Hi all, first of all, sorry for my bad english.
My dad's smartphone has stopped working properly, then i thought to give him my old, but still nicely working, oneplus one.
My OPO is rooted, has a custom recovery (i think its name is TWRP or something like that, sorry but i don't touch these topics from years and i've forgot almost everything), and has a custom ROM (lineage OS 15.1) with android version 8.1.0.
Now, i would like to wipe my phone in order to give it full empty to my father. I want to keep lineageos, recovery and root are not so much necessary, idk if they will be keeped or not.
I would like to restore it as new, no applications, no data, no settings, no dalvik cache (if i remember well this had to be wiped too).
What have i to do? Factory reset or normal reset?
Thanks!

Hello,
It's my first post here, so.. Hey !
I'm just a beginner in roms/root/flashblahblah (and I'm french, wich is bad too)
So, yesterday, I rooted my device (wich is the C2 version), and all was fine.
Until I wanted to install this rom : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2527962
So, I boot into recovery using TWRP, backup, wiped Factory Reset, wipes Date, Cache, Dalvil.android_secure, and Dalvik cache.
Then, I flashed the rom, I even did the boot.img thing in my computer.
But, at the end, after 5 hours, fighting with my phone, CM wont boot, It's just stuck on the boot, and the arrow is just turning again and again and again around the little arrogant robot, who is watching me scornfully.
I've seen many threads, but none of them helped me. So.. Can you help me ? Before I get mad ?

Well, I used this to unlock bootloader/TWRP/Root/... : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2175411
I can't remember the message from the boot.img (I'm at work right now), but it told me that the process worked well, something like that.
I've downloaded this version of your Rom (wich is looking amazing btw) cm-11-20140110-UNOFFICIAL. Is this good or should I use an other ?
Oookkayyy... So I re-do all the things, and now, it's working ! Incredible.
Well, that rom is amazing, I have a lot of fun with it (despite a few bugs).
BUT, wait, I've got a question about updates. If you do a new stable version, or if I want to update to the un-stable version (cm-11-20140212-UNOFFICIAL) with the functionnal wifi, I have to wipe my phone and my datas again, of can I update it without losing anything ?

From personal experience, dirty flashing isn't always the best option. I'd just wipe everything just to be safe.
In terms on Windows updating, when you install a fresh OS, you get a folder with all of your old crap in it and it takes up precious space.
Well, you have to write over all of that junk on the phone as well. Hope this helps you with your venture through the ROM world.
Hello everyone
I just wanted to ask everyone a quick questions before proceeding, as I want to make sure I'm doing this correctly. I currently have a TF300T with Cromi-x 5.4 installed. I want to "wipe" the pad, essentially back to what I would call "fresh", basically, where absolutely no data of any kind is left (apps are gone, data is gone, config files are gone). I did this with my non-rooted Samsung Note 2 and it is running GREAT now (noticeably quicker), so I want to try with my TF300 which is often VERY sluggish.
What I wanted to check with the community is that if I do a Factory Reset from TWRP, it will wipe everything, but NOT - TWRP and my Cromi-x ROM, correct. I don't want the tablet completely wiped of everything (meaning it has nothing at all on it).
I think I"m being paranoid, as what I've read makes me believe that the Factory Reset wouldn't wipe TWRP and my ROM but just all data, meaning I have to start from scratch which is fine.
Thanks very much!

Well if you would like to wipe it all then do a full wipe from TWRP then push or sideload or MTP the rom zip back on the tablet and flash it for a nice clean install...
Let me know you need any help along the way..
Thx Josh
Hi
I got a jiayu s3 advance and it has been working quite allright. Installed a new rom and was working just fine until now when it just gets stuck at logo (launch screen). Anyways, I entered recovery and wiped all cache etc, it didnt work. I really do not want to factory reset and lose all the data unless I have too. Is there anything else I can try?
I am also thinking about getting a new rom. I see there are a lot of version but really dont know the big difference between Miu, CM, official, cyanogen, also some google pixel mod official.
So I have an XT1031 and it's been running Ressurection Remix MM (Thuglife kernel) for about a year now when suddenly it died today.
I haven't messed with anything, simply uninstalled some apps, mainly games then a few hours later it all the sudden rebooted, now when it boots up it'll optimize apps and once it has finished it will crash or something basically causing it to bootloop. Why?
Thankfully anything really important, such as pictures, are already backed up to dropbox, so I haven't lost very much but is there anyway to salvage it?
(Note: I have booted into recovery and tried deleting both the cache as well as the Dalvik/ART cache no good, unfortunately...)
And... While I'm here I figure I might as well ask how to install Nougat? By that I mean, can I go straight from MM into Nougat or do I need any sort of updates first?
Thanks.
Alright, since nobody apparently has any ideas on the matter, I went ahead and factory wiped my phone and it works now, although I'll probably wipe it and install a Nougat rom later.
Hi. I have a Oneplus one bought few years ago, never updated. Since few days I can't run "system settings" app : when I click on the wheel or on "system settings" nothing happens!!!!!!! So I can't pair a new bluetooth or wifi device .......:crying:
Any "easy" solution?
Thank you.
unlock your bootloader maybe, flash twrp and flash new rom, it might be rom issue, maybe
Sent from my A0001 using Tapatalk
Thank you, but is there not a easy way like downloading an system settings app?
Can't you just factory reset? It will reinstall system apps hence fix the issue.
Thank you.
When I read things about OPO factory reset, I can't understand what it erases exactly. I'd like to keep my apps and personnal datas.
Do you somethings about that?

Well, you could "dirty flash" from fastboot by flashing everything but userdata.img it will keep all your data and fresh install the OS. But only if you are running stock COS.
https://forums.oneplus.net/threads/mirrors-for-official-cyanogen-roms-ota-updates.141825/
Ok. But how can I know if I'm running stock COS (I can't access system settings)?
What I know is that I've bought the phone 3 years ago and done nothing on it (no flash ......) so I think I run an official three years old OPO OS.
So is it a stock COS? (stock OS?)
Thank you for your help.

Ah, so you have the bootloader still locked, which means that to unlock it you would have to factory reset.
You should really backup your stuff and factory reset your phone. I do it once a month or even less.
One more thing I can suggest you is to delete cache, either system app cache or the whole system from the recovery.
Boot to recovery and wipe cache.
Hope it works, if it doesn't I really advise you to factory reset.
COS = CyanogenOS
