I just felt like this story was worth sharing.
I did the last baseband update, and with it started using the 21y update since nothing else will work with it. With that came the BSOD (Black Screen of Death), which I'm sure alot of other G2x owners have experienced. Been getting it 3-4 times a day during random usage, not just after phone calls. I have to remove the back cover and battery, turn it back on... 3-4 freakin times a day. Last week I flashed the stock recovery to get it back to factory condition and waited. Finally it happend at a point where I could walk over to the nearby T-Mobile store and show them the freeze, ask for a fix. Here's how it goes...
Me: So this has just happend and happens 3-4 times a day. *Shows him phone won't wake up, turn on, nothing. Pull battery, turn it back on*
Him: How old is your phone?
Me: Got it when it launched, so just over a year.
Him: Well it's got some scratches, lets see what we can do... So tell me honestly, do you charge it overnight?
Me: Yes, I plug it in near my bed and use it as an alarm
Him: You shouldn't do that. You probably fried the battery.
At this point I know he's just BS'ing. It's a software issue, it's been fixed on any custom ROM you use. Also, who doesn't charge their phone overnight. So I'm waiting and waiting while he's doing a device replacement order. About 10 minutes go by then
Him: So this is what's going to happen. You'll get a box and in it will be the new phone. You'll have to take your old phone and keep the sim card, back cover, and battery to use on the new phone. It'll just be a new body.
Me: So I use the same battery with the new phone?
Him: Yeah.
Me: Didn't you just tell me I fried the battery and that's why you're ordering a new phone?
Then he just stares at the phone dumbfounded for several long seconds and responds "Well it might not be that."
SMH, took my phone, grabbed the order confirmation, and left.
Dear T-Mobile... TRAIN YOUR EMPLOYEES!!!
Sorry for the wrong location, completely thought I was in the general section.
Three things:
1)This belongs in general.
2)Store employees don't do tech support for T-Mobile. They aren't trained to do so. They have no need to be trained for such as there's no in-store warranty program. They're sales associates and aren't trained for anything about these phones beyond the specs and features and what the phone can do (in effect what they need to know to sell the phone.) Representatives are trained based on their job type for their line of business, and not all the other ones. Because a representative doesn't provide the answer you're looking for off the top of their head, doesn't mean they aren't trained. There's quite literally thousands and thousands of pieces of information that those people have to remember, and you can't expect them to remember every single thing at any time. This is just a case were you should made sure you're talking to the right person. It's like going to a car dealership and asking a sales person to fix your car. They just sell the cars, they don't fix them.
3)Your warranty is ultimately through the manufacturer, so if T-Mobile isn't helping you contact LG for your warranty. They will definitely be more knowledgeable of the product, and since there is not really a risk of talking to the wrong department, its information that's bound to be accurate.
1) I stated that.
2) Store employees should atleast be trained better then to say something is bad, then tell me to continue to use it. This post was for basic humor.
3) My paid insurance is thru T-Mobile.

