[Q] Problem with Camera? Blue ring.

When I start the camera I get this blue ring in the center of the picture, if I take a picture it will show in the picture as well. Anyone else having this issue?
Is it a sharp blue ring, generated by software, or some kind of artifact like a light leak? Do both cameras have it? Are you using the default camera application? Can you post one of the pictures?

I guess I am the only one with this problem. I updated the firmware yesterday but it's still there, as you can see just the blue or purple ring in the center.
Is that on the shots with the other camera too?
Is it on all the shots?
If not, is there some unusual lighting for that shot?
I ask the last because as a photo guy, that looks like the type of thing that you see with internal reflections with the IR filter over the CCD under some lighting conditions, e.g. an incandescent light just out of the frame at the right angle for that shot. Again, is it on all the shots? Again, is it on the shots with the other camera too? If it is on all the shots you might have a problem, it does look like an artifact.
What you're looking at is refraction caused by light hitting from an angle (like lens flare) and bouncing around on the inside and hitting back at the inside of the glass and the glass is now acting as a backdrop. Just a wild guess. Best thing to try is to block the lens to kill the light completely. Do you still see the blue ring? If so, then it's most likely the CCD sensor.

It's on all shots and only with the back facing camera. it moves when the camera is focusing.

If it is on all the shots, you have a problem unfortunately. I just tested with mine, and you can get a very fierce IR internal reflection with a light source just out of the frame, but it isn't on all the shots of course. (see below)
Bit of a long shot, but if it moves with focusing, it might be some kind of internal light leak from the backlight. Maybe they forgot to install a little baffle or something. Turn the backlight brightness all the way down and see if that reduces it.

EDIT! Install OnePlus5 camera apk!

EDIT! EDIT!
Just install OnePLus5 camera apk form this thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=72849853&postcount=40
No more sharpen edges
After several tests i figureout that HTC apk.... don't take any better photo =) In my samples on HTC cam apk HDR was turned on... and on the stock one OFF.
SO... If you want less sharpened pictures in AUTO mode just turn on HDR. on your stock s7 cam-app =)
Hello to all!
I love S7 and his camera... but... over-sharpening is big prob. for auto mode.
I found in this thread HTC camera that has less sharpening than stock one.
App is rudimental no fancy working options but for point & shot is working like boss!
APK link
And here are examples.. check the edges of the buildings.
I would like to see your tests... my camera is ISOCELL.
Which photo is from which camera app?

You could try shooting in pro mode. I found this post on reddit with settings/profiles to make it less sharp looking so maybe you will like this as much as i do. (click)

Nice!
I tested for couple of days... and i can say that shared HTC camera gives better results even in stock PRO mode. (in term of sharpening edges etc)
For all users that find AUTO shots over-sharpened - just try this cam
Update 1st post...
dont experience this issue at all with the S7 flat sony sensor
Uhh, the HTC cam just took a darker photo so the halo around building edges was less obvious. Look at the other details. Sharpening is the same. Shoot Pro mode + RAW if you don't want any post-processing.
Turning on HDR is no solution for the over sharpening. It's a totally different kind of thing.
HDR can help in some situations (mostly those with dark and light in one frame), but on many situations I recommend not using HDR , especially indoors.
Also when you turn on HDR lots of people have this pinkspot problem so on the samsung sensor so HDR isn't that good.

In PRo mode you still have sharpening on edges but less... RAW is oK.
can someone test if the galaxy s7 still have over-sharpening problem after installing nougat?

is there another app for video , With less sharpened video ?
Yes, luckily there is - called "Cinema 4K". Unfortunately, it doesn't support 3840x2160 for "4K" in conjunction with the S7 but the rather obscure resolution of 3264x2448 instead.
Biggest advance is the possibility to completely turn off any sharpening or noise reduction so one gets a way more "filmic" result.

Lowlight camera purple glare

Can someone check if their OP6 shows a purplish glare while focusing dark objects in low light enviroment?
It only does this in low light, and only while it is focusing. During daytime or normal light doesn't show any purplish glare.
Thanks!!!

No, there is no dark purple hue in dark areas of my photos.
Your camera may be defective or you installed some kind of an app that does that.
OP will ask you to reset the phone, if you asked for support. But first try to reset the camera app?

I reset the camera app, but nothing happens, the same purple hue appears in dark zones. I also installed google camera and the effect is even worse.

I am testing a theory that Oneplus quality control is less capable in Asian countries compared to western countries.
Did you happen to purchase your phone from an Asian retailer or in an Asian country?

That confirms it. You are useless to my thesis.
Nevertheless, OP sold about 2 million phones. Some are bound to be defective. Perhaps you got a bad camera?
I have this purple effect too... sometimes it disappears with the processing and sometimes it doesn't... But it's not really bothering me...it only shows in really dim situations and I rarely take photos at that time

Me too. I think that is a problem software
I'm not sure. I got some raw format images with the purple effect. I believe that one of the sensor is defective and then affects the image processing, increasing noise.

Front camera hidden color correct feature

Noticed this at a club with a blue light, thought it was pretty cool! Sadly only works with the front facing camera but even my friend's samsung s9 couldnt do it

the blue light was corrected from the front facing cam, he sits in blue light but the camera make his face normal as he sits in normal light. very impressive Technic!

Yeah, I got some purpling too on the viewfinder in low light situations. And the resulting photo is purplish where it should be black. I tried a different gcam, twichaya and loaded the twichaya2.xml and that took better pictures with no purpling.

i see , so it is software related then , because i have the exact same thing as you said, i was curious if it could be hardware related , i'll see if i can find that gcam
