Ok so I got my nexus 5 on November 2013. It fell in water and it no longer shows the screen properly but it charges and loads up on pc fine. Can I get a replacement at no cost? The warranty says it doesn't cover psychical damage. If I have to pay for phone again, I'm gonna get Sony Waterproof phone, no point in wasting money on something inferior. This is a picture of the background, it's meant to be one colour

My friend put his iphone in the fridge and got replacements.
Of course you have to pay if you dropped it in water. Sorry, but why would you expect to get it replaced for free?
Just because this phone isn't waterproof, doesn't mean it's an inferior product. Almost all phones aren't waterproof.
Warranty doesn't cover accidental damage. It covers manufacturer defects. You dropping the phone in water is not a defect. Not of the phone anyway
Unless you have insurance, you'll be buying a new phone.

Not to mention against the law. As sue happy as apple is, if they knew they'd probably sue him.
You messed up. It was your fault. No, it is not, nor will it ever be someone else's responsibility to cover for your stupidity. That being said, suck it up and pay for a new phone.

It depends. There are water indication stickers placed inside the phone that change color when they come into contact with water. If the water never reached the indicators, then they have no proof. BUT the indicators are always put in places where water is most likely to go first, so even if you had your phone out of the water quick enough and dried it off, it still probably wouldn't have made a difference. I say do the right thing. Instead of trying to commit fraud, just buy a new phone.

Just leave it in a bag of rice. It'll attract a Chinese man. And they're very good with electronics

Either way you're not going to see it in a screenshot. I once had quite a long conversation about a guy who thought dead pixels would appear in his screenshots. He then started calling android ridiculous because it didn't have that feature.
This guy is obviously trolling, nobody could be stupid enough to post a screenshot thinking it would show physical damage. Just report the thread and don't feed into it anymore.
edit: This thread feels vaguely familiar to me. Pretty sure someone tried to troll here a while back with the exact same scenario, posting screenshot and all.

As already said, yes, they can prove you dropped it in water, and no, you will most likely not get a (free) replacement. That's all that can be said about it.
And as already mentioned, putting it into rice is always the best bet with wet electronics

Sure. I've showered a couple times with phones on me with no damage. Now if its a toaster, TV, radio or anything with more electricity, you might get jolted!

No, it has no rating for water restistance but who in their right mind would use a phone in the shower? There may be/are waterproof cases available though, search Google for that.
If it's for research you should also test if it will float in the toilet. To be thorough, test with clean water and then test with varying degrees of unclean water, and carefully note each result. Personally I'd try to bend it with my hands first, checking if the area of your grip and or amount of fingers on the screen has any impact on flexibility/bending, then see if it bounces (and which surface works best for bouncing it/elasticity), then see if it floats last (clean/unclean water... It would be great research

I ****ing love the z ultra, but i've been hearing way too many complaints about it's screen size and i want to be able to carry it around in my pocket.
then i'm left with nexus 5 and lg g2, both same price tag, lg g2 seems to have an advantage in hardware but it won't get updates as fast as the nexus 5.
but i think i'll be going with g2 cause of it's bigger screen and better camera, would someone know if the g2 will receive the android lollipop? since it has the same specs or better than the nexus 5 it wouldn't make sense for lg to left it out.
Updates are OEM prerogative. Some like fewer updates to sell next model. Some like more updates to provoke loyalty.
Try asking in the G2 forum. We don't.really know about that phone.

This weekend I noticed when aiming towards the sun I get some kind of artefact, as if there is some reflection inside the camera module... Also noticable when pointing towards a lantern post or even lamp (inside darker surroundings). Attached 2 examples...
Also shot a movie where you can see the effect moving around, from bottom center left clockwise... So it doesn't look like a damage to the lens right? Anyone know what this is, if it can be fixed? Guess it's a trip to the shop for me though :/

Last night I took some pix of the sunset and a couple images had the exact same reflection or whatever it is. I hope Samsung comes up with a fix for this.
Somehuman
Well that won't be fixed with any update, it looks like some kind of fault with the anti reflective coating or the glass covering the lens, take it back point out to them what the problem is get it replaced & test again if this is the case with all S7's in direct light then i'll skip this phone & stick with the S6 as mine has no such problems.
It actually seems that it also happens on my S6, but less extreme. Also on another site I learned that it is not weird behavior, but also that I'm not the only one... The question is mainly if it's an above average manifestation and whether I can live with it
Attached another example...
Does somebody know if there is a plastic protection sticker on the camera sensor and the heartrate/flashlight sensor? Samsung told me there is, but I don't see one. Somebody can clear this up

On the 4th day, I just simply showed them a pure white image so they can see pink tint on the lower part of the screen when the brightness is below 40%. They also extended my 7 days replacement with another 7 days replacement. By the way, I talked with my local telco and not directly to Samsung since I got my unit from my telco.

