Hi!
Im planning to buy a new phone, but for me the good ones are too expensive, so I thought I'd give a try a China phone. But are they reliable? I know they can break very fast but maybe there is a sort of good manufacturer. Right now I'm looking at Zopo ZP100 with 1Ghz CPU and stuff, are those any good?
Also what are reliable stores to buy these from? There are some phones like this on Ebay, but I dont know really.

No way dude!I would never do it.done it before with some electronic stuff from China (like the legendary sciphone!Lol what a piece of **** it was!!) I would rather save some money and buy a phone when I can afford it,or buy a used phone over eBay

He's right.. save your money and buy a proper phone.
Some Chinese developers have stolen Android and sold it as their own OS. I had a friend from China come to America as an exchange student with an Android phone that was called something else.
The Meizu Android Phones Are Great
I am Chinese, I bought my phone from this website, it is famous in China, but I do not know if it support English.

What the .. ?
First of all - China does not equal ****. Even their unbranded products got quality boost from the recent. Small companies are making their products with almost the western standard and they are pushing through.
ZTE is a company from Shenzhen, China, That has it's range of Android phones that are pretty good, and by the way - they now have more money than Samsung and Apple
Here is a nice example of how chinese phones need not to be total crap:
http://www.malata.com/en/product_detail.aspx?classid=700&id=149
I had the opportunity to check out Malata products with my own hands & eyes and I can tell you that their tablets look better than western makret tablets.
now tell me - is anything wrong with this phone .. ? cant find the price at the moment but I guarantee that it is 1/2 cheaper than new SGS2.
Check the Ainovo or Ainol. They are made in China and cheaper.
Thanks for the many replies!
But seriously? The SciPhone? It is too crappy even when not comparing it to other China smartphones, you should check out the specs first.
That Malata phone looks nice and quite powerful.
Any info on the Zopo ZP100?
I wouldn't doubt they make quality products (after all Foxconn has the largest force of electronics assembly personal the planet has ever seen) but how about that warranty?
Get some ZTE. Or something like that.
Chinese phones tend to have max 4 hours standby.

China also has their own better phone brands, iphone is produced in China, too. Difference is they don't have their own IOS. But this is not important, because android can be used freely. THL is a new phone brand, a ittle like HTC, you can check it out here http://www.tinydeal.com/thl-40-android-pxqd4o-p-52158.html or you can google it. Worth to buy.

I took a look at their phones, and the only thing that isn't great is the processor but that can always be overclocked. I'd buy one just to see how it performs.

There seems to be a lot of HTC clones on the chinese market.
After reading some posts on the internet and here about these kind of phones I think I might give them a chance after all. I mean theyre cheap, I could buy another one if it breaks.
But the question now is, where to buy one? Which are good shops that wont screw you over?
Meizu
I have to say the Meizu is a good one.
My cousin got one from china and I´ve got it in my hands.
It seems to be a powerful phone w/ fair quality.
All thing working properly, just some issues with the wifi sometimes.
Maybe I´ll get one for my son in the future...

No They Don't
Yes they do Value of a company is not estimated via pure financials but with estimation of market, realestate, workload, location ... ZTE has been a player for more than 20 years in China selling network euipment and their manufacture department is 5-6x bigger than any other company, and they also hold many many departments that do not go into fiscal calculation but still earn a shi*load of money.
they are also suppliers for more than 20 companies and their official sales are less than 10% of total earning.
and for the final conclusion, do the math yourself:
Apple/foxcon - 33.000 workers
ZTE - 90.000 workers
they all work in china where everyone on the same position is payed pretty much the same cash. How come ?

From what I've seen, in that they only release the phone invites in 10k-50k batches there are way less than 1M in circulation. That's just a guess. In comparison Apple claims that their sales were approaching 20M as of Monday.
There's a few people near me in the UK with a OPO but never seen any one else with one.
Got one and shared 3 invites to my girlfriend and my closer family...
They are all happy with their new ones... Great word play!
Think there will be some more in the wildlife but it will stay a mostly an Unknown phone...
So the fun telling the price of 300€ won't stop with all their sad faces when they tell you their payed amounts

I've received over 15 invites and have given them all out.

How important is the 2GB vs 3GB conundrum. Will there be a noticeable improvement or is it merely future proofing?
I ordered the 2/16 UL-00 and it performs great
Hi,
If you're not a gamer, I believe 2/16 is good enough. I was looking for it's huge screen, big battery and stylish build.
attached an UNTUTU. it works flawlessly with everything i put on. it has great power consumption tool, which let you know about applications in background which consumes more energy and an easy way to control it. also 4G is working in Israel.
I took the 2/16 just because the bling gold color and i don't regret.
If you're a gamer - check another opinion.