4. Just cause it looks like a T-Mobile store doesn't mean it's owned by T-Mobile. There are very few corporate stores out there. Most are just 3rd party companies that have a license to use there name and design for there store. I have dozen of T-Mobile stores in my area but there is only one corporate one. The only way you can tell who they actually are is by looking at the receipt. It will say somewhere on there like "***** Wireless" It's very deceiving but all carriers do it.
well speaking of reps i wanted to ask LG rep on the update for wind mobile as most people know we know have froyo officially, here is how it went down
Mike P: Hello, Guest. Can I help you with anything today?
Guest: hey mike p any status on update for optimus 2x wind, still running froyo
Mike P: The ICS OS upgrade will be initially available for a range of LG smartphones which were released in 2011. The products include: the LG Optimus 2X, the LG Optimus 3D, the LG Optimus LTE,the LG Eclipse
Mike P: Broadly speaking, the ICS OS upgrade will be available on LG’s upgradable smart phones starting from the third quarter of 2012. The detailed schedule and relevant models will be determined based on discussions with the carriers in each market.
Guest: so through out 2012 you went from telling me and i quote "your phone will get the update" to "discussions with carriers"
Mike P: Did you see the two messages that I previously sent?
Guest: can you please tell me which LG phone have officially received an update? not preloaded, but an update?
Mike P: Have you received the three messages that I have sent?
Guest: my last question asks for the phones that have actually recived an update not awaiting
Mike P: The ICS OS upgrade will be initially available for a range of LG smartphones which were released in 2011. The products include: the LG Optimus 2X, the LG Optimus 3D, the LG Optimus LTE,the LG Eclipse
Mike P: "The products include: the LG Optimus 2X, the LG Optimus 3D, the LG Optimus LTE,the LG Eclipse"
Mike P: "LG Optimus 2X, the LG Optimus 3D, the LG Optimus LTE,the LG Eclipse"
Mike P: "starting from the third quarter of 2012"
Mike P: We have not yet reached the third quarter of 2012.
Guest: these are phones awaiting and official update sir, and have received nothing, how about the phone promised on second quarter which of them actually received an update for any carrier?
Mike P: "starting from the third quarter of 2012"
Mike P: We have not yet reached the third quarter of 2012.
Guest: I am asking about second quarter promised phone, the ones meant for second quarter?
Guest: as on the facebook page
Guest: LG Optimus LTE, Prada phone by LG 3.0, the LG Optimus 2X, the LG Optimus Sol, the LG my Touch Q and the LG Eclipse.
Mike P: Yes, this would be the global page that also advises that the times would depend and very on county and carrier.
Guest: dis including optimus 2x which have actually received and update, i dont care where around the world, have any received an update?
Mike P: You would have to check with the different country's. We only deal with Canada.
Guest: are you not allowed you say "we have not released an update?
Mike P: Allowed to say? I cant be any clearer. The update will be released in the third quarter of 2012.
Guest: im not asking with regards to my phone, im asking for any phone that have received an update in the light of me changing my phone
Mike P: Update to ICS?

Guest: not preloaded updated
Guest: with comma in between
Mike P: "starting from the third quarter of 2012"
Guest: lg nitro?

Guest: i wanna buy the lg optimus sol, did that receive ICS
Guest: unlocked no carrier restriction
Mike P: http://www.lg.com/ca_en/mobile-phones/all-phones/LG-LG-P705G.jsp
Mike P: Is the only phone that has been released in Canada with ICS on it at the moment.
Guest: thats the L7 not sol
Mike P: Just googled the phone what you are talking about "sol" and its a phone from the U.K
Mike P: ...
Guest: your essentially telling me since the official release of the android source code that not a single lg phone have received an update as planned and your covering for LG

Guest: im just asking for any phone, any phone that have received an update
Guest: can you name one phone that have received an update and ill leave you alone
Guest: i wanna buy an updated phone, not preloaded ICS
Mike P: Did you see the previous messages?
Guest: that not updated yet
Guest: planned to update doesn't mean will receive for certain carrier
Mike P: http://www.lg.com/ca_en/mobile-phones/all-phones/LG-LG-P705G.jsp
Mike P: Is the only phone that has been released in Canada with ICS on it at the moment.
Guest: well LG is a terrible company not a single phone actually received an update on the second quarter of 2012, and you have been ordered not to release any information, have a good day sir

Edit: In the feedback at the end of the conversation i did give the rep a good review. But lets face it you have to get information off of somebody.

At the moment lg doesn't want to make the same mistake, they are not ready to release ICS. This is the correct and true answer. You can believe what you want. Op, you bought your phone with Froyo, who promised you an update? Updates are free, how can anyone complain? Every android smartphone has a problem in some way or another, but the g2x forums have the most whiners hands down. It was so refreshing to talk to Ricardo and laugh at all the retardedness on these forums. Lastly, didn't most of us get our phones for free?

