Spare parts anytime soon???? - HTC U12+ Questions & Answers

have this phone for maybee 2 weeks now, and the screen cracked the 2nd day.
Ihave been looking for a new screen since then with no luck.
Found a new screen in india but i cant belive i cant find any spare parts here in EU
Any help would be aprecciated
wtf htc

I would call HTC and try to do whats called a buyers remorse and get a replacement for free it will work as long as you have had the phone less than 30 days that's what I did for my broken u12 and got a replacement overnighted for free!!!

i called but that buyer remorse thingy works probably only in america, i called in germany and i cant even send my phone to be repaired because they dont repair phones outside germany and in croatia there isnt any repair service
PS
they told me that the repair would take a month because they have to order the display from taiwan
so guys dont break your display for gods sake

Waiting for my phone now since 9th of July because they had to order parts and apperiantly they get delivered by a donkey throught Asia. It's some internal hardware and was not even my fault. Support being rude and super stupid. Never HTC again.

yes, same here, i spoke with htc support germany and the lady didnt understand half of what i was asknig
her german was very bad, only replied yes yes and kept on asking stuff writtten on her screen
terrible support

Today I got my phone back. So far it's working but it was the worse experience I ever had with any support. It was even do bad that the manager of the store where I bought it, offered me a new phone if it comes back broken again. HTC wrote down that my phone has a battery issue even though I even made a video for them. It's working so far so I am good. I wish you good luck and hopefully I comes back soon.

Does Germany have a similar organization that's here in America?
Better business bureau
Basically it's an organization you can file complaints to about a Company. They can't force the company to do anything, but they're a reputable organization. Companies would rather have them say good things about how they handled the complaint. All public image that could hinder sales.
A lot of the Htc customer service nightmares seem to happen outside the North America. I would hope that they could be pressured to perform better if enough people report it.

Poor Nexus S Sales Figures = Delayed N1 Gingerbread ?

Anyone seen any sales numbers on the Nexus S yet ?
If they were flying off the shelf I'd think we'd have seen some press on it by now.
I'm guessing the sales figures are underwhelming.
Maybe thats why the Nexus One is still lonely for Gingerbread ?
Not sure what the sales figures are, but until this past Sunday - it had not been advertised in the Best Buy flyer (here in Denver CO.). So maybe now, sales will pick up some - since they're finally starting to advertise it...?
P.S. Must not have done too bad in sales, wasn't it back-ordered last week?
Its advertised all over the internet... Google ads have nexus s all over them.
Gingerbread for the nexus one is out and modded.

Really? I see a lot of hybrid and 0.x level ROMs based on AOSP code, but nothing official from Google.
What am I missing?

Multiple Best Buy employees told me that when they checked the stock from local stores that all stores in and around Houston Texas were told out in 24 hours. I had to drive 2 hours across town to get the last one from a small town outside of Houston. People in Europe were saying similar things when the Nexus S was released on December 22nd.

It's hard to deduce real meaning from that kind of anecdotal evidence.
Yeah, stores sold out fast, and in the past we'd have said that meant that the sales exceeded expectations (a good thing), but now part of the marketing campaign on many products is false shortages to artificially create a sense of demand. They only release part of what they expect to actually sell into the retail chain the first week or two to keep the item interesting. Look at the Nexus One, EVO 4G, a couple of the iPhone models, the iPad, etc - all of them sold out the first day or two. Are the planners really that conservative/wrong in their sales forecasts, or are they just playing marketing games?
Until we see some actual numbers there's really no way to know how many of the devices were sold, and whether it's a disappointing number or not.

Most Best Buys in this area had like 4 or 5 of them.
Only one store was actually a T-Mobile dealer and they had 70.
So based on almost none in stock, its easy to see how they could
easily be sold out.
Honestly though, Google made a niche phone that the average phone
buyer wont buy.
Even many N1 owners arent buying it.
Is it maybe that the N1 owners expected a major upgrade from their current
phone, and thats certainly not the case at all.
I know I was underwhelmed by the NS and returned it after a week.
The MT4G is definitely a faster phone, and yes the 4G is in the area.
If nexus one ROM really is being purposely delayed, when it does finally come out it better be solid as a rock with all the extra testing time they get.
Hate to be devil's advocate, but really, Google is no longer obligated to update the Nexus One. Therefore, they'll get to it when they get to it.
I am a Nexus One user and I picked up the Nexus S from my local Best Buy about a week ago. It was interesting to me that there was no in-store signage or promotion. As I was waiting for the guy that was helping me to check to see if they had the phone back in stock - ("we were sold out" ) Two other people walked up and asked about the same phone.
I started chatting with them and neither one had previously used an Android device. Both had seen the phone advertised online and thought it looked like a cool phone. I finished up first and left with my phone but I think they both were buying the device as well.
The Best Buy employee I was dealing with said they weren't getting a lot of stock but they were quickly selling out of what they were getting in FWIW.
Best Buy in Northgate - Seattle had huge shelf full of Nexus S. After a few hours on Dec 16, half was gone. I know they eventually sold every single phone since a week later they were out. Had to drive up north to Alderwood to pick up a replacement and even there the stock was limited. So i am guessing the phone sold ok.

