[Q] Factory reset options

Guys, Does it make any difference doing a factory reset from inside the recovery menu or just in settings-backup&reset ?
Should i wipe cache in recovery or will factory reset do this ? Anyone know if sms backup+ is working on kitkat ?

[Q] What do the various ways of resetting the Moto G actually do?

What do the various ways of "resetting" the Moto G actually do? Which, if any, result in changes to phone user data versus phone applications or phone configuration data?
In Kitkat 4.4.4 there is Settings->Backup & reset->Factory data reset. What does this do? Does it just reset all the account and user information so that one is required to enter or create a google account? Does it affect any applications that were installed by a user? Or does it remove applications that were installed on the phone by the user since the phone was first used?
When you unlock the bootloader of the phone, it is "wiped". Which reset is done when this wipe happens? Is it equivalent to doing the Factory data reset above?
My phone is rooted and has twrp recovery installed. In twrp, there two wiping choices:
Wipe->Factory reset
Is the factory reset in twrp the same as the Settings->Backup & reset->Factory data reset?
Wipe->Advanced Wipe, which allows checking Dalvik cache, Data, Internal Storage, Cache, System, microSD card, USB OTG
If you select to wipe Dalvik cache, Data, and Cache is that the same result as doing the Wipe->Factory reset just above? If you wipe System, then you no longer have a bootable phone, right? What about Internal Storage?
I also have Xposed installed which makes changes to system files to customize android. How, if at all, does this affect what happens when the phone is "reset"?
Am I correct in assuming that the only one to return my phone to stock kitkat is to reflash a kitkat rom? What will happen if I do the Factory data reset under Settings, or the Wipe->Factory reset under twrp on my phone which has an unlocked bootloader, many applications installed, and Xposed and many Xposed modules that get loaded when the phone boots?

twrp and encryption issues

phone was encrypted, flashed cm12s using latest twrp and now when i enter pin it says pin correct but data corrupted do a factory reset. so i do a factory reset and still same issue. any ideas anybody or will i have to wipe data and reflash

yesterday i download heartbleet bug fix(OTA) on my HTC One X,device was rooted and bootloader was unlocked,and when i installed it,installation was unsuccessful because of CWM recovery,thats why i had to install a stock recovery and when i boot my phone in to stock recovery,my phone got factory reset and all data wiped
i also used this applications to recovery:ِDr.phone-disk digger-hexamob-jihosoft android phone recovery-stellar data recovery and etc But nothing has recovered those wiped data

Switching roms without losing user data

Since there is no TWRP for op8t, I'm trying to figure out how to switch roms without wiping user data. TWRP does this with the Factory Reset option. Anyone know which folders are deleted with TWRP Factory Reset? I tried /system/data/data but the phone got stuck on Android is updating... after starting.