I sure as hell didn't. My G2's wifi module broke 2 weeks out of warranty. I needed a new phone and wasn't eligible for an upgrade. Even if you got your phone for "free", you're still paying for it monthly versus someone who buys their phones outright.
If LG's software engineers haven't been able to figure out ICS, maybe they need new software engineers. I work for a financial services company and if our coders did this piss poor of a job, they'd be collecting unemployment benefits.
I've had to deal with T-Mobile's staff quite a bit over the past few weeks because of various issues and all I can say is that it has been extremely disappointing. You used to be able to get someone that's knowledgeable almost all the time ... not anymore. I tend to firm but very fair to phone staff. I used to work cust. service and I know how bad it is to get an ahole on the other end of the line. I mentioned some of the issues I've had with my phone and, instead of offering to troubleshoot or to send a replacement device, the rep tries to hard sell me to use the upgrade I'm now eligible for to get a new phone instead. I told them that I'm not comfortable spending money on a new phone if T-Mobile is not going to support it. The rep told me I could always void my warranty and install unofficial software lol. During the course of the call, I had 2 reps acknowledge that there were known issues with the G2x. When I asked why they kept selling them with known issues, I was met with silence. To make a long story short, instead of being offered a solution, the calls all ended with a frustrated customer.

Oh, and how can we complain? How about the 18-month pledge that both LG and T-Mobile signed and casually forgot about. I'm no mathematician, but I don't remember 18 months passing since the G2x was launched.

"For instance, the members of the update partnership could say that a new device should still be able to receive Android OS updates within the first 18 months of release; however, companies would not be obligated to stick to that guideline, and that does not mean that phones would access every new release."
Guess you missed that part. They're not obligated to get out the release, but try to a point. T-Mobile will try and release the update as long as there is one from the manufacturer to begin with (in this case LG).
As long as the phone does everything it was promised to (work) as it goes in the latest GB, you really can't complain.
Now back in the Froyo days, yes, an update was required for sure, so any issues and no one could fix them. But the last two OTA updates for the G2x have made it stable and run fine for the majority of users, so LG did do their part there.
Finally, in case you ask my opinion on LG, no, I would never buy another LG IF it has an Nvidia chip. God I hate them now. An S4 would be nice, and I love their choice of IPS displays. I like their form factor as well, just no Nvidia, they don't know the meaning of open source.

Google really needs to be more heavy handed if it wants to avoid fragmentation. Android is open source. However, Google apps and access to the Play Store are not. Give manufacturers 6 months after a major release of Android to upgrade devices that have hardware capable of handling the software. If they fail to comply, block access to the Play Store for those devices and create a crapstorm for the OEMs. Obviously, you would have to give OEMs a bit of wiggle room if they are running into legit issues and can prove that they are actively working on getting the update out ASAP. This boy scout pledge crap is obviously not working. I doubt Google would have the balls to pull something like what I described.

Block the play store for the majority of their devices? Are you serious? Google would punish itself and the end user more than the supplier.

I have been waiting for a me batch to do a replacement, so I called today and asked for a new batch replacement. He told me that they were sold out but I could get a new unit, everything included like the battery and box for a replacement from the manufacturer. He put in the order and it was already shipped by ups with tracking numbers. Also I have two replacements coming, so this is exciting. The rep did say that yes there were problems with the current batch and that a new one was coming,i just got lucky because I specifically asked for a new batch. Hope this helps clear up some questions. I will update once I get them to see if they are better.

I'm not sure which one to go with anymore. A fixed G2x with no lcd bleed sounds pretty enticing, but then there's the Sensation with the possibility of root on day one.. and Kal-El is on the way this winter. Android just isn't slowing down, lol.
sensation having root on day one is possible but I wouldn't hold my breath if I were you
Highly doubt this! I'm not doubting that you were told this but doubting the fact you'll get a phone from a new batch. I spoke to MANY T-mobile employees over the phone when asking for a replacement and I even asked for a new one from a new batch and they told me that unfortunately I get whatever is in the warehouse and there was no way to ensure this or specify what I'd like...
I understand that what the rep told me might or might not be true. But it sounded like t-mobile put the order through lg. T-mobile them selves do not have any phones,i am aware of that, but the processing was fast and I already have a tracking number. I am hopeful but not foolish. I will let u guys know as soon as it comes what the date on it is. The rep said that it will be a new phone not a refurbished one. is there any other way of knowing how the device would be from a new batch?

