What Does the ORANGE text at boot mean? - HTC U12+ Questions & Answers

like the title says does it mean the bootloader is unlocked, and denotes its a test unit or does it just mean its a test unit with s-on?

questions/advice needed

I have a G4 device. I bought it brand new as a gray market. I kind of have a feeling it may already be cid unlocked. So I just want to see if it is locked or unlocked. Would there be any danger of trying to load a shipped ROM from imate or qtek?
If an error pops up, then I have a locked device. But if no error pops up then it is an unlocked device?
thanks

Help!!! HTC Repair changed my CID and bootloader to "Security Unlocked"

Hi All
I had a problem with my TyTN II camera it was showing horizontal and vertical lines. So i sent it for repair and they replaced the camera.
It looks like they have reflashed my device to a different boot loader and changed the CID to a HTC test device. This is a full production release device that I bought from Expansys UK
Once I noticed a problem when I tried installing TomTom from the CD. It gave me an error. "Unable to install application. Please update your device ROM to the required version before trying again." I checked Model No in Device Information > Identity and it shows "Kaiser" I am not too sure but I thought this was KAIS130 before I sent it for repair, can someone confirm what it shows on your TyTN II.
I then tried to flash the HTC WWE shipped ROM and it gave me invalid vender ID.
Went in to bootloader and noticed at the top of the screen it shows "Security Unlocked" see attached image I have never seen this before what does this mean.
mtty commands shows.
info 2
HTCSTEST1234 ‹q:HTCE
Cmd>getdevinfo
GetDevInfo: Get CID OK
HTCSKAIS1300TS13HTCE
Cmd>
What does this security unlocked mean?
Will bootloader which is security unlocked be any use to the ROM cookers on here?
Should I complain and send the unit back to get reflased?
Just Flash HardSPL which can be found in the sticky's in Kaiser Uprading and your good to flash any rom you like!
That is what i was planning to do use HardSPL.
But will this mean i will not have a shipped ROM matching my CID if things go wrong in the future.
Can some one please confirm what model it shows on a TyTN II on Settings > System > Device Information > Identity
on mine (ITA version) Model is Kaiser.
If something goes wrong at this point you can just flashg back to the old SPL using the custom wrapper. Before you flash any ROM your best bet is to instal HardSPL your just asking for trouble if you don't period.
Dils, were you able to fixed your tomtom problem? If not, i suggest you send it back to HTC service center so they can fix your problem.

[Q] Help back to S-ON sensation

Hi everybody, i'm new on this forum 'cause i'm french indeed i spend my time on Frandroid.fr !
First of all i would like to say sorry for my bad english i'll use i'm just trying to do my best in order to you can read this message.
So, i'm here because i have a problem with my HTC sensation, he had the problem that he powered off all the time even when i didn't use it. To escape this problem i flashed an ICS ROM with Recovery etc.. Then the problem hasn't been resolved so i decided to send my phone at the warranty, but before i have to put my sensation in S-ON, so i used the RUU VODAFONE and i changed my CID in VODPA203. I've seen that there were 3 steps before put the phone in S-ON, first i must have an Hboot less than 1.18 that i have, second be in official ROM that i have and the last step is have a CID HTC that i have (VODAP203).
The problem i have is that on the bootloader, i haven't got the ***LOCKED*** at the top of the screen (sorry i can't put my photo links yet...)
In other words, i THINK, but i'm not sure that my bootloader is not LOCKED.
So can i do the process in order to put my phone in S-ON without the ***LOCKED*** ? Is it risky to do it without ?
I hope that you'll understand my message because it's probably bad english, and a bit to long but i think that i had to explain my problem to you understand.
Thank you, Sharazed.
Not clear enough but not for the english.
What your bootloader says? **unlocked** or **locked** (I think unlocked).
If you attempt to lock again by HtcDev it will show **re-locked**.
The bootloader is now officially unlockable by htc so I wouldn't worry about it.
Not clear if you went back to s-on already or not.
This guide can be useful (step 5)
That's the problem !
Nothing is written at the top of my bootloader, neither LOCKED nor UNLOCKED, just start with PYRAMID...
I can't show you the screen because i have to post 8 messages before.. Normally there is written LOCKED or UNLOCKED but not on my bootloader, that's why i'm asking you if i can do the process, i'll see your link thank's !
After read your link i can't do it from number 6 (STEP 5) to number 9 cause i'm not sure that's my phone is locked.
You never had nothing on top since you had this phone?
I mean no **locked** and no **unlocked**?
By the way if you were able to flash an ics rom (with new firmware and custom recovery), obviously you are unlocked and s-off
Yes i think that i'm unlocked because before used the RUU i was unlocked but as it's not sure, i'm scared to brick my phone you know.
So i hope that i 'll can send you my pictures then you could compare with other phones, but on the french forum, nobody ever seen that before i can write you what i see on my bootloader:
PYRAMID PVT SHIP S-OFF RL
HBOOT-1.17.0008
RADIO_10.11.9007.15_M
eMMC-boot
May 13 2011, 21:04:57
That's what i see !
Thank's !
Definitely your phone is unlocked.
You couldn't be S-Off, if it was locked.
Hboot is the right one for GB.
You can go through the S-ON procedure without problems.
Just be carefull and follow instructions.
Please hit thanks button if you wish
What do you mean by GB ?
Ginger Bread (android 2.3)
Okay, but i read that i had to be LOCK before go to S-ON so is it dangerous ?

