/products/aa0602b/26
Unfortunately fast boot is not working properly. The unit always does a cold boot. I figured out, when disconnecting all USB devices fast boot works perfectly. It is equal if I connect DAB+ module and Carlinkit adapter or only one USB stick. Is there a way to fix this? Perhaps with a MCU or Firmware update?

There is a cold boot timer in the factory settings. You could try changing it to something other than auto that is probably the default. The password for the factory settings is usually 126

Are you sure the timer is in the factory settings? I only found the ACC OFF timer in car settings. But changing it, didnt help.

Yes the ACC OFF is the setting. I have the same on my BMW 320D 2010. Fast boot only works about 5 minutes after the engine is turned off. I was told by the seller that this is normal behaviour for this car because, since it has start-stop function, its trying to save all juice it can since it only has one (big) battery in order power the start-stop function, instead of 2 batteries that newer cars have.

It has to be some sort of software issue. My old HU was a PX5 MTCE and fast boot worked fine.

I have a MTCE SYGAV branded PX6 which seems to always cold boot when I start the car. I think it may be that the battery voltage is dropping too low when the starter is cranking the engine. I have the "Display battery voltage" setting enabled (found in the Extra Settings scroll down in the options, if I remember correctly) so that it will show the battery voltage in the notification bar. The battery voltage in my car usually is around 11.5V give or take.
I've noticed that if the battery is below 12V upon starting the car, the head unit cold boots. The car stays parked more than driven so the battery is not being charged as much as it normally would be.
Interestingly, it will always fast boot if I just turn the key to the ACC position and not start the engine. Even if the car has been turned off for days it seems to always do the fast boot thing when the key hits ACC position. If this was a wiring issue then it would be an issue with the SYGAV harness as it is using the Toyota specific wiring harness which came with the radio (it was plug and play). I am more inclined to believe it is because of the voltage drop when the starter is turning the engine.

May or may not help, but the wiring harness that was included with my Dasaita PX6 had the yellow and red wires backwards (constant power and accessory power). This lead to it always cold booting. I have swapped them and now it's fixed.

My Car:
KIA Ceed 2008
Installation:
Installation was pretty easy. Once I got rid of the middle console and removed the old Radio, the installation was easy. Stuff all the adapters (WIFI, 3G, GPS) where it makes sense and fix the Radio. You need a 2DIN Install-Cage for your Car, so get that ahead of time. I won't go deeper into the installation, there are numerous "how-to"s that do this way better than I can
Getting Started:
After the installation, the unit gives you no basic steps like you would assume from Android (the timezone, user, mail stuff). General Language is set to English, the Keyboard has an additional Asian keyboard as well so set this to your desired language asap. The unit is fast, the UI is well thought out for Car use. CD play and DVD (region 2, Europe) was no problem and also fast. I added another Bluetooth Adapter because the onboard bluetooth has the known limitations for this kind of head units (only phone connection) and I want to use my Bluetooth ODB2 Adapter.
Until now, I have only positive things to say about this unit. I had a China-Unit before, which broke down after a year of usage and where the hardware quality just wasn't good (wobbly buttons, display kept getting pushed in because it was not mounted correctly and so on). This has a good hardware quality (until now )
Over the next few days, I will configure the Bluetooth stuff and I will see how well configurable the hardware buttons are (for example: Start Spotify instead of the music app when I press on Music and so on).
If you also Plan to get an Android Unit and don't want to wait for Android Auto (and the fact that all units will start at around 1000 € probably ), this may be your unit.
They ship from the UK (even have a warehouse in Germany, where I come from) so if you are in Europe, you don't have to worry about taxes and so on. Also, shipping was very fast (like.. Amazon fast).
Please tell me your experience with this device
Additional pictures:
Spyware?
I have installed this unit this past weekend and I really like it. I have a question though about the possibility of having pre-installed spyware from the chinese on these android devices. How would I go about detecting the possibility that there is something lurking somewhere?

Hi, could you make a photo of your Settings->About screen? Would be curious about the system version and the MCU Version you have.
Does the radio already play when booting up or do you have to wait until the boot is completed?
Thanks!

Question GPS Problem Joying JY-UL128N2 Android 6

Hello to all. I have a big problem with my unit's GPS signal. I have tried various firmware with Android 6 and various MCUs but always with the same result. My problem is that randomly, after hooking up the GPS signal, the signal is lost and no longer hooked. The bars in the GPS screen are not active and do not even activate with a good position. I have read about other forums on this issue, but no solution has been found. I do not think it's in the HW problem, maybe some of the SW crashes and do not recover.
Thanks for anyone who can help me.