Best Buy Mobile in Woodfield mall had signs promoting the Nexus S, and when I went in for an exchange, they had a working demo unit kinda like how apple has their iPhones and iPads at their stores.
Nexus phones aren't really about sales they are about setting an example of what an android phone should be. How many phones had 1ghz processors before the Nexus One. Google forced manufacturers to stop making phones that had only weak processors. Manufacturers are only in it for the money and they don't care how bad they make android look, there are a lot of people who say android sucks because they used to own a backflip for example. I think the Nexus S is going to sell a lot more than the Nexus One because after 12 months I only knew of one other person who had one and I bought it for him (he paid me back). In the first week I have already seen or talked to people who know other people that have bought it. It will never sell a lot though not like the Evo or Mytouch, it is not all over TV or carrier approved, they would never let you get away with free tethering.

Anyone seen it in Hong Kong?

As per title has anyone seen the sensation available in Hong Kong yet? I'm flying there on Sat for a day trip and its between this and the Desire HD. I REALLY want to get the sensation, but I don't think it's around yet.
I'm sure I spotted it on a website, listed with the price a few weeks back but can't find the web site now. All the others I have found since have it listed but no price and no eta yet
So figured I'd ask in here on the off chance. I think the official release date is 8th June! sod's law that as I can't change my flight.
so anyone from HK on here and has anyone seen it there yet??
I saw a seller on ebay located in hongkong. Maybe you can contact the seller and find out if you can just pick it up at their warehouse.

Cheers guy, found it no problems, couple of places said they'd be getting it later that day.
Paid 4,200 for it, but got 32gb class 10, MicroSD card thrown in too so I'm happy.
Just have to learn how navigate and use it now. 1st Andriod phone so it's gonna be a fun learning experience
There's a lot in Shen Zhen
I want to buy one! can you please point me to a shop in hongkong where they sell these.
hkd 4,200 w/ 32gb card btw is great!!

I bought mine in Mong Kok. Plenty of places had it in stock. The big stores were expecting it that day.
I think I could've got the price down further if I'd been paying cash. As always cash is king there And if more places had it.
Sadly I was in a hurry else I would've gotten the cash in hand.
Couldn't find accessories for it though, but I'll get those later.
Right now I'm enjoying it, I showed it off to a few friends over the weekend, one guy started to get his iphone out and then saw how fast this is and didn't bother and just gave me the bird lol
Thanks! I'll try to find my way there this week.
Smartone also have the sensation now. Got mine there yesterday, unbranded as well.
The phone came with a load of preinstalled smartone apps. A quick factory reset and all the smartone apps are gone.

On their FAQ it says that they are based in Hong Kong, but phones are compatible with UK/Europe. (panamoz.com/index.php/FAQ)
Online reviews are quite good, so it could be worth buying. (google.co.uk/products/seller?&hl=en&zmi=panamoz.com&cmi=30208238839857152)

I wonder is it exactly the same phone as the one coming to UK on 20th of June?

[Q] Why can i not find the silver blue aluminium build?

Why is there no Silver/Blue aluminium builds on the internet?
I can only seem to find the ceramic black MAO one. I dont want to get that version as i have seen various chipping issues surfacing on the internet.
Also does HTC replace the phone if it does chip? and is this with the standard warranty statement included or do i need the actual receipt ?
Edit: Im in the UK if that helps
read through the thread on 'micro oxidation' when it comes to chipping. Long story short, HTC admits this is a cosmetic problem and will not officially replace the phone under warranty, at least not anymore.
So my suggestion is if you want to risk it, buy it from a respectable retailer (ie: myphone, amazon, expansys etc) that have a specific policy when it comes to returns that if in 30 days you get a defect, you can return it.
i returned 3 phones and got refunded in the end from amazon(brilliant service) but i wont be buying htc anymore.

interestingly enough the black now costs 370!!! instead of 415 that it was initially
I think HTC doenst have a exact colorname for the Grey/Blue one. In germany the shops call it metallic gray/grey. Price about 444€.

They are available from the carriers.
I wanted to buy a carrier-free one and couldn't find one (although this was in the first week of release) hence purchasing from 3UK - I'm surprised they are still not available.
Handtec site says due in soon and taking preorders; exspansys the same. I'm guessing all the independant retailers decided the black would be more popular and are now left holding lots of black stock whilst the carriers went for both.
I have to say the 3UK bloatware isn't as bad as I expected and I'm glad I bought the phone despite really wanting it "vanilla"; there is no external branding. If you really do want the grey version then I'd suggest it's worth considering buying from the high street.

Worry about early batch

Hello
I am seriously considering getting the S4 for delivery on launch.
When i got my HTC One X, it was about a week after launch. The phone had 2 screen bugs (yellow spots and flickering). Even my replacement phone had this problem. Are Samsung known for early batches of new handsets to have these errors?
This is the only thing stopping me from early terminating my contract and going to Three (UK)

I got my SII on the day it was released nearly 2 yrs ago and it worked fine then and it still does to this day. However every phone released uses different hardware so past releases aren't good to go on.
I would get one and if it is genuinely faulty you can get it replaced. If you are worried then hold off and see if any concerns come up on the forums before buying. Also when getting a replacement phone, many people take it back to the same place they bought it and probably get given another phone from the same batch. If possible try a different store, you never know it might be a different batch.

