The U11+ is an excellent device but I would love to be able to use the full Pixel Experience on mine.
Would any developers be up for the task?

Hi!
Currently I have this device as my main option for upgrading my smartphone, but I'm looking for a phone which I can install 3rd party ROMs such as Lineage OS or Pixel Experience to prolong it's life.
For now this phone is selling a lot and looks promising when it comes having a good dev community.
Is this one a good choice or do you have any recommendations?
Thanks for your time
Probably not since its only for china/india. Also the main selling point of the phone, the camera, isnt as good as you might think. So just buy a Pocco, or wait a little more and see if they release new phones (Pocco2/Mi A3).
Most of the custom roms are being ported to other devices by Indian devs. So yes, there will be good dev support for this phone.

Yes, it already has pretty good custom rom support.
Both Pixel Experience and LineageOS have already been ported and made available on the RN7P, as well as a few others like crDroid and Havoc OS.
Personally I'm using crDroid as I was told it's a LineageOS based rom but with more customization options added in, and while I'm still tinkering around with it, there's definitely a lot of options.
It's also officially been ported and maintained, if that makes much of a difference compared to LineageOS being an unofficial port last time I checked.
hello, guys.
I don't have an opportunity to buy a Pixel, since it's really costly in my country, but i do like features they offering like call screen or they showed new assistant on recent I/O.
So right now i can afford either an android one phone(like Nokia 8.1 or wait for Xiaomi mi a3 release) or a OnePlus 6. So my questions are:
0) For Pixel owners: Are those features are worth it at all? Is there such thing called "pixel magic"? Like Pixels working better, no matter the hardware(i never heard about it from US reviewers, only from locals, so i suspect it might be just them feeling so special having a rare Pixel in our parts)
1) In your opinion, would those (as for now) pixel only features will come on other android devices and if so, which of the above would get them first?
2) You opinions on compering Android one and oxygen OS? Which one is better?
Thanks

"Better" is a relative term. The real answer is neither are better. One may be better for certain things than the other.
It is more of a matter of which one is better for YOUR purposes and usage.

I'm interested in this phone and wondering what custom ROM support may be like for the device? I had a quick look at the pixel 4 and it's not massively supported but I don't really know how recent or popular it is?
I'm currently using a Xiaomi mi9t with pixel experience+. I know the p4a will be similar if not the same minus the additional features added in the pe+ version, which I quite like tbh.
I know it's early days and probably most can't even get their hands on the phone yet but curious what you might expect based on previous pixel devices?
I would also be interested in this. The 4a's "stock" Android is fine, but there are very few customization options. For example, the setting to hide specific Satus Bar icons is available in Settings but greyed out and inaccessible. I would really love to install LineageOS on this device.
As for popularity, the Pixel 4 was expensive and had poor battery life, so I don't think it had many adopters. The 4a on the otherhand is a steal at $350 and in a post-COVID world, I can see many people who need a new device going for the budget option. I really hope this helps us build a large development community
I plan on staying stock for a few weeks, but rooting and flashing roms is a weekly thing for me. I'm sure there will be plenty fairly quickly. Our codename is "sunfish", right? Much better than my current dumpling.

One of the main developers at DU got one, it's a safe bet ROMs will be available
I would be super shocked if this device does not get any rom support as popular as it is. I believe a couple of devs have said they will start developing roms.
Im currently lokking for a new phone to replace my Xiaomi Mi Mix 3. I was really disappointed to see mod support drop after a couple of months after release so this became a factor considering when buying a new device.
Which smartphone got the most regularly updated custom roms?
Which productline is known for longtime support?
Which company is known to support modding?
Best Regards

I agree, of all phones in the past the Google Pixel received the most custom development and custom roms.
Of today's generation, I think the OnePlus 6T might be contender. That thing is a tank and great to develop for.
ok thank you guys
Nexus's had many in it's day! Now the OnePlus series does well...
Small question, but I suspect that it is going to need a big answer.
First of all, I would be happy if there is a site or post that already did the comparison, and I would be quite happy if someone would link the site or post as my Google-fu might have been inadequate.
I also realise that I am comparing a stock ROM and custom ROM. I custom ROM sometime has the advantage of getting support by community developers for longer.
But keeping in mind that I do use various Google Apps (and would therefore install some form of GAapps with Lineage), I was wondering if there are certain features in Lineage I might miss in the Pixel UI, or vice-versa (for instance, if I was to install GCam on Lineage and use it on a Pixel phone, would I get the same thing as I would with Pixel UI?).
And while I am at it.. is the Pixel Experience to the Pixel UI the same thing as say, stock MIUI ROM and xiaomi.eu, or is something very different under the hood?
Thanks.
