I am planning to buy the s6, my country has the 920I model. My question is will there be enough rom support for this variant? As I see the 920F is the global variant, and it will get major support from rom developers. Will the 920F roms run on the 920I version too? I read somewhere that the Roms for the F version can be flashed on the I version by modifying the updater script. Most s5 and Note 4 users follow the updater script technique. How safe is it ? Will there be support from roms like (Liquidsmooth, Temasek, Crdroid, Beanstalk, Slim, DirtyUnicorns, Euphoria)? Any input is appreciated
You will find support limited at best. Most developers will not developer for Samsung devices unless they have the Qualcomm chip which we all know the S6 doesn't. So you may get some support but I know almost for sure that DU won't support it.

Lol. I had a s3, exynos chip and DU supported it although I do not like DU. Well, the good thing is that there is no snapdragon variant, so ROM support will be universal. The question is the global version is 920F, and there will be a 920I version in my country. Will the F version roms be install friendly on the I version? I saw the note 4 forums and some people were able to flash roms by changing the updater script.

That was when people trusted Samsung. Once They lied to people about offering the Documentation on the device so roms would work properly people walked away from them.
Will they be universal? No one can say for sure until they start getting the devices. The updater script works but you run a huge risk when doing something like that.

well, Looks like I dont have many options then. I cannot have my Nexus 6 because of Uneven display, I can buy the one plus one but it is a year old. There are no good developer friendly phones out there

So what if it is year old? The hardware is still good. Heck my 2 devices are 3 and 4 years old.
There are many great developers devices still out there. The newest device is not always the best device. But if your looking for a device that will most likely see lots of development then you could look at the m9.

Naah, not htc. You do have a point, even if it's a year old it is still a good device and reasonably priced almost half that of n6 with double storage capacity. I heard rumors of oneplus two coming this april. I dont know how true those are but looks like opo is the best option to go with right now, it has a lot of rom development going on.

I heard it is as well. I have been keeping an eye on them for a while and almost bought one but after they got some of the PA team to work on the rom I changed my mind.
why so little development for z11? zte won't release kernel sources? nobody has bought it? it's too early? i find it to be a very interesting device, only software is not the best thing around....
by the way, i love brightness gesture on this z11, do you think it could be ported to other phones?
I currently own the Z7 mini and since ZTE releases fairly standard hardware, I expect the ROM-support to be more or less the same. Not too many ROM's but the most important like CM are there so it will likely be the same for this phone.
I was going to buy the Honor 8 but since there is no good chance at all that solid custom roms will be released for this phone, I am currently looking into the Z11. Beautiful design and the phone receives good reviews so I think I'll give it a shot.
I took the plunge and bought one on Ebay, UK seller arrived on Tuesday (18th Oct) after ordering on the weekend.
Stunning handset, I've had all this years mainstream 'flagship' handset (S7, G5, HTC 10), none of which really hit the spot for me (closest was the S7), i'm a fussy user, i love the fingerprint sensor on the rear but with capacitive buttons on the front. The screen is fabulous with the 1080p LCD nearly as good as the S7 in my opinion. The Bezel-less design is superb.
Only 2 minor issues for me with the Z11, the 2nd capacitive button is old school 'menu' rather than a button that goes to all open apps no percentage option for the battery in the status bar!
If i were really really picky i'd have the same thing but with a 5-5.2" screen so it fits for comfortably in the palm, it's not too big but i do prefer the S7 size (told you i'm fussy).
Nubia UI is so so, certainly not the worse but i use Action Launcher 3 so it's no issue for me.
I'd thoroughly recommend this to all.
Hi everyone. I just discovered this place and I am hoping to find what I need here. Your assistance is greatly appreciated. I just bought a Nubia Z11 6/128. It is a great device but the software leaves a lot to be desired. I am looking for someone in Dubai who can install a decent custom ROM for my Z11. I have no clue how to do it myself or where to even start. Is there anyone there???? Thanks.

How long it last on battery?

For me is International, because I need LTE B20!
Given the experience with using one of the Xiaomi's handsets, I have to say that the ROM developed by this company, as miui, is really great. Is it possible to develop a miui ROM for the htc u11 phone?
You mean the iPhone clone, I haven't seen it in the last few HTC devices.

Exactly, haven't seen one in a few HTC devices. Don't think a iPhone looking OS is popular on Android.

It's more the proprietary hardware in HTC devices makes porting it a nightmare. S7 and S7 Edge have it and MIUI is much more than just an iPhone skin, I used it on my Inspire 4G and it was the most butter smooth experience possible on that phone besides plain AOSP and it had a lot more functionality than any other ROM did. I would seriously consider unlocking my U11 if MIUI dropped.

