Hi guys,
I recently went onto a trip to Hong Kong; Whilst I was there I visited a few different companies for example Deal Extreme (My girlfriend sells USB gadgets etc online)
So we looked at a range of Android phones they had Everything from Galaxy S3s BUT they had some "ACM" phones which were DIRECT copies of many phones, S3s and they guy showed us the difference and there was almost nil. Even the battery was the same.
I'm wondering how if possible it is to flash ROMs to these phones, I dont want to buy one and not be able to flash a ROM
I'm going back out there soon so I'd like to know ASAP

I want to find a reliable store that promises that if you purchase a brand new never opened phone, that they send me a brand new never opened phone.
I need them to be able to send phone's with standardized house chargers corresponding to the country's outlet.
Can Clove do this for American consumers?
Never messed with Clove, but I have ordered from Handtec. They ship brand new, never opened phones that are unlocked, but you get the international charger (not the one that U.S. customers can use).
You can always go to a place that sells travel gear and buy an international adaptor. Or if you buy an HTC phone say for example the HTC HD, you can go to a cellphone store and buy an adaptor for any HTC phone like the touch pro and it should be compatible because the charger is a USB cable and the little box that it connects into. That's what I had to do with my previous imported phones.
Sorry I couldn't be more help
Another thing you want to be aware of is that certain phones comes in different models with different frequency radios. So you might not be able to get 3G in North America if you get the overseas model.
I bought from Handtec a couple of years ago and was given a phone which was supposed to be brand new, it turned out to have over two hours of outgoing call time on it. They tried to tell me it was during testing, I had to wait over a month for a brand new one as they had already got my money.
to be fair they gave me a few bits as a sorry.

What are bits?
Thanks for the info. I bought a Nokia E90 marketed as brand new and ALWAYS got it used.
Sorry to hear about all this bad news
I am in no way a rep for them, I have just used them in the past and always received new merchandise.
Hi,
I am just about to send off a few htc phones that I had lying about the house, it just occurred to me that I have custom roms on 3 of them.
The phones are fully working, turn on and off etc. and it doesn't mention anything about custom roms on their terms and conditions page but I was hoping someone might have the answer to this.
I can't really be bothered having to start searching for stock roms for each of the phones. I'm hoping I don't need to.
Thanks
it shouldn't make a difference but they might return it if its not stock.
Depending on what phones they are and how old they are you might get a better price if you sell them on here or ebay.
mazuma give really low prices.
they offered me £60 for a £110 brand new phone.
if they are old htcs and are in good condition there might be people on here that might be interested in them.
Hope this helps!
Or try Computer Exchange
I had a handful of old HTC phones (Hurricane, Hermes Virgin lobster tv) and Mazuma offered me just £35 for the lot
I had completely forgot about CEX as I hadn't seen them for years but I happened to stumble across one in Birmingham city center and they offered me £80 cash!! for the same phones and £105 for exchange!!
Dont bother with any of the ones on tv and if they are in good/mint condition and you still have the boxes, manuals, cables etc then you will get even more.
I have a couple of phones, a Samsung S390G and a Kyocera Event, that I re-purposed. I use the Samsung as a music/video player when I'm on the bus and the Event serves as a WiFi phone.
Has anyone else re-purposed any androids lately? If so did you re-purpose a phone you already owned or do you know of a store or website where one can purchase an android that works well and isn't hot for a reasonable amount? I'm looking for a bigger screen model. Hopefully, after Xmas or New Years there will be good deals on 2014 contractless phones.
Yikes

I repurposed a Note 2 as a development device and media player/casual game device when I purchased my Note 3 this spring.
You can buy used phones from the internet/relatives/newspaper ads. If you are willing to spend a little more, you can buy refurbished phones from retailers.

Thanks for the info. I looked at the Note 2's prices on the web and I was like "Yikes"! I WANT to appear cheap because I am. Usually when I look for electronics I zero in on hardware that's unloved by the masses but loved by some hacker geek(s) who have turned a Chevette/Pinto of tech into a hot rod. That's were you get the most bang for the buck as the manufacturer is forced into a discount cascade on what they thought was a sure thing but turned out not to be "IT". I just haven't been able to find anything like that lately.
Hi,
I want to buy my mother a new phone for her birthday, and have decided on an S7 because (a) I'll probably never have to buy her another phone again and (b) she'll be able to stay on the Sammy-train, where she's very firmly set *sigh*
However, I don't want to buy from a local store because the prices, (it's like the S8 line doesn't exist) and I'd also prefer an unlocked model in case she switches carriers. I've been looking at amazon.de, and their prices are more reasonable. But I have my doubts, mainly about if the phone I buy will turn out to be fully genuine (and brand-new), or will turn out to be somehow SIM-locked or have the wrong firmware like in this thread. [EDIT]Also, what about warranties & repair and stuff like that?[/EDIT] I'm aware that it will be region-locked to the EU, which every seller says it should be (and it better be the right region, too). I've come here with this query as it's likely to be the most knowledgable environment for S7 stuff. So, yeah, if there are horror stories out there, I'd love to hear them.
Finally, yes, I have searched, but all the relevant threads I found were about amazon in the US/Canada/RSA. I'm in the EU, and need more info on buying Samsung phones here, as I haven't done so for four years now. TIA for answers
Hello guys!
Do you have the problem like I do that I really would like to buy a fresh, new, fast phone with a new original battery, but looking at the current market I can not find any that suits to me? I am not talking about poor performance or lack of choice, but size... I'm really not interested in those enourmous 6"-6.5" phones because that big size is not comfortable for me, even though I have big hands.
Where is the era of 5"-5.8" phones gone? Do you think the large phones trend will ever stop?
In my situation I'm trying to look at used phones market, but this is also super problematic. If I find a used 5.5" device that suits me, it's battery is pretty much dead. I could buy a new battery and replace it without a problem, but there is no way I can find an original/genuine battery that will have a reasonable and solid life time. This is pathetic I think the dying 2-years batteries is the main trick that corporations use today to force us to change phone every 2-3 years ?
Do you feel me?
Well the way I've decided to combat this is by subscribing to Samsungs access program where I pay like 40 a month and in 9 months I can upgrade to the note 21 or S21 (if I choose to switch). I had the note 9 for 2 years and what I've noticed is I refuse to outright sell my phones for cheap rates after dropping 1200 plus on it. So now I've accumulated phones over the years since Samsung switched up and stopped allowing the early upgrade program with carriers. I got stuck with an s7 plus and 2 note 9s that are just collecting dust. I'm not selling either one for a few hundred dollars. And with insurance from Verizon, if anything happens to my phone I can just get a refurbished one sent to me and then I'll just trade that one back in when I'm ready to upgrade next year. This way I get the fresh new flagships every year and stop accumulating phones. The only downside is the fact that I wanted a phone with dual sim capabilities but Samsung only sells single sim in the US. I guess you can't have it all. Hopefully they eventually fix this issue and provide esim and/or dual sim capable phones in the future.
Now as far as smaller phones, I am not too sure. I believe all the major brands now have been offering smaller variations like the s20 e or fe or whatever its called. The only downside to this is I believe although they are cheaper then the full size flagships, they sadly do have less features and/or tech such as the cameras.