Same here. One even told me there was no way to get a refurbished one since it hasn't been out that long. I told her that was a complete lie and that I know of other people who got re-ferbs. Seems like every time I get told a lie or someone tries to roll my loyalty plan into a new plan it is by a female. No I just hang up and keep calling back until I get someone who sounds like myself. It might sound racist but it's the god damn truth.

Seriously, I am really not trying to be a bigot, racist or sexist. I have encountered a couple females that knew what they were talking about and I didn't mean to lump all of the females in the same boat. What I really meant to say would come off racist but here goes anyway. As soon as I here a voice from a female that sounds like she's straight out of the ghetto I will hang up and call back. If the person sounds educated I will remain on the line and give them a chance.

Sorry, but you must not have looked very closely on their site. I went directly to lg.com, saw a link that said support (on the left), clicked on that, and saw a link for mobile phone support, clicked on that, and there are options for live chat, email or telephone support, all on the page. That took me about 5 seconds. Here is the link:

I thought I killed my G2x Tuesday and ordered a replacement. It was a refurb I guess (in a white box). It had really bad screen bleed so I just mailed it back.
I got my original one working anyway.

I'm sure they reflash them when the refurb them.
so hey there guys. I mainly lurk around here and check out what people are doing while reading and researching for myself.
I was up for an upgrade months ago and finally got to it last week. Picked up the g2x.
Before rooting or anything I searched around for bugs and etc. Came upon some known issues and started to check my phone out in detail. I definitely had screen bleeds in the upper two corners. BT kept dropping and phone would get very hot. The worse was charging via USB the whole phone would become inoperable. I would have to remove battery to restart phone.
Chat with a Tmo rep via net. Had them noted my account for issues. (She sent out a battery) I had to end conversation since I was at work. After work I contact customer support and mentioned the noted info. Was informed I had to go to the same store I upgraded at for a quick and easy exchange since I was within 30 days.
Called the store to confirm. (#8309) and spoke with a good rep and we got straight to the point. He ended by telling me he would exchange me if he had any - but the truth is LG recalled all their inventory. I told him I will be stopping by so we can figure something out as this is not cool...
Came to the store and spoke with the same guy. Confirmed that the T-mobile G2X is being recalled by LG and existing G2X currently in hands of customers will be receiving a OTA update to address some issues. (according to rep, just a band aid) We all know it is mainly hardware related and the rep agrees. I mentioned that it is messed up their not recalling all phones as I believed it was a hardware issue that no software updates can fix. I ended up leaving with a HTC Sensation (not exactly happy with it). I took this since it was the only thing comparable and best deal currently. Also got the rebate and the difference on the G2X. Sensation is filled with bloat crap and crap I will never use...
Sorry for the long post. I made it long since I don't post often and didn't want you guys to think I pulled it out of you know where...
LG has recalled the G2X from tmobile stores nation wide. Current phones with customers are not being recalled and an OTA update is expected to "fix" the issues. (no details given on the OTA and what issues it will address).
The rep really had no idea how long it would be before LG sends them good units. I asked him what he thought of the Sensation. he said "It's probably one of the most powerful phone out there now"

Figured I'd post this also.
Mg: Charging via USB to computer is not working. Phone does crazy stuff when plugged into computer for charge. Battery is very hot when charging via Wall outlet. Battery very hot when phone is in use. Hot enough to feel in pocket. is this normal? I have spoken with a rep at a local tmobile store.

