It's enough! Never buy an LG phone anymore. Me and my children will never buy anymore - T-Mobile LG V10 General

I suggest you to not buy an LG phone anymore. They suck. Remember all LG before. Remember all bootloop that they ignored. Remember all the pains that LG gave you. They don't care about their customers. They don't care about your bootloop problem. They only care about selling. So I suggest you to not buy an LG phone anymore if you don't want to regret. LG IS THE WORST SMARTPHONE EVER. I hate them.

How do I convince TMO to give me one?

I'm on my third G2x. I just can't take it anymore. At this point it's only partly the phone itself and partly my new disgust for LG as a company. I don't even want to use a working G2x if that day ever comes.
I've tried asking T-Mobile to switch out for a Sensation, and I'm usually pretty good at sweet talking these kind of deals, but all efforts have failed thus far. What's the fastest way anyone has gotten TMO to switch a G2x out for a Sensation? I hear a BBB complaint is fairly effective, but doesn't exactly seem to be very quick.
Cheers...

They're told me that if they swap out a device 3 times, that they'll be willing to swap for a newer device. If this is your third and you're still having problems you might be able to make it an easy argument. Just call and tell the truth. You went through 3 phones, and they're all messed up and since you paid with real money you want a real high end phone that works as advertised. Then boom, can I trade this for a Sensation for free? If they say no, then ask to speak to a manager.
not sure if the lemon law applies to phones but if you are on your third one, honestly, they should just swap it out for a different phone for you or give you your money back.
call and ask to CS rep. ask nicely. if you get the right CS rep, they'll most likely hook you up.

I've been told this by T-Mobile as well. After three exchanges of the same device (I think within 90 or 180 days?), you can talk to them about switching to a different device.
The thing that sucks is that not all if any care reps even know the situation with the G2X so they'll think your just full of it

I had 5 MT4G's and they sent me a G2X...
After about a week of it shutting off randomly and having to pull the battery out and put it back in to get it to turn on I asked if they would send me another phone.
Of course they wanted to send me another G2X. I asked for a Sensation... The CC rep said NO. I asked to talk to a manager and no go. She made me really mad and I told her to put me on the horn with customer retention so I could cancel my service and switch to Big Red.
I'm not under contract and they wanted me to just upgrade the line. After talking to customer retention. They credited my bill $80 and let me keep my week old G2X. I went to the store and bought a Sensation.
So... No Verizon. But I still have a brand new G2X for sale...
As most of you know from my post here about 6 weeks ago, T-mobile shipped me a Sensation for free and let me keep my G2X while still remaining off contract. If you would like to get all the information as to why t-mobile just ate the cost for the Sensation then your going to have to look through my history. The story is to ling and I've already told it too many times.

It's all about who you talk to. I had a similar issue with my previous phone, and after only one swap-out, the supervisor I talked to gave me no hastles and allowed me a full upgrade price on the Sensation. Your situation may merit a free device, but it depends on you getting the right person at the right time. Just be honest with them, let them know it's not their individual fault, and you're just exhausted from all the problems. Be sincere, and only get more authoratative if they completely refuse to help.
Third time I've posted this today lol

After exchanging my g2x about 6 times I called the retention center and told them that I would cancel my account since I needed a working phone and the g2 was definitely not a comparable device. As soon as I mentioned the cancellation he told me I could get the sensation as an upgrade ( even though I just opened my account 5 months ago) so I just paid the $250 and got a sensation on the mail. So far, I absolutely love it

I just called them again. I've literally talked to CC 3 different times over a span of a few days and spoken to supervisors each time. Every time they tell me that can't switch them out even if they wanted to and they know nothing about anyone ever being able to swap their G2X for another phone... I've been a T-Mobile customer since 2001 so I can't believe they are denying me this basic level of service.
I just filed a BBB complaint on the matter. Investigating other ways to get some kind of a resolution...

They are flat out lying because they gave me a free Sensation, let me keep my G2X and let me remain out of contract. Although I was a special case, they still have the power and can do so.

Yes. I know supervisors can and since he said the supervisors he spoke to said they couldn't do it, I simply stated they were lying. I know their lying because one of them approved my G2X /Sensation debacle.