Software issues do not bother me so much but obviously the RAM issue does.
The upgrade policy of Huawei will be interesting, but I imagine they will have to provide a couple of updates at least.
Very agree with @MosheDrori
For everyday/business use, 2 GB RAM version is good enough. The EU version is sold at a very attractive price on Amazon France. If you are a frequent traveler, consider the Chinese TL00 UL00 Model which gives you an additional SIM slot, a great advantage if you are doing intercontinental business.
In the long run, 3 GB RAM is necessary. The APPS today consumes more RAM than ever and you will notice a difference. A real advantage is that, HUAWEI will release an OTA (beta test version we heard) this month, featuring dual-Android systems, and it is only intended for the 3 GB RAM premium version.
For software/system upgrade in the future, HUAWEI did not do very well in the past and we agree there are such concerns. A few DEV teams are building customized ROM for this machine and the life will be extended, sort of.

Yes, but it is not open for sale. You cannot add the item to the shopping basket, can you?
Let us give the true answer. HUAWEI release a very small quantity on their website, opening for sale on a certain time and a certain date, and the stock is swiped in 2-10 seconds. The real story is, they have enough stock and release it slowly to us, aka authorized vendors, at a significantly marked up price. We then sell the units to our customers, who deposit with us for a week or so. In this way, the machine is continuously labeled as the hottest machine in the market and the sale's price can stay strong for months, until a better machine is out there, which can compete with Mate 7! Is there such a machine there? Maybe, when Galaxy S6 is released or something else.
---------- Post added at 01:27 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:16 PM ----------
Add one more note:
For the past holiday (900 M USD of online sales generated in two days in China!!!), consumers can buy the Mate 7 under the condition that they buy accessories (i.e., noise canceling headphones, ~100 USD value) or Honor 6 (another HUAWEI phone, over 200 USD value) at the same time, on HUAWEI's official website, AND it is supplied as limited. Wanna buy a Mate 7 alone? No way at MSRP.
Unfortunately, more and more manufactures choose the hungry sale nowadays.

I can corroborate this. Honor is all about selling online, and so like the 5X, the 8 is available unlocked and not through carriers.
Like svetius stated, I guess it will be sold online (meaning it won't be sold through carriers, forever)

Does it matter? The carriers only charge a middle man fee anyways.
It is better to have it unlocked rather than carrier-locked (you know: bloatware, slower updates...etc)
This phone is only being sold as unlocked (GSM only) through their website and some retailers such as Best Buy, Newegg, and others.
With a locked bootloader and no source code for the Kirin processor, there is a very good chance there won't be any extra (XDA) development for this phone.

As with the what everyone has said it won't be through the carriers and I hate to say that will be a huge problem for their us release. Less then 3% of people in the US buy devices full retail. Mainly when you can get other flagship devices for nothing up front. I hope to see it as it this could be a great thing but I just don't think it will happen.
I'm just feeling disappointed as HTC does not treat customers with respect and it's not offering what every other phone makers would offer - a type c to 3.5mm converter and an accurate release date, which are both costless but important to customers.
I've been a fan of HTC since I got my HD2 many years ago, but this year I'm kind of disappointed with their attitude to its fans.
I am in Canada and is like the US , I still waiting mine.
Actually, I didn't want to react to it at all. But from what you've said, I have to write it ironically. You already had $100 discount codes, we Europeans didn't even have anything like an HTC Club. You already received promotional gifts when we didn't even know there was such a thing from HTC. You didn't open your mouths back then and said all fans should get the same options/discounts, so don't complain now that things are going the other way around. Honestly: everything balances out in life, and now we have just drawn the lucky one.
In general I say here in all frankness, just leave this America first attitude at home, and think sensibly for once. It is fair that we finally enjoy the benefits that you have enjoyed for years. This year it's just Europe first. Maybe there will come a time when it will again be the other way around.

Seriously this is pretty melodramatic because you had to wait a few extra days to get a phone.. HTC never made any promises about the release date to any country. Some regions of Europe got it early, lucky them. HTC doesn't owe you ****.
Knowing HTC phones and US carriers I can almost guarantee that HTC is taking every second it can before shipping to the US to ensure full compatibility with Verizon, T-Mo, and AT&T. There have been issues with the past couple of HTC phones so it makes sense they are trying to get it right.
I am eagerly awaiting my day one pre-order too, but it will get here when it gets here. HTC isn't treating you unfairly or discriminating against you.