Mg: Yes I will remove battery right now. Powering off.
_Karon P: * Swelling.
_Karon P: Thank you.

Until there's an official announcement from Tmo corporate and LG, I'm not going to believe a thing that a Tmo sales person at a store or online chat rep says.

I agree. Wirefly and Amazon are still selling the device and have it in stock so if LG was doing a recall then we'd see it removed from 3rd party retailers.
It's definitely not a hardware issue. Wish people would stop saying that. My phone works perfectly fine. The issues that people are having are software. Personally, I am not experiencing any issues and many others are not.
And recalls are used when products are unsafe, not when a handful of people are having issues.

If any decision had been reached to discontinue the phone there would be an announcement. Dont listen to reps they usually dont know anything about whats going on within the company.

Honestly you can't say either. If it were software everyone would have the issue since they have same software, hardware could still be the issue.
All I know is g2x is awesome but too buggy.
Just called my local store and they said horse puckey to your claim. No offense intended OP.
Sometimes I think certain Tmo people get a little ahead of themselves. Do you have the phone number for the store you are dealing with?
edit: Nevermind. I found the store. For those interested. T-Mobile - The Block At Orange (8309) (T-Mobile Retail Store) in Orange, California. Phone: 714-978-2597
Hey OP: What is the name of the guy fliping Sensations for G2x's?
Sounds like the rep was providing you with his hypothesis of what's going on internally.
Personally, I'd recommend you wait for at least 5 months or so. If there are hardware issues, they're most likely stream-lining their assembly line, components, supply manufacturers now, etc. It's unfortunate that they rushed this unit out so fast just to get it into the hands of the consumers. Companies are now using consumers to offset their R&D costs. Lawl.
5 months bro? ! We could file a class action lawsuit and own LG in that amount of time

Yes, the phones have the same software but that doesn't mean that everyone uses the phone the same way, has the same apps and same configurations.
That's like saying just because a bunch of people have the same computer running Windows 7 that they should all have the same issue when there are tons of variables.
These phones are mass produced using the same hardware. If hardware was the issue, a vast majority of phones would be effected. Which is the case with screen bleeding.

oh. and its definitely hardware related issues as well.
edit: don't get me wrong. I want the g2x. I just don't want to wait long. I'll be buying another one once they are avail with no issues.
fwiw: recalls can happen on multiple levels. consumer based recalls, manufacturers, retails, sales, etc. What LG is doing is legal by all means. Even if in your eyes its just horse donkey crap. I can attest to this as it has to do with my current occupation involving products. LG Definitely doesn't make everything in house. That would mean multiple manufacturers would be making multiple components for LG thus more can go wrong.
The whole idea of "All g2x has same hardware thus all should have same problems" is wrong.
MY problems were software related. I can say that for sure.

Yes it is wrong since there are different software variables that could cause issues. Hence a software issue.

Has it crossed anyone's mind that stores don't have G2X's because they are selling so many that demand has exceeded their ability to manufacture the phone? As far as buggy phones go I have no issues with my phone and I am inclined to believe most of the problems are from a very vocal few.

Apparently, Tmobile is stating that the replacement unit will still have the same issues, so they are not replacing them anymore fro any reason.
Yep, I called last week and was told no replacement and about the MT4G. I don't want a MT4G, I want a G2X that works or my money back and contract cancelled.
You read the tweet wrong. Tmonews isn't breaking a story, they're commenting on what they heard and that once again T-Mobile and LG are silent.

My attorney has notified LGUSA of my issues, and we are awaiting their response.
We are prepared to take legal action against LGUSA.
Unfortunately, there is nothing at this point that can be done against T-Mobile because of a recent US Supreme Court ruling concerning class action lawsuits.
The attorney that I have retained is the same attorney who currently has a class action lawsuit against Samsung for a similar situation.

