How important is the 2GB vs 3GB conundrum. Will there be a noticeable improvement or is it merely future proofing?
I ordered the 2/16 UL-00 and it performs great
Hi,
If you're not a gamer, I believe 2/16 is good enough. I was looking for it's huge screen, big battery and stylish build.
attached an UNTUTU. it works flawlessly with everything i put on. it has great power consumption tool, which let you know about applications in background which consumes more energy and an easy way to control it. also 4G is working in Israel.
I took the 2/16 just because the bling gold color and i don't regret.
If you're a gamer - check another opinion.
cheers,

I'm not a gamer really, no. I don't have time to play games lol.
So you think the 2GB might be a good compromise? I'm torn right now.

not compromise - its great for non gamers.
the disturbing is some Chines characters and apps, you can easily solve.
I can't tell about camera much.
the worry is about community and android version upgrade policy of Huawei

Software issues do not bother me so much but obviously the RAM issue does.
The upgrade policy of Huawei will be interesting, but I imagine they will have to provide a couple of updates at least.
Very agree with @MosheDrori
For everyday/business use, 2 GB RAM version is good enough. The EU version is sold at a very attractive price on Amazon France. If you are a frequent traveler, consider the Chinese TL00 UL00 Model which gives you an additional SIM slot, a great advantage if you are doing intercontinental business.
In the long run, 3 GB RAM is necessary. The APPS today consumes more RAM than ever and you will notice a difference. A real advantage is that, HUAWEI will release an OTA (beta test version we heard) this month, featuring dual-Android systems, and it is only intended for the 3 GB RAM premium version.
For software/system upgrade in the future, HUAWEI did not do very well in the past and we agree there are such concerns. A few DEV teams are building customized ROM for this machine and the life will be extended, sort of.

OK. I think I will go for the 3GB version, but I may wait a few weeks for it to come down in price. I assume the prices are very high right now due to lack of stock.
This doesn't look too bad cost wise:

Yes, the prices will decrease. In Pakistan the expected price of 16/2gb is aroud 500 USD. Where as on vmall.com(Huawei store official) its price is similar. Also in Cambodia state its price is 470$. In hongkong its price is also about 500 USD.

We DISLIKE HUAWEI's hungry sale! We DISLIKE any kind of hungry sale. It is close to holiday season and there is rarely a competitor out there in the market now.The price of the premium version likely will not come down in a month.

Yes, but it is not open for sale. You cannot add the item to the shopping basket, can you?
Let us give the true answer. HUAWEI release a very small quantity on their website, opening for sale on a certain time and a certain date, and the stock is swiped in 2-10 seconds. The real story is, they have enough stock and release it slowly to us, aka authorized vendors, at a significantly marked up price. We then sell the units to our customers, who deposit with us for a week or so. In this way, the machine is continuously labeled as the hottest machine in the market and the sale's price can stay strong for months, until a better machine is out there, which can compete with Mate 7! Is there such a machine there? Maybe, when Galaxy S6 is released or something else.
---------- Post added at 01:27 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:16 PM ----------
Add one more note:
For the past holiday (900 M USD of online sales generated in two days in China!!!), consumers can buy the Mate 7 under the condition that they buy accessories (i.e., noise canceling headphones, ~100 USD value) or Honor 6 (another HUAWEI phone, over 200 USD value) at the same time, on HUAWEI's official website, AND it is supplied as limited. Wanna buy a Mate 7 alone? No way at MSRP.
Unfortunately, more and more manufactures choose the hungry sale nowadays.

Hi!
Im planning to buy a new phone, but for me the good ones are too expensive, so I thought I'd give a try a China phone. But are they reliable? I know they can break very fast but maybe there is a sort of good manufacturer. Right now I'm looking at Zopo ZP100 with 1Ghz CPU and stuff, are those any good?
Also what are reliable stores to buy these from? There are some phones like this on Ebay, but I dont know really.

He's right.. save your money and buy a proper phone.
Some Chinese developers have stolen Android and sold it as their own OS. I had a friend from China come to America as an exchange student with an Android phone that was called something else.
The Meizu Android Phones Are Great
I am Chinese, I bought my phone from this website, it is famous in China, but I do not know if it support English.

