Android phones from China. - General Questions and Answers

Hi!
Im planning to buy a new phone, but for me the good ones are too expensive, so I thought I'd give a try a China phone. But are they reliable? I know they can break very fast but maybe there is a sort of good manufacturer. Right now I'm looking at Zopo ZP100 with 1Ghz CPU and stuff, are those any good?
Also what are reliable stores to buy these from? There are some phones like this on Ebay, but I dont know really.

No way dude!I would never do it.done it before with some electronic stuff from China (like the legendary sciphone!Lol what a piece of **** it was!!) I would rather save some money and buy a phone when I can afford it,or buy a used phone over eBay

He's right.. save your money and buy a proper phone.

Some Chinese developers have stolen Android and sold it as their own OS. I had a friend from China come to America as an exchange student with an Android phone that was called something else.

The Meizu Android Phones Are Great

I am Chinese, I bought my phone from this website, it is famous in China, but I do not know if it support English.
You could search 360buy with google

What the .. ?
First of all - China does not equal ****. Even their unbranded products got quality boost from the recent. Small companies are making their products with almost the western standard and they are pushing through.
ZTE is a company from Shenzhen, China, That has it's range of Android phones that are pretty good, and by the way - they now have more money than Samsung and Apple
Here is a nice example of how chinese phones need not to be total crap:
http://www.malata.com/en/product_detail.aspx?classid=700&id=149
I had the opportunity to check out Malata products with my own hands & eyes and I can tell you that their tablets look better than western makret tablets.
now tell me - is anything wrong with this phone .. ? cant find the price at the moment but I guarantee that it is 1/2 cheaper than new SGS2.

Check the Ainovo or Ainol. They are made in China and cheaper.

Thanks for the many replies!
But seriously? The SciPhone? It is too crappy even when not comparing it to other China smartphones, you should check out the specs first.
That Malata phone looks nice and quite powerful.
Any info on the Zopo ZP100?

I wouldn't doubt they make quality products (after all Foxconn has the largest force of electronics assembly personal the planet has ever seen) but how about that warranty?

Get some ZTE. Or something like that.
Chinese phones tend to have max 4 hours standby.

China also has their own better phone brands, iphone is produced in China, too. Difference is they don't have their own IOS. But this is not important, because android can be used freely. THL is a new phone brand, a ittle like HTC, you can check it out here http://www.tinydeal.com/thl-40-android-pxqd4o-p-52158.html or you can google it. Worth to buy.

I took a look at their phones, and the only thing that isn't great is the processor but that can always be overclocked. I'd buy one just to see how it performs.

Android is Free is it not?

There seems to be a lot of HTC clones on the chinese market.

After reading some posts on the internet and here about these kind of phones I think I might give them a chance after all. I mean theyre cheap, I could buy another one if it breaks.
But the question now is, where to buy one? Which are good shops that wont screw you over?

Meizu
I have to say the Meizu is a good one.
My cousin got one from china and I´ve got it in my hands.
It seems to be a powerful phone w/ fair quality.
All thing working properly, just some issues with the wifi sometimes.
Maybe I´ll get one for my son in the future...

hi
but i think the china phone QC is not good

No They Don't

Yes they do Value of a company is not estimated via pure financials but with estimation of market, realestate, workload, location ... ZTE has been a player for more than 20 years in China selling network euipment and their manufacture department is 5-6x bigger than any other company, and they also hold many many departments that do not go into fiscal calculation but still earn a shi*load of money.
they are also suppliers for more than 20 companies and their official sales are less than 10% of total earning.
and for the final conclusion, do the math yourself:
Apple/foxcon - 33.000 workers
ZTE - 90.000 workers
they all work in china where everyone on the same position is payed pretty much the same cash. How come ?

What can i expect from a china phone?

Hello,

I would like to know how it peforms in comparison to a htc magic.
I think i would buy a htc magic or a china phone but i dont really know which one would be better.