Don't forget they have rules and policies they have to follow too. Not a matter of just doing whatever they want. Every situation is unique.
Just an update.
I called and complained to another manager. I called and kept asking for supervisors until they said there was no one else, lol. No go. I also opened a BBB case against TMO stating my claim and that switching to a HTC Sensation would be a satisfactory resolution. Yesterday I got a call from "The Office of the President" to discuss my BBB complaint. They proceeded to tell me that TMO is only a "wireless service provider" and they take no responsibility for the (non)functionality of the phones themselves. After a long conversation of me calling them on their BS at every turn, he offered to refund me $40 they charged me to replace the G2X twice to begin with in return for considering it an acceptable resolution. I said hell no.
So I'm not sure how anyone else has gotten away with this, but apparently being a customer for 10 years and paying $200/mo isn't good enough for me to get the kind of courtesy they extend to other customers.
So the gingerbread update did not fix all the huge issues with the g2x?
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using XDA Premium App
Yea, I thought the update is supposed to make the g2x pretty solid...My GF just got one a week ago for free for adding a line (free all the way, no mail in rebates or activation fee).
Hers doesnt have GB on it though, how is that to go down?
Matt
Last time I tried to pull off a free G2X because I read someone on the forum was given one by a rep for being a long term customers and signing up for another 2yrs. I called Tmobile and demanded the same deal and the supervisor wouldn't let me have it. I told her 5 times that there has been people walking away with G2X at no cost for 2yr renew and bahabah to the point the supervisor demanded "my friends" number to look up the code that was inserted in their accounts..
My solution is to tell them about jrwingate6 and say my friend went through this same crap bahbahabah and in the end Tmobile gave him a sensation.. jrwingate6 will have to give you his number to make proof of that if he's willing to help you out and privately send his personal number to you. Once they see Jrwing was given a free sensation due to malfunctions G2X how can they deny you?
You know what dude times like this you should call corporate and demand to speak to the president or someone below with reasonable powers to help me out.
I return my G2X after using it for 29 days. It was lacking something and overall the experience wasn't satisfying to me I just didn't seem to be in love like my sensation. I hated the G2X!!
My GF G2x has zero problems so far. Its just as snappy as my Sensation. The camera is slow, but thats it! The battery is a million times better than my sensation!
Maybe the G2x has gotten better? Maybe you ought to ask for another G2x and see if something was fixed. I dont notice ANY of the problems listed, and I have a sensation to compare it too.

Got a GSII at 2 yr contract price

Just an FYI,
After some *****ing to retentions about the non-functionality of this phone, I managed to get a new phone at 2 yr contract price. I'm on my 3rd G2X and I have just about every problem imaginable - reboots, shutdowns, calls often don't work, data often doesn't work, etc. If you're frustrated with your G2X but don't want to shell out 600 bucks, it's worth a shot. I told them that the guy at my local tmobile store told me that I might as well stop switching out for replacements since "they're all like that." Basically just kept stressing that they sold me a broken phone, and I just wanted a working one. Good luck!
ooohhhwhhooooo good for you pal.
this is a g2x threat ''FYI''
i got my g2x since it release date and i never had problems. let see how your GS2 will work for ya. its still a samsuck
and i had several problems with the old galaxy s versions. and again samsuck never did nothing about it
I might give this a try... I'll get the GSII... Sell it, then buy another G2x.
Haha good idea. I was about to say how the g2x is better and they g2x does not like him.

I was just trying to help out...I figured some other people might be frustrated with their g2x's and would appreciate this option. If you are happy with yours, that's great - this thread (with a d) is not for you. I don't see how you can call Samsung out for not addressing problems when that is clearly the issue with LG here - with quality control if nothing else.

I posted it here because I am coming from a g2x, and it was specifically my complaints about none of my g2xs working that allowed me to get a really early upgrade. Again, just trying to help. I know there are a lot of people who are frustrated with the g2x's unreliability.
Wow lots of hate for a company that gives phones to developers, hired Cyanogen, and garnered enough interest from Google to create the Nexus a second time. I loved my Nexus S.
I kinda liken the G2x to an AMG Mercedes. Sexy piece of metal and glass, a thrill when working correctly, but loses half its value when you drive off the lot.
I like keeping my phones for 6mo or so and reselling to subsidize the next phone. G2x depreciated faster than any other phone I've owned. Feel like kinda a chump for picking one up on 4/20. I could have waited 2 months and bought it $250 cheaper. Grrrr....

This wasn't a goodbye post, or a g2x-slamming post. I was simply letting people know that if they are frustrated with their g2x, there might be an option they weren't aware of. There was no jubilation or negative comments. Are people so insecure (about their cell phones of all things) that I can't even mention the name of another phone? As I said before, there are many pluses of my g2x - higher pixel density, better screen size, vanilla os, hdmi out, better build quality, etc. The one big minus is that it doesn't work a lot of the time, just like the previous g2x's I've had. If your phone works, then great. This post was not meant for you.

