Its just me or someone notice that the screen does move left/right a little bit?
Not much but still, that wobbling pretty annoying for me.

left to right? meaning on landscape, its normal because its the sliding behaviour.
but when it wiggles on both sides when in landscape. then its the sliding mechanisms fault.
i eliminated that using the Beatle case.

yes. common problem for users, i guess the engineers didn't taught it through
Same problem here... Very annoying but don't notice it with the case which is always on. Can't really send it back to China with a custom rom and get a new unit.
Just received mine and same issue. Not sure if I want to return it or not. I'm concerned it could get worse over time.
...its a slider phone...it slides
Haven't noticed that it gets worse yet. Constantly fiddling with the slider. Using a case you don't notice it at all.
Honestly can't believe this is actually a topic, it's a slider phone and for the ability to slide there can't be any friction (basic physics). So of course there will be slight wobble as is the nature of the design.
The Honor Magic 2 seems to slide without any wobble.

Duncan seems to think it's not possible to design a sliding phone with no wobble. I'm just pointing out that it is. Different phone, better design.
Hi,
Right there in France, my Mi Mix 3 wobble out of the box. A gap can be guessed between screen and body when hold through the light, may be half a millimeter.
Many people outlined this on Xiaomi forum, but not everybody knows this, others found it few weeks after use while fixation might loose a little.
Nevertheless, right now I can compare my Mi Mix 2 and my Mi MIX 3. The new screen is so gorgeous compared to the more yellowish and a bit washed Mi Mix 2 screen, and better balanced with its elongated shape. I am already in love.

A good solid tight case and the wobble disappears
I see that they have confirmed 100000 flips. 28 flips per day for 5 years. The problem is, I'm pretty sure that we're going to use more than 28 flips a day e.g. face unlock, manual flip control, Instagram stories, video calls, taking multiple front video clips (vloggers) etc. I'm a bit worried about it failing in 2 years. So would it be durable enough for the long run?
Only way to find out is waiting 2 years I guess, it's hard to judge. In case Asus messes things up and they start to break everywhere then that would not only hurt Asus's image but also overal all motor controlled camera's.
I personally think it would be fine, perhaps a iFixit rating would soften the blow if they would deem it easy to repair.
That would likely suggest it has ~10% chance of failure after 100,000 flips, and very, very few people would average more than 25 a day over 2 years.
The mech looks well designed, to me.
However if you drop your phone a lot, this probably isn't the device for you.
I'm really not worried at all.
I think the YouTuber JerryRigEverything is gonna do a test on the durability of the camera in the next few weeks, since he's already pre-ordered it.
That being said, it should last for 2-3 years when most users would be onto another phone, and it doesn't seem like it will break anytime soon.
I'm not actually worried, I'm just a bit concerned about longevity.
I already spotted a video on youtube of a guy having one where the camera would not return flat properly already, but it was in spanish so hard to understand.
I'm more worried about dust, lint, and other flotsam and jetsam getting behind, beneath, and alongside the mechanism thereby causing it to gunk up and either not open, or not close properly. I'll stick with my OnePlus 6 non-T version.

True, the OnePlus 7 pro has a rubber ring around the base of the pop up camera. The zenfone 6 doesnt have any kind of water protection. So that might be an issue.

Until we see a tear-down, I wouldn't be so sure that there isn't any protection. I've heard it's at least splash resistant which I think most models are these days. One thing is not having IP certification but you don't need that to make rudimentary rubber seals.
Of course it'll be difficult to do especially with how much of it is exposed. It's definitely easier for the 7 Pro because pretty much all of it is internal.

Stepper motor!
We all have to wait for a proper teardown of zenfone 6.
But I am sure the liquid cool metal stepper motors are quite durable.
Company claims 28 selfies everyday for 5 years.
We'll have to wait a little until we get to know how reliable is the flip camera. But it feels reliable and strong from what I've seen so far

As far durability is there but problem is dust accumulation and hinge is getting loose (not getting fully retract).
I was skeptical about the durability but so far camera is sturdy.

After almost seven months of operation, I see absolutely no difference from how it worked the first day.
I got my phone on 5July 2019 and till date it's working flawlessly. Even it once fell into road side drain and was fully sunk in water for about 8-10sec but it runs buttery smooth and thus the camera.
IMO this phone is just superb and much more better than Chinese ****s like Vivo, OP, Oppo, Xiaomi etc

There is a lot of post on reddit...you can search it. I made a video to show the issue.
Google is sending me a new phone....I hope it have no issues.

