Media on SD Card takes too long to load - Sony Xperia XZ Premium Questions & Answers

Ever since I updated my XZ Premium to Android Pie, whenever I restart my phone it has to reload all media files in the SD card and it does take a while as I have most of my media stored in the SD card.
Does this happen to anyone else? Is there any way to fix this?

[Help] Can't move apps to SD card ...

Hello
So i have a little problem which is really anoying ...
I'm running the lastest stock FW which is Jelly Bean 4.1.1, and my device is rooteed ( i updated with OTA RootKeeper) and i'm sure i'm rooted because somes apps that requires root are working perfectly.
I have tried every single app on the market that would allow me to move my apps to the SD card but no success, every app fails ...
Any idea on how to fix this ?
Thanks in advance

Look for link2sd on the market. This app will move your apps to your sdcard then create a reference point for the OS to find the app. The draw back is it's a little technical to set this up. You need to create 2 partitions on your sd card, first partion is fat32 to store your normal stuff and the second partion formatted with ext4 for the apps. Currently there is no other app can move app to sd.

Why would you need it anyway? 32 or 64 GB of space not enough for apps?

I believe this only for game data only not regular apps! Also not all games will work with this.

Well, let's say that some apps requires a certain patch that only works when the patch is applied to an app that has been moved to the SD card :fingers-crossed:
You can also use the app directory bind to do this on ICS or JB.
With large apps like GTA3, GTA Vice CIty, and Madden, even with a 32g card being able to move large apps to sd would be a godsend. Its making my god tablet slow being filled up. Be nice to find a workaround...

[Solution] [Marshmallow] App disappears after reboot

I am using Android one device running stock marshmallow, which brings in new feature to use ur external storage as phone storage.
After installing mxplayer, it gets installed directly on sdcard but when i reboot my device, the app disappears as if it was never installed.
NOTE : This is happening on apps that get directly installed on sdcard. Suppose an app gets installed on internal storage first and then i move it to sdcard, it will remain in sdcard forever (unless i manually uninstall it).

It's not MX Player's fault.
If you install anything on external memory it's getting removed on reboot. So, Kindly install MXPlayer to Internal Memory.
Looks like there is a bug in Marshmallow update of android one devices. There is no issue in nexus devices since it doesn't come up with sdcard slot.

The issue is not there in all devices.
The issue is a bug from your rom. Not from the apps.
Only way is to force the app to install only in internal storage. But, it will affect the all users who has limted space & wants to move the app to sd.
So, it's better to move the apps yourself.

Hi, I am having the same issues with apps intalled on my Internal Memory.
I have just upgraded my LG G3 D855 to Android 6.0 Marshmallow.
Some apps (like Outlook, Google Maps, Google Translate) disappear when I reboot the phone.

It's better to ask on device specific forums rather than here since it's not a MX Ppayer Bug. Chances of getting a solution here is very less for a device issue.
curiously only mx player disappear but I see that someone said this is not a mx player fault... yoooohooooooo

Replace Marshmallow with CM 12.1???

OK...I hate Marshmallow. I never should have upgraded. The SD management and inability to move apps to the SD card (even with Titanium Backup) is killing me. I'm thinking of going to CM 12.1. So, a few questions:
1) Is there any way to move apps to the SD card with Titanium Backup (or another method) as in versions prior to 6.0?
2) If not, has anyone gone from Marshmallow (Motorola OTA from 5.1) to CM 12.1? Any problems?
Thanks!
You can use ES File Explorer to "backup" (copy the apk files without their data) to your internal SD Card and just flash CM 12.1 or any CM 12.1 based ROM. If you haven't unlocked your bootloader yet, move the backup APKs to your external SD card or else they'll get wiped (internal SD card gets wiped entirely).

So it would be safe to go from OTA Marshmallow to CM 12.1 (based on 5.01)? I've read horror stories of people trying to go back. I've already been able to make backups using TWRP and TiBu, so that isn't an issue.
Thanks!
Yup, just make sure you clean flash everything. Should work fine. I moved from OTA Marshmallow to Resurrection Remix 5.1.1. Worked just fine

I spoke too soon. CM12 has started showing some issues (will start slowing down significantly and will require a reboot). I've tried uninstalling apps and going bare min for what I need, but doesn't help.
So, does anyone know how to go back to the stock 5.1 after a 6.0 update? I've found the posts about restoring Moto G 2015 to stock, but from what I've read (and experienced), this doesn't work for a downgrade (I get the "Preflash validation failed" error).
Thanks!
What about CM 13 ? At that point, try CM 13, then you'll try to go back to stock 5.1.1.

I'd like to try it, but there is no official CM13 build for the Moto G 2015.
Tbh, I planned to use Optimized rom from Lost101, but it does not work yet, so I've tried CM13 (last 05/03 build), and I don't have encountered issues. But I'm not a heavy user so I can't tell for sure. And I don't have SD card to test behavior...

Where did you get the CM13 build?
xda-developers > Moto G 2015 > Moto G 2015 Original Android Development > Unofficial CM 13 by Alberto97.
My answer is too simple. I guess you meant something else. Maybe you meant "official" ? In case, it is not official, but it will become at some point.
Hmm...I may try the CM13 unofficial build. Worst thing that happens is I go back to stock.
my personal opinion and what I have is
MM stock - rooted - customized with squid kernel - xposed
CM 12.1 I don't like it prefer stock MM

Given the setup you have, are you able to move apps to the SD card? That is my biggest complaint w/ MM - the inability to move apps to the SD card.

My phone is 16gb of internal memory right now I have no need to move apps to SD
but
give me 1 day I will make some tests
seems that Link2SD is the solution but requires the SD to have 2 primary partitions
I will test this today at night

Anyone else getting this camera error?

https://imgur.com/IH1bqKF
Sometimes when taking a picture this happens. Options dissapear from the camera app and a 0 shows up above the last taken picture.
When this happens the buttons in the camera app still trigger their animation but noting works, and I have to reboot the phone. The only thing that works is when I hold the power button so I can reboot it.
Any ideas of why this happens? Should I return my phone? It is the s7flat exynos version.
Try a factory reset, if the issue persist return it. You could also try flashing another firmware but I don't recommend that. It's a new phone ffs.

I don't know yet. I was using adoptable storage (enabled via adb) and thought it might be causing this. So I migrated data back to the internal storage and formatted the SD as external storage. Now I'm waiting to see if it is happening again...
Are you using SD and/or adoptable storage?

Though not for this specific problem, androidauthority suggests making sure smart stay is off and your SD card is formatted as exFAT. Worth a try

Well I've had smart stay always disabled and just formatted as exFat like schhy suggested.
lets hope the exFat format does the trick... =)
If not, I'll try using my phone without the sd card for a few days and see what happens

I am also thinking that the SD might be the problem. If i encounter the problem again I will remove it aswell.
Pls keep me inform if exFat actually helps!

Hi,
Finally! I'm not alone with this!
I have the exact same problem, It is not related to micro SD card because I never inserted/used one with my phone, only internal storage from the start and this problem happened 3-4 times. I had to reboot the phone to use again the camera which is very annoying.
I'm going to ask a replacement to amazon but I really don't know if it is a hardware problem or a software problem, by the way it is also a exynos version from Europe.
Anyone else with this problem ?

Interesting...never used the encryption feature for the sdcard ...can you take it off as there is software out there for computers that you can try and recover the pictures....that's the only way I can think of recovering them

In fact the issue is wrong. The real issue is that the sdcard stays encrypted and android tells me it cannot decrypt it because it has been encrypted on an other phone.
I haven't done a factory reset, just upgraded.
