Vendor Specs:
Vendor Site:
XTRONS Website
Experience:
My Car:
KIA Ceed 2008
Installation:
Installation was pretty easy. Once I got rid of the middle console and removed the old Radio, the installation was easy. Stuff all the adapters (WIFI, 3G, GPS) where it makes sense and fix the Radio. You need a 2DIN Install-Cage for your Car, so get that ahead of time. I won't go deeper into the installation, there are numerous "how-to"s that do this way better than I can
Getting Started:
After the installation, the unit gives you no basic steps like you would assume from Android (the timezone, user, mail stuff). General Language is set to English, the Keyboard has an additional Asian keyboard as well so set this to your desired language asap. The unit is fast, the UI is well thought out for Car use. CD play and DVD (region 2, Europe) was no problem and also fast. I added another Bluetooth Adapter because the onboard bluetooth has the known limitations for this kind of head units (only phone connection) and I want to use my Bluetooth ODB2 Adapter.
Until now, I have only positive things to say about this unit. I had a China-Unit before, which broke down after a year of usage and where the hardware quality just wasn't good (wobbly buttons, display kept getting pushed in because it was not mounted correctly and so on). This has a good hardware quality (until now )
Over the next few days, I will configure the Bluetooth stuff and I will see how well configurable the hardware buttons are (for example: Start Spotify instead of the music app when I press on Music and so on).
If you also Plan to get an Android Unit and don't want to wait for Android Auto (and the fact that all units will start at around 1000 € probably ), this may be your unit.
They ship from the UK (even have a warehouse in Germany, where I come from) so if you are in Europe, you don't have to worry about taxes and so on. Also, shipping was very fast (like.. Amazon fast).
Please tell me your experience with this device
Additional pictures:
Spyware?
I have installed this unit this past weekend and I really like it. I have a question though about the possibility of having pre-installed spyware from the chinese on these android devices. How would I go about detecting the possibility that there is something lurking somewhere?

Hi, could you make a photo of your Settings->About screen? Would be curious about the system version and the MCU Version you have.
Does the radio already play when booting up or do you have to wait until the boot is completed?
Thanks!

I have the same unit and have been running it for a few weeks. I really like this head Unit and would very much like to root it as it does NOT come rooted. I would like a "safe" way to gain root access.

You asked for the Settings/About screen for this unit (TD-626A) didn't you?
Of course, you are right. Thanks for the pics
I read somewhere you wanted to root the unit, that's why I provided you the link to the huifei forum.

i've actually solved that issue now, just need to make sure the notch setting is not set to hidden, then it works fine.
Thank you
There are 2 bug reports about it, 1 is mine with photos the other is someone else's without photos

I should get mine tomorrow. I'll try it out and report back.

Sent from my ONEPLUS A3003 using Tapatalk
its working perfectly on my kenwood aftermarket head
THANK YOU. Was going to drive me nuts.
It works for me but it takes over a minute before it starts. The car does more see the device. Skoda Octavia Combi model 2018.
Anyone else has the same slow starts?
EDIT: fixed it! Disabling ADB debugging solves the delay (found out using logcat)
Works fine for me on 2018 Acura. Only issue, as referenced above, is if the notch is hidden, it cuts off the screen on the car's display.
Works fine in my [emoji176]Kia Rio 2018[emoji176]
Had to disable the notch hide... grrrr, works fine, not as snappy as my pixel 2 xl in android auto though, connected to 2018 Jeep
works fine on Chevy Volt 2017.
Yep is fine for me. Was tricky to initially pair but after I changed notch setting it worked. 2017 Mercedes.

Cool! I've never actually used Android Auto. (Mine's a much older system, so too prehistoric to have smart related stuff, but after seeing this, I'm now seriously thinking of upgrading). Does it give you access to all of the stuff on your android phone, or is it just basic stuff like syncing up music, etc?

Its a long-ish answer so just download the Android Auto app on your phone and see it in action. What you see on the phone running the app is what you see in the car (aside from integration with steering wheel buttons etc).
Work fine with Skoda Octavia 2018
It mostly works for me but I have to change the connection mode from USB charging to MPT every time I want to connect to my car. Otherwise, it won't detect the phone.
This is with a Honda Accord 2016. The car connection has the same issue with the OnePlus 3T but not with a Motorola phone that I tested.

