What do the various ways of "resetting" the Moto G actually do? Which, if any, result in changes to phone user data versus phone applications or phone configuration data?
In Kitkat 4.4.4 there is Settings->Backup & reset->Factory data reset. What does this do? Does it just reset all the account and user information so that one is required to enter or create a google account? Does it affect any applications that were installed by a user? Or does it remove applications that were installed on the phone by the user since the phone was first used?
When you unlock the bootloader of the phone, it is "wiped". Which reset is done when this wipe happens? Is it equivalent to doing the Factory data reset above?
My phone is rooted and has twrp recovery installed. In twrp, there two wiping choices:
Wipe->Factory reset
Is the factory reset in twrp the same as the Settings->Backup & reset->Factory data reset?
Wipe->Advanced Wipe, which allows checking Dalvik cache, Data, Internal Storage, Cache, System, microSD card, USB OTG
If you select to wipe Dalvik cache, Data, and Cache is that the same result as doing the Wipe->Factory reset just above? If you wipe System, then you no longer have a bootable phone, right? What about Internal Storage?
I also have Xposed installed which makes changes to system files to customize android. How, if at all, does this affect what happens when the phone is "reset"?
Am I correct in assuming that the only one to return my phone to stock kitkat is to reflash a kitkat rom? What will happen if I do the Factory data reset under Settings, or the Wipe->Factory reset under twrp on my phone which has an unlocked bootloader, many applications installed, and Xposed and many Xposed modules that get loaded when the phone boots?

Hey guys, this might be a really noob question. I looked it up on google, but still wanted to make sure because of the verizon locked bootloader etc( i know we can unlock it now). How do i do a full wipe on my device? I am asking because there are a few more options in the wipe settings of the custom recovery i have.
This are the steps i always do before flashing a rom. Are they the correct steps or do i need to do something else?

Wipe Dalvik-Cache
Wipe Data/factory reset

Wipe Cache and wipe dalvik cache should both be done when flashing modifications or tweaks as they reduce the chance of encountering data issues/glitches and neither of them wipe your data as they are merely caches. Wipe data/factory reset should be done before flashing a rom. Wipe data/factory reset automatically wipes the cache and as the name implies will wipe any data you have on the phone, though any files you have saved to your internal "sd card" will be left intact. Before flashing a rom I always do a factory reset, and a dalvik cache wipe. Additionally I have found it helpful to also go into mounts and format system. There have been times for me that switching between two different roms has led to choppy performance, and this step seems to fix that as it thoroughly removes any traces of the previous rom.

I'm switching ROMs and want to do a factory reset to be safe however my recovery doesn't read the external SD card. If I factory reset, could I get back into android to transfer my file over? I know you can probably adb while at recovery and do it that way but adb always gives me headaches.
EDIT: I was thinking it wipes user data on the internal SD. But I'm pretty sure it doesn't right?
EDIT2: Found the answer. Factory reset via CWM doesn't wipe user data but factory reset via settings does.
I've a tegra note 7 with twrp, and I'd like to do a factory reset, but how I've twrp, is it impossible over config menu

Yes, that's what factory reset does anyway, so the effect is exactly the same.

There are 2 ways to factory reset, 1 in settings and 1 in Recovery.
If TWRP and Magisk are installed will both or either one reset to
no-root and stock Recovery?

Either will only wipe userdata, that is your installed apps, settings and files. Neither affects any modifications you have made to either system or boot partitions.

I wanted to perform a factory reset without loosing the stock ROM for now.
I don't do this since a long time ago (I did that on M7) I just wanted to ask a confirmation about that on TWRP Recovery.
What I need to do? Is WIPE -> Advanced Wipe and select DATA, Internal Storage, Cache and Dalvik Cache enough?
Basically I can wipe everything except system and boot right?
I've read something about formatting partitions but I'm not sure.
EDIT: I've found this: TWRP --> WIPE --> Swipe to Factory Reset
No more else should be needed.
