All the time i am taking pics with rare camera having 10mp resolution only.
And the pictures taken with front camera having 3.8mp resolution only.

Just change the camera frame from 16:9 to 4:3 standard
Its because of the camera frame 16:9 is wide that is why the 3.8mp but 5mp is squarish so 4:3
Ok now i got it.

Bad camera quality at all

Hi
I have recently bought this s8+ that looks awesome in all his aspects from battery to performance. I also love the display. The only bad aspect I can see is the camera. When I take a photo it looks awesome ok, but if I do a double tap on it from the gallery I see that it's blurry, like an overcompressed jpeg. On my old g4 colours looks bad and all but when I zoom photos from gallery they wasn't so bad.
Is there a way to change the jpeg quality or not? I have a third party camera and they were better but I like the s8 camera app.
I am NOT rooted atm and I prefer actually to maintain my warranty. Thank you!!

is the 3x Zoom optical or digital ?

When I switch the 3x zoom it's not sharp at all and very grainy, if it optical it's supposed be very sharp,
Is anyone else having an issue with the 3x zoom on the camera ?

Do you have any quality issues using it ?
It's only an 8MP sensor
Did you take a pic? I've noticed that once I get to 6-8x the camera looks super grainy, but when you slide the brightness up or down it tends to make it better, and once the pic is shot the grain goes away and it looks like a normal picture.
Can't upload pics rn for some reason but the 3x looks slightly better than 2.9x with the main camera.

So the camera uses digital drop for 2.2-2.9x zoom?
It is a 2.2x optical system and it takes a "3x zoom" lossless crop out of the taken image, leaving an 8mp resulting image.

Recording Video from 5x Lens

Has anyone noticed that when you're shooting videos in the 5x mode you're not actually recording video from the 5x lens. You're recording from the 2x lens digitally zoomed in.
You can test this for yourself by putting your finger over the top lens while recording at 5x and see for yourself
Another fun fact for anyone who didn't know is the 5x lens is actually a 3.7x optical zoom. So if you want the very best quality photo you should pinch the cam to 3.7x as beyond that is digital
I'm using software 11.0.9 Global

I thought you can actually record video from 3.7x lens.
And fact that its "just" 3.7 is well known.
But very surprised about video recording. Real shame, wonder what it would look like.
That is true for the stock cam app. But if you install the opencamera app that is on this forum adapted to the mi note 10 you can use rhe 5x camera for recording video, as well as manual controls for focus and exposure, it works really well

Yeah, this Open Camera for Mi Note 10 helps a lot. But wonder, if anyone got it working in video mode using Gcam?
