Hi
I have recently bought this s8+ that looks awesome in all his aspects from battery to performance. I also love the display. The only bad aspect I can see is the camera. When I take a photo it looks awesome ok, but if I do a double tap on it from the gallery I see that it's blurry, like an overcompressed jpeg. On my old g4 colours looks bad and all but when I zoom photos from gallery they wasn't so bad.
Is there a way to change the jpeg quality or not? I have a third party camera and they were better but I like the s8 camera app.
I am NOT rooted atm and I prefer actually to maintain my warranty. Thank you!!

I
Want to purchase this device and i qould like to is the camera as bad as said in all the reviews your opinions are greatly appreciated
Main camera - Meh.. Great
Front camera - Epic... BAD
Main camera, good in daylight, not so good in low light conditions. Photos have a yellow-ish tint. Front camera is bad, but you should not expect much in the beginning.
thank u all very much

Can u please post a low light shot please I need a decent cam and I really want a Sony
If you want a decent cam get a more expensive Sony As I said, good enough in daylight, not decent enough in low light conditions. This means that if the photo quality is important to you, this cam will not provide it in low light (with ot without flash). I think the phone is great for the price, but I don't care much about the quality of the camera as I use it very rarely.
thank u

I think I made up my mind then
The camera got better with kitkat, but it's still nothing impressive. If you want a good camera, get a camera. Or pay way too much for minor upgrade in quality by buying a high-end phone.
Like a said in my review, Sony always made great cameras, remember very well of my X10 and Arc ,great cameras. Im very disappointed with M2, both cameras are terrible, dunno why they did that. I would never buy M2 if i were a photographer.
The camera itself (=sensor) is fine, what isn't are the post-processing settings. Just look at these photos:
Example 1: 4.3 stock app | non-stock app
Example 2: 4.3 stock app | non-stock app
All of them taken with an M2, but the non-stock app is clearly superior; not oversharpened and no weird noise (like ex2, upper left corner)
In my opinion, the camera has a problem, if there are light and dark olayes in the picture. An darker daylight room with an window. In this situation, the pictures are getting realy creapie.

What is this non stock app that you are using, please share how you set it up
@boro111: i'm using this one. I like the fact it offers saving to "raw" (.png) format, it's also the only one i saw so far that gives you control over the sharpness parameter, which i set to 0.
I experience poor picture quality on the pictures i take with stock app. I come from a Nexus 5 wich is recognized as having a poor camera and i had better picture on the Nexus. The picture is grainy in both light and dark environment. Colours is washed out. I use the hdr on auto. Resolution on the highest or the one below. I am comparing the pictures on the computer.
What is your experience with the camera?
Any tip to improve the pictures i take?

Outdoor photos with good light should not be grainy.try to focus better .indoor photos with low light are indeed a little grainy . try and experiment more in different light conditions . the camera is not top notch but for casual photos is ok. You need to spend some time with the camera to get used to it. It is the same camera as lg g3 maybe you can find more info in lg g3 thread.

Do you take pictures zoomed in? Under normal conditions and in the daylight the pictures shouldn't be grainy at all. In fact, I quite like them actually. IMHO best of all phones I've had in the past (see my sig) and it even takes usable pictures in almost total darkness (full moon, no flash).
I don't like the camera app, but that's a different story.
Thanks for your reply.
Do you use hdr or do you avoid it?

I left it to "Auto". IMHO it's quite smart and turns out better pics. Generally.
Lets face it, the M7 camera ap is not much to put in the christmas tree.
Hopefully you will also be able to get better photo result with a 3rd party app ?
Which maybe have better auto settings etc, better auto exposure ?
I have tried the google camera app a little... it is a lot faster then the m7 app faster interface.. but I see no direct
improvment/difference in photo quality. But the Google camera app is good enough to replace the mediocre M7 Camera app, but I am sure there is even better ?
a better camera. Don't know if the photos are better but more options/tweaks.
Hi
I dont understand why people are complaining about mate 7's camera so much. It is much better than my old LG G2's camera.
I am using stock camera with no tweak. Really happy with its performance. I am on holiday with my friends and as you guess i took tons of photos and selfies, all my friend praised my phone's camera as having a very good performance.
I have tried an app called perfectly clear it brings superior quality to the m7 camera in hdr realistic mode.. A must have now... Must good hdr apps cost money...
Down side with the app is that you must hold the of steady since the app takes two pics and merge them so it takes a few seconds longer to take the shot but it's worth it.
Please share your photos and experience!

As a G2 owner, I used my GF's GF2 to death when on holiday in Vegas for a week. The speed of the laser focus blew away my G2 in good lighting conditions but repeatedly failed to focus correctly in low light conditions. The G2 would take an age to focus but tended to get in right and produce good shots.
We tested this theory with both HDR and non HDR and the results were always the same.
If I was after a new phone and photography was really important to me, I'd go for the G4 or Nexus 6P. The GF's GF2 was using 5.1.1 so no excuses for the poor low light performance due to out of date firmware.
Damn, that's a pretty good photo. I almost never use my camera, so I don't have any cool photos yet.
Photo is attached
takes really good photos but with good light
if the object is near, focus is horrible

I am NOT rooted atm and I prefer actually to maintain my warranty. Thank you!!
Post a picture that you find blurry when zoomed in.

Make sure that the lens is free smudges and fingerprints when taking pics, but as stated best to show an example, my s8+ takes really decent pics
But why from another app they looks better? As I can see you cannot modify jpeg compression, on my phone they seems to be overcompressed..
you can try to install google camera app
