Hey guys, New to the HTC sensation threads (its my Girlfriends phone)
Got her this phone about 6 months ago - 1 week after having it she dropped it and broke the digitizer anyway i got that fixed at my local phone shop with aftermarket digitizer - it worked well but you could tell it was not genuine.
anyway the other week i dropped it and broke the lcd screen yet the digitizer is fine and the phone is still 100% useable - except the display looks awful.
Does anyone know if this is an easy fix, is it worth fixing myself or taking it to the phone shop - Im embarrassed to go back and explain how it has broke again lol.... But i need to get it fixed, Im so close to having my wang removed by my girlfriend.
I was wondering whether or not HTC themselves would repair it ? and maybe replace the digitizer too, I dont mind paying the extra £££ for genuine parts and to be fixed by genuine HTC repairmen..
Any ideas how i can get out this mess ??
sorry for the long post.
Thanks
Off course HTC will repair it, but it'll take longer and probably charge you a lot more than what you can it fixed for.
Out of curiosity do you/your girl not put the phone in a case or something?

Haha, no i did not.. But as soon as i get it fixed im gunna invest in a bulletproof / bombproof carbon kevlar box and keep it locked inside it !!!
Was it bought through a carrier or sim free? Could always take it to your carrier and see what they suggest, although they're not normally the cheapest, but at least it should get done properly.
Yeah i got it through vodafone, I think i will give them a call and see what they say.
I was considering taking out insurance, then in a few days call them and tell them its broken, This is risky.... what do you think the odds are with me getting away with it ?
Do you think they would notice the aftermarket digitizer ? It is an exact replica with HTC on it....
these damn phones are so fragile.... I miss the old nokias
EDIT: Seen this and am tempted to get it and fix it myself..... http://www.lingosbox.com/product_info.php?language=en¤cy=GBP&products_id=4769

No, you won't get away with it, and it's dishonest, anyway. Don't make yourself a criminal over a cell phone.
Now, that being said, check Ebay. There are lots of vendors in the UK and elsewhere (lots here in the US) that sell replacement screen kits, many of which include instructions and tools.
If you're handy with small tools and careful, you can do this yourself for a fraction of what it will cost you to have it done. I learned this when my kid's iPod battery died some years ago. They're not user replaceable, and Apple wanted some outrageous amount to do it, plus you had to send it away. I found a guy on line that sold batteries with tools and directions, and in 20 minutes, she was good as new.
Pays to do it yourself.

I totally agree with you !! i do not want to result to fraudulent behaviour... BUT, i dont want to pay approx £80 for parts and make the whole situation worse by possibly making more damage.
BUT i also dont want to pay approx £150 - £200 thinking i could of fixed it for much less by doing it myself.
I am good with stuff like that and am very gentle and careful..... but i dont believe in myself lol
I recently replaced mine. Its not too terribly hard to do. But you have to get it just right. Currently the digitizer is a bit slow and unresponsive at time but I think i didnt get it in there completely right. So I'm going to dissaimble is again today and get it suck in better and see of that helps

Since the Sensation screen is made by two different manufactures is it possible to mix and match them or do you have to replace the screen with the same one with phone came with? I have a Sensation that needs a LCD that I have not taken apart yet. Im wanting to get the better screen but im not sure if I can just put the better screen in it if thats not what it came with in the first place.

Well it's much better to replace it with the same display just to be sure it's going to work. There's also a side by side comparison of the Sharp and Acer (AUO) displays
That said, you can check what panel you have using the instructions on this thread:

The display on my phone is completely destroyed so I cant use terminal emulator to look it up :-(
EDIT: I was doing some research on the part numbers on the back of my screen and I found this thread...
http://pdaclub.pl/forum/sensation/dziwny-kurz-pod-dotykiem/
Post #8 has my same part number as mine (74h02057-00M) listed and in the same sentence AUO. So I have to assume it had the AUO screen which kinda sucks.

I dont even have a battery for it at the moment. When the battery arrives ill check it out. I have a feeling im not going to be able to get ADB working though.
I bought this!

