Ok so I've had my U11+ 6/128gb for about 2 weeks now and I absolutely love it but the white line issue is real and I'm gutted. It seems to be heat activated as it occurs most when I take it out of a inside jacket pocket or my jeans pocket and shows up most on light colours especially blues.
Now I have to get in touch with HTC which is going to be a minefield as I don't have a registered account as I paid in full with PayPal. I only have my email address and order number and you can't even get in touch with them without an account lol. Luckily I saved all the order emails.
Love the phone but HTC as a company are really not doing themselves any favours. I had to jump through hoops to get the phone now I bet thus RMA process is a nightmare.
I'd post pictures but this is my first post and the site wouldn't let me, I can email them to an admin to add?

I want to buy an HTC U11+ but the place from where I will buy it has no warranty unless you try it in the shop, do you think it's easy to spot this fault ?

I have no doubt mine is a totally isolated incident, I'm not a burning pitchforks kind of guy, you'll be fine. Its a hell of a phone. As for testing for it, try to get a solid light coloured background and run your finger up and down, it doesn't need to be heavy, even the lightest feather touch will bring the lines and discolouration up.
Its obviously a digitizer or some sort of bonding issue, it's just typical that it would be mine. My wife decided to treat me and I went from a cheap Chinese OnePlus thats served me well for 2 years to the HTC U11+ (which is actually my early april 40th birthday present) and I get a faulty one.
Still worse things happen. Goodluck with the purchase, you won't regret it.
Does it fade away quickly?
I have literally had it seconds ago
It looked like lines in a notebook.
It was charging when I took it out of a slide in pocket case.
I saw the lines while I was swiping over the screen in Tapatalk, but it faded away very quickly.
Haven't seen it before but I have mine for just 2 weeks now.
Gesendet von meinem HTC U11 plus mit Tapatalk
Sorry folks, I tried to post a few pics but failed miserably.
Yes it looks exactly like lines on a notebook, they do fade away but if you are swiping through forums, webpages or games they become darker and darker as if they are responding to friction or the heat from your fingers.
I emailed HTC midweek but have had no response and on Friday tried to contact them through Facebook, my worry is I'm going to have to send back the phone as I have already gave my OnePlus to a friend in Belgium so I'm going to be without a phone and I rely on the phone for medical reasons.
In hindsight and with a couple of days without contact I'm beginning to regret not buying from a store but I specifically wanted the U11+ and due to HTC's crazy self destructive marketing and supply system I could only buy it direct from them.
I have same issue with my new u11+. I mailed HTC and had been waiting response for 10 days and they told me to send phone back and they will send me additional mail where they will explain how to send phone. Another 10 days passed and I am still waiting for another mail.
I noticed that when phone is not used for long or when it is cold the lines are most noticeable and blurry trail became violet on white background.
Are you guys using a screen protector?
Not sure but maybe it is related...
I haven't had any issue before I started to use one.
Although it should of course not be an issue nevertheless.

It is more common than you think and happened on the U11 as well. You'll need to RMA it. Good luck with HTC. I spoke to them on live chat and via phone call. Email is too slow.
I had to threaten them with CC chargeback before they repaired mine. If you only had it two weeks can't you just return it? In the UK if you find a fault within 30 days you can get a refund. You'll probably save more time than waiting for them to repair it.
Thanks for letting us know. I didn't know that it was an issue already on U11.
Need to research.
Yes I could probably return it within this 14 days period.
I bought it connected to a phone contract.
But shouldn't be a problem. Maybe they just send me a new one.

I know this is not strictly allowed and an admin can remove the link but I've posted a couple of pictures on the HTC U11+ Facebook page. Not sure why it's so hard to paste a picture in here, i've never had to provide URL links since the 1990's lol, shows how often I use forums.
If someone wants to PM me and post the pictures on my behalf I'm happy to do that, or show me how. I tried creating links from my Google Photos drive but it wouldn't accept them.

Double post. Noob
So I just try HTC power saver app to see if it does white lines and fingerprints ?
I'm having this issue as well. It does go off after a time though.

