Do I need to clear cache on OREO update - Sony Xperia XZ Premium Questions & Answers

Just unboxed my new XZP on O2 UK and flashed upto 5.15 OREO from 720 7.1.1
As im moving to a New OS, I know its a good Idea to Format device / Clear Cache through stock recovery..
As SONY Xperias dont have a Stock Recovery... can anyone advise me how to format my device or will a Reset through Settings be ok?
Thanks

I just did a factory reset through "Settings" and its working fine... In fact better than fine.. Its fantastic under OREO...
FINALLY.. Loud Speakers... in fact theyre as loud as my HTC U Ultra but sound better

so if i did not factory reset after updating to oreo I wont get the full high volume of my speakers?
what does updating have to do with clearing the cache? doesnt the update it self clear it after its done flashing?
im new to this just tell me how does factory reset help after the update?

Speaker is not working!

Hi all,
I just recently flashed Bosnia's Senseless Extreme 2.0 ROM and everything worked great. Now for some odd reason today my speaker just stopped working. Ringtones, youtube, music..ect
Headphone works, talking on the phone works.. its just my speaker is not producing any sounds!
Can someone help!?
Make backup , wipe data/ factory reset before flashing. dalvik cache and fix permissions after flash of rom. Let sit for 10 min.. Make sure you reboot once before installing all your apps. What sound apps you got on your phone? Any? In other words what im asking is do you have any other apps besides the one in settings that controls volume settings or enhances volume?

[Q] Will I be able to get my Bluetooth back ?

Hello there !
I can't toggle on Bluetooth in my GT-P3110 recently.. I'm not on airplane mode.. but WiFi works though...
I even flashed a CM ROM(10.1.3 right now) to see if it works.(may be an silly deed.. I'm just new to these android things)
I have uploaded two videos which shows what really happens when trying to turn on bluetooth...
When I was using the stock rom
After flashing CM
I think that I'm having some hardware failure (i.e. dropping the unit - I never dropped myself.. idk if it happened actually as I share this tablet with my family )
I want to know whether this can be repaired ?.
Is there a seperate accessory inside for Bluetooth which can be replaced ?
Thanks in advance !
Were you on stock firmware when you noticed your bluetooth is not turning on? Was it from the start of your new tablet? Take a look at this thread, someone has the same problem with you and solved it but his problem was caused of inproper flashing http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2447156
You could also try to reinstall using wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache, wipe dalvik cache from clockwork mod and reinstalling cyanogen again to see if that fixes it.
As your last resort you could flash your tab back to stock recovery and fw (and use TriangleAway to reset your flash counter) and send it to Samsung for repair, especially if it still has warranty.

Thanks for the reply... I noticed the issue when I was on stock stock ROM. I may have to send it to Samsung.
Thanks for the support :highfive:
Is it possible you have another kernel other than stock?

yea i didn't think wiping the cache would've helped.... but for some reason it did.. makes no sense to me either
have you done a factory reset? or install a CPU usage meter and track down which app is using up your CPU cycles

Waiting for my U11 and factory reset

I'm waiting for my phone to be delivered, and am assuming it will be on Nougat and will upgrade to Oreo when it arrives. Should I factory reset it after the upgrade, or will it be good to go? Can't wait for it to arrive, snowed in at the moment in Ireland!
Anyone? Is there any benefit in doing a factory reset?
I would recommend a factory reset after updating to Oreo can't hurt if there is nothing to lose on the phone.
Just a plain old factory reset then, no wiping cache or anything else?
I'd do a full wipe if you have to lose. When I got mine first I updated through ota, full wipe with Oreo then started to add accounts and apps. Don't think you have to but thought it would be best for to start fresh with Oreo
Misinformation galore!.
You don't need to factory reset after updating unless you experience problems. The updates are approved to not knacker the device.

I actually didn't bother, thought that as it was just out of the box, bit pointless to wipe it.
I agree only wiped as read about issues people had with wakelocks and had nothing to lose as it was just out the box. You are right not really required until you have issues.

What happens if i factory reset

Hi all, first of all, sorry for my bad english.
My dad's smartphone has stopped working properly, then i thought to give him my old, but still nicely working, oneplus one.
My OPO is rooted, has a custom recovery (i think its name is TWRP or something like that, sorry but i don't touch these topics from years and i've forgot almost everything), and has a custom ROM (lineage OS 15.1) with android version 8.1.0.
Now, i would like to wipe my phone in order to give it full empty to my father. I want to keep lineageos, recovery and root are not so much necessary, idk if they will be keeped or not.
I would like to restore it as new, no applications, no data, no settings, no dalvik cache (if i remember well this had to be wiped too).
What have i to do? Factory reset or normal reset?
Thanks!