Ill let you all know how it turns out....
Well I got the screen and digitizer from the link above today. Installed it and its perfectly fine. No lag anywhere, registers touch like the stock one did. The LCD panel seems to be the same quality as the AUO panel but thats fine with me since im pretty sure this phone came with the AUO from the factory. If you do decide to replace your screen and digitizer i suggest getting them as separate pieces. Having them attached to each other made it sorta difficult to get back together cleanly.

well the day after i got it fixed i knocked it off the side onto tiled flooring, it cracked the lcd but not the digitizer... so weird lol
anyway since then i have had some signal issues with my provider, they have established that the handset is faulty, they are collecting it to repair it.
I still havent had the screen fixed so im just going to see what happens when they go to repair it, Maybe they will think they broke the screen and fix it before returning it to me. Or maybe they wont.... if thats the case i will argue with them that it was fine before they took it away from me
after all, they must have 100's of these phones in boxes gathering dust in their warehouse(s) so a little arguing and im sure i will get it fixed / replaced.
Shhhhh Moms the word !!!

Hi, i am in desperate need of a lcd display for a 7 pro but they are seriously hard to get hold of!
I have looked on ebay and theres only ones from HK or China and even then the sellers feedback on screens is poor!
I have phoned countless repair shops in the uk and only a couple claim to be able to get hold of the screen but then demand that they fix the phone themselves and a stupid fee and will not supply the screen to me.
one thing i have noticed it that the touch pro 2 and 7 pro screens look identical apart from the colour of the ribbon that connects them to the main cable that goes through the slide body.
there is no visual difference between the screens or connector cables other thab colour and they have the same specs also-
480 x 800 pixels, 3.6 inches and a 259 ppi pixel density
Does anyone know if they are actually interchangeable or not? i cant find a screen anywhere and my wife is not pleased with me right now as ive only just got the phone and a broke the lcd trying to remove the digitizer even though i was ultra carefull and used lots of heat, please can someone help!!!!
Thanks, Steve.
Hello! To most simply answer your question, no. The screens are very different despite looking similar. The old TP2 screen is not multitouch and WP7 requires this. Also, the old screen utilizes a stylus while the newer 7 pro screen doesn't even recognize that type of touch.
It is your phone after all, so if you would like to try this that's your choice. However its too much effort to affix the ribbon to the pcb to even make it worth it. My old TP2 has a cracked digitizer which I have a replacement for, but the ribbon is machine pressed onto the pcb and reattaching this connection would be very difficult without the type of heat/pressure used in the manufacturing of the phone.
If you decide to try it let us know the results!
I'm sorry, I just seen you said the lcd itself, I thought you were meaning the digitizer screens.
That being said, maybe the swap will work, as long as they hook up the same?

i found a seller with genuine touch pro 2 screens who is willing to take it back if it does not work for me, i will let everyone know if it works!
I can confirm, the touch pro 2 screen does NOT work in the 7 pro, it is almost identical but the conector is at most 1mm wider than the 7 pro but its enough to stop if fitting into the socket
Back to the drawing board for me i guess.

not been on for a few days, thankyou for the link its still there and in europe!
I bought another 7 pro handset as i could not wait any longer, i had been forced back to my old Touch pro (raphael) and although not a bad phone and running a custom 6.5.3 rom , it just cant cope on the web anymore as all the standards have changed and nobody is supporting windows mobile anymore.
Its a shame cos windows mobile is by far a better operating system than windows phone, updated and running on better hardware it would have rocked.
even though i bought a new handset ive always intended on fixing the other one when i get the chance and have put a bid on that screen to remove the buy it now.
Fingers crossed that it dont go up in price, my wife will kill me if spend much more on these phones lol
once its fixed its going to go in its box and live in a safe place till ive worn out this new one, dont think i wll sell it, thanks for your help, you get a thanks meter point for this :good:
Steve.
You are welcome I was a little worried you might not get to the link fast enough but thankfully you did! I seen that and figured its a steal considering the lcd is nearly that price alone, plus all the work needed to change it. Good luck I hope you win it

as long as you get the right screen, theres no reason why you cant do it yourself, just go slow, very slow, read tutorials and be very carefull of all cables and boards inside. if it its the glass digitizer that is broken and not the whole display, be very very carefull when removing it from the lcd as theres a big chance of breaking the lcd as its removed, heat to relax the glue is your friend! if the glass is shatterd, removing the glass bit by bit instead of trying to remove it all at once may proove easyer and less risky on the lcd.
Good luck, steve.