What do you mean it goes off? It comes back after a while too or it goes off permanently? In that case it's perhaps a glue thing that needs to settle down after a while (1 to 4 weeks)

It usually occur when i apply pressure on the screen, like when i wipe it vigorously. then when I unlock my phone, the lines shows. After a while it does come off. So i think it has something to do with the LCD.
Same issue here. The lines appear to occur more often when its very cold outside (around freezing point). Black lines will appear when scrolling or swiping and then slowly fade away. Also, the screen will start to show severe ghosting and lag effects. Letters become blurred during scrolling. This is especially visible in Spotify.
Feature of LCD or defect?
Damn! It looks like many u11+ got that fault, as I won't have a real warranty I will definitely have to try the screen before leaving the shop, though we don't have such cold temps here in a mobile phones shop
Edit: someone on youtube said this problem showed about a month after he bought the u11+
Looks like this model definitely needs a warranty
Ok I've tried to capture it on video, it's very shaky but I think it's good to see.
https://vimeo.com/257474978?ref=em-share
Also attached 2 pictures.
I've had the phone for no longer then 2 weeks.
I might try to return it, because I don't want to wait weeks for them to repair it.
It not always obvious, but when I try it, it shows up. Not so often in "normal" use though.
The line fade away very quickly and if not, I can literally swipe them away using the whole flat hand.
Maybe it's really due to cold /warmth.
If the screen is cold and I use a finger and swipe fast they show up. If I use the whole hand and I lie my had on the screen it's gone.

Cappucina will you do me a favour and remove your screen protector and give the screen a good clean to see if that cures the problem. If it doesnt i'll replace the screen protector for you. Looking at the video you posted mine was as bad as that but i'm not going to post a follow up until someone else verifies it and then I can start looking for a possible resolution.

To be honest I've already removed the screen protector because I thought that would help but it didn't. It's still there.
Still not sure what I should do.
Withdraw the contract and sent the phone back.
Or contact htc and let it repair.
Either way I will be weeks without the phone.
I have a LG V10 still in use but I'm really digging the U11 Plus.
It's almost not occurring in everyday use, but I know it's there and I can make it appear what bothers me...and it's definitely a hardware fault in my opinion.

I mean I know it's a very small blemish...but it's not fair that I'm sending them back a 100% perfect condition phone and the replacement they send comes cracked out of the box? (not to mention had finger prints on the camera lens...maybe was a refurb?)
I returned my first One X for wifi issues, it will say I'm connected to wifi full strength but the web won't load at all...however if I turn off wifi and turn it back on it will work again for a few hours or minutes.
I'm now having the same problem with this One X plus I'm pissed they sent a cracked one.
Do you think they'll replace a replacement? I asked for a replacement on my 30th day so it's passed the 30 days now from my original order. Also I feel like they won't believe it was shipped out like that. They're closed atm so I'll have to call tomorrow and figure it out. What do you guys think I should do or what they will do?
Yeah, I would complain. **** that.
Definitely call back and let them know. I'm pretty sure they will send another. Especially since your having issues with the replacement as well.
Sent from my HTC One X
yeah the crack is a crack not a blemish. I would raise hell. as far as wifi, did you try the squeeze test? also was it doing that on different routers or just the one?
Yeah I'm not sure if it's the customs fault at this because correct me if I'm wrong but they check each phone individually before letting them through.
My replacement came in with a blue blemish on the corner but I was able to wipe it off with some of my sailva and shirt lol.

our phone is not the same as the international version, meaning the antennae is not on the cover anymore, if you take apart your phone, you will see that. It does not have any connectors so that test is useless.
Good to know my chances of getting another replacement are good! I'm pretty sure the crack was from their shipping. They sent the HTC One X box in another box that was just slightly larger...with absolutely NO packing material. Not even brown paper. It was just shaking around in there. Never had such poor shipping like that on a new phone before.
And both this phone and my last one I tried the squeeze test...didn't change anything...I was getting good reception with Wifi Analyzer on both phones without squeezing...it just eventually cuts off and won't work till I restart wifi. Happens on multiple different routers.
I am a bit bummed though. Battery life on this one was literally almost TWICE as good as my first One X. I had it for 30 days and pretty much ALWAYS got 2 hours of on screen time exactly. The first day with this replacement phone I had about 9 hours of use and 50% battery left which was about normal for my first phone...then I saw that the on screen time was 2 hours and 20 minutes! I can get about 3-4 hours on screen now with this replacement. Hopefully the next one is crack free + another good battery!

