Hello all,
Microsoft announced support for the OnePlus 6 in their "Your Phone" app (on PC) through the "Your Phone Companion" app (on Android). It is supposed to let us see recent pictures, notifications, send messages and remote control (somewhat). https://www.xda-developers.com/windows-10-screen-mirroring-oneplus-6-6t-galaxy-s10-note-8/
I have mixed results, where I can send a SMS through my PC but I don't see my contacts, so I have to type their number in manually. I also can't see any recent messages or pictures. Also, if I turn my VPN on, then the Windows app just cannot see my OP6.
Has anyone succeeded in syncing their OP6 with their PC using Microsoft's apps?

Are you on Windows 10 build 18885? Idk if it came out of insider program or not yet
If not, then just wait for the official update to roll out to exclude any bugs that microsoft recently been strugling, or just opt in insider

Hi guys, just had a quick question. I've done my searching on both Google and XDA and I'm posting this thread as a last resort.
I'm on build 7720 and I can't seem to figure out how to set up the integrated messenger. When I slide over to the "online" section in messaging it says there is no one online when clearly I have a few people online. How do I get my contacts to show up in the "online" section?
P.S. It's been like this on all 3 builds of Mango for me.
Thanks for any input guys!

1) First question is, have you put yourself online in the status menu?
- Pull up the action bar, tap the status button, then tap 'online'. This will actually connect you and show you as online.
If you are online, then:
2) Do you have the right Windows Live ID sync'd?
- The integrated messenger app will only connect to the PRIMARY Windows Live ID. So you need to make sure that the Live ID you have set up with your phone initially (the one set as your main) is also the one you use for your Windows Live Messenger contacts.
If you have the right Windows Live ID, then:
3) Try adding a new contact and seeing if that contact appears on the phone.
- Add a new contact, preferably one not on your contact list currently, to see if the person shows up on your phone. Sometimes, it may simply be a sync'ing or provisioning error on Windows Live's end, and it may not be your phone. If this helps, you may have to remove your previous contacts and re-add them to allow Windows Live to provision them properly for your phone.
Then, if you are having issues with your Facebook contacts as well:
4) Contrary to popular belief, your Facebook contacts (or Twitter/LinkedIn contacts) not appearing is not a Windows Phone bug. Its simply a server side error with Windows Live and Facebook. Both of them need to sync up with your Windows Live ID, and sometimes that takes a while (from a couple hours to a couple days). In some cases, it doesn't happen at all, and a hard reset may be necessary to give Windows Live and Facebook a wake up call, but even this does not always work.
If all else fails:
5) Then unfortunately we can't be sure why its not working. Microsoft does not provide support for beta software so we probably won't see any real solutions until Mango is finally released and other people start reporting this issue. So you may be out of luck. Try a different Windows Live ID to see if that works, check to make sure your contacts haven't blocked you (or you blocked them). Or just wait it out and see if the Windows Live servers resolve it in time.
Hope it gets fixed for you. It has worked flawlessly for me ever since the first beta (though it did take a couple of hours for my contacts to show up initially), so its certainly not a Windows Phone issue.
Is those ppl tht is online, shows up in ur address book?

Thanks for going in depth with this! It worked after I signed out of messenger and signed back in. I'm guessing it had to reconnect for some reason.
Thanks again!
Only works on wifi
Hi,
I have a different problem... for some reason I can only connect to the messenger service when I am on a wifi network? It won't work over the cellular network even with a hsdpa connection? It just says "Can't connect to chat".
Anybody else have this problem?
I'm using a Dell Venue Pro Build 7720 on Vodafone UK.
are you using it on a work network? maybe they are blocking IM.
I use it on wifi...
sometimes i have problems from live (on the phone) to my office's Lync server.. but that might just have been in the beta.
Working
I figured it out last night and yes your right, it was the network blocking it. I turned off content control with Vodafone and now it works.
I have a HTC HD7 with mango, but although I have a hotmail account (which I use for MSN) it only gives me the options to sync emails, and I cant find anyway to enable messenger on it, anyone know how this is done on mango? or if it is even possible?
Im sure it supposed to work like the facebook chat but i dont appear to have an option for it (my facebook chay DOES work).
It's not in the settings as it's activated by default. Just change your status in the messaging hub to anything but "Offline"" and you should see your Messenger contacts that are online.
tried that but it doesnt show any of my msn contacts, I even tried playing around with my filter options (for the people hub contacts) and none of my MSN buddies or in the list.
also when you press the icon with the 2 arror buttons (left/right arrows) it only gives options of TXT and Facebook, it foesnt give a messenger option.
i have the same problem on my HD7. the 'onlline' tab only shows my friends from facebook chat and not WLM.. and i dont know why
is your windows live account the one you used to sign into the phone? go to home.live.com and see if you can see and chat with your friends online via hotmail....
After I updated to mango I had to hard reset my phone and everything worked.

Yup that might help too. Also have to make sure the MAIN Windows Live ID that your phone is signed into is the one you use for Messenger. If you've added additional Windows Live IDs, you'll get e-mails/calendar/contacts..etc but not Messenger.
It works reasonably well for me (the first message you get in a convo has an annoying tendency to to go the phone and not to the PC, which is a pain if you're signed on to both at once. The real problem, though, is that it only works with the primary WLID. Such a waste of a good feature.
I just came from Android, and can't seem to find an app that I can text my contacts from the PC through my phone. Android has a few apps to do this DeskSMS and MightySMS.
Does Windows Phone have a similar app? I can't find one.

if you have a keyword with bluetooth facility then you just need to connect your phone with keyboard through bluetooth and you can start type text my contacts.
I think is referring to actually being able to send sms from a pc via internet. This is a great feature on Android and one of the only things holding me back from switching to the 1020.
I was having some trouble with Skype so I did some test today.
Logged in with:
- account A on my macbook, desktop client version 6.19 (452)
- account B on my nexus 5, mobile client version 5.0.0.51733
> Everything works fine, calls and messages.
I sign out from the Nexus 5 (the "Sign in automatically" option is NOT checked), I still see account B online on the macbook. I try to call it, it does not work of course, I sign in again on the Nexus 5 and I see the missed call.
I suspect some issues with Skype mobile (both Android an iOS) with Sign out and maybe the fact that on mobile operating system there is some sort of "auto-hibernation".
That would explain why sometimes I call people who seem to be online and the call fail. No issues with the desktop client, only people with a smartphone or a tablet.
The only workaround I found in the meantime is to set my status to Invisible on the Nexus 5.
I would happily uninstall this application, but it's hard to migrate the whole family...
Do you experience the same issue? Any idea how to solve this?
Hello. You can use these two commands to check what devices you are currently logged in on Skype:
/showplaces - shows you what devices are currently "online" on your account
/remotelogout - logs you out from all devices except the one you post this command from
Just type them in any chatbox inside skype. Don't worry, they are visible just to you.
So, I noticed that when I mark an e-mail message as read on my computer (Outlook 2013), the app on my phone is not removing the notifications or even marking the messages as read automatically. I have to go and manually refresh in the app to mark them as read, thus removing the notifications at the same time.
When I do it the oposite way, marking as read in the app, the desktop client picks up on this and updates the status right away.
Instead of trying a lot of app's myself, I try my luck here. Just in case anyone has had the same problem and has an app to recommend.
The ones I've tried are Outlook for Android and BlueMail.
Im using a Nexus 6, fully OTA updated. The account is an exchange account like the title suggests.
The app should have quiet hours, but this is not a dealbreaker.