That's exactly what you mentioned. That's why I was very interested in using a miui rum on my u11. This rom offers a lot of features along with very low battery consumption and combining it with the hardware features of u11 can make a great potion.
Any news?
Coming from the Nexus 5x and there are many Oreo roms..so i was wondering why there ist noch Oreo Rom for the Pixel..? And dont get me wrong..i have no problem with that..Just wonderering
With Kind regards
Ah..OK..after some reading..the first step is not really good finished yet..custom Recovery and root.
Wow..never was thinking that root and other stuff will be so complicated as on an iPhone to get it Jailbreaked
Are we in the point that google want that we just use our phones..?
Then we dont need sources and others...
..sorry..but i must write it down here..and hope to get some answers..
.. because the way to get all things done..from the HTC desire (bravo with Android 1-2) till the Nexus 5x and Samsung s6 was always the same..and now this..
I have for sure some Experience to look behind some curtain..but atm i am a bit frustrated
Root is no problem, fastboot boot to TWRP and install it.
This phone is much more challenging than other handsets due to the fact Google has implemented dual booting partitions. It also seems they aren't as interested in the developer community now that they are making their own phones and not just putting out an OS for Android. So, this handset isn't as friendly for devs, except for those who are really into masochistic behavior (self punishment). If you're looking for a really robust developer community you probably should stick to Samsung or a few other manufacturers and avoid Google for the foreseeable future.
Just my thoughts.
Really unbelievable that there are no ROMs due to those issues.
Will sell my Pixel and keep my Nexus 6P
I'm thinking of selling my pixel and getting a oneplus 5, or waiting to see how the modding scene evolves for the razor phone.
Truly disappointed the pixel line didn't follow on from nexus devices.
I will do so.
Got my pixel used and defective, Google will replace it for free so I will be able to sell it as new.
Would it be possible to install substratum and xposed framework?
Thought of getting nexus 6p,but bought the pixel thinking that it would get more development..
now I'm regretting that decision..?
I would of thought there would be possibly some way of reformatting the partition size or even changing partitions completely

for that ..S-off is needed..but a great idea through
Really funny how things have changed. It wasn't that long ago that if you wanted a phone that was easy to root, and had tons of developers, with tons of ROM options, you got a Nexus. Now that the Pixels are here, it's just the opposite.
The only saving grace is Google will continue supporting the pixel until October 2019 so I'm not going to be stranded with a phone I can't update.
Got the XL as a warranty replacement for my almost 2 year old 6P that had battery dying issues.
I do like the XL, have it rooted with Magisk, just waiting for Pure Nexus. If revo gets Xposed working Oreo, may not go custom rom at all.
Not many things the phone can't do that requires custom
bootloader unlock and custom kernel if required for some tweaks, however
pure android is actually freaking lovely
is any other device on oreo? let alone 8.1 (if you have beta)

Quite a few devices are getting both official and unofficial 8.0 updates. As far as 8.1 I'm pretty sure it's still in beta so it's only available for the Google family of devices as there is no way to look into the source of the beta and try to compile it for other phones.
There are more issues than the A/B partition scheme that these phones have:
1) They are extremely expensive so there were not too many people who bought them in the first place
2) There are a lot of people and devs who have sold their Pixels for Pixel 2's
3) Project Treble which sounded like a good idea has actually caused more problems for this phone for custom development, which did not affect any Nexus models. All the kinks related to this need to be worked out too as it is a new issue as of Oreo
You will see some rom action in the foreseeable future though

How would you rate the Pixel against the Nexus 6P?
Is it worth the upgrade?
I got a broken 6P for 80€ and a broken Pixel for 180€
Both were replaced (Nexus against Nexus, cause it was bought from 3rd party and not Google).
Nexus would sell for 250€, Pixel for 400€

I miss my 6P, thought it was an awesome phone but the battery issue SOT of 2 hours after 2 years was killing me. Got the XL as a warranty replacement for virtually nothing, so it was a win-win.
Once the custom roms roll out, it will rival or exceed the 6P, I have no doubt.
I'm a pro full stack developer who got addicted to ROM flashing in the early days of Android. So naturally I started to port the Pixel 2 ROM to the HTC u11+, it's booting and the usual stuff seems to work.
Asking around here if there are any community interest in a Pixel port? If so I will add it to the ROM section.
Current status is to be considered PRE-ALPHA [emoji23]

Would be kind of ironic to see something like this given the fact that the U11+ was supposed to be the Pixel 2 XL this year.
Let's make it happen and show Google how wrong they were to pick LG in the last moment.

Especially with all the issues that phone had and is still having! LG really screwed up with the phone, and Google should be ashamed of letting them mess up their flagship.

Very interested, best hardware paired with best software is win win!
System partition cant be flashed with the current twrp thats available, so help me understand how you were able to "boot" this port.
Hey there,
Would there be any capacity for things like enabling VoLTE on specific carriers? This is one thing Im desperately missing as my carrier doesnt stock the 11+ and thus HTC firmware doesnt have provisions for my network. Other ROMs have cooked in support for other HTC handsets in certain custom roms.
Interested nevertheless
I'm all in !
So what's the plan?