I wouldn't put up with it for a minute. You should contact them ASAP.
Also I suspect if you hold off on it they will probably not accept it back because how do they know if you cracked it or if it was something from shipping?

Like almost everyone, I had to wait 3 weeks for my moto g to come in, and when it finally did...one week later I had to send it back for repair. :/
The screen was really bad in certain areas, mainly the top 1/2 inch all the way across and the bottom left corner, about a thumb size portion of the screen. When ever I would view a picture in FB or IG, watch a movie or pictures from my gallery, if there was a bright spot "bright white" in particular, it would display yellow pixels or lines in just that area.
It had no problem rendering colors, just bright white. Like a light bulb, sky, snow things like that in any sort of media, pics, videos or apps. I used the screen overlay in the developers option to show the areas that have problems with rendering and sure enough the areas I mentioned before show up with an overlay of red to show that those parts of the screen do indeed have problems.
I don't know how this problem passed quality control. Maybe because they where so backed up with orders, they wanted to get them out asap. I dont know, but now im out a phone for at least a week maybe more.
thankfully they paid for shipping both ways. lets just hope they dont send my phone back saying there is nothing wrong with it. Just thought I'd share my story in case anyone else had the same problem. Thanxs.
Same here

I've seen this problem on 3 MotoGs'. The lower left corner brightness can be slightly fixed by unscrewing a little the corresponding screw inside the case. Apparently not all people notice this. And another problem, the earspeaker is buzzing on high volume when the other party is talking, to a certain degree, on all units I've checked.

The phenomenon of death often arise during use, due to component quality has decreased over time. In theory, could not overcome, or limit the phenomenon of dead spots appear on the screen. However, in many cases you can restore the dead center for a massage by screen. How do fairly simple, you need to remove the cover, protective glass screen that can be exposed directly to the screen. Now, remember the dead pixel position, then turn off the phone. Use your fingers lightly rubbing the area dead center, then press and hold the power on the phone. Wait for the screen to light up and slowly drop your finger off the screen. Make a couple of times so constantly, that pixel can be recovered.

This is the same problem I have. I've returned one unit back to the seller and now I have this on the new one they've sent as a replacement. As if some shade of white has a problem and then turns into yellow. Also some icons (e.g blue google icon) display a green line over them (blue and yellow mix?) i You will notice this the best when there is a lot of black color on the display (e.g. applications menu). Try swiping the application menu pages slowly and see how this yellowness comes and goes. I'm giving up on Moto G because of this.
Just send that one back as well. Don't blame the phone as a whole because you got unlucky twice. My friend had to send his back too and they just gave him a new one.

I'm not blaming the phone. I still think it's a great deal. But two times is enough for me to realize that less money means less quality. They obviously didn't reduce the price by kicking out the charger and the earphones.

I had the same problem with my first device, but so far so good on the second one.
In india they are shipping it with charger nd headphones...makes you wonder hmm
So I found out that my Moto G had the same issue. I didn't do anything about it, I thought it was a software bug. But when the same bug was on CM, I realized it's my device. It got pretty frustrating to see all these yellow spots on perfectly white displays. The good news is that I managed to fix it.
In case anyone else has this same problem, I recommend that you send it back if possible. If not, here's a solution that worked for me
1. Install this : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.haxor
2. Set it to 80%
There will be absolutely no more of these annoying yellow patches anymore. I guarantee it.
I, too, have seen this issue. In the brightest highlights of white, yellow replaces white. My best guess is that this is a sign of a failing GPU or video memory. It is either a hardware issue or a very low-level software issue. It is definitely not the normal behavior for the Moto G. The workaround by Vedarshi will allow you not to see the yellow, but also lowers the maximum brightness available to you, so it is not a true solution. For those who have seen this problem, has it always been on receipt of the devices or has this shown up over time for anyone?
It's been there from day 1. I personally do not feel that my screen looks dim. It is still readable, even in sunlight.
Me too have the same prob.

