Current large phones trend & regarding batteries - General Topics

Hello guys!
Do you have the problem like I do that I really would like to buy a fresh, new, fast phone with a new original battery, but looking at the current market I can not find any that suits to me? I am not talking about poor performance or lack of choice, but size... I'm really not interested in those enourmous 6"-6.5" phones because that big size is not comfortable for me, even though I have big hands.
Where is the era of 5"-5.8" phones gone? Do you think the large phones trend will ever stop?
In my situation I'm trying to look at used phones market, but this is also super problematic. If I find a used 5.5" device that suits me, it's battery is pretty much dead. I could buy a new battery and replace it without a problem, but there is no way I can find an original/genuine battery that will have a reasonable and solid life time. This is pathetic I think the dying 2-years batteries is the main trick that corporations use today to force us to change phone every 2-3 years ?
Do you feel me?

Well the way I've decided to combat this is by subscribing to Samsungs access program where I pay like 40 a month and in 9 months I can upgrade to the note 21 or S21 (if I choose to switch). I had the note 9 for 2 years and what I've noticed is I refuse to outright sell my phones for cheap rates after dropping 1200 plus on it. So now I've accumulated phones over the years since Samsung switched up and stopped allowing the early upgrade program with carriers. I got stuck with an s7 plus and 2 note 9s that are just collecting dust. I'm not selling either one for a few hundred dollars. And with insurance from Verizon, if anything happens to my phone I can just get a refurbished one sent to me and then I'll just trade that one back in when I'm ready to upgrade next year. This way I get the fresh new flagships every year and stop accumulating phones. The only downside is the fact that I wanted a phone with dual sim capabilities but Samsung only sells single sim in the US. I guess you can't have it all. Hopefully they eventually fix this issue and provide esim and/or dual sim capable phones in the future.
Now as far as smaller phones, I am not too sure. I believe all the major brands now have been offering smaller variations like the s20 e or fe or whatever its called. The only downside to this is I believe although they are cheaper then the full size flagships, they sadly do have less features and/or tech such as the cameras.

Looking for a new phone and plan.

So I'm in the process of buying a new phone. I personally don't have a lot of money to spend so the $200 price point is one I'm trying to hit, but I'm not opposed to spending $300 for a vastly superior phone. I would like the phone to be on the smaller side of things, don't approach the phablet territory (~6 or greater inches). I'm not a big phone spec guy, I don't care to have the fastest processor or huge amounts of ram seeing as the most taxing thing I do on my phone is play Clash of Clans. I don't care to have a high resolution screen at all, 720p would be fine. I would like it to have good wifi support and be able to get 4G LTE, now the last and most important part is it NEEDS to have a all day in to tomorrow type battery.
Priorities:
1. Cheap
2. Big battery
3. LTE support
4. Good wifi support
Here are a few phones I'm looking at
Moto X,G,E Nexus 5???, BlackBerry Z10.
I'm really just looking for suggestions here because all of those phones seem to be besides what I'm looking for, let me know if there are any phones that I'm missing.
Thanks,
Beefy

Just a few phones around that price range that have better specs.
Moto G is a great phone though I must say.

I could hook up with Boost through my account and you and I would get some saving from doing that but I am new to forums and dont want anyone complaining if its against some policy I not aware of. As a side note I been using them for 3 years and they been good to me and I gotten my bill with them by getting discounts every 6 month I paid on time some my monthy bill is $15- a month cheaper than when I started. You can PM if needed. I am now paying $40 a month using a Galaxy S3 and it getting LTE service where I live. I get 2.5 gb of data month before throttled. I never gone other the limit so dont know how fast it is when throttled.

Question, Thinking about buying S6, but selling in the future to fund for Note 5

So, I've never sold my phones before, but the thing is, I really want to move over to the phablet side of things, and I want to get the note 5. The Note 5 is slated for a q3 release. My upgrade is due already (have a HTC m7) and since I pretty much put my HTC out of commission, I'm using my Blackberry from like 2009 as my current phone.
Main question is, If I buy the s6 and sell it in like 5 months tops, what would I get for it?
It's hard to say to be honest. Since they'll be a lot of S6 devices sold the resale value is likely to be lower, like other Galaxy devices in the past. Supply and demand after all.
On the other hand the build quality is much better than previous devices and it's likely to be higher than previous years.
I'm in the same boat as you, I am intrigued by the S6, and possibly the G4, but I know the Note 5 will likely be even better.
Both are great devices (Note 4 lollipop update killed my battery life). As someone who has gone from phone to phablet then back again, I can tell you that selling your galaxy phone on ebay, CL etc can be pretty disappointing. If you pay full price today, in 6 months you could probably pull $350 selling it... at least that's been my experience. Either way, good luck, and the GS6 has been great for me so far so you can't go wrong there.
I would agree with the above post. I am guessing that in 6 months you'll probably be able to get 350 to 450 for the GS6. That's really not bad, but you'll be paying about 200 for using the device for 6 months.