People on reddit seem convinced that because their phone doesn't work then no phones work, and google sucks and why don't google listen to me, and i'm getting an iphone.
I put a case (spigen tough armor) on my phone and I can't hear a squeak. Maybe if I took the case off and tried to squash my phone I'd hear a squeak, but why would I want to do that? I wouldn't have thought there'd be much give; it's unlikely to be a case of "first it squeaks and then it breaks" because you can't push it that far. Perhaps if you pushed it really hard.... But it reminds me of the old joke "Doctor, it hurts when I do this"..."Well, stop doing it then".

sorry....the intersting part is not the quality of comments but the quantity of issues. My phone creaks near the sim slot. Now my phone is in my pocket and my poket is squeaking while i am walking....
Fortunately, after a discussion, seems google freeze my 15 day s period for "satisfied or refunded" policy: if my second pixel is creaky i can return it because is
definitely a production problem. I love my pixel 4a....but creaky is not acceptable for me.

Right, yes that doesn't sound good!
Despite the negative commentary your device clearly has a build problem and should be managed under warranty. While I always use a case (spigen) that should not be an expectation unless specified by manufacturer and included with device.
FWIW - I do not have that issue (phone still feels solid sans case) but also use & carry it in a manner that rarely flexes the body/frame.

it start creaking after ~1 week. I use it normally and don't use skinny jeans. Seems like...it have no glue on border or missing pin on plastic case....
Today it start creaky sound near power button....
Mine creaks sometimes but its a budget device made out of plastic. Can't be expecting flagship level build quality.

Respectfully disagree. Used lower end Moto phones for years, some half the price of the 4a. Never had a build quality issue (might have got lucky too). Plastic can be fine if overall structure is properly engineered. So far no issues with my 4a but it also rides in a protective case.
this is my second pixel after RMA:
Well, mine is also making hardcore creaking sound when being pushed between the buttons. Feels like I can shove it 1mm inside. But nowhere else do I get noises. Don't like that...
Mine is creaking real bad near the power button....returned and got a new one from amazon...so far so good, fingers crossed considering this issue seems to popup after a week or two of use

firste device...1week and second device only 3 days without creaky
Hi,
my Pixel started creaking near SIM card tray after cca 1 week. It is not that annoying currently but if it gets worse, I will consider RMA.
Anyway, I may as well live with it for the next year, 1,5y and only then do RMA Free new phone every 2 yrs - not bad
creak near the camera seems common, people claiming no creak might be using cases, because it doesn't creak in a case.
and the creak is not an issue more of an annoyance, which is fine with me.
One day after voting my device started creaking. Suddenly the device feels really cheap
anyone know how to fix this creeky issue? i
Yes buy a Motorola, which funnily enough Google bought then sold just to strip the patents. BUT unfortunately they didn't steal the build patents!... Sigh... More money than sense.
the creaking stopped thankfully, hope it stays that way, also got a case
My pixel 4a was making noise when pressing in the back under the camera and between the power and volume buttons, as well as over the power button. I ordered a replacement from Google but after few days, the same noise at the same location came back on the new device.
Despite I love this phone, I wouldn't have bought this device if I knew about this issue. I believe this is due to a bad internal design plus the heat of the CPU (actually the heat comes from the same area as the noise, so this could be what is destroying the glue of the case).

Did you do something? Or it simply stopped?
Greetings, so I have been a proud owner of the ROG series since the beginning, I have owned the original ROG, and currently I still own the ROG 2 & 5. I haven't owned the ROG 3 because it wasn't much of an upgrade from the 2 and there were compromises as we all know with the headphone jack,.. etc.
Up until the ROG 5 the bezels of all the ROG phones were symmetrical, but not the case with the ROG 5. I am drawn to symmetry especially when it comes to phones, I hate unsymmetrical bezels or phones with notches thats why I keep avoiding flagship phones because none meet my preference (I know it's not a big deal but in my case unfortunately it is).
So coming back to the headline, I have measured the top and bottom bezels and the bottom bezel is smaller by almost a 0.5 mm - 1mm. I have been noticing it since the moment I got the phone but I kept doubting it until I measured it, also i didn't believe ASUS will do it since there was no justified reason for them to do it in the first place (Disappointed honestly because I love this phone dual speakers design out of all the ROG series).
Anyway I wanted to point it out for those people interested, since I haven't found any mention of it in any thread or website.
Device:
ASUS ROG 5 ( Chinese model CN_1005D)
12GB/128GB version
P.S : I added a photo of my phone scanned, then i measured it in Photoshop. This is what it turned out to be (As accurate as i could be ) ( A difference of 0.6 mm)