Hello guys , i too have to the same issue, right from the 1st day. today i received the fone and heres the stuff. The phone has some problem with the shades of white. and it appears Yellow while swiping. heres some screen shots of my Moto G.
Have a look at some of the White Pics with the yellow color effect. !!
I'm sorry but, why complain on here? Send it back to your retailer. They have to either offer to repair..( iwouldnt personally go for a repair job with screens cause it can be 10000 things causing it and replacing the screen and digilizer might not work) or replace...
I Have similar issue
With any white or brightly coloured aspect of the screen, I always see blue lines go from the brightly coloured shape and up to the top of the screen if I have my keyboard open for example (android lollipop or google keyboard with material light skin) it would leave one big line up the screen giving it a blueish haze, the for a clock on my homescreen, there are blue lines that come off the top to the top of the screen. This also occurs in the boot animation, the whole screen is left with a blue haze. Maybe this is something to do with Motorola making a budget device and so they give it a display that is easily damaged by its own brightness? Maybe? I don't know. Are there any known fixes for this?
Thanks

That's all great getting a replacement unit but this seems to be a very common issue, therefore, there is a high chance that the new one will have the same issue. Also, everyone is posting here because we wish to know how widespread the issue is, which is now apparant and if anyone knows of a reason or potential fix for the issue. Hope that cleared things up for you
Hey guys. I'm just curious as to how well your phones have held up during your daily use.

LCD screens do not get screen burn-ins. They do however get what can be loosley called ghost images. Ghost images or more likey to go away after a while of screen transitioning. LCD screens also dont get these images as easy as like plasmas that do get burn-in. So whats the longest time its been on a still image?

Im sorry your in this predicament. But there is some good news... With some bad. If you you have general knowledge of opening up phones, you can find a disassembly guide and buy a replacment screen, but they dow run about $100 US. Another thing to try is well... See if you can ship it without the battery to one of our devolopers here at the v10 h900 forums to ship offf to lg, and send the new one LG ships to them, back to you.
Thx for the sentiments mate..but i will live with this for another year and then buy something new..still much appreciate the offers

You can get a used LG V10 h901 for 234$ on eBay. From what I've seen, most screen replacements are around 120$. So I'm gonna spend the extra 114 dollars and get an h901 to replace my h900.
I'm on my third v10, my wife is on her second. My first one had a issue with the motherboard and overheated and ultimately had the boot loop of death. Att sent me a refurbished one, even though I had my original phone less then two months, that phone had a faulty wifi antenna or something and could not connect to wifi. They sent me another one which is working fine so far, although it's only been three weeks.
My wife's phone died after she had it for a month and a half, something in the phone shorted out and scorched the bottom of the phone, her replacement is working fine for now too.
We've been through four phones in two months. These are not our first lg phones, but I'm really disappointed in these phones and won't be buying another LG phone again.

Still going strong. All stock MM, SOT of about 4 hours, 36 hours between charges, GPS never fails, BT volume a little low in car, audio great. Seidio case, tempered glass screen protector, not a scratch on it. Have to clear cache a little lag the past 2-3 days. It's big and heavy but I love it!

Mine died this past Monday. Suddenly it turned off and when I tried to turn it back on it was on a bootloop on the LG logo. Made a factory reset and it didn't fixed it. Had to take it to att. They sent me yesterday an att certified new device. So far is working good.

Its scary how we have had the EXACT same experience with the V10. First phone boot loop. Second phone refurb would not connect to wifi and when it did it would shut on and off automatically over and over. Ultimately the phone would reboot itself.