Steller In-Store Rep Knowledge </sarcasm>

I just felt like this story was worth sharing.
I did the last baseband update, and with it started using the 21y update since nothing else will work with it. With that came the BSOD (Black Screen of Death), which I'm sure alot of other G2x owners have experienced. Been getting it 3-4 times a day during random usage, not just after phone calls. I have to remove the back cover and battery, turn it back on... 3-4 freakin times a day. Last week I flashed the stock recovery to get it back to factory condition and waited. Finally it happend at a point where I could walk over to the nearby T-Mobile store and show them the freeze, ask for a fix. Here's how it goes...
Me: So this has just happend and happens 3-4 times a day. *Shows him phone won't wake up, turn on, nothing. Pull battery, turn it back on*
Him: How old is your phone?
Me: Got it when it launched, so just over a year.
Him: Well it's got some scratches, lets see what we can do... So tell me honestly, do you charge it overnight?
Me: Yes, I plug it in near my bed and use it as an alarm
Him: You shouldn't do that. You probably fried the battery.
At this point I know he's just BS'ing. It's a software issue, it's been fixed on any custom ROM you use. Also, who doesn't charge their phone overnight. So I'm waiting and waiting while he's doing a device replacement order. About 10 minutes go by then
Him: So this is what's going to happen. You'll get a box and in it will be the new phone. You'll have to take your old phone and keep the sim card, back cover, and battery to use on the new phone. It'll just be a new body.
Me: So I use the same battery with the new phone?
Him: Yeah.
Me: Didn't you just tell me I fried the battery and that's why you're ordering a new phone?
Then he just stares at the phone dumbfounded for several long seconds and responds "Well it might not be that."
SMH, took my phone, grabbed the order confirmation, and left.
Dear T-Mobile... TRAIN YOUR EMPLOYEES!!!
Sorry for the wrong location, completely thought I was in the general section.
Three things:
1)This belongs in general.
2)Store employees don't do tech support for T-Mobile. They aren't trained to do so. They have no need to be trained for such as there's no in-store warranty program. They're sales associates and aren't trained for anything about these phones beyond the specs and features and what the phone can do (in effect what they need to know to sell the phone.) Representatives are trained based on their job type for their line of business, and not all the other ones. Because a representative doesn't provide the answer you're looking for off the top of their head, doesn't mean they aren't trained. There's quite literally thousands and thousands of pieces of information that those people have to remember, and you can't expect them to remember every single thing at any time. This is just a case were you should made sure you're talking to the right person. It's like going to a car dealership and asking a sales person to fix your car. They just sell the cars, they don't fix them.
3)Your warranty is ultimately through the manufacturer, so if T-Mobile isn't helping you contact LG for your warranty. They will definitely be more knowledgeable of the product, and since there is not really a risk of talking to the wrong department, its information that's bound to be accurate.
1) I stated that.
2) Store employees should atleast be trained better then to say something is bad, then tell me to continue to use it. This post was for basic humor.
3) My paid insurance is thru T-Mobile.