Hi guys, yesterday i recieved my OPO and i noticed that there is a little dark point ( watchable only on white screen) which probably is a stuck or dead pixel. The point is very very little and amost unwatchable during normal use , but i m very finicky......what can i do? Is possible to obtain a replacement of the phone for only one pixel? Thanks for your suggestions!!!
Only OnePlus can answer that question, there's no point asking here because nobody here is an employee of OnePlus. If it is defective though, they should cover it under warranty.

But no one bere with a similar situation? Just no know if there is a possibility to obtain the change. I have already opened a ticket on OPO official site, but no reply at now.
Basic warranty policy states that if a device is defective out of the factory you are entitled to a replacement.

I have a dead pixel too - but honestly - is it worth making such a big deal out of it?! Why don't you just live with it and save you all the trouble? It's not worth it in my opinion - what if you get another device with a yellow band in exchange? That would be worse wouldn't it? There are bigger problems than just one dead pixel - if it were green all the time that would be much worse.

ugh I have the same situation with my new oneplus one, this didnt happen on my old one but there is a dead/stuck pixel near the top that is green usuallly very hard to notice but sticks out like a sore thumb on black backgrounds. i am just going to deal with it unless it gets much worse is there any way to fix it short of replacing the hardware?
my co-worker has 1 stuck pixel, like you, its only visible on a white background. OPO's defective policy is only for 3 pixels or more. he ended up selling it on craigslist for the price he bought it at.
I have the exact same issue and feel the same way, though I haven't bothered with a ticket yet because I feel lucky to even have one given the extremely short supply. They haven't made a specific statement on dead pixels in the FAQs, but here are a couple close ones:
What is your warranty & return policy?http://oneplus.net/support/answer/what-is-your-warranty-return-policy
What should I do if I receive a defective product?http://oneplus.net/support/answer/what-should-i-do-if-i-received-a-defective-product
Other than that, thishttps://forums.oneplus.net/threads/dead-pixel.68381/#post-3362283 is about the most useful statement I could find from any admin on the topic. >.<
You can also do like I might and wait for your shared invites to come in, use one to buy a new phone, then sell your current one on eBay or something. Just be sure to be honest about any issues with it. Given the low supply you'd probably still get darn close to retail for it.

Stuck pixel here
Though I bought the phone nearly two months back, got it only today from a friend travelling from the US as my country is unsupported yet for shipping.
I discovered a white stuck pixel that stays on in any damn screen when the phone is on.
Pete Lau was drumbeating so much about being very strict with quality, but if so many people are complaining about the screen, this is not good.
Depending on whether the pixel is actually dead (meaning it either gets no power or shortened) or stuck (crystal can't rotate) you may be able to revive it. There are applications for that purpose in the Play store that very quickly toggle through several colors in the hope of jiggling the pixel free - leave it running for a few hours and check if the screen is fixed.

Hello! Yes!
I have a stuck pixel at my opo. I can just give you one advise. Don't change it. Just don't care about those pixels and more important: Don't search dead pixels. I wad also like you, and so i ordered 3x htc one x, 3x galaxy s3 and all of them had dead pixels or stuck pixels. Also my galaxy s4 had one, and my lg g2! So every ****in phone has them. It's like a big joke and you need very good luck to get one without.
So now i have my opo, and also have 1 stuck pixel. But you know what, i don't care. You have to learn this.
Otherwise you'll be going crazy. Just be happy with your phone. In some time you will get another phone anyway.
So pfff.

Yup! Stuck pixel here, it appeared after having the device for less than a day, it's 1 red pixel, so it's not visible on white background. But dark background its right in my face.
I had a little cluster of white pixels on my m7, never really bothered by it.
The way oneplus handle this, I don't think I'll even bother to try to get a replacement device. Well, that's the price we pay for buying from cheap Chinese manufacturer.

You do know that "3+ dead/stuck pixels" is what major brands also require for replacement?
I bought a used Honor 8 that has a cracked front screen. It's tolerable but I've decided to get it fixed. The screen that is on now was a replacement screen. The lady told me that it cracked not too long after she got it replaced and that it happened without her dropping it or anything like that. She thinks that the person who replaced it, didn't know what they were doing. As of now, the phone works great but the screen isn't as bright as the original and seems to have burn in. I have thought about replacing it myself and wanted to ask, has anyone replaced their screen themselves? How'd it go? Would you recommend it? And if you got it replaced somewhere, what was the cost? How did it look like afterwards? I appreciate any and all answers!