From experience I can tell you most but not all of the Chinese knockoffs are heavier and not as good build quality. Also I have always had problems with their capacitive touch screens. Call quality is decent depending on the phone, And it will be real android but good luck finding any dev support for it. Not trying to tell you which to get just trying to give you the facts of my personal experience.
w8 for these type of phones from china

The Samsung "R" is considered a cheaper version of the S2. It is probably better to get a used S2. The Magic was released two years ago, so a used Galaxy S or S2 would be a better idea. The "R" also has a bigger screen.
China phones are known to be cheaper in quality. Your money, so far, is used better elsewhere. Good luck !
i dont want to spent a lot of money for a smartphone so it will be a cheap normal phone or a china phone.
Could someone tell me more about the performance of china phones?
yours sincerely
ps: thanks so far for your replys
Many of the world's mobile phones are manufactured in China, quality is good, if it is China's domestic mobile phone is more limited, but the quality of foreign trade and price are guaranteed
You need to look for phones that have these names: Lenovo, Zopo, THL, ZTE, Meizu, and Huawei. They have good quality. Check out this site for some of the phone models mentioned and some reviews of China phones: China Phone Review
"Air Phone" vs "iPhone"
I wouldn't be in a hurry to buy one.
I cannot supply the following URL as I am a junior menmber; and very annoyingly I am NOT even allowed to thank people... (serioulsy)
"Youtube" then type the following "/watch?v=TUT39op2Pp8"
I did consider getting the "Air Phone 4" (See above) fortunately this review saved me the money. I'd be looking for a secondhand UK Android smartphone.
That said it is usually the data that is the expensive part; so I would be more concerned by the tarriff.
(HTC Rooted Sensation - ICS - Very happy with the HTC - I wouldn't now buy the iphone by choice)
---------- Post added at 10:18 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:09 AM ----------
Just followed your link - your chosen phone was £105.
According to Play.com (i'm sure they can be beaten on price)
HTC Explorer £100
HTC Wildfire £150
I would rather have an HTC rather than a random cheap deal.
For the best deal you do need to factor in calls/data/texts, say over 24 months usage.
I dont know about a phone, but I got my tablet from there and have had zero issues with it. Got the Novo 7 Aurora and I love it.

Looking for Reliable online Shop

Hey people Merry christmas and happy new year in advance.
I am looking for an online shop that sells android phones like goophone i5 or HDC I9300 and other awesome copies. I am from mauritius and well stuff are rather expensive here and by expensive i mean Real Iphone 5 is lets say approx USD 1100-1300. And well i really dont want to use that much money on a phone.
I've seen some sites like fastcardtech, chinaecarts and others, too many reviews with many different opinions and bad experiences like wrong product etc and also scam. Figured i could ask help from you guys.
Any links to some shops with good service, aftersales, response, handling, shipping, honesty. Well lets say great shops all in all. Please post them with any reviews and personal experiences that might help me out.
Or if you know high quality android smartphones for under $300 that play in the category of the likes of "LG Nexus 4, Galaxy S3" Lemme know.
Thanks,
Arshad

ok so i have settled for this phone. But i am still unsure. After much research there are too many conflicting answers and reviews.
1 moment scam, 1 moment good, 1 moment something else. I've even looked here and its the same. I don't know if its unsatisfied customers or people who never had any experience with them.
Could some people with experience with buying from android-sale.com light my path plz.
Thanks.
Hi folks. Did anyone know GlaDeal Store? It's trustworthy?
Update (13 March 2017)
After buying a Redmi 3s international got no reply for few days, then, after my second e-mail, they reply that: The phone wasn't available (but still available inside the online shop) then offer me to send me another phone, or refund. I choose refund cause Xiaomi (unless it is marked as international or global) it's not working in most of Europe country's due to the lack of Band B20 (800 mhz). They say the give refund the day after... I wait 2 days and nothing happens, so i call PayPal and pass the pratice to they. Curiously after vistit my shop account-board I saw that the refund was started, but with 8 euro less to the total amount that i pay for the phone.
I'm still waiting for PayPal for a reply. Anyway, they grant me for a total refund of the price that I paid.
Plus:
The online shop has security issues about SSL and DNS traffic. And this is not good at all for a shop that pretend to sell stuff online.
Greetings

[Q] Buying options between within the country or buying outside the country?