Damn that's much better than the condition here. Instead of just extending the 7 days replacement period. Most dealers in Dubai will just tell us to review the new product at the moment we go for replacement and any problem raised after that day will be only considered under warranty. BTW Telco is a carrier?

Normal, around 40 to 50 degrees Celsius depending on the load, it's somewhat warm but not uncomfortably warm thanks to the heat pipe and the efficiency of the Exynos under high thermal load.

My Z5 got water damaged from fresh water pool. Everything was still working except that it didn't charge anymore.
I've tried a warranty claim but unfortunately, my phone has UB and it's rooted. The service center voided my warranty because the technician detected the unofficial firmware. When I pulled out my unit, it was already turned on. The tech noted corroded mobo from the results. I'm not sure if he opened up my phone but I was happy because everything was working again.
When I came home, I tried to insert my sim card which works with my spare phones. It says "No Service". I also can't see the sim number from the default "Myself" contact list in Phonebook. I tried manual and automatic search for network operators to no avail.
Do you guys think this is a hardware issue already? If yes, then I got a z5 phone which can't even handle the most basic purpose of one.

It wasn't even a meter and less than 30 minutes of dip. I even clean it with drinking water after every splash. I suspect that the chemical seal on backglass may have been loose over time as this unit have been with me for almost a year already.

Philippines.
Although I reported a water damage (physical damage), they voided my last remaining warranty due to unofficial firmware (I have UB/root). It's not like I had the chance to revert to stock after the phone had been water damaged..
The network signal was still good before I handed my phone to the service center. I'm not sure if the moisture inside damaged the chip responsible for the signal or it was the technician's fault assuming he opened up my phone or whatever.
They should've done pressure test FIRST and dried up what's inside if ever it's the chemical glue that's faulty over time. But what they did was to check the firmware first! I heard pressure test wasn't done because of the unofficial firmware. That's just so stupid of Sony.
The service center contractor is Telecom Concepts Inc. or TCI-Sony Philippines. I’m very disappointed. I've been using their products since the good old Sony Ericsson days. Now, I'm thinking of switching to those with better and competent after-sales support. Maybe it's time to go the Apple way.

Oh. I sympathize with you. Apple is a pretty good one, if you can live without root, xposed and mods, since iOS 10.3 is really difficult to jailbreak.
Found this in another post.
"I'll try answer it.
the custom rom trigger sony's security system and lock the phone. you need to flash the security system partition to fix it. the stock rom tft bundle doesn't have the image file needed to flash the security partition. thus, reflash a stock rom won't fix it. sony's security system is also very secure and at this time no one is able to hack it."
I suspect this is what happened to my phone! Apparently Sony DID this! I can't believe they rendered my device useless. I could've continued drying the device myself using rice or silica. This is totally unacceptable.
Update: Here's the post.
Update2: This can also be hardware issue just like this post.
I have ordered replacement signal cable and back cover glue in Aliexpress already. I hope it's just a faulty/corroded cable as I'll try to repair it myself. :/

Mine got water damaged just by washing the screen under the tap . water got in and "no service", no front camera, blurred back camera , random reboot and no sd card problems appeared but i was lucky because it was summer and outside were 40c so the phone recovered in about a week but the sd card slot is gone forever...it can't detect any sd card so be careful with this sony devices because you can have big surprises.
I have dipped my phone on clorine water 3 times and it's water thight, just mic didn't work while it dries,
You need to verify if it's water tight by checking f the pressure sensor is changing when you press the screen ,that can maybe fin a little leak of the waterseal

After only 2 months using the OnePlus 6 as a daily driver, dust came inside the camera lense. You can clearly see those particles and I tried wiping it off with a wet cloth but it remain there, so I'm definetly sure it's inside. How could this happen? I always used my op6 careful it never dropped.

Sucks not to nokt being able to use it tho, I was starting to like it... But since OnePlus don't think this is falling under warranty for some it just makes me not want to risk it.. P. S I always have a case on.