Yep all the above post are accurate the note probably holds the most value of any android phone. Truth is because of so many releases android phones don' keep value well, in about 2 month you'll start seeing s6 pop up used for around 450-475 probably by the fall when the note 5 comes for a mint condition s6 32gb you'd get about 400 probably

Contract expiring but I don't want a new handset.

Hey guys, I have a little issue here. My current 24 month plan with Vodafone(Australia) is almost up. I'm on an 80 dollar plan with 5 gig of mobile internet. I'm quite happy with my current plan already and I don't see myself changing plans or service. The thing is I am very very happy with my current phone which is the Note 3 the only phone I could possible replace it with is the Note 4. I dislike the note 5 with a passion.
The note 4's slight upgrade on the note 3 is not worth to get locked another 24 months with, Since I will most likely keep the same plan and stick with the same provider I was wondering what's my best move? I feel I should definitely get something for it. I really do not want to change my phone for anything on the market right now. Should I just get any of the flagship phones and sell it and go on a holiday or something? Any advice woud be appreciated.
Also here is why I like the Note 3/4 so much even tho it's older.
-Samsung amoled screens
-Big display I love phablets.
-Removable batter - My phone has never been charged or had downtime ever. I use a charging dock and 2 batteries, and keep the spare battery on my wallet.
-the specs on the notes are top notch. My note 3 can still out benchmark most of the other non-samsung flagships.

haha...Samsung S6 is losing steam. Unlocked for 430$

Looks like nobody is buying Samsung S6. In the face of pressure from MXPE for sure:

I almost bought the note 5 international version for 589 on eBay the other day. Figured I'd stick with my pure order though but those flagship prices dropping rapidly is great news for consumers.
Big reason I such with the pure is the sd card and non glass black.

Yeah, very much the same reasons except may be I need to add, unlocked bootloader...custom leather back..front speakers...works on all 4 carriers...and may be, just may be, NO BLOAT!...
Or maybe it has nothing to do with the Pure. Maybe it's because more people like and prefer the S6 Edge rather than the regular S6, and they're trying to offload the less popular of the two by putting it on sale.
Just a thought.

Yeah, that's a possibility. But I think Edge is going down too.... MXPE is bringing the house down....
Sales for the S6 have been way down.

I dont think it has to do something with the Pure... I can see huge pricedrops on all Early/Mid 2015 Flashship Phones. Galaxy S6 is down to ~399€ including a cashback that samsung offers here. HTC One is at 450€ - All the 32GB version... So the MOto X is not really a "mid-highend phone with a great price" here in germany. I paied 509€ with Moto Maker. Even the S6 Edge is cheaper
I had the Edge...got tired of the feel of the phone in hand. Curved screen is a gimmick for sure. Had I went with the standard screen to begin with I may not have made the jump to the Pure. Glad I had the Edge because I made the jump and the Pure is by far my favorite phone up to this point. But the S6 is now almost 6 months old! In dog years that's like "ancient" LOL! So I think the price drop is more a result of age than anything else. I also think that's a major reason why nearly all manufacturers are making these things less end user serviceable. They figure with new phones coming out every 6 months who's ever going to need to replace a battery? So they just need to make room for the newest phones now.

Actually, age did not matter earlier. For example, I couldn't find unlocked m8 even after 1 year of its release below 500$. Same thing with S5. S6 price drop has been unusual in my tracking of device prices over the years (since 2008).
I have 200GB of storage on my MXPE.
I can have every app, every game, and whole lot of books, music, and movies, with plenty of room for backups and never have to store stuff in the cloud.
Plus I can OTG another 128GB if I feel crazy.

I get that you love your phone but this is just silly... The S6 price drop has nothing to do with the MPX, in fact the MPX will more then likely not even outsell the S6 though its sales arent as good as previous years, samsung kind of canabalized the S6 sales by releasing the edge at the same time as the S6, also they're about to do the same with the edge after releasing the edge+, but theres also another phone coming out that will outsell every phone out there, you might have heard of it, its called a new iPhone...by your logic the MPX should drop in price too actually all phones should drop in price, since the iPhone will kill everyone elses sales LOL...