Hi, I think you mistook what I said. The $100s coupons and gifts are what European customers get, not American or other regions' users. There's no HTC Club in the U.S but Europe.
I didn't mean US should get everything first. Actually I'm not American. I live and work in the US at the moment though. And I don't think I have the US first attitude.
The reason why I thought the phone would be released in the U.S first is that HTC held MeetU events in the U.S. first. I went to the one in SF and had an opportunity of getting hands on the phone, and at that time when I placed my order it said June 7th would be the release date.
I'm just feeling disappointed as HTC does not treat customers with respect and it's not offering what every other phone makers would offer - the converter and an accurate release date.
Amazon.com has had a solid release date this whole time. Originally, it was June 7 when HTC said the U12+ would ship in June. Now, Amazon says June 21 when HTC now says will ship in July. As for your other questions, HTC barely has a presence in the US anymore. When Samsung took over the market share, HTC stopped being carried in US stores (besides Sprint for the U11... and 10? I forget). I personally just don't think the US is a major priority for HTC anymore. Without being in stores, it's really difficult to move units... And maybe they stopped trying to get into US stores because it was costing more than the profit they were actually making before? The same thing happened with Blackberry. They've been struggling (as we all know) and haven't been in all US carriers either.

the only reason they arnt a main flagship carrier in the US is because of bad/lack of advertising while samsung constanly has consistent S series phone line while HTC has been all over the place with naming of phones and Samsung runs ads on television and youtube constanly, HTC just needs better marketing out in the US market, also my few cents here but can all the EU/Germany people cool down when someone from US posts they have a right in their own country to speak freely no matter how you may view their thoughts, so plz be respectful, all the original poster was saying how he feels that germany and all the EU markets are getting the phones first when the US market still hasnt gotten theirs still and even im kinda sad about that as well, it has nothing to do with entilement it has to do with a sense of fairness

USA is one of the regions where HTC U12+ was earliest announced and the SF and NYC MeetU events were the first two chances where fans had the opportunity of getting hands on the new phone. I thought HTC would treat US customers seriously, but by now it has done everything to make us unhappy instead.
1. European fans have been receiving their phones since last week or earlier, but in the US there's not even an accurate date.
2. European HTC Club members enjoy a fairly good discount, while US TeamHTC members get nothing at all.
3. European HTC Club members get a types-c to 3.5mm converter for free, but US customers will have to buy one by their own...
I really can't understand HTC's marketing strategy. At least it should treat all customers equally, right?
I've been a fan of HTC since I got my HD2 many years ago, but this year I'm kind of disappointed with their attitude to its fans.

Before I cancelled my preorder, I was to pay £629 with the HTC club discount. With a quick search online, $799.99 is £608. So that pays for the free dongle we get.
As for customer support, my bank card was cloned, and HTC have been just about useless helping me change it to my new card, so I won't get my preorder at all, so I cancelled it. At least I emailed them to cancel it and they haven't replied.
I agree customers should be treated equally where possible, but unfortunately HTC are almost sunk and doesn't seem they have the means to do so anymore.

There seems to be a missunderstanding between the two of you. The HTC Club discount for the U12+ is the first discount many countries have ever gotten in Europe. The US, on the other hand, got several discounts and gifts*, in the past. That's what @5m4r7ph0n36uru is referring to.
* these are only the first three examples I could find via google
this shouldn't be any surprise, HTC is pulling out of the US market...no longer carried by any of the carriers & not even supported on Sprint. HTC canned most of their US employees.
Enjoy a new HTC product in the US while you can, the end is near!

I think the network situation is gonna get better with tmobile/sprint merger as everyone has moved to GSM from CDMA and sprint is the last remaining CDMA carrier so i only expect things to get better after its finalized as i used to be on sprint and am happy with tmobile, i didnt make the move right away tho i tried at&t/criket wireless and it sucked and turned out to be more expensive when u want data, where tmobile im part of a company plan and get "unlimited" data where i only got slowed down if i needed to tether from an isp internet outage and was downloading games from steam but when i was it was usable after that still and phone call coverage wise its more usable than when i was on sprints, also are you gonna be making a debloated rom OMJ for this phone really liked the bad boyz rom for when i had the M7 when i had sprint?

Thanks @Flippy498 for clearing that one up. It's exactly what I wanted to state. Didn't want to attack anyone personally, or things like that. Just help clearing up what has been the case for years and is seemingly changing currently.

I don't think you meant Flinny.... I don't have a u12+ and currently am not planning on getting one. Not that I don't like the look of it but 24 month contracts...... and I have no REAL need for a new phone yet, at least enough to warrant buying one outright

The problem is no one at Amazon knows where the June 21 date came from. It's never been in stock to begin with!

They did received first shipment, but not enough. At least what they told me. Lol.
If they don't ship next week. I'll cancel and move to something else.

Well, every person I spoke to there said they never had it in stock. In any event, all we can do is wait.
