My Touch Pro randomly stopped booting, I had it charging and then the screen refused to come back on no matter how many times I pressed the power button.
So I took out the battery and after I put it back in it started turning on without me pressing the power button and it stayed on the boot screen for a long time and then went to a black screen with the message:
The device is unable to boot because either you have turned off the device incorrectly or tried to install an application from untrusted source, Press SEND to reset your device or press any other button to cancel, This operation will delete all your personal data and restore the device to its factory default settings.

I tried pressing send and every other button but nothing happens. Even tried hard resetting it but nothing happens! The message just stays on the screen till the battery dies.
Does anyone know how I can get it working again?
Btw when I press volume down and the reset button I get the tri colour SPL screen, if that is relevant
Are you positive this a GSM TP? Also, you can provide the type of device for others to see if they have a similar device and perhaps they may be able to shed some light as to what may be the problem. Check your device, behind the battery compartment you'll see a couple of bar codes. Look for one called IMEI and just above it you should see RAPH###, where # equals any number between 0-9. If you have a GSM device, have you attempted to flash anything yet? I'd start with task29 and then flash either a stock ROM or if you already have HSPL'd your phone, then use a custom ROM of choice. If you find out that you have anything else besides a GSM device, you might be better off waiting on someone else to answer.
Im trying to find a screen locking solution that will allow me to lock my phone with either the pattern lock or a code. Currently my phone (LG Phoenix [P505]) is running froyo 2.2.2 and though I love the phone I would love to be able to lock the phone. Currently if I use the pattern lock I end up pocket dialing 911 because of the emergency call button. Two simple bumps in the right place and your leg is talking to 911. I can't do a custom ROM for the phone because one does not exist yet and I dont know even half of what I would need to know to make my own. Anyone out there have an suggestions?
How can you pocket dial 911 on a touch screen?
Or is it a hardware button doing that?
The phone is touch screen yes, but when you hit a hardware button on the phone it brings up the pattern lock screen which has at the bottom a software button that says "Emergency Calls" and if pressed comes up with the dial pad which is already populated with 911 (emergency number here in the US) and has the send button lined up exactly with the Emergency Call Button. So if you have it in your pocket and it hits one of the hardware buttons you can in a matter of two bumps to the screen you can have the police on the line.
(off topic)
You have Android 2.2.2? was that preinstalled on your phone?
what is the software version? (v11e or other?)
Thanks,
R.
The phone came with 2.2.1 but just updated it over air to 2.2.2 today hoping that would fix the issue but with no luck
here is everything my phone tells me
model number lg-p505
kernel 2.6.32.9
build frg83g
software version lg-p505-v10i
I have this same problem. I switched to the pin lock screen and haven't pocket dialed 911 since. I would rather have the pattern lock though.
Hi every one:
Since my last problems, every stock rom i flash display a layer on home screen: semi transparent background, with yellow fonts displaying some kinf of "about device" screen (modules versions, hardware capability, batterie status, etc). It disappears when i launch any apps, but comes back as soon as i enter home screen again. This layer is transparent to touch: touches are forwarded to elements under.
My phone never asks for sim unlock neither.
However, i'm fine with cm10.1: no layer, simcard unlocks.
I've just restocked, flashed my device up to boot.img with stock CLL2/CLJ3 , but this changes nothing.
Any idea what is this ?
Edit: Found solution here.
friends,
- The issue as the tour said tickets solved! But I type * # 06 # and the IMEI does not appear it opens a small window but does not show IMEI!
- And even going on information from the cell where he has written would have to be a number, written UNkwon ta!
- Someone could give me a hand there?
thank you!
I'm guessing English is not your native language as your post is a little broken?
If you want the IMEI, it listed on the bootloader screen. To go into bootloader, press and hold power and the volume down rocker until the capacitive buttons flash a few times, and the screen goes dark. Once the screen goes dark, let go of the power button but do not release the volume down button until the while bootloader screen appears.

Main screen (hboot/bootloader). The numbers and barcodes for IMEI, SN, and MB (don't actually know what that one is) should be right on the bootloader screen.

How do I give him Bootloader? I got in his setup and I selected Recovery and he is a black theme with an image of the phone with exclamation symbol!
Because it was so?

The white screen where you selected recovery is bootloader. It should have the bar codes for IMEI and SN on the white screen. Although maybe this varies by carrier version and hboot version? But I believe its been on mine since the phone's release, and through 3 different hboot versions.

I am Brazilian and I'm not quite understand where is this option to retrieve the IMEI?
And you need to be with chip phone carrier to try to retrieve the IMEI?

Its not an "option". If you boot using power and vol down, you are in the white bootloader screen. On that same screen there should be the IMEI number and bar code, as well as SN and bar code. If its not already on that same screen, its simply not present on your hboot version, and you will need to find another way.
Did you buy the phone new? If so, there may be a sticker on the box with the IMEI and SN, or a card included with the box with the same information.
Why do you need the IMEI?

Do you mean the SIM? Do you mean the phone worked properly before, then stopped recognizing the SIM?