I want to know what would be the pros and cons of me buying between one within the UK or one from China if I were to buy an android TV stick. I compared amazon.com to another site (visopix.com) I don't know either also if the other site is reliable. Any thoughts about them? Because if I order from amazon, it is coming all the way from China while the other is within the UK and both offer free shipping. Is it worth paying a little extra to get the item from within the country already or what?
-Cheers

Agreed.
What's most important is that you're getting what you think you're getting - not where it's coming from.
I used to own a MacBook - it came direct from China when I got it. Even if I'm no longer a Mac fan, I know that Apple is a pretty trustworthy company in that they weren't going to be shipping me a pirated look-alike or a can of beans.
I buy things on eBay directly from China all the time. I make judgments depending on how much I think I trust the seller and from reviews. It coming from China or Hong Kong doesn't mean it's a bad product. If I need it fast, I can usually find a warehouse in my country that is stocking the same thing - which came to that warehouse from the exact same place in China - it usually costs a little more to get the exact same thing because the people operating the in-country warehouse need to recover their costs, too. They're just a middle-man.

Thank you for you input. A friend of mine just recommended the other site to me and he seemed pretty happy about his recent transaction with www.visopix.com I suppose I will think about whether to settle with the middle-man or not. It's just sometimes I do not like how they do the packaging from China and I end up with a damaged box or if I want to return it and the shipping internationally usually cost more.

Where To Buy And Where To Not

Post here all sites, where is safe for buy or where you saw or experienced scam (a site that stole you) an example
Good sites
www.dx.com
Bad sites
www.fastcardtech.com
)and put why do you recommend or say that a site is or isnt good(
www.dx.com : all their products have free shipping and they have many things
www.fastcardtech.com : they scam people, they steal, they sell the cheapest, but it is all a scam
with this we are helping people to know where they buy, or where they are going to buy, share your experiences

The site is reliable, but don't expect much quality (screen, construction, materials) or development options on Chinese phones (most of it will have to be made by yourself).
Look up on internet if there is a developers community for the specific model, but if this doesn't bother you, you like the features of the phone, and it's a good option for you (price), buy it.
Greetings,
I usually buy from Amazon, be careful with eBay there are some fake electronics there with poor quality, especially in terms od cheap chargers and phones.
Buyincoins.Com (china) is reliable in terms of delivery and payment. Also, free shipping and they know to mark stuff as a gift to avoid import costs.
Actually, about 70% of the stuff from DealExtreme (dx.com) comes from buyincoins. (it literally said so on both the packages I got from dx, but they charged me twice what buyincoins asked and took 6 weeks longer to get here.)
Just don't expect the pictures on the immitation products (like a nameless ipod) to be accurate.

[Q] Why is Everything More Expensive in Asia?

Hi everyone,
I'm living in Thailand right now. Before I came here I was lucky enough to pick up the Nexus 7 (2012) 32 GB for around $230 at the time at Office Depot. I erroneously thought that electronics would be cheaper here because I would be closer to the source of production, Korea, Japan, and Taiwan for example.
However, it's pretty impossible to find a Google Nexus device out here. When I do find them they are usually $100 over what you would pay in the States at least. It seems like a lot of people buy Samsung tablets and phones out here but the prices are the same as Apple. A 2012 Nexus 7 would cost as much as the iPad Mini out here. I haven't even seen a store with the 2013 version available.
So why is this? Asus and LG are both companies located in Asia, but they pay maybe twice as much in some cases for something I could get in the States. Meanwhile Apple stuff is pretty similarly priced.

yes this is the norm in ASIA and third world countries, they basically try to claim government taxes and duties are at fault but I would assume the importers and middlemen also have a higher percentage and since there is no control as this would be considered a luxury item...prices are always on the high end compared to States and Europe. At times it looks so ridiculous that even at such steep prices, they are in demand and NO one really complains about it. . just my two cents
Check this out! You , YES! you are an " Android ". Not your phone but U.
This is because of government taxes