Very simple, attorneys that take these cases ask for no retainer. It cost me nothing to do, except a little time, a few phone calls, a few emails...
I did it because I understand the difference between right and wrong, and T-Mobile and LG have acted inappropriately here.
I dont expect to ever personally gain anything from my efforts, but LG should be held responsible for the phone they have sold us.
this makes no sense because i was just sent a replacement g2x after a chat session with a rep today she offered me a mytouch 4g but i declined that and went with a replacement g2x. so idk about not replacing it anymore

The Norma Ray-esque idea of "sticking it to the man" is certainly something that makes me smile. And you'll never find me defending LG - they deserve a special place in hell for all the unresolved grief they've caused. But, as someone just said, when is it time to pull the ripcord? I lost serveral hundred dolllars dumping the G2X and leaving T-Mobile but my time and sanity made it worth it to me. Good luck if you decide to see it threw but remember the old adage - "would you rather be right or rather be happy?"

I think you'll see alot of those things around are basically...alot to do about nothing. Some one on XDA commented a week or so ago about replacements for G2x's for issues that cannot be fixed in a replacement, will be stopped. Late last week, or perhaps this weekend, some commented that replacements for screen bleed were now included.
Some body reads it....another Sensationalist blogger site hears about it, someone tweets it, next thing you know...we have a revolution going on.

It would appear that they feel they can say anything as long as they attribute it to a "ninja." To go from a second-hand tweet to a cover story without any investigation in between doesn't speak well to their integrity.
I just called and have a replacement coming tomorrow because I keep getting screen bleeding replacements so I feel like this is a false rumor....hopefully I get a good screen next time!
And honestly ...the screen bleed really isn't that bad but its the principle of the matter and getting your moneys worth when you buy a phone ....especially off contract like me.
I know there are good units out- my first ones screen bleed was barely there at all but I had USB issues with it, all the replacements I've gotten afterwards have had worse screen bleeds than the first but no other issues whatsoever....this reallly is a great phone just wish LG would own up to their mistakes and support the customers but can't always get what you want ....if worse comes to worse I can live with my current unit if the one they send me is worse.

It will get updated to gingerbread at some point, but nobody knows when.
Most of us guessed towards the end of September(about a month after the EP1W GB leak was released publicly)
Here's a fact: Nobody knows exactly when it is coming out. Even the support people at Verizon don't know. They are notified that something is on the way, but they don't tell them until it actually hits the streets.
My opinion, based on info i've gained reading various sources: It should be soon, probably in the next couple weeks. And it won't be EP1W.
I had a brief twitter conversation with p3 a couple days back, asking him if he had heard anything since the leak was released. He didn't offer any info on ETA, but DID say that he knows EP1W is no longer official...in his words, they "blew past" EP1W
This could be good, as personally I consider EP1W rather unstable (in my personal experience) and would love it if the final, official GB release is being developed further to deal with those kinds of issues. But... this could also add significant time to the release cycle as well.

if the release for Gingerbread on the Droid 2/Droid X are any "guidelines", i'd say another 2 months with verizon's release schedule.
On two different occasions with two different people at the Verizon store i was told with authority to expect an update this month (sept). We will see. I tried checking for software updates on the verizon site but it wouldn't let me enter my model, which was strange. I know only the owner's manual was on there but maybe they're getting ready to add something.
I meant the Samsung page- sorry!
When is gingerbread coming to the charge? Not happy with buggy froyo.

I would rather wait and get it right, then get it an have it suck.

Well, I for one can say that the Humble ROMs from danalo have been faster and more battery efficient than the stock ROMs from Samsung. So, I would be willing to bet that the Humble ROMs available now are going to be better than whatever Samsung has for the next "official" release.
That is, until Cyanogen starts his development job at Samsung, and gets some really awesome CM-like stuff incorporated into the stock Sammy ROMs.
Should be by the end of the month like the thunderbolt update.can't wait!