I don't see how the IMEI is going to help you, then. I'd try putting some tape around the SIM (helps in cases where a defective SIM tray is causing bad contact with the SIM) or try a new SIM.
So no changes to the phone (mods, OTA etc.) and it just stopped reading the SIM?

starting the day he stopped reading the SIM so he also got the plane so it! seems not to want to shut down?
have any idea my phone back up and running after those pictures I sent you?
and when you boot in the bootloader you can't see barre code for the imei???
have you try (after a backup of your datas moved to an usb card or to the Pc) the factoryreset (you can see it in the bootloader menu)
Are you on stock rom ? what's the version of your hboot ?

when I enter the bootloader IMEI appears already gave Factoryreset and no work! already bought up a new SIM! I do not know what to do more!
You're on an official "stock" rom?
As I already mentioned, try putting a layer of clear office tape (like "Scotch" brand tape) around the SIM (but do not cover the metal side). This has helped a number of folks where a loose SIM tray is causing poor connection between the SIM and the phone.
I still use phone as originally came from the factory! I just upgraded from 4.1 to 4.2 android! but one and the image plane so I sent it seems that trying to turn off and not turn off! I did not activated it! when I see it was already like that!

Are you not reading what Redpoint is saying? He's told you twice to stick some adhesive tape to the back side of your SIM card.
Sent from my Evita.
I got the Galaxy S22 Ultra in July of this year and since then, it has dialed emergency number more than 5 times. I have no idea how to stop it. I have:
a) Removed the phone dialer icon from lock screen.
b) Unchecked the Emergency SOS option.
c) Unchecked the "Wake Screen on double tap".
But, for some reason, the screen still keeps waking up when the phone is in my pocket and particularly when I am going up/down the stairs or on a treadmill. The second observation is that it does not dial 911 but dials 112. Then I get a call from the emergency responders and I have to explain to them about the phone.
Phone is non-rooted, Android 12 and upgraded to Android 13. Problem happens on both.
I have searched on Google but cannot find anything relevant. I have no idea how to stop the phone from dialing emergency number. Please help...
Prior to S22 Ultra, I has S20+ and it never dialed emergency number.
Thanks,
Arun
check whether the power button have issues. check by dialing *#0*# and tap on SUB KEY.

What is supposed to happen? When I pressed the SUB KEY, the phone screen turned a bright grey. Pressing the back button, the screen turned bright purple. Pressing the back button second time brought back to the original screen.
If I dial *#0*# and press the power button, the screen turns bright red. Then pressing back button turns the screen bright purple and pressing back button second time takes me back to the original menu screen.
Thanks...
Does it turn red without pressing the power key, just wait few seconds to check whether its happening, because if there is a problem with the key then definitely the screen changes to red by itself.

It does not turn red by itself. I waited couple of minutes.

Type in settings SOS, under Safety and you will find an option to press power button to call 911, you can turn it off there.
It is already off but the phone still dials emergency number. It did so again yesterday. I was just standing and watching TV and phone was in my pocket. On closer inspection, I am seeing that the phone dials 112 and NOT 911. 112 is also considered an emergency number.
This has been happening once/twice a month ever since I got this phone. I have turned off every possible emergency dialing but it still does so.
Someone told me that these phones have a feature that when they detect certain type of movement, they assume that the person is in an accident or has fallen down and they will dial emergency number and there is no way to stop it. This is super dumb IMHO.
From what you're describing it seems that the screen gets turned on randomly and it also accepts interaction even though the phone is in the pocket.
I have no idea why would the screen turn on (and allow touch interactions) when it's in the pocket.
Do you have a screen protector/cover or similar that might "simulate"touches ? or maybe a case that pushes some of the buttons on the side ?
You are absolutely correct about screen turning on randomly. Many times, when I pull the phone out of pocket, I see that its screen is on and dialer is on emergency call screen. It would only take one touch to dial the emergency number.
I do not have any screen protector, only cover. The cover is Spigen and I cannot see a way that it would simulate screen touch. The power key on the cover is recessed to prevent accidental press.
I have another theory. I have configured Samsung wallet and this wallet can be activated by screen swipe from bottom to top. Even when screen is totally off, a swipe from bottom to top activates the wallet and card shows up. This wakes up the screen and brings up all the menus etc. including provision to dial emergency number. I am not sure if friction between pocket and phone screen is causing to launch this screen.
The only problem with this theory is that I had the same setup on S20 without any issues. But on S20, I always used screen protector which might have reduced the touch sensitivity. On the S22, I have tried couple of screen protectors including many brand names and they just do not stay.
Go ahead and test your theory by switching off your swipe gesture for your samsung wallet and see if that'll do it.
I had this exact same problem several times on my Samsung Galaxy S21 5G. Has absolutely nothing to do with the Emergency SOS feature. Mine would call 911 with my phone in my pocket while mowing my lawn...very embarrassing to tell an LEO at high alert barging into your backyard that yeah, you really are okay...maybe hot and in need of a beer, but essentially okay.
What's happening is you have Double Tap to Turn On Screen enabled. A double tap in your pocket or bag will open the lock screen, expose the soft key for making an Emergency Call, and ultimately a couple more unfortunately well placed taps will place the call to 911. Apparently this has become a huge problem nationwide since the Android 13 update late last year. To disable it, in the phone Settings, go to Advanced Features, Motions and Gestures, and turn off Double Tap to Turn On Screen.

I had already disabled double tap before posting here, but it was still dialing 911. Finally, I have put a screen protector film on and did NOT increase the screen touch sensitivity. Normally protective film manufacturers recommend increasing screen touch sensitivity after installing the film. Since then, it has not dialed 911 (knock on wood).