What the .. ?
First of all - China does not equal ****. Even their unbranded products got quality boost from the recent. Small companies are making their products with almost the western standard and they are pushing through.
ZTE is a company from Shenzhen, China, That has it's range of Android phones that are pretty good, and by the way - they now have more money than Samsung and Apple
Here is a nice example of how chinese phones need not to be total crap:
http://www.malata.com/en/product_detail.aspx?classid=700&id=149
I had the opportunity to check out Malata products with my own hands & eyes and I can tell you that their tablets look better than western makret tablets.
now tell me - is anything wrong with this phone .. ? cant find the price at the moment but I guarantee that it is 1/2 cheaper than new SGS2.
Check the Ainovo or Ainol. They are made in China and cheaper.
Thanks for the many replies!
But seriously? The SciPhone? It is too crappy even when not comparing it to other China smartphones, you should check out the specs first.
That Malata phone looks nice and quite powerful.
Any info on the Zopo ZP100?
I wouldn't doubt they make quality products (after all Foxconn has the largest force of electronics assembly personal the planet has ever seen) but how about that warranty?
Get some ZTE. Or something like that.
Chinese phones tend to have max 4 hours standby.

There seems to be a lot of HTC clones on the chinese market.
After reading some posts on the internet and here about these kind of phones I think I might give them a chance after all. I mean theyre cheap, I could buy another one if it breaks.
But the question now is, where to buy one? Which are good shops that wont screw you over?

I have to say the Meizu is a good one.
My cousin got one from china and I´ve got it in my hands.

No They Don't
Yes they do Value of a company is not estimated via pure financials but with estimation of market, realestate, workload, location ... ZTE has been a player for more than 20 years in China selling network euipment and their manufacture department is 5-6x bigger than any other company, and they also hold many many departments that do not go into fiscal calculation but still earn a shi*load of money.
they are also suppliers for more than 20 companies and their official sales are less than 10% of total earning.
and for the final conclusion, do the math yourself:
Apple/foxcon - 33.000 workers
ZTE - 90.000 workers
they all work in china where everyone on the same position is payed pretty much the same cash. How come ?

Unknown as of yet. Rumors go that, while the 64 GB version will officially go retail in somewhat less than two weeks, the 32 GB version will only start shipping when existing stocks of 32 GB Primes have run out. All predictions I have seen to date have put it somewhere in September, with some suggesting slippage of the release date to the holiday season (i.e., Christmas time).

Oh, one thing that is very important. When you create an account with this site, they send you back and email containing both your username and password in cleartext TO THE EMAIL FROM WHICH YOU SIGNED UP. If you aren't understanding why this is important, they pretty much exposed your personal information to anyone doing email sniffing. What I mean by that is if anyone intercepts the email back from these people they have access to your account which most likely, if you've ordered from them, has your credit and addresses/shipping information. Means, they can order stuff on your card and have it shipped anywhere else.
In the end, I wouldn't order from these folks, not only because they seem really bad about specs, but because their site is really insecure in how it handles personal information (PII). Who knows how they handle PCI?
Yet, the price is $369, the specs say that the housing is plastic, and quite a number of other "discrepancies" that make no sense to me, but I'm pasting/sharing this. I imagine, eventually the pricing and the specs and compatibility will shake out based on the units that do get sold. I also speculate that the pricing will drop based on units sold.
Does anyone else think the price will drop of this device?

Aliexpress is a very reputable site to buy stuff. The only downside is if you bundle a few things together, so, I added a glass screen shield and a clear backed TPU case and each and every one shipped separately. They're like the Amazon of China and while Amazon can give you the ability to bundle all the disparate vendors into a single shipment, i don't think AliExpress lets you do that.

Not disagreeing with you at all. I'm in the same boat with T-Mobile. the worst that will happen is that I'll get 3G and no 4G. Most days in most places, I'm on WiFi any way. However, it's nice to have a device that's actually supported.
Same as on 3 UK they use band 3 and band 20 looks like only one band supported

So, it's not guaranteed to work in the US
it's not guaranteed to be compatible with the LTE networks
it's overpriced.
Conclusion, wait until they release a US-compatible version.

I think the price is so expensive because Huawei really hasn't done a full release yet. It seems to just be trickling out. The one person who said they bought one had to go to China to get it. lol. I think once it's officially released that you will see a more reasonable price.
It is up on Amazon.de at a very reasonable €499, no expected stock date though.
EU only...