Oh Ok, this sort of answers my question anyway. (so basically it's more of an app than a built-in full blown Android OS on a car stereo). In other words, limited features rather than a full OS.. Not alot of point for me then if that's all it does. (Mainly I would have used it for music and gps in the car, but I can already do that from my phone easily enough). But if it had been the whole Android OS that does literally everything my phone does, then that would have been totally worth it!
Thanks for the heads up though! What feature do you use yours for mostly?
Control your USB DAB+ receiver with a simple and straightforward user interface.
Slideshow works nicely. There are no station logos though.
This is no competition for the excellent "DAB-Z" app. It's rather for people like me with thick fingers and an unreliable touchscreen ...
The user interface is extremely simple, optimized for car screen, with large buttons and selection areas - those touch screens are not always perfectly calibrated. The UI closely matches the one I created for the Klyde module app
It's optimized for car screens of 1024x600, in landscape mode. If you have a different resolution and the app looks weird, post at this thread. Maybe I can add annother layout.
This app is build upon the HRadio example code by IRT GmbH (Fabian Sattler), published under the Apache License 2.0. It's still available on Github as of this moment, but the company was dissolved so there is no guarantee.

Update from 2023-03-13
Version 1.1.0 allows to save the currently visible infotext by appending it to a text file. The content of this text file can be exported, shared over various apps or cleared. This comes handy e.g. if you like the song that's playing and want to note down title and artist.
In addition, efforts were made to make the USB and low-level media code more stable.
Update from 2021-06-03
Version 1.0.2 added experimental support for steering wheel button operation.
Skip Next = Next Station
Skip Previous = Previous Station
Play = Next Filter (set of stations, cycles through "All" "Selected Program Type", "Favourites")
If you have the Steering Wheel App, you can assign these commands to any buttons.
Update from 2021-05-25
Version 1.0.1 comes with a color picker, to customize the color of the info text.
Just touch and hold the info area!
Working away from home at moment, but will try when I get home again

I have installed this on my head unit - currently using Witson Rom, Android 10.
It has installed, then searched and found 76 stations, but as soon as the station tries to play, it closes down, every time.
Are there any restrictions to it, as in Android 9 only, needs root etc

If you are online while that happens, I should see a crash report on Google Play. Let me check ...
Edit: No, I don't see a crash report yet. If you know how to use "logcat" or the app "Catlog", you can post the crash ("Unhandled exception") right here.
Just had another look, unfortunately the ROM is not rooted, so cannot get a log (?). Tried sending feedback through the app if that works. It's not actually closing, just putting itself in the background, but not playing anything. If I click on stations before it disappears, it shows them for a few seconds, goes back to main screen, then disappears.

If it's doing that, it is really (quietly) closing with an exception.
Unfortunately, there are hundreds of possible causes, so I can't do much without a stack trace of the problem. Still nothing on Google Play but they are quite slow with data updates recently.

Well, it looks like a log should, but unfortunately it does not seem to include the moment of the crash ...
It should include several lines, one of which begins with "Caused by ..."
Hello again. Changed ROM to Malaysk 10 lite with root, and tried again. The app is still crashing just after it receives full signal. Had a quick look at log, and there are several "caused by" events, hope it contains info you can use. I will change to Malaysk ROM 9 to see if it is an Android 10 issue.

Installed Android 9, and I'm afraid it does exactly the same thing. I was hoping to use this instead of DAB-Z, which works with no problems, as I like the look, but I suppose DAB-Z it is for now.

I can see a few crashes on my Developer Console at Google Play now. The ones I can do something about should be fixed in version 1.0.2.
Others are from deep inside the native C library. I have no idea what's causing them.

Fixed annother bug that was introduced with the steering wheel feature - probably unnoticed as it only happened when the app was closed.

Promising app... thank you. I am testing it on my PX5 with S32F0 MCU and full Malaysk ROM. It works well, but I found a bug. W.r.t. other DAb apps, this one found less stations during the search. If I am not wrong, a complete ensemble is missed (Italy). I can check this later and give you more details.

Hi everyone,
so i've bought a new android unit for my car. I have been checking the other posts in this forum but they are kind of "pro level" so i felt the need to clarify some doubts. I know you guys are experts, if you can help be i would be thankful. I'll also provide some feedback that maybe can help people who are considering buying it.
The unit i've bought is this one:

I have a Ford Grand C-Max manufactured 11/2015 (the restyled one), and i thought this radio would be a good fit (i've had other android units in my past cars). I bought the 6G+128GB version (TS6 version), with Android 11. The brand is "Navifly", however i guess this is just another brand variation.
1) Feedback
Positive- Fast and fluid Android experience - no lag to complain about.
- Sound Quality - a great improvement over the Ford Sync 2 original radio - better definition, better bass, supports higher volumes without distortion
- Radio has RDS - it actually shows the station name (we don't have DAB in Portugal, it is still FM) and the tuning quality is good
- GPS is ok. Not awesome, but usable. Supposedly, it also gets some Glonass satellites, but as you know Glonass constellation is sparser, so it usually only gets GPS triangulation. I use Waze, sometimes it takes a bit to understand where it is.
Negative- Quality of design and build of the plastic fairings: the plastic fairings are much lower quality relatively to the Ford ones. They don't precisely fit the car dashboard, by a couple of milimiters. I have it provisionally installed, but i'll have to shave some plastic when i get it definitely installed. Additionaly, the chines fairings don't have the metal clips/retainers that the original plastics have to get it securely in place. I've has to order some to get this sorted out...
- The CANBUS communication:
-> i am not getting any steering wheel communication at all (no volume control, no call pick up. This is the worst part for me
-> the information of the parking sensors is erratic. My car has 6 sensors at the front and 6 at the back (360º coverage) and there is quite an error on the info shown in this android unit, so i am not not trusting it a lot. Besides that, it is slow to react (couple of seconds), and the car should be drawn vertically (you brain needs to rotate the view 90º to get it right).
-> No Park Assist (automated parking) information is shown at the unit, so the Park assist is not currently working
-> I can get reversal signal, climate info (when i change it), and open door information.
- The screen. For its size, its low resolution, not bright enough, and it is very reflective. Not very happy with it.
2) Help RequestI need help to sort the CANBUS limitations. This is the canbus box they sent me:
I guess this box is not the most adequate for my C-Max. I can't read chinese characters so i really don't know what it says at all. I've tried to get into the canbus box definitions in the settings menu and have tried selecting other canbus choices with no avail: i couldn't get steering wheel info at all. So i've went a bit overkill and ordered two canbus boxes to see if a different canbus box solve my issues. I've ordered these two:
- Another Hiworld box (i guess this is a newer version than the one i have, so i hope they have sorted out the issues) https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005002718903038.html?spm=a2g0o.9042311.0.0.27424c4dac8EZc
- An XP one: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005002327630203.html?spm=a2g0o.9042311.0.0.27424c4dac8EZc
So i now have three questions for you guys:
1) Is this a FYT unit? Or a Mekede?
2) Will any of the new boxes sort out my canbus miscommunication?
3) Is there any place where i can get a firmware update? Or canbus firmware update? This is what the Android System settings show about my unit:
Thank you guys in advance for your help!!
I have tried other two canbus boxes from Hiworld and XP, with no avail. Still no steering wheel controls. Any suggestions?

Hi,
1) Mekede = FYT, not every FYT is a Mekede. But your unit is a Topways built unit sold by reseller TopNavi, so neither a Mekede nor a FYT nor a NaviFly. You are in the wrong sub-forum. Please ask in the general Android Head Units subforum
2) Ask your reseller TopNavi.
3) Please ask your TopNavi reseller or in the general Android Head Units subforum. There your will find the TSx series with firmwares and other information.
And by the way: It is a fake Android 11. It is still Android 10 (Api/SDK 29) as displayed on the web page. One can write a script that will set the "Android level" to any version you like: Android 10, 11, 31, 451, 10961, 4, ..
But it is a nice looking unit compared with the standard Ford units.
EDIT: This seems to be a FYT after all. Sorry for the confusion.
In my signature you find on the 3rd line the "HWGetInfo.apk". Please run it and share the created zip file.
LONG story short I bought this used MCMW head unit, tried getting my money back but PayPal sided with the seller even though it's missing pieces and constantly crashes after about a week of use. Performance has been under par (compared to AVINUSA.com or Joying unit's I've got running in other BMW's) and the manufacturer hasn't been helpful when I keep asking for firmware to reflash the unit to see if that'll help. It'll run decently for about a week, then suddenly Waze, the DVR app, etc will continually crash leaving me to only use the unit for Bluetooth and that's about it...unless I reset it back to factory, reinstall apps and then buy myself another week. The touchscreen is oddly either unresponsive or too sensitive as I'm scrolling around, it's just getting frustrating for daily use. I just wanna see if anyone has any advice on how to improve it's performance so it's usable and doesn't need weekly resetting. Even pointing me to the correct forums would be helpful but direct links to actual flashable firmwares, updates, etc would be awesome.

Unfortunately, the forum crystal ball doesnt know what you unit is and from the hundreds of made up models and brands, the seller could be selling units of different types, from different factories, despite branding with the same model name.
Post screenshots from Android system information, including the MCU version when posting questions.
Doing this will at least help others help you, or you might find the information has already been posted or discussed here, yourself.