I tried to disable two cores and lower the CPU frequency to 900Mhz with Kernel Adiutor (ROOT), I managed to get to a 60 degree centigrade temperature, believing the problem was temperature but the GPS problem reappears.

Have you checked your GPS cable? It could be (partially) broken somewhere internally. When driving it might start to swing and loose connection. Please try with the cable in your hand and make gentle bends over the cable length. See if you loose signal.

I lose connection even when the car is off and stops, without movement. It does not seem like a cable problem, I was thinking of a problem with some service on Android that randomly interfere with GPS.

I was suggested to verify that the GPS slot has 3.2 voltage.

FYI: The gps is on the SoM, not the mainboard. That means that the MCU has absolutely no relevance to it.
Is there a solution found for this? Is it really caused by the 3.2V?
Can you tell me about the fix? I have the same problem on erisin unit for e46, sometimes it works i have signal, sometimes no signal... And it stay with no signal untill the car is off for 2-3 hours, from where shoud i start?

THANK YOU. Was going to drive me nuts.
It works for me but it takes over a minute before it starts. The car does more see the device. Skoda Octavia Combi model 2018.
Anyone else has the same slow starts?
EDIT: fixed it! Disabling ADB debugging solves the delay (found out using logcat)
Works fine for me on 2018 Acura. Only issue, as referenced above, is if the notch is hidden, it cuts off the screen on the car's display.
Works fine in my [emoji176]Kia Rio 2018[emoji176]
Had to disable the notch hide... grrrr, works fine, not as snappy as my pixel 2 xl in android auto though, connected to 2018 Jeep
works fine on Chevy Volt 2017.
Yep is fine for me. Was tricky to initially pair but after I changed notch setting it worked. 2017 Mercedes.

Cool! I've never actually used Android Auto. (Mine's a much older system, so too prehistoric to have smart related stuff, but after seeing this, I'm now seriously thinking of upgrading). Does it give you access to all of the stuff on your android phone, or is it just basic stuff like syncing up music, etc?

Its a long-ish answer so just download the Android Auto app on your phone and see it in action. What you see on the phone running the app is what you see in the car (aside from integration with steering wheel buttons etc).
Work fine with Skoda Octavia 2018
It mostly works for me but I have to change the connection mode from USB charging to MPT every time I want to connect to my car. Otherwise, it won't detect the phone.
This is with a Honda Accord 2016. The car connection has the same issue with the OnePlus 3T but not with a Motorola phone that I tested.

Oh Ok, this sort of answers my question anyway. (so basically it's more of an app than a built-in full blown Android OS on a car stereo). In other words, limited features rather than a full OS.. Not alot of point for me then if that's all it does. (Mainly I would have used it for music and gps in the car, but I can already do that from my phone easily enough). But if it had been the whole Android OS that does literally everything my phone does, then that would have been totally worth it!
Thanks for the heads up though! What feature do you use yours for mostly?

PX3 to PX5 update problem - USB

Hello
I recently update my Dasaita PX3 unit with Witson PX5 core board and Android 9 Hal9k firmware. MTCD is 3.71d. USB porst are not working and I see sporadic resets. USB reset after startup is enabled, temp outside 5 celcius. Please help!
I see 4 less pin on Wiston coreboard header than in PX3. Is it problem?
I noticed that 4 unpopulated pin should not be an issue - PX5 is wider than PX3 board, soldered connector on both board have the same size.

What checks / tests have been done
On PX3 I used all USB, the same devices are not discovered after switch to PX5.
USB Host Controller app discover only wifi device, no hub or other devices.
USB devices are also not working in recovery (both android 8 and android 9 recovery - mount usb is not working)
I noticed that 4 unpopulated pin should not be an issue - PX5 is wider than PX3 board, soldered connector on both board have the same size.
I also noticed that android resets usually when more demanding task are executed. I see more reset with high brightness than with low -> I'm wondering if internal PSU can deliver enough power for PX5 board.
On PX3 I already noticed brightness fluctuation. It was not an issue for last 2 years. I thought it bad filtering of engine coil/injector

Hi, maybe it's not your problem, but does the board fit well in the pins? For the board to work well, I had to remove the heat sink screw, collided with mother on the board. I have isudar px3 android 7.12, 2 GB RAM. MTCE_GS_V3.67. I bought a Witson px5 4 GB RAM board for Android 10. Unfortunately, Bluetooth does not work. I have a BT A5BC6 module and WQ_BC6 in the factory settings. Otherwise, everything works fine. What I read may not work wifi, bluetooth and USB. Does your bluetooth and wifi work?
I have MD725 v1. It works correctly. Wifi also work correctly.
I removed one screw from PX5 which conflicts with soldered thread on main board, I removed also rest of glue
to not prevent tight fit. I drilled heatsink to add 3rd screw and add additional heatsink on top of it:
PX5 is taken from following board. It seems to have one usb (direct connection instead of hub?).
Do you know which PINs are for USB? I can check resistance, at worst case I can even solder PX5 to mainboard but prefer not.
Nice. I only added an anodized heatsink and the temperature dropped by 8°C. I will attach the fan to the top cover. I don't know where it is on the USB board. If the SD card works, I would probably leave it at that. Maybe they would advise on 4pda.ru, but only in Russian. I use a translator.