I just tried it as a lark, won't ship to any US address in my book. This is also from what I can tell, for the 2Gb/16Gb version. Good luck to everyone out there. Gives me hope that the device is expected in stock then. Might be a feeding frenzy until a general release is made. I'd still suggest waiting. It's the difference between having it first, or having it at a reasonable price in my opinion.
You can use mailboxde to order from German amazon and have it forwarded to you.
Thank you

Thanks for that, should have known, i used to use a mail-forwarding site like this when I lived in Central America for my US mail. So, the EU to USD conversion is about ~$632 (give or take fluctuations in economies). Still, to me it's worth it to wait. This version is not compatible with the US-T-Mobile bands (or maybe it is, conflicting answers).

Will US Carriers sell the Honor 8 or will it strictly be available through Hauwei's online suppliers?
No, they will not.
"Honor 8 is going up for pre-order tomorrow for $399 for the 32GB model and $449 for the 64GB model, and it will be available at Amazon, Best Buy, B&H Photo and HiHonor.com. This is an unlocked smartphone, and is not heading to any carriers, unfortunately. However, the Honor 8 will work on both AT&T and T-Mobile here in the US."

I can corroborate this. Honor is all about selling online, and so like the 5X, the 8 is available unlocked and not through carriers.
Like svetius stated, I guess it will be sold online (meaning it won't be sold through carriers, forever)
The preorder went live yesterday, with 50 dollar in credits. The 32gb (399) will become 349 and the 64gb (449) will be 399..not bad at all

Does it matter? The carriers only charge a middle man fee anyways.
It is better to have it unlocked rather than carrier-locked (you know: bloatware, slower updates...etc)
This phone is only being sold as unlocked (GSM only) through their website and some retailers such as Best Buy, Newegg, and others.
With a locked bootloader and no source code for the Kirin processor, there is a very good chance there won't be any extra (XDA) development for this phone.

Now wheres the 64gb version at =\ I want that model not the 32gb.
It will be in their best interest to have ROMS etc for this phone....
This could be the killer handset of the year if they play their cards right.
It has so much going for it

Honor should deliver anything related to development (bootlaoder unlock, source code and even device tree if possible) to make things great
I'm going to wait and see what Huawei does with the bootloader unlock and doubt they would release source code, they haven't done so with the P9.

As with the what everyone has said it won't be through the carriers and I hate to say that will be a huge problem for their us release. Less then 3% of people in the US buy devices full retail. Mainly when you can get other flagship devices for nothing up front. I hope to see it as it this could be a great thing but I just don't think it will happen.
Perhaps OnePlus 6 isn't selling as well internationally. The device is already on sale at GearBest for $499. Unusual for a brand new phone from OnePlus to already be on sale.
Gearbest? The site that sells factory faulty phones? Ok lmao

That doesn't change the fact that they're trying to move slow moving stock.

OnePlus has revealed that they managed to sell more than one million units of its latest OnePlus 6 flagship smartphone in less than a month. Specifically, the company achieved the feat in 22 days.
Here's what CEO Pete Lau said:
Since before OnePlus launched, we've always taken care to listen closely to our users and deliver smartphones which combine design and power. The OnePlus 6 is our most balanced handset yet, combining style and speed for a unique experience. Our approach has been rewarded by returning users and new customers alike, and we're grateful to the OnePlus community as the OnePlus 6 has become our fastest selling handset ever
For comparison, both OnePlus 5 and 5T took around three months to cross the one million milestone. The company also revealed the 256GB OnePlus 6 has proven to be the most popular variant of the device, although sales figure for the model wasn't revealed.
OnePlus also shared some other OnePlus 6-related tidbits, like over 15,000 people queued across 26 pop-ups in 11 countries across the world, and the OnePlus 6 launch event sold-out with over 1,000 tickets bought in under 10 hours.
"This year, OnePlus has added a number of retail partners with major operators in Europe; Telia (Sweden), Three (Denmark), and Belsimpel (Netherlands), and most recently signing a deal with Bouygues (France). In addition, the OnePlus 6 is available on Amazon in Italy, Germany, France and Spain."

First, it's not a fact. It's you opinion.
Second, gearbest does that all the time with all phones. I get that you are not familiar with Gearbest and other Chinese sites.
That's not a sales price IMO. That's a ****y price to pay for something that you won't get any warrant.
Third, who cares if they are selling or not? Why are people so invested on how many phones the company they bought something from are selling? See this discussion all the time. It's funny and sad at the same time.
They could go to bankruptcy tomorrow I would still be happy using my phone.

How about showing some actual sales numbers from an independent source versus company propaganda? In the land of the blind, the person with one eye is King. Meaning, those that can't see clearly are easily fooled.
