Since the first of May, I have in my possession a Samsung Galaxy J3, SM-3300, bought in China, in almost all aspects, works very well, has 3 g ram, and 32 gb capacity.
But from the first day, after installing Google Maps, it does not give me the chronology of my locations.
Even when I open Google Maps on the PC, I get directly the map of China, and it does not give me any location if I go reviewing the days, since I bought it.
Can someone tell me how to solve this problem?

I've got a UK Galaxy S, and am about to go to the USA on a holiday. As my battery life is absolutely rubbish (15 hours) I was hoping to buy a spare battery so I can contact my partner on the trip.
I tried ordering one from DealExtreme a month ago, and it still hasn't arrived (and they won't respond to my emails), given I go away tomorrow this is a bit of a hassle. I tried to source one locally but the places that could deliver seem to have it on backorder.
So my question is, do the US variants of hte galaxy S use the same battery, meaning I should be able to find it in a store over there? or should I head down to a phone shop and pay an exorbitant price for it..
I don't see them being any cheaper in the States from a 'phone shop'; but yes, they're all the same.
Hi guys,
I recently went onto a trip to Hong Kong; Whilst I was there I visited a few different companies for example Deal Extreme (My girlfriend sells USB gadgets etc online)
So we looked at a range of Android phones they had Everything from Galaxy S3s BUT they had some "ACM" phones which were DIRECT copies of many phones, S3s and they guy showed us the difference and there was almost nil. Even the battery was the same.
I'm wondering how if possible it is to flash ROMs to these phones, I dont want to buy one and not be able to flash a ROM
I'm going back out there soon so I'd like to know ASAP
When I got my first Android device at Christmas 2011, which was an old HTC Desire that offered a rather lowly specification compared to more recent devices (especially in the storage department where there was less than even 1GB of internal storage for apps), I instantly fell in love with the operating system. Having never utilised a smart phone before in daily life, besides Samsung's failed Bada OS which frankly sucked, I just loved the practicality of being able to access the internet wherever I was. From simply checking the date for someone's birthday on Facebook when I enter a shop, or scanning a barcode and finding a better price in the shop next door, to simply playing some Angry Birds whilst waiting for someone, I really found a smart phone incredibly useful. Since I predominately use a smart phone for its apps, and seldom actually make phone calls and not even a ton of text messages, the natural choice would probably be a tablet. However, since my old HTC had a rubbish old battery and was getting grubby, I needed a new phone also. The hybrid tablet/phone Galaxy Note fitted this perfectly and I got it on a monthly contract from 3 around 4 months ago now. The unlimited 3G data (no 4G here in the UK till September at the earliest) was especially appealing for just £27 GBP a month. However, now the Note 2 has been announced and, besides it being much more powerful and having improved software, a 4G version (which I presume will come to the UK as it is getting 4G now) is set to release. So, does anyone know when you can get an upgrade on a 3 Mobile 2-year contract?
Wanted to see if any others out there with the Surface Pro has differing hardware in their Surface Pros?
To get to the point - I originally purchased my first SP at Best Buy - only to return it to the local MS Store a few days later due to a screen issue and exchange it for a new one.
Two key things noted:
First SP started with a serial number of "011xxx" and had a Micron mSATA drive (as noted in iFixit's Teardown) - but 128GB instead of 64GB.
My new SP has a serial number that starts with "029xxx" and has a Samsung mSATA drive instead (128GB - Model number SAMSUNG MZMPC128HBFU-000MV) ...
Just interested if anyone has similar differences in hardware and also if anyone knows how to "decode" the serial numbers to figure out where they're made - date of manufacture, etc.
Also of note - the new SP actually has a warranty date through May 17th (15 months) instead of the 12 months from the one I got from Best Buy originally - not sure if that's due to the swap/exchange at the MS store...
Maybe the delays here in the UK are down to MS struggling to get hold of as many mSATA drives as needed, I wouldnt of thought they were that popular before now...
It's hard to gauge if they're actually that "popular" in the US currently, or if MS actually has a supply chain problem and didn't make enough of them....
My first SP was only 1 of 5 that came into the store last Saturday morning (better than the 1 of "zero" that came in on launch day).
The second SP was really a stroke of luck, in that I have 2 MS stores. When I called the support line to start the exchange process - the CSR called the stores for me and - again pure luck - one of the stores had one (due to another buyer only buying 1 surface instead of 2 that he had originally requested). The CSR had it held for me and even when I got there, I had to argue a bit to make them go back and check and get my replacement (the sales rep there thought he had none until he went and checked with his manager).
I did notice while waiting for him to confirm that 4 other people came in during that time to pick up their SPs... So I believe that they're starting to slowly trickle in. In fact, yesterday, one of the other BBY stores that I had placed my name on their list called me to notify me they had one ready to pick up if I wanted it... Told them to release it to the wolves..
Back on topic: Looks like AnandTech confirms what my suspicion is:

"My review sample included a 128GB Micron C400,while I've seen reports of users getting Samsung PM830 (OEM SSD 830) based drives."
Though I'm not entirely sure if my model has the PM 830 or an entirely different model ....
Given the amount of time its taking to get the Pro here in the UK and given I already have an RT I'd be tempted to wait for the Pro2 now, 4th Gen i5 and larger drives perhaps....

I was pondering the same thing.
Ha, at least in the States you can get the bloody things, here in the UK the website keeps changing but doesnt actually tell us anything...
If I go to Google Store website, I find that in pretty much every region, Google is only selling the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro on their official stores, with the rare exception of Japan and India, where I see that even Pixel 6a is listed.
This makes me think that Google is no longer having stock of it's older models, and such models that are available in 3rd party stores (both online and offline) are essentially unsold inventory.
This leads me to the question:
Every year when OEMs launch their newer phone model, do they completely stop producing their older models in each segment? Does anyone have reliable info on this? No speculation please.
I bought a Google Pixel 5 on Amazon. There was something about the packaging that was suspect. It lacked the kind of polish one would expect from original packaging. Most importantly, month of manufacture was Dec'22.
As far as I know, Google stopped producing the Pixel 5 sometime in 2021, and all Pixel 5 available anywhere in the world should be 2021 or 2020 make. I don't think Google produced the Pixel 5 in 2022, and that too in Dec'22.
Apple doesn't instantly discontinue it's older models when new models are launched. The reason for this is to clear out inventory of components used in older models.
The point to remember is this:
If an OEM is still producing an older model, it will list it in it's own stores (both online and offline). If a manufacturer has stopped listing an item on its own store, it simply means it has stopped making it.
This is true for all manufacturers.

Yes, I noticed this when I bought a Samsung Galaxy A52 4G a few months ago. When I searched for it in the store, it didn't come up, but when I searched for it online, I found the product info page from Samsung.

So if you find a box of Galaxy A52 4G today that shows the month of manufacture as anything later than the time you stopped seeing it listed on the official site, it means the box is fake. The phone inside is either fake or a used/ refurbished one.
The problem is many online platforms like Amazon, eBay, etc. are used by dubious sellers to sell such used products as brand new, and these platforms don't seem to be doing enough to stop such cheating.