There is no need to lock again for 2 reasons.
1) Bootloader is officially unlockable by HtcDev. If you lock again it will show **re locked**. Your warranty is void in any case.
Your bootloader has never been locked (according to what you said).
I don't understant because on the french tutorial, it says that i must have my bootloader locked and hboot inferior at 1.18 then if the bootloader is unlocked by revolutionnary (that i had before use the RUU) it's not advisable to back to S-ON.
And you are telling me that i need not to put my bootloader locked to do the process ?
I'm totally lost !
I have to write 8 messages before link my pictures, you'll see my case
Locking bootloader and S-On are 2 different things.
Your situation is uncommon because the sensation is usually shipped **locked** and S-On.
Then, in order to S-Off you need to unlock first.
In your case you are S-Off already without unlocking by HtcDev, so it means that it was shipped unlocked (strange but this is what you say), hence no need to relock in my opinion.
No he wasn't usually shipped UNLOCKED (S-OFF..), but i have unlocked it because my phone is knowing reboot lonely, so i decided to flash Recovery and ICS rom, but with the ROM the bug had persisted.
And now I used the RUU to erase the ICS rom and put my phone in S-ON, but after using the RUU and follow all steps, i see that nothing is written at the top of my bootloader, neither ***LOCKED*** nor ***UNLOCKED*** as before..
So i'm asking you if i can finally put my phone in S-ON without the word LOCKED at the top of my bootloader ?!
Thank's !
Little up !
Nobody know ?

[Q] Warranty [How to?]

Hello I'm about to send my phone for a repairs to HTC. I'm currently rooted, tampered, s-on and with custom CID 111...
Any suggestions what I need to do? I mean I'll lock the bootloader and install stock RUU but is it enough? Or nothing will help they'll know that it was rooted?
Your bootloader will still show RELOCKED... The only way would be S-OFF.
And don't forget to replace the CID.

So first of all I need to S-OFF and only then replace CID to stock?
Because to S-OFF it says "you must have supercid"
Exactly!

But what do I change it to? Because unfortunately I don't remember my original CID
Because it used to say H3G (network code) and now I installed some european RUU
Is (was) your phone branded? Also, which country are you from?

United Kingdom, if you mean was it bought from network provider then yes it's branded.
P.S. some people told me to do: fastboot oem writecid, is it correct, will it change it?

Yes, it's correct. I suggest that you use Hasoon's All In One Toolkit, though: it helps a lot automating things (avoiding command line) if you are not very familiar with these things. You can find it in the development subforum.
The point is writing the correct CID. Do you remember if your software was customized by your carrier (e.g. with carrier-related apps)? Do you have your carrier name physically printed on the phone? Not all phones sold by carriers are branded: for example, I bought it from H3G but it's unbranded.
If this wasn't the case, I would go with the generic UK CID (if exists), or with the international CID (that is HTC__001).

Phone is on contract and yes it had carrier apps but on the phone there is no signatures it just looks standard. But now I installed htcs european ruu so probably it doesn't matter.
So I've changed it to HTC__001.
P.S. my bootloader says: unlocked, do I need to lock it or it doesn't matter for a warranty?
I agree, about the cid matter.
About the bootloader, that's the most important part: you need to make it say "LOCKED", otherwise.they will probably deny your warranty. The issue is, if you now lock the bootloader it will say RELOCKED, so they'll know that you've actually unlocked. You need to s-off and then get back the LOCKED label. There's a walkthrough about it, you will easily find it.
Yes thanks for the help I found out how to change it

If you now go back to s-on (it shouldn't be necessary for warranty but who knows...) be sure to use a ruu first.
And whenever you need to thank someone's posts, use the thanks button!

What's up with my U12+??

Hi, I bought my u12+ at a bargain price second hand like new ( what seller said ), as I'm one person that check things out, i found out that in download mode the phone say ( it's completely stock ): locked, production, pvt s-on but at the bottom SECURITY CHECKING FAILED DENY and this is not normal i think??
the other is that trying for fun antutu gave me a score of 291k ( latest pie ) but it's saying that MEM user experience score is abnormal ( 17k )
i read that this is the case when you install a custom kernel or disable fsync but how can it be as my phone is completely stock??

Hi,
If there is the message CHECK SAFETY FAILURE DENY, it is probably stock but unlocked and maybe root? You can always flash a stock RUU if there is a doubt.
PS: Is it marked UNLOCKED? if it is, it is unlocked.

what is showing to me is the same as this thread ( photo ), https://forum.xda-developers.com/u11/help/security-checking-failed-t3933030 , they stated that probably the phone was unlocked and then relocked before selling it ( ?? )
still cannot understand why i do have abnormal score in mem as it is locked and full stock

Hi,
The message is the same at home as it is Unlocked !! Or you have a micro SD card if a default and gives a problem test? There can also be a bug software? You can always go through a stock RUU and start again with a clean base.
PS: If it is ulocked it is displayed in red both in bootloader mode and downloade
this what I was talking about, does anyone with a completely stock phone and pie have same result?