Yup, issue with connector confirmed. I measured from plugged PX5 to U27 chip ARM DP and ARM DM lines, one did not work.
Now I have only resets with high brightness and screen flickering. Seems like MTCD issue https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...asaita-max10-px6-4gb-64gb-android-10.4140875/
Do you think adding cap to TFT+5V may help? For me it seems like voltage drop which lead to cpu reset
Do you also see dependency between TFT+5V (4.2v in datasheet) and brightness? I see 3,86 with medium brightness,

Question TEYES CC2 2k - Bluetooth not working (to my phone) - RESOLVED

I've read through a few threads around obd connection issues and such, but this is just generally using Bluetooth to connect to my phone via the Bluetooth app.
The Bluetooth app doesn't seem to save any inputs for name or password, i tried the reset button but that just comes up with "reset unsuccessful"?
Also tried clearing storage under the app, that didnt help
Unsure what to try next?

Device name will be the name of your phone head unit when scanning detects your phone...set phone bluetooth to scan, set head unit to scan (slide down at top of screen to make sure bluetooth is toggled on then enable BT scanning....the Device field should auto populate with phone name detected while scanning....password is 0000....that also should auto populate
thanks for the response, i tried all kinds of combinations to pair the phone with the headunit. Including other phones. Even the TEYES OBD2 device is never found.
Also, i think those settings are to do with the headunit and not already paired devices. I've seen a few other videos where these fields have TEYES and 0000 predefined. This TEYES video has it called CARKIT
I've tried a few more things;
factory reset (from settings -> user -> backup and reset)
removing and re-plugging in the cabling with Bluetooth antenna
Still no luck, stuck scanning with nothing showing up... (even TEYES OBD2 devices doesn't show)
Is this normal ?
ok, so i think it is resolved... what i did;
followed instructions here, assuming this is a hard reset - https://teyes.co.nz/pages/cc3-2k-april-2023-29-04-2023?shpxid=23b36055-992d-4ddd-8fba-327143c7af43
obtained latest firmware for CC2 2K
modified config.txt updating sys.fyt.bluetooth_type=0
inserted usb stick, let the update run
fixed, bluetooth working again - headunit is named TEYES, code 0000
one more note, i have heard from another user that pressing the "Reset Bluetooth" button in the Bluetooth app as seen above can actually cause the problem. The only recovery is a full re-flash as above.

You can actually just have that line in the config txt file and it will reset the blue tooth without factory reset or reloading firmware.
I’ve just done it.
I just wanted to say thank you for posting this solution! I had the exact same issue and was able to fix it by adding that single line in the config.txt and doing a config-only flash since I'm not rooted.

What number did you both replace with a zero?
Most of the older FYT devices (including the older Teyes) used sys.fyt.bluetooth_type=1 and this could be changed to sys.fyt.bluetooth_type=0
The newer devices seem to use sys.fyt.bluetooth_type=7, or sys.fyt.bluetooth_type=0
I'm wondering if your newer units were set to 1 by mistake. It's odd that the included Teyes odb wouldn't even connect.

I wasn't able to check on my actual unit before flashing and the latest firmware update config.txt file didn't have that line at all so I added it myself.
In this older firmware update from October 2022, the number seems to be set to 1 so I assume that was the value on my unit when the issue happened. (forgot to mention, I have just the regular CC3)
Is there any documentation that might explain what bluetooth_type 0, 1, or 7 might mean?

It's my belief that 0 uses the Bluetooth module built in to our Unisoc chipsets.
1 uses an additional Bluetooth module installed on our motherboards and 7 uses a newer Bluetooth module on the newer motherboard's (like the CC3 2K and Mekede M6 Pro).
So for your older cc3 you can use 0 or 1 and the newer units can use 0 or 7
double post, sorry !
Hi ! I have the same problem just 3 days after installation...
There is solution without full re installation ?
Or it s possible to modify the text file directly from the unit?
Thanks a lot !