That is crazy that we both had the same issues. I was ready to get rid of att so I could avoid more refurbished phones, but they finally agreed to send me and my wife two new models and they added extra data to our plan. The only thing available was the S7 edge, but I'm just ready to wash my hands of the v10 at this point.
Hopefully you get your stuff resolved

Very good question well i keep mine in a outterbox so its still like new however i have notice a oval shape as if morture gets trapped in between the glass and lcd this is my 2nd v10 and it happened again needs to be better sealed
My second one has been pretty solid. No case, and it's been dropped more than a few times, but so far, it's always landed on its edge so no major damage. I'm convinced that a removable battery contributes to this a lot. Having the battery blow out the back on impact is absorbing a lot of the energy when it falls.
My first one, the prox sensor went out after a few weeks. I figured out that it was caused from me putting a lot of bending stress on the frame when I pulled it out of my front pocket while seated. Luckily warranty covered it, and I'm for careful about removing it from my pocket now.
Do any of you have the slight yellow hue at the bottom 1/3 of your screen? It's especially noticeable on the settings menu. This happened with my HTC 10, and it took 3 phones to finally get a good screen. UGH! Time to return and try again...
I have a very slight yellow tint at the bottom of the screen also, but nothing which would justify a return.
Think it could come from the screen circular polarized filter, as from the screen viewing angle, this yellow tint varies on my phone
"Kind of" same effect seen on Google Pixel 2 XL, with a blue tint on the third top of its screen:

In display settings you can adjust the colour temp. Set it to a little cooler and I think it's gonna be fine . My unit is fine, no tint, no backlight bleed, everything as expected.
My new replacement from Amazon will be here tomorrow! It's kind of like the Pixel 2 pic up above, but imagine the blue at the bottom as yellow, and it's when you're looking directly at it... not at an angle. Hopefully, the second one is good.
P.S. I had no issues with the buttons!
make sure sRGB is turned off or tune it to a better color profile

So what about your replacement unit? Mine has this light yellow tint as well and I ordered it from the HTC Club/Digital River.
Just sent them a mail today from HTC.com, but I guess I'll have a reply during week days.
I'll have a chat conversation on the website too at this time to ask about a replacement.
If they can't make me a replacement, I'll ask a refund and wait a bit before making a new order with it.
Otherwise, coming from a Galaxy S7 edge, this HTC U12 is really great! Too bad I have to send it back but at this price, I guess I'd like to have a "perfect" unit
P.S.: the picture doesn't show it really well but the yellow tint is quite noticeable in real life (I was waiting for a screen protection before removing the base covers too ;p).

I just returned my replacement! I agree... If I'm spending this much money, I'm going to wait for the perfect unit. I have an HTC 10 that has an amazing screen, so if my u12 doesn't compare, I'll just send it back. Since you ordered thru HTC and it's within 30 days, I'd suggest getting a refund and ordering another. If you ask for a replacement thru warranty, you're not guaranteed a new unit (probably unlikely), but it's much easier to return with no questions asked and buy another.

So does that means your replacement unit was also affected? Oooh... better to wait before getting this U12
When I bought my Levono X1 Carbon (from Lenovo official website and it was using the Digital River platform too), the first unit had a dead pixel and I asked for a replacement. I had no problem exchanging it so I hope this will be the same for HTC.
Technically, in France, we have a return policy of 15 days from the reception day, not 30. I'm using this choice for now and will see when their desks will open on Monday. Otherwise, like I said above and on what you suggest, I'll ask a refund and order a new one. But I don't know if I'll place the order right behind the refund - I'd like to be sure if current units are affected with this yellow tint.
No one else is affected like us?

I'm not really sure? Maybe others aren't as OCD as us. Yours is definitely worse than mine, but I still couldn't deal with it. What color was your phone? Mine were both ceramic black, so maybe I'll try blue next. I'll wait a little bit to buy again too.
Have you received your replacement unit or have you already send it back?
Maybe we're the only ones affected by this yellow tint, maybe we are too OCD I'll be sure when I'll (eventually) get the new unit x)
I ordered the translucent blue one so not sure by switching colors, you'll solve any screen problem ^^
Sadly I have to deal with HTC for now as I ordered the phone in the HTC Club for the cheaper price. Otherwise, I would try with Amazon. The phones aren't supposed to be dispatched from the same depots but it might be a faulty production, so yes, better to wait before ordering one.
Yup, I returned the replacement today. I may order 2 next time, and then hopefully return only one. Ha. Stupid yellow tint.
Some news from my problem: HTC accepted to take back the defective phone and only offered me the refund option. So I'll wait a bit before making a new order Will stick with my S7 edge a bit longer =]
Great! I'm waiting for my refund to be processed before buying again. Oh, I will get one without yellow tint! ?