Thanks for your reply, i am unsure as to whether it was just HTC being rubbish, their support team were very secretive about the problem. As it was only a small amount of handsets they didnt seem bothered about fixing it.
HTC being rubbish is definitely a factor . I've bought three Samsung's at release and never had a single issue with handset .

I'd wait a few months and see how many issues people are having.
Maybe wait until it drops down $50 since thats the point where a good number of units have already been in peoples hands.
I never liked being the first person to have something from a cost and reliability perspective.
Some of the higher end car audio gear is known for having issues in the first few production runs and i've learned from that it's wise to be cautious with brand new electronics.
Well its all about luck, there isnt any much difference between ist and 2nd batch. When s3 came, some said the blue one has back cover problem but it wasnt like this.

I got the s3 on launch and it was perfect. I maaaay or may not have bricked it/it died on me but they straight replaced it on warranty no questions asked even with cm10 installed.

Bought two S3s the week they were released and both have been perfect ever since.
But past events don't mean for sure the GS4 will be without problems. Also, comparing any launch with the HTC One X...that was probably the worst phone launch in terms of hardware problems that I've ever seen, so ANYTHING is going to be better than that

Mostly everyone has a credit card now a days. just make sure you use a premium credit card that will double your manufacturer's warranty. As simple as that.
But if you don't have a premium credit card (not hard to get) then you're out of luck I guess.
Given the issues HTC is having with the One, its no surprise their QC is not holding up. Apple has issues with initial launches and their phones. So far I have not had any issues with the Samsung first batches of phones, they are building 10 million a month of these puppies for global launch unlike Apple who delays launches into different markets.

No it doesn't. Why would you think that?
---------- Post added at 08:00 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:57 PM ----------
I bought my SGS2 a month after release and it never had any issues. But my SGS3 bought 1 month after release also had a faulty display (black spots), SDS and some small errors in the hyperglaze on the backcover. Many SGS3 early buyers also had problem with the cracking "metal" bezel.
I think Samsungs QA is taking a hit because of the popularity of the Galaxy phones. I normally never had any issues with their phones unlike HTC which I always had issues with.

Because my visa cash rewards bank of america card doubles the warranty on anything I by? Look into it next time. Don't just blindly respond to something you don't know. A lot of credit cards come with perks and benefits. Roadside assistance, buyers protection, double a warranty to up to a year, etc.
Samsung's phones may generationally look the same which doesn't make everyone happy but there's an advantage. Building the SGS4 isn't much different than building the SGS3 and the N2 that preceded it. There was the occasional bezel not aligned or the home buttons being different heights on those phones but nothing really major. Variances in color temperature of the display is an "AMOLED thing" so I'd expect that to continue to some degree. But when you consider how many devices Samsung sells versus the number of QC complaints it’s pretty amazing they come out of the shoot as well built as they do.
Here's how Samsung started down the QC road and their general outlook...
In 1995, Chairman Lee was dismayed to learn that cell phones he gave as New Year’s gifts were found to be inoperable. He directed underlings to assemble a pile of 150,000 devices in a field outside the Gumi factory. More than 2,000 staff members gathered around the pile. Then it was set on fire. When the flames died down, bulldozers razed whatever was remaining. “If you continue to make poor-quality products like these,” Lee Keon Hyok recalls the chairman saying, “I’ll come back and do the same thing.”
The lesson stuck. In May 2012, three weeks before the new Galaxy S III was to be shipped, a Samsung customer told the company that the back covers for the smartphone looked cheaper than the demo models shown to clients earlier. “He was right,” says DJ Lee, the marketing chief of Samsung Mobile. “The grain wasn’t as fine on the later models.” There were 100,000 covers in the warehouse with the inferior design, as well as shipments of the assembled devices waiting at airports. This time, there would be no bonfire—all 100,000 covers, as well as those on the units at the airports, were scrapped and replaced.
Great story on the "Samsung way"...

What's HTC's customer service like these days (UK)?

Essentially this. Seriously tempted to cancel my Pixel 2 XL panda order and order one of these instead. Ironically, I'd probably still get this before the Panda XL, which would be with me around 21st December!
What's HTC like to deal with if you have issues? My previous HTC phone was a One X, so I'm a bit behind!

I've heard some truly horrendous examples of HTCs customer service when it comes to repairs, both on the internet and a couple through my old place of work (mobile phone repair contact centre), which is another reason I'm hesitating.

My experience i had with HTC (NL) was always good, proper response and whenever i had some issues HTC picked it up and without any discussion repaired my phones. i really like them, and yes there will always be some to say to each company but i am using HTC form the old days (when the produced phones under the brand of Qtek) and they never really disappointed me.
With the HTC online store, the only place I can buy the U11+ | and no financing option, I can not consider it sadly. LG V30 is my bottom choice - the OnePlus 5T could be good - and the Razer Phone is a good choice also.