The guys at the Costco booth don't work for Verizon for once. The one's at my Costco are incompetent and seem to give two ****s about their job or helping the customer. I would HIGHLY recommend taking anything they tell you with a grain of salt. I find it very hard to believe they would have any true insider information on this.
Anything the guys at the booth are telling you is hogwash. They are just repeating something a co-worker or customer told them. Verizon does not provide those details to salespeople. Even the tech support people only have vague info like "coming soon", or maaaaaaybe a "this month". You can't miss target dates that you never announce in the first place.
VZ's own techs don't know when the update is coming.
I am friends with a tech at one of the local VZ stores & he has no more idea when it's coming than we do.

dear all...
called lg for an rma.
sent phone in, it was tested, confirmed wasn't working properly.
agreed to the work that needed to be done. i was charged 168 or so.
they were going to send me a better than new refurb.
i was happy with that.
they sent the replacement phone via fedex.
was due to arrive this past friday. it didn't.
looks like fedex lost the phone.
i spoke with fedex...opened a case number.
they're looking for it.
have in certain words been told by fedex...phone is lost. we'll keep searching, but, it's lost.
advise LG to also file a claim.
spoke with LG. they filed a claim with fedex.
i figured that meant they would cancel that particular phone from my account with them and they would send a replacement.
well, that's not happening.
apparently, i've been told by LG i have to wait 2-3 weeks until the claim goes through before they can do anything.
so, now i'm without a phone for 2-3 weeks.
how inconvenient is that???
i asked LG why they couldn't send me a replacement. according to their first tier customer support - they just can't.
they HAVE to wait for this thing to play out.
no explanation as to why they can't file the claim and send me a replacement.
if fedex finds it...they send it right back to LG.
no one loses in that scenario.
does anyone out there have any advice, suggestions, or experience with this sort of thing?
i'm leaning towards to finding a corporate level email address somewhere and appealing to them in some manner.
i'm pretty bitter about the whole thing, tbh.
any advice is welcome.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
tl;dr
being held hostage by LG due to fedex losing a replacement phone LG sent me.
they're telling me it'll be 2-3 wks before they'll even consider sending me a replacement.
anyone have suggestions as to who to contact at LG to get better, more thorough customer service??
cheers!

tomorrow's tactic is to follow advice from another's thread on reddit. since LGs call center is based in the philippines, if you press 2 on the call in prompt for spanish...you almost always get routed to someone stateside.
not that this will have any effect on LGs policy...but, perhaps i can get someone a little more sympathetic to my plight.
after that...i'll try whatever is next on the list.
may even be social media.
don't you usually have to have a lot of followers and whatnot?
Sorry to say, but I think LG needs Fedex to verify the phone was never delivered. They might think you are running a scam to get two phones. Just a thought, and I am in no way saying you did anything wrong or that it is fair to you. I feel bad for you and hope it is settled soon.

no, no...i totally get that aspect. they're putting in their due diligence.
totally get it.
however, since it was lost while with fedex and they have no tracking history of it getting beyond the point of their local warehouse everyone involved knows there was never any customer contact.
so, i had that solidly in my court.
oddly, i received an email from lg this AM saying they received my device YESTERDAY at their facility and it is about to be tested and repaired.
welllllllllll, since i was going to call anyway....
i called. again.
except this time i took the redditor's advice and called the spanish call center.
like he/she said...they speak perfect english and are located in the states.
not sure any of that had anything to do with anything...but, it's worth noting.
also, they were a LOT more pleasant to deal with.
i suppose the spanish speaking call center receives a lesser volume of calls leaving these guys a lot less jaded???
at any rate...i have a promise of a call from LG on monday or tuesday.
the plan is to send me a new device and they'll take over the issue with fedex.
as of today's call...they're hoping i'll have a new device in my hands by the end of next week.
i'm not going to hold my breath - i've had other CSRs tell me "they'll call me back."
however, the new RMA email seems to indicate that they are, in fact, making progress in moving this forward for me.
fingers crossed.
there are always more interesting things going on in these threads...but, i'll update as things move along.
thanks everyone for even bothering to read about these escapades.
xda rocks...OG evo and onward!