Placed my order for 2 x blue 64gb. Let's hope 1 doesn't have yellow tint!
Nice! Feel free to keep us to date when you receive them
Actually, in France especially, HTC mentions on their website they will ship new units at late July/early August. Maybe you'll get the last units of a « first wave ».
Hopefully during August or during September, it will be a new wave letting avoiding this yellowish tint.
I THINK WE HAVE A WINNER! It only took 4 phones to get there... Haha.

Mind posting some pics?
It's really hard to capture yellow tint or no yellow tint from a picture.
Keep it trying Just take a pic from the phone parameters and we will notice, or not
So, I received my other unit, from Amazon this time. And let's say that this unit has a worst screen than my first unit: the tint is noticeable at both bottom and top edges...
I guess I'll have to get in touch with Amazon and still hope for a homogeneous screen =o
So my experience with the device has had its ups and downs. Truly I do love it, was looking for a good replacement of my Pebble Time which its at the end of its age basically but still functions great after almost 3 years. There is one issue I've come across and its dealing with the display and water leaking. So I've had 2 devices and both failed roughly 1-2 months of use. Right now on my second RMA of the device, 1st one actually got credit to get a new one.
Device one... was going good and started noticing streaks on the screen, green type. Eventually went to full out extreme brightness of the display and the unit got very very hot. Even charging would lead to insane temps coming from the unit for even a very short period of time. This one was contributed to water penetration into the device some how... I was able to RMA it and get a credit back. Figured it was just a fluke and got another device. Device 2 lasted a shorter period of time and failed in a different way but still dealing with the display. From white streaks across the display to full out white screen with odd brightness again. Again from what I can tell its dealing with water leaking issue... its in process now so we'll see.
Now that being said, if it was really water issue... the device is meant for the water! Swimming, Diving, Showers, etc. Its rated for that on the device (50m depth), which so happens to be similar to my Pebble Time which I've never had an issue with. Even staying that, first one I did swim with it and rinsed it off after, the second one if it got wet it was from washing my hands! Samsung's quality control screwed it up for the Fit2 Pro's?
Curious anyone else experience with this device?

Same here. After 2 months of use , the HR monitor stopped working and it was discharging fast, the second day, after pool it became unresponsive and died.
The service unit replaced the pcb and the battery and sent it back. Worked fine for 2 days and it took water damage again. They repaired it again, came back, worked for one entire hour of swimming. Not mine got replaced but I just want my money back at this point.
That 5atm waterproofing is obviously BS

Least mine isn't getting sent back. Totally called it, UN-repairable. Totally agree that the 50ATM is BS on the device.
Curious how the the new watch is going for the 50ATM as well.

I'm reluctant in buying Samsung gear again. Although the The gear sport looks promising. I'll hang on to this one till I get my money back and wait for more wear os options to appear.
I'm pretty sure this one takes water through the small sensor holes or maybe on button presses while submerged.
Shame. It could've been a perfect all in one device.

Correction mine did get sent back and now I'm talking to their support group. Not only was it not repaired because of "water damage" (no kidding) but they actually cracked the casing on my device on the bottom edge putting it back together or taking it apart. 5ATM (50 Meters), ha, more like can't last in the sink, rain might even do the device in.
I'd be really curious of their other devices, like mentioned the sport, or even the new Galaxy Watch which, has the same specs. Maybe not as small around the frame would help it out but I'd be really cautious. Yes I'd have to say that myself I'll be waiting to see other options and its sad I really do like the device and want to but this is just ridiculous.
My gf2 pro was more than 20 times in a swimming pool (I'm using it regularly for a swimming) and no problems of any kind! Only thing I don't like is impossibility to choose pools shorter than 25m in native samsung health app so I have to use speedo aplication.