Hello, your unit is MCU: MTCH, the app crashes problem is doing the last updates of android webview and chrome. Maybe that's your problem too. Just uninstall and disable their updates, reboot the unit. Ignore any requests to update them. A firmware update won't help, this is the only working solution on Android 10 so far.
Ok, I'll try that since I did update Android Webview and Chrome during my lunch, yet Waze and my dashcam app crashed consistently on my drive home. I'll try uninstalling both and see if that helps me avoid having to completely reset the unit again.
Requested moderator moves to MTCD section.
Op read through MTCD section, the issue has been discussed already.

Disabled, cleared their storage and now Waze works again. Unit's still slow to respond (dragging apps for split screen took like 8 tries) vs it's stats but at least it works now. Thanks for the help.
I bought the same unit for my E38 but I bought it from Xtrons directly thru xtrons-usa on ebay I almost purchased it from MCMW until I figured out he is reselling an Xtrons unit even though he says he is not and says that Xtrons is rubbish. I can tell you it is the biggest POS I've spent $400 on so MCMW is right it is rubbish. I think it runs better after updating webview seams to be more fluid but I just updated it after reading this thread lastnight so time will tell, you understand.

Hello, I purchased an Xtrons PQS1139BL and it's been a toxic relationship. I love the features but its very buggy. Xtrons says there are no updates for this unit and I think they are tired of dealing with me. This is my bug list. Every...

I did resolve the noise issues by dumping the factory amp since I posted this.
Ooh I'm sure they're the ones exact same units, I guess the only saving grace of keeping this used unit is that it included all the iBus converter and another module I'm forgetting about but I can read everything from the OBC on the iBus app and it adds features like triple blinkers.
My current frustration with the unit (which happened to bring me back to these forums today) is that I wanted to see if there's a way to adjust screen sensitivity/accuracy. As I mentioned above it takes multiple times to move apps around in the app drawer, trying to run dual apps and even general use.

Mine is horrible to navigate. I use carplay and use my phone as much as possible.
I purchased the Teyes CC3 for my Jeep Grand Cherokee, but apparently it is not compatible with my year (2020). I've had it sitting here with nothing to do with it. I'm finally selling it. Never even attempted installation, it's simply not compatible. here is the listing title when I bought it: TEYES CC3 For Jeep Grand Cherokee WK2 2013 - 2020
What do you mean "simply not compatible"? These Android Head units are self contained devices. They have radios and connections to vehicle systems.
The problems encountered usually are either related to Canbus or to interfacing with steering wheel controls and/or amplifiers. You can live without a Canbus, usually. Sometimes you can't, if you need to control things like HVAC through the head unit. There are interface modules that can help with that. Here are some:
Factory System Adapters at Crutchfield Canada

The main problem is that it's going to cost extra for those interface modules.

It means that poster hasn't read or perhaps doesn't understand and/or is inexperienced in asking clarifying questions.
@jvs60 FYI, on the AliExpress page for the CC3 Jeep Cherokee 2013-2020:
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005001666020340.html
It mentions 3 steps to do to make the A/C, and other functions, that worked through the OEM radio, work with the CC3. It also talks about a modification to the provided bezel that needs to be made to make the CC3 fit and mentions that the CC3 will stick out a bit. Here are a few images from there:

I used Google Translate using my phone's camera to translate:
Step 1 is referring to the Assistant app/feature.
Step 2 has heading of Assistant Setup with options Button Display and Power-on Start and another option that says Air Conditioning Protocol.
Step 3 shows which vehicle to select in the Canbus setup.
It looks like from the images, it doesn't cover any buttons or other controls.
I have no association with TEyes. If you're past the return/warranty time, you can either sell it or try to make it work. If you're not past the warranty period you can go through AliExpress dispute process, if that's where you purchased it. I went through it and after providing images and messages that TEyes sent me to prove my dispute, AliExpress was pretty good.
Just providing some info to help you out. Good luck.

Thank you for the information. The first issue is, if you look at the before and after picture in the Teyes instructions, the "before" is not the the head unit that I have. If I'm not mistaken the head unit changed from the 2019 model. My stock head unit is attached to the dash kit frame. What I was sent will not work with my model year. I think they need to edit the compatible years. The only solution is the attached $500 dash kit
Well that sucks. I got it now. If you're still within the warranty/dispute period, you can ask the reseller to send you the correct bezel. That's clearly grounds to win the dispute. I figure what will happen is you'll only get a partial refund. If you want the entire refund, they'll ask you to ship it back at your cost. Even if they paid for the shipping, they would be holding your refund until they got the unit. I don't know what would happen then when they have your money and the unit.
On AliExpress, I remember seeing some manufacturers/resellers that just sold the bezel. If you get a partial refund, you might be able to buy the correct bezel. I did a quick search and didn't find one. Or, then you could just sell it to recoup your entire amount.
Good luck.