4. Just cause it looks like a T-Mobile store doesn't mean it's owned by T-Mobile. There are very few corporate stores out there. Most are just 3rd party companies that have a license to use there name and design for there store. I have dozen of T-Mobile stores in my area but there is only one corporate one. The only way you can tell who they actually are is by looking at the receipt. It will say somewhere on there like "***** Wireless" It's very deceiving but all carriers do it.
well speaking of reps i wanted to ask LG rep on the update for wind mobile as most people know we know have froyo officially, here is how it went down
Mike P: Hello, Guest. Can I help you with anything today?
Guest: hey mike p any status on update for optimus 2x wind, still running froyo
Mike P: The ICS OS upgrade will be initially available for a range of LG smartphones which were released in 2011. The products include: the LG Optimus 2X, the LG Optimus 3D, the LG Optimus LTE,the LG Eclipse
Mike P: Broadly speaking, the ICS OS upgrade will be available on LG’s upgradable smart phones starting from the third quarter of 2012. The detailed schedule and relevant models will be determined based on discussions with the carriers in each market.
Guest: so through out 2012 you went from telling me and i quote "your phone will get the update" to "discussions with carriers"
Mike P: Did you see the two messages that I previously sent?
Guest: can you please tell me which LG phone have officially received an update? not preloaded, but an update?
Mike P: Have you received the three messages that I have sent?
Guest: my last question asks for the phones that have actually recived an update not awaiting
Mike P: The ICS OS upgrade will be initially available for a range of LG smartphones which were released in 2011. The products include: the LG Optimus 2X, the LG Optimus 3D, the LG Optimus LTE,the LG Eclipse
Mike P: "The products include: the LG Optimus 2X, the LG Optimus 3D, the LG Optimus LTE,the LG Eclipse"
Mike P: "LG Optimus 2X, the LG Optimus 3D, the LG Optimus LTE,the LG Eclipse"
Mike P: "starting from the third quarter of 2012"
Mike P: We have not yet reached the third quarter of 2012.
Guest: these are phones awaiting and official update sir, and have received nothing, how about the phone promised on second quarter which of them actually received an update for any carrier?
Mike P: "starting from the third quarter of 2012"
Mike P: We have not yet reached the third quarter of 2012.
Guest: I am asking about second quarter promised phone, the ones meant for second quarter?
Guest: as on the facebook page
Guest: LG Optimus LTE, Prada phone by LG 3.0, the LG Optimus 2X, the LG Optimus Sol, the LG my Touch Q and the LG Eclipse.
Mike P: Yes, this would be the global page that also advises that the times would depend and very on county and carrier.
Guest: dis including optimus 2x which have actually received and update, i dont care where around the world, have any received an update?
Mike P: You would have to check with the different country's. We only deal with Canada.
Guest: are you not allowed you say "we have not released an update?
Mike P: Allowed to say? I cant be any clearer. The update will be released in the third quarter of 2012.
Guest: im not asking with regards to my phone, im asking for any phone that have received an update in the light of me changing my phone

Guest: unlocked no carrier restriction
Mike P: http://www.lg.com/ca_en/mobile-phones/all-phones/LG-LG-P705G.jsp
Mike P: Is the only phone that has been released in Canada with ICS on it at the moment.
Guest: thats the L7 not sol
Mike P: Just googled the phone what you are talking about "sol" and its a phone from the U.K
Mike P: ...
Guest: your essentially telling me since the official release of the android source code that not a single lg phone have received an update as planned and your covering for LG

I very well understand, but nobody wants to give information no wind, nor LG.
Edit: In the feedback at the end of the conversation i did give the rep a good review. But lets face it you have to get information off of somebody.

I wouldn't consider the convo being a ****, it was being more knowledgeable then someone in there feild of work he didn't call him out saying he was an idiot and sub par at his job, haha... I probably would've been a jerk to the person, and called him out on what he said. Regurgitate or not what he said was, well... kinda not smart.

Ha! Had the same experience back with the Nokia Nuron however, and it was very similar. I ended up getting 4 new phones, till I was asked if I wanted the G1 instead. Took it in a heartbeat.

At the moment lg doesn't want to make the same mistake, they are not ready to release ICS. This is the correct and true answer. You can believe what you want. Op, you bought your phone with Froyo, who promised you an update? Updates are free, how can anyone complain? Every android smartphone has a problem in some way or another, but the g2x forums have the most whiners hands down. It was so refreshing to talk to Ricardo and laugh at all the retardedness on these forums. Lastly, didn't most of us get our phones for free?

I sure as hell didn't. My G2's wifi module broke 2 weeks out of warranty. I needed a new phone and wasn't eligible for an upgrade. Even if you got your phone for "free", you're still paying for it monthly versus someone who buys their phones outright.
If LG's software engineers haven't been able to figure out ICS, maybe they need new software engineers. I work for a financial services company and if our coders did this piss poor of a job, they'd be collecting unemployment benefits.
I've had to deal with T-Mobile's staff quite a bit over the past few weeks because of various issues and all I can say is that it has been extremely disappointing. You used to be able to get someone that's knowledgeable almost all the time ... not anymore. I tend to firm but very fair to phone staff. I used to work cust. service and I know how bad it is to get an ahole on the other end of the line. I mentioned some of the issues I've had with my phone and, instead of offering to troubleshoot or to send a replacement device, the rep tries to hard sell me to use the upgrade I'm now eligible for to get a new phone instead. I told them that I'm not comfortable spending money on a new phone if T-Mobile is not going to support it. The rep told me I could always void my warranty and install unofficial software lol. During the course of the call, I had 2 reps acknowledge that there were known issues with the G2x. When I asked why they kept selling them with known issues, I was met with silence. To make a long story short, instead of being offered a solution, the calls all ended with a frustrated customer.

Oh, and how can we complain? How about the 18-month pledge that both LG and T-Mobile signed and casually forgot about. I'm no mathematician, but I don't remember 18 months passing since the G2x was launched.