Hello!
My screen is broken too. After a long search i've decided to order from Witrigs. There is only the custom screen available which is not as good as the oem one., but these are the best i could find from a reliable source. There is a video on the screens page which shows you how to install the new one. It will need some cheap equipment too to open the phone, like plastic-opening-card and case-opening-tool(the guitar one), yeah and don't forget the the LCD frame sticker. (and the suction cup, if you don't have any at home)
I'm still waiting for the parts to arrive, hoping that the screen's quality is acceptable compared to the original one. Also ordered a custom back panel because my got scratchy.
I'll write my experience about the screen and the repair when the parts arrive and assembled the phone.
Sry i wasn't able to post links because this is my first post here, but its easy to find them. For guide go for the video.
It's costed about 35$ with shipping and the back panel.

Hi. I have a Xiaomi Note 7 Pro for 4 months now . Woke up and the screen would not come on. It was freezing slightly the other day so i plugged in the charger to see if it needed a boost. Nothing. No notification light or anything. I keep my phone in a plastic/silicone phone case that i bought when purchasing the phone. I took the phone out of the case thinking maybe the port is being blocked by the case and tried charging it again and still nothing. Then i unplugged the charger and recognized that the plug was wet. Took out my sim tray and they are wet too. Now i never dropped my phone in any water at all. What could have caused this? Must I avoid phone cases? The phone will not turn on but when i try to turn it on it heats up. The first time i tried turning it on it vibrated a little then never again. Can someone please tell me what may have happened? That's US $300 gone down the drain. I literally cried cuz it was a huge sacrifice to buy that phone and I really loved it. I am located in Kingston, Jamaica. Help!!!

Nope. I am a very careful woman when it comes to my phones. I normally change phones when the Android gets old and certain apps can no longer work with it. That is how long phones last for me. I do not know how to swim and i do not keep phones in my pocket...i am against that idea all to complete. I am doing some reading and someone mentioned on another forum that TPU cases can cause heat build up and hence moisture will develop. Would that amount of moisture be enough to damage the phone? Because the case i had is indeed TPU. My environment is not very hot either. Nor too wet. Also I am left to wonder if I should avoid cases altogether...but i need to protect my phone. Mind you, i am not the clumsy type...but just very careful.
For that, first put it on Rice during 3 days or a week.
Then, try again to switch it on.

For that, first put it on Rice during 3 days or a week.
Then, try again to switch it on.

If it was in the rain then i would understand but it was never in the rain nor near a window for any rain to get to it. I doubt it can be saved again. Its been 2 days now and still nothing. It is not even heating up. Its completely gone. And to make matters worse, I cannot even make use of the warranty because it will cost me 1/2 the money spent to buy it to send it to Xiaomi for them to look at it or even try to repair it. Also, there is no Xiaomi distributor in Jamaica hence I cannot even try to have it repaired. Its a complete loss. Guess I will have to avoid these brands in the future since if there is an issue with the phone there will be little to no chances of it being repaired. Yes, i would have tried to repair it since i actually enjoyed the phone.

So its been a week now and i tried it again. The notification light finally comes on and was able to give it charge. Then I tried turning it on. It vibrated. And then notifications keep coming in. But.......no display. So it is working again but the display is gone. Is it worth trying to fix that? Often times I hear that repairing the display of a phone is almost the cost of a new phone. So im indecisive on this one. I bought a Samsung Galaxy S10+ as replacement. My only issue is that the camera for the Redmi is better but oh well...

If the only thing that's damaged is the display, you can get a cheap local replacement, it won't really matter( They usually replace the glass, the touchscreen is below that, but this phone's got Gorilla Glass 5, dunno how it would affect that). But if the water has affected a major component, booting the phone might have shorted it or damaged it further.

Ok. Well I hope nothing else is wrong with it. Also, it turns out there are repair folks here in Jamaica who repairs Xiaomi. I had no idea Jamaicans bought Xiaomi phones! Found out the cost to install the glass and its cheap to my surprise! Its my first so...you know.... Anyhow, now I need to force turn the phone off cuz all alarms keep going off at their time of day as well as notifications from the many apps I have keep coming in. Its getting annoying man. Its gonna take a while for the battery to die cuz trust me, it really does last long which is why I love this phone.
Anyway, many thanks for the help guys! Its greatly appreciated!

Glad to hear it ^_^
You can try again for another week on rice.
If there are repair center great, they could test connexions.
Otherwise, you can also search at YouTube for DIY screen replacement and find it in AliXpress.