Yes, it likely has everything to do with iPhone release.
But in the Android market, MXPE sells for 400$ and is a great phone. Why would anybody spend 600+ if they are looking for an Android phone? I never said MXPE has or will outsell S6. All I said was that S6 may be seeing pressure from MXPE in the Android market. If you don't want the Apple ecosystem, you have every reason to land on MXPE instead of S6. MXPE is just so much a better phone for less. Samsung knows it.

I'd agree with you the MXP is a better phone now but here's the thing that price reduction is from a ebay store, its not a corporate samsung store, u walk into one they'll still charge you the 600+ retail...so while samsung says this is the retail, individuals can choose to sell the device for as high or as low as they want...so my point is i guess this reduction really has nothing to do with Samsung feeling pressure from Moto and more that the individual seller just wanted to get rid of his own S6 stock.
Probably has more to do with this... BTW on that sale there is no warranty from manufacturer...

You don't say? There will be a S7 in the Spring?
Seriously the phone markets are in flux right now. First, upgrades are pretty minimal. Second, subsidies are non existent for man. As such, people are starting to think twice about buying $800 devices, especially when many of their bucket wish list items are getting removed.
So it is no surprise that people are starting to not upgrade for big bucks and hold off or looking maybe to spend 40% less and still enjoy an upgrade.

Why Did You Buy A Galaxy Note 5:User Introduction Thread

Hello
Ive had my Note 5 for 10 days now, coming from an HTC One M7 of 2 years 8 months and felt it was finally time for an upgrade. Ive been a long supporter of HTC products since the EVO 4G days but lately have felt differently about the company so it was time to move on and finally make a change
One of the companies i looked to naturally was HTC's main competitor Samsung. In the past i have said negative things about Samsung. Ive always thought their products were overhyped, overpriced, gimmicky and sometimes unoriginal and that they were lucky to be successful because of their marketing budget. Never liked the bloatiness, not customizable friendly and bland UI of Touchwiz. However i cannot knock Samsung for their displays, has always been the best in its class.
The only product i thought about buying from Samsung at one time was the Galaxy S3, but Touchwiz was the main reason i stayed away. Ive always taken an interest to the Note series but wasnt ready to handle a screen of that size. the phablet idea was ahead of its time though. While i have been critical of Samsung and said their marketing is the reason they are the #1, i will be fair and say they have been more forward thinking in their ideas lately
I actually was more interested in getting a Nexus 6P than a Note 5. However the Note 5 was more convenient and affordable for me without having to switch carriers so the next best thing after the 6P is the Note 5. Also considered getting a S6Edge/Edge+ but thats where the gimmicky and overpriced mantra comes into play.
The camera was the main draw for me, followed by the S-pen functionality. I will miss the front stereo speakers of my M7 though and some of the friendly customizations of Sense. Still trying to get used to Touchwiz but i like it or hate it the Note 5 will be my phone for the next 2 years hopefully i will mostly like it. Its about time i give Samsung a shot so i can fairly criticize it!
Right now i mostly love it but the battery life is a bit of a letdown, hoping Marshmallow update fixes this! The screen, camera, multitask window and s-pen is all what i expected and makes it a nice upgrade over the m7
I had a Nexus 5, i broke the screen. Was replaced with this device for $100 insurance deductible (not bad). Phone rocks but i'm living in touchwiz hell.

Nope not bad at all.
I hate how the app drawer is on the right but can't find a way to move it to the middle of the dock. Is there any way to rearrange it without having to find a replacement UI and therefore drain my battery more? Lol.
had the note 2 time for a upgrade
plus I got some cool gifts

I've been sitting a year out of contract because the SD810 disaster and a garbage generation of phones.
Sprints LTE band2 has always been garbage in Phoenix AZ, so I was getting fed up with 3Mbit at best with full signal).
I was very close to getting a cheaper older phone at T-Mobile until this deal happened.
It was $50 at best buy, and their insurance is great. Also the $100 Samsung pay gift code to get a gear vr for free. The holiday gift pack is just a surprise bonus I'm also trying to take advantage of.
The deal was too good to pass up and I stuck with Sprint, I'm happy I did because the two extra LTE bands that I didn't have with my Optimus G make a world of difference. I will miss rooting though.

After dealing with an increasingly slow s3 i finally had had enough of that phone. I was ready to throw it against the wall. I had that phone for two years plus it was already 2 years old by that time i think. Love the note 5. I hate the predictive text, mainly because i type fast and it doesn't always hey the word right and i have to stop and delete and retype...sometimes often. Otherwise I'm loving the phone, no complaints and not even rooted.