"For instance, the members of the update partnership could say that a new device should still be able to receive Android OS updates within the first 18 months of release; however, companies would not be obligated to stick to that guideline, and that does not mean that phones would access every new release."
Guess you missed that part. They're not obligated to get out the release, but try to a point. T-Mobile will try and release the update as long as there is one from the manufacturer to begin with (in this case LG).
As long as the phone does everything it was promised to (work) as it goes in the latest GB, you really can't complain.
Now back in the Froyo days, yes, an update was required for sure, so any issues and no one could fix them. But the last two OTA updates for the G2x have made it stable and run fine for the majority of users, so LG did do their part there.
Finally, in case you ask my opinion on LG, no, I would never buy another LG IF it has an Nvidia chip. God I hate them now. An S4 would be nice, and I love their choice of IPS displays. I like their form factor as well, just no Nvidia, they don't know the meaning of open source.

Google really needs to be more heavy handed if it wants to avoid fragmentation. Android is open source. However, Google apps and access to the Play Store are not. Give manufacturers 6 months after a major release of Android to upgrade devices that have hardware capable of handling the software. If they fail to comply, block access to the Play Store for those devices and create a crapstorm for the OEMs. Obviously, you would have to give OEMs a bit of wiggle room if they are running into legit issues and can prove that they are actively working on getting the update out ASAP. This boy scout pledge crap is obviously not working. I doubt Google would have the balls to pull something like what I described.

Block the play store for the majority of their devices? Are you serious? Google would punish itself and the end user more than the supplier.

I got my phone about 10 months ago and had to pay $100 + 2Yr Contract. I most certainly didn't get mine for free. Wish I did though

Should I trade it? (TORN)

Im getting a OPO in and currently have the option of trading it brand new and sealed for a mint condition M8 and Im seriously considering it only cause of the issues I have heard about the OPO and all the negativity surrounding it. Would you guys think Id be wise in trading it for the M8? I really wanted to try this phone and like it but Im honestly just scared Im gonna get a bunch of issues and with OP customer service it seems like it would be a nightmare so I am super torn...

From a business standpoint it would be ideal to trade it for the M8 cause you can always sell the M8, pocket some of the cash and buy another OPO on Craigslist, eBay, Amazon etc.

Very true and thats what Ive considered as well. I just worry about it being a Tmobile M8 and not having the EIP paid off.. Im still super torn cause I really want to play with the OPO especially for a while especially after getting the mythical device, but trading or selling now and waiting for changes in hardware or software could seem beneficial... You see why Im torn..lol
I guess you guys haven't been seeing how much OPOs go for on eBay. Let's just say they crush the m8 for pricing simply due to the exclusivity factor.

There are 3 threads already established that are devoted to discussions about devices, please read, and if necessary, repost your question in one of these threads: The what should I buy thread or the The Device Suggestion Thread or the The Device Comparison Thread.
There are also several other discussion threads that you probably should review to help you. They are What phone do you wish you had? or

Should I sell my OPO?

I like the phone, but I've had a lot of issues with stock and rooted apps. CS is a joke and won't give me a direct response. I need a warranty replacement. My battery is very bad, I have issues with the screen colors and delays when turning on. I have to admit I love reading web articles, but not with two hands. I don't understand, but a lot of women like that. I don't know how they actually use it, but maybe face time is just that popular now... I'm old school, I guess, I'm only 25 though. My favorite phone was the nexus S, and close was the galaxy nexus. I'm thinking about motoG, but I need 2 gigs min. I don't game, but OS eats a lot as it is, especially while using an app. What do you think? Is there a good alternative for me. 4-4.7 inch is what I'd like to have and a nice screen with good look. A good quad core is a must. Not to mention Dev support.

Wait, you're saying the phone is defective, but you intend on selling it? Who would buy a defective phone? Surely you need to disclose this information to potential buyers, or you're being dishonest. Problem is, if you are honest and disclose the appropriate information then nobody will buy it. How much have you actually done to troubleshoot the problems you're having?

Everything. Yeah, I'm not going to eat it all, because OPO gave me a bad phone and won't remedy it. I'm going to sell it cheap and buy something cheap, like a motoG. That's why I was asking...

not really they just want proofs
like for battery you can post your battery stat's, and you can ask someone to take photos of your phone, to show them your screen issues

It's pretty standard practice that they want proof of what you're claiming is wrong with the device. In this day and age it's fair for them to assume that you know at least one person who owns a camera or camera-phone. Are they just meant to take your word for it? That isn't how business works.