How can it be a defect, just by looking at the bezels from every angle you will notice that they aren't identical, now regarding the difference in measure I could be off but it's =<0.5 mm.
tyfor me it's perfectly even

You answered your own question. Your bezels aren't identical.
Got out a ruler just to make sure and mine are a perfect 1 : 1 match.
@Rashad83 I always thought I was the only one
None of my friends ever understood my problems with most phones and their notches/punch holes and bezels.
I would rather have exact same bezels than a larger screen ratio.
Anyway back to the topic: thanks for your information. From the pictures it looked perfectly.
The first picture with the stickers on the display might seem off because the adhesive wasn't sticking but the drawn line is correct I assure you. I hate to say it but they aren't identical 100% sure!
So this is the bottom bezel with the sticker on it.
Now I took the bottom sticker and placed it on the top bezel, you can clearly see they aren't identical.

I am happy for you if that is the case, but still I can't believe it's a defect because as I understand it these displays come out from the same mold used to create all the ROG 5 displays. Basically I couldn't be the only case with this issue, it's either all the ROG 5 devices are suffering from this issue or I am one of the few( Maybe not a few, will have to see) suffering from this issue.
Anyway thanks for the feedback.

I never said you were the only case. Your issue would likely be an entire run (or location). I get that you are worked up about it, but a defect can be in the mold. It's still a defect.
What may be helpful is to post where you bought it and which version. There are two that work in the US, so this may be something that sways people if it only applies to one of them.

Thanks for the tip, the version I own is the Chinese version/model, i bought it locally so it wasn't shipped to abroad. The funny thing is that this is my second unit, the first unit I bought had scratches on the charger head so they replaced it for me. By the way I bought it from ASUS online official store.

That's actually really interesting. I know mine is Tencent, but it came with the WW firmware. I wonder if Taiwan got a separate manufacturing location.
So this topic got me interested in comparing other ASUS ROG 5 screen bezel sizes. I found this clear sample from Androidauthority Website , credits go to them .
I measured the length of the top (0.28 CM) and the bottom bezel (0.26 CM) in Photoshop, which results in a ratio of (1.076923076923077 : 1).
Now by my phone measurements the top bezel from the top speaker to the start of the display i get a measure of (~0.5 CM). Now if we multiply the ratio by the size i got, the bottom bezel should be (0.4642857142857143 CM). So a difference of ~ 0.4 MM.
Either way this proves that they aren't identical, It's not a big deal or a shocking discovery. None the less it's good to know for people wondering.

Starting to sound like an old cigarette commercial. That extra whatever millimeters longer
I wouldn't be surprised if it is intentional. The more I was thinking about it, the screen protectors have a black top and bottom that partially cut into the screen. The manufacturer just assumes they are identical and ends up covering it up. That would explain varied results.
The camera in the top likely requires just slightly more space. The screen has to be a specific size, but they might not have been able to make the phone any taller. Rather than make the screen smaller or put the camera into the screen, you end up with slightly different sizes.
This phone could use even more top & bottom bezels if you ask me! If you use it for gaming with max touch responsiveness, you know what I'm talking about - a lot of accidental touches around the lower corners in landscape. Not cool when gaming. The area block function in A-Crate doesn't work for me.
In addition I wish the display corners were just good old full size square corners instead of being as rounded as they are.

I cannot agree more. Unfortunately there is no newer phone that meets these requirements. However the rog 5 is the least guly one in my opinion.
I hope that "no bezel", Notch, Punch hole trend with rounded corners ends as soon as possible.

I was also excited about the Pixel Fold but it appears to be more of a Surface Duo form factor with a quite wide outer screen and smaller than ours inner one. On the bright side, once the Pixel Fold is released, someone will surely port its software to every other foldable out there including the Mix Fold 2.
