I got a Pixel 2 non XL, but the screen and a reddish yellow tint to it, so I contacted google support and sent it back for a replacement. I talked to support several times, and every time they said I would be getting a new unit since I had the phone for less than 15 days, but I saw this post on reddit, and I worried that they might send me a refurbished unit. Is there any way to tell if the replacement phone is refurbished or new when it arrives? I sent back the charger and accessories not knowing I was supposed to keep them, and support said that was fine since new phones came with accessories and refurbished ones didn't, but I read a post on reddit from someone saying they recieved a refurbished device, but it came with the accessories. I only had the phone for like a day, so I want to make sure the replacement I'm getting is new, and not refurbished.

No, because I sent it back.
So how can I tell if the new device is new or refurbished once I receive it?
They're usually brand new this early in production.
What was your issue with the phone?
Can you describe it a bit more?

You're not the only one... Not sure if you saw this thread:

Or my follow-up question here:

I'm on my second Pixel 2 for much the same reason. I don't know if there's any way to tell with 100% certainty, but my replacement device certainly appeared to be brand new.

On a white page, the phone had a yellow tint, and then kind of a reddish or pink tint near the top of the screen.

email will usually tell if its refurbished or new
I got an email saying that the replacement had shipped and it didn't say it was refurbished, and support said I would be getting a new one, so I'm pretty sure it will be new. I went to Best Buy today and looked at the Pixel 2 they had, and it also had a yellow tint, but not quite as bad as the one on the Pixel 2 I sent in.
Check out the pixel 2xl thread for more questions in that model

The cellular radio died on my Pixel 2, so they sent me a refurbished replacement. The display quality is no where near as good in the replacement. I'm really disappointed that the phone I had died after only five months, and they gave me a crappy replacement. Anyway I guess I just needed to vent somewhere

Soo I'm on my second sensation (first one had gps & signal issues and also a loose battery door) and my 14th day just passed (bought from Wal-Mart). I just installed a zagg and noticed that my screen is flickering and if I look at the bottom it seems like the screen is bleeding I guess? Can't take a picture because the S4G is my main phone and my veer is dead. I thought that the zagg installation solution may have caused it and thought maybe I squeegeed the liquid into the screen somehow but I installed a zagg on my last one and it didn't have this issue. I checked the sticker and it's still white and so is the battery's. Phone is sitting in rice right now but it doesn't just look like the screen is bleeding it sort of looks like someone pushed real hard on the bottom because there is a little spot where it looks like the screen was bent (hard to explain). Anyone have suggestions on what to do? I figured I call T-Mobile 1st thing in the morning and just get a warranty replacement because I have the PHP and last time I called for a warranty replacement because a defective phone I wasn't charged anything.
Update: They told me that with walmart I'm still on my 14th day so they can't send me one yet. Calling Wal-Mart now
Sorry about poor quality pics (veer camera isn't that good)

My other walmart has them but they said I can only exchange at the one I bought it from
Whoa let phone sit for a few hours and now the screen is fine. Battery cover is still loose but I won't bother exchanging for that

Mind = blown
So I went through the hassle of all of this today. No walmart will exchange from another store & tmobile can't do anything about it. The only thing he was able to do was notate my account saying that I can get it exchanged passed the 14 days since the walmart didn't have stock.
Luckily they had stock when I called in later in the day
Walmart told me I could exchange mine at any Walmart.

just exchanged mine at Walmart cuz of the squishy bottom part of the screen as well.. the new sensation feels much more solid, and makes me wonder about long term use of our phones. My old HD2 felt WAY MORE SOLID, and DURABLE even after multiple drops. The switch button at the bottom of our phones makes it feel like after multiple weeks/months of use, it will eventually degrade. Especially dropped..

Hi guys, my i9023 gets broken, it's doesn't turn on anymore, anyway, the screen is perfect. I got a idea some days ago to buy a new i9023 with a broken screen, so this becomes cheaper and I fix this by myself. So, where can i find somewhere in the internet selling that? I can from someone here too.

Check eBay. You can even call up the nearest Samsung service center for the cost of a replacement screen.

My phone is bricked my have the normal screen, I want to buy one with the cracked screen because is cheaper, soo I can fix it by myself.
I got a Verizon HTC One by auction from ebay and the seller claimed it is brand new.Everything looks like it is new but there is a defect on the screen.Looks like a purple blemish and it doesn't seem like a dead pixel or something since I can see the defect even when the phone is powered off.The seller said he got it from craigslist and I contact Verizon and HTC and looks like they only take care of the phones sold by them.Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance.

Interesting, it could be the digitzer which is giving the purple colour. Could you perhaps post a picture of your HTC one (showing the screen)
Also I found an article that *may* be related to your problem.. Link

As the picture shown. It's more obvious when you look at the screen.I guess it should some kind of manufacturing defect since I can see a spot even when the screen is off.It should have nothing to do with the camera I guess. Thanks for the information though
I have just received my XZ dual and all seems to be OK apart from the not so great camera, which I expected.
I have just found that there is a light bleed coming from the phone body, in the bottom right corner, between the display panel and frame. Waterproofing test seems to be working. Also it always stops about half second later after I turn off the screen, which is a bit strange.
I am adding a picture...
Does anyone have similar issue?
No light bleed on mine. Think the camera is fine too.

If you brought the phone brand new you don't need to sent it back to seller. It has international warranty for 2 years. Sony will fix the issue or replace handset.

Thanks for your advice. The seller has actually contacted me with the return shipping details and I will be returning it to their UK hotspot.
I have decided to get a refund instead of a repair or replacement as I am not really sure I want this phone anymore, at least not now. It's a beauty, but I will wait once all the issues are fixed and then maybe get one.

Hey guys,
just noticed that my screen is damaged. Bought the device the 23th May. Can someone relate to?
They say they can't replace the device because I'm contacting after the replacmente period.
Well, I just noticed because I was replacing screen protector. Bullsh*
Unfortunate, but if you didn't notice it for 4 weeks I can't see there's a lot you can do.

looks like to me this is not the screen maybe but the a thin polymer bezel that holds the screen in the frame?
cheers
If you didn't notice something like that in 4 weeks then it must've not been there when the phone came so it's probably your fault. They tend to want to replace the screen in cases like this and ask for a ton of $$$, so imo you should keep it like that if they say that.

That doesn't look like the screen in the picture. It looks like the housing that is chipped. If I'm seeing it correctly that would be hard for you to do yourself. It should be covered under warranty in my opinion.

Yes you're right. I didn't explain myself correctly. I already chatted with them and explained. Monday or Tuesday they'll pick up the phone.
From now on, I'll check carefully every smartphone.
Buy the screen protection plan and then get it replaced or go through squaretrade, in the US OnePlus screen replacement is like 165.00, but for a little chip I don't think it's worth it.

I bought the screen protection plan. But as insomnia77 said and I agree, it's not the screen that's damaged. It's the housing. Must be production problem.
Not trying to be funny buy you DID remove the original screen protector that's pre-applied? Only asking cos that looks like bubbles under a protector?
Never mind, just noticed the chip. That's bad, did you give it a healthy drop?

Lol. No I didn't drop the phone once so far.
And yes, I was applying a new screen protector, after using tempered glass but didn't like it because of the bad accuracy of FP. Luckely I replaced the screen protector so I could notice the damage.

So that's what I got as answer from Oneplus:

I think this is a "cheap" after sales service.

If it takes too long ask for help on the official OnePlus forums. I've seen them escalate cases. If they don't have the part I would insist on a new replacement.
