I just broke my gorilla glass from samsung galaxy s i9000. The display is working, it doesn't have any problems, but the glass is all broken.
Is there any way to replace just the outer glass, without buying the full display, and if yes, how can I do that?
I've seen on ebay the outer glass just to buy, but I don't know if there's a method of changing that.
Thank you!
I'd say it's possible but freaking hard. If I remember well, I've read that the glass and the display is glued together or something like that? So if you managed to get those away from each other, and can place the new one nicely, maybe ^^
Youtube will be your friend on this one, there are plenty of guides on how to do this, and plenty of parts available to do so. If you don't feel comfortable doing it yourself, there are likely small stores that can do it for you. I know in Hamilton, there is a small shop in the middle of one of our malls that do phone repairs like this, you might have luck looking for an electronics store in your area that offers the same sort of service.
i have broken the glass of galaxy s
i have also the same problem..
my gorilla glass is cracked..
can u give me the link from where i can buy the gorilla glass for my samsung galay s gt-i9000..
thank you.
Search ebay or focalprice.com
Hi guys,
I'm hoping that one of you has experience of this and can guide me. I have managed to drop my DS (not for the first time) and damaged the digitizer panel. There are various people on ebay selling replacements, but some mention nothing about the double-sided tape and some state they don't include it. I will be fairly happy to replace the screen myself, but just wonder if I should be using a specific double-sided tape pre-cut, or just use any normal tape and cut it myself?
Cheers
any will do long as its very thin, watch u dnt cover the led hole up tho!
Thanks Dan. Ended up buying a roll off Amazon, so I've got about 5 miles of it left.
save it for next time!
i never understood why they only sell it in football pitch lengths and not like enough to do like 2 phones
Hey... My screen shattered this past week while playing hockey (the puck hit my phone) and now the screen is completely blank.
I'm looking to order a nice screen, could someone please suggest where I could get one in Canada?
Thanks!
Only in Canada...sorry had to
Your digitizer is hosed. Find a replacement on Ebay.
Then look to youtube to study tear-down/disassemble tutorial because the S5 is not as easy as previous Galaxy models.
I replaced mine several months ago and all is well.
As a hockey player myself! left wing\defense. Where was your phone?

What adhesive did you use to secure the screen back to the housing? I see a lot of pre-cut adhesive stickers on ebay, and I bought a few of them. They're not as sticky as the original.
I seem to remember purchasing one of the black ones. Mine went back on ok but you'll never get a perfect seal again so forget about water resistance. That's gone for good.
Luckily I have a Zero Lemon extended battery so the case serves to keep the glass pressed against the body of the phone. I don't think I would trust the screen to not eventually lift free if not for the overlap of the TPU cover that came with the battery.
I've replaced glass on my S3 and S4 and used TPU covers on them afterwards for the above reason. Again, once the glass or digitizer are changed, they never adhere back as well as they were from the factory.
Noticed this recently. Seems like outer film is peeling off in more than one spot. Any one else experienced this and know why this happens? Cheap quality perhaps?

Not had it myself, but this owner has! They're getting theirs fixed under warranty by Samsung apparently.....

i too have the same problem at similar place any idea if this kind of paint failure is covered in warranty in INDIA??
I took my Frontier to the Samsung Repair Centre today and after a 10 minute inspection by one of the engineers, the customer executive came back and told me that they will not repair it because the peeling does not affect the watch's performance unless I fork out cash which I am not going to do. End of story... I am based in Hong Kong so if you have a similar issue and Samsung in your region are willing to fix your watch free of charge within the warranty period then count yourself fortunate.

In your picture, the peeling is inside of the bezel, so I don't know how it could happen?
Any strike that makes it scratched?
My guess is sweat caused it because I use my S3 for tracking my runs a lot. I'm tempted to peel it all off
Have the same.

I have 2 watches and both have the same problem. Without the dial, it looks like the gear sport. Cheap paint work.
I'm glad I got the classic after looking at the pictures. That really sucks for you guys. Samsung should do something about this.
I've worn mine for months doing everything and I've seen no peeling. I suspect this is a problem affecting a small number of watches that came out in the same production run.
Therre is a guy at reddit who go it fixed by warranty.
Give your one year old S3 a new lease of life
Managed to remove all the film around the screen using water and a scraping tool.
Looks better than the Gear Sport in my biased opinion.

Thinking of removing mine as well. because of the peeling issue. Was the film hard to remove and does it break into small pieces when trying to take the film off?

Not hard at all. Just wet it with water and use a plastic scraper. It comes off really easily since its just a fine layer of thin plastic that isn't really stuck on with adhesive. Its brittle and just flakes off as you scrape.
Where can one source the rear glass from?
My Pixel 2 dropped from an ottoman onto a tile floor landing on its back top corner, and spider-webbed the back glass panel. I just measured this little ottoman - it's only 22" tall. A fall of 22" is all it takes.
My biggest concern is the spider web effect actually chipped the glass, where the glass breaks off in very tiny pieces. And it's depositing tiny glass particles all around the house - where i have a 1 year old toddler all over the floors. Not to mention my pants' pockets and my desk. I'll go pickup a cheap cover to keep the glass from crumbling all over the floors for now.
I see these "uBreakiFix" stores can replace the glass for $150 or so at a local store. I have no local store near me, nor do I think $150 is worth a tiny piece of glass. But they seem to be able to get the glass replacements.
I have repaired dozens of our tablets and phones of the years so I have no issue with that part. I just need to source the glass.
Thanks!

Hi, did you managed to get the pixel2 rear Glass? I had the same problem, but, I live in Brasil and have no one around to do the job.

Nope, not yet. For now I just got a cover until I can get a replacement.
Same problem, the google staff in Italy ask me around 200€. The rear glass for Pixel 1 is on eBay for 5€ and on what I've seen in YouTube it just need 5 minute of work.....
Keep in touch for the first who will find the replacement

Found this, so I'm trying it when it arrives
Hey man, just wondering if you can tell us anything new? My back glass shattered too and the glass itself isn't too expensive now. But can you get the old one off without complete disassembly? So many teardowns and nobody touched the back glass.
