Moto G (1st Gen) not waking up after screen lock

Hi,
i have a Moto G (1st Gen) with lollipop 5.0.2 installed officially. Not rooted.
The problem is that after the screen locks automatically & i want to wake it up by pressing the power button, its not waking up after screen lock.
There is absolutely no response as if phone is dead. Then i have to keep the power button pressed for awhile and the phone restarts & then after screen lock this happens again.
what could the issue be? any resolution? is is a battery issue?
any help?

i removed the "swipe to lock" also
In lollipop, there is no option for setting Sleep to "NEVER". i can set it to a minimum time of 15seconds & maximum time of 30mins to auto sleep.
Cant set the Sleep to "NEVER" and then manually lock & unlock with the
question is why is this happening?
Just Play with it, rotation, auto brightness, all relative to The screen, minutes etc

have tried every combination possible & played with all brightness levels, daydream on/off, sleep time change etc, wake on notifications etc...nothing helps, it just does not come out of sleep mode. once in sleep mode, all email data phone calls cut off.
also, when i press the power button for awhile & it starts up, all my tabs etc still remain as it is, its not like a restart, more like coming out of sleep more.

I too faced the same problem after upgrading to lollipop. The phone is not dead...The issue is with the adaptive brightness.. Take the phone to some bright area and you will notice the very lighter display..Either increase the brightness or turn off the adapative brightness option. Hope it helps :fingers-crossed:

First flash the stock 5.0.2 ROM , and check if it solves. Check that you are writing all the commands for flashing. Search particular flashing tutorial for the OS

Samsung car mode - how to disable its messing with the phone?

Samsung car mode messes up couple things on the phone:
1. it increases navigation bar in size - which is not particularly bad from the ergonomics prospective but looks absolutely ugly
2. disables recent button on the nav bar
3. completely disables phone UI, you can't get to keypad etc.
Now, I switch to car mode in order to get Car Mode Ultimate as my home screen. Does anyone know of a way to stop sammy crap to mess up with the phone when in car mode?
I agree i hate how it increases navigation bar size to like two thumb lengths its bs i want my maps gps full screen

Anyone else's 7 Pro always turns on in the pocket?

Sometimes when I put my 7 Pro (LOCKED) into my pocket, it just turns on again and changes the music title for example or turns on the flashlight. Also, I see the battery is draining because of the random turn ons/turn offs inside the pocket.
Is this a thing for others too?
there should be settings to prevent that. I'm not on stock rom so I don't know but look in display settings

Pocket mode is supposed to prevent this. The oneplus 7 pro DOESN'T have this, unfortunately. Pocket mode used to rely on proximity (and possibly other sensors), but the oneplus 7 pro lacks a proximity sensor.. Hope someone has a workaround at the moment.
---------- Post added at 08:09 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:07 PM ----------
You did NOT address the issue. The screen is actually being turned on; not a mere ambient screen being shown. The op7pro lacks a pocket mode for some reason, most likely due to lack of proximity sensor.

Yeah it's been turned on, presumably through the lift to wake feature. I had the same issue with the phone becoming unlocked, making calls, changing my settings, etc. I turned off lift to wake. The screen no longer woke in my pocket giving access to the phone, so no issues since. Loads if threads on here also with the same issue. Also OP see if you have on body detection turned on. If there was another fix I'd obviously state it.
I don't use lift to wake either... work around for now.

Disable charging status text while AOD is off

image/Scenario: AOD is on a schedule 0700-2100. Go to bed after 2100, stick the phone on the wireless charger. There's a short wireless charging animation which then switches to 2 lines of text near the bottom of the screen showing battery image and charge level. The AOD is off so why is this shown? Leaving the phone on the charger all night this could lead to screen burn.
Is there anyway to turn this battery charging status off? I spent a good 20 minutes last night looking through everything to turn it off.... nothing obvious.

I also want to remove this I like the display totally off on the night lol
I noticed this as well. I flipped my phone screen down for a few minutes and when I flipped it back side up, I saw the indicator come back on so I think it goes off when the screen is down. Should go off when the screen is facing up too, though. Annoying.
Yes. I actually googled this a few days ago. Maddening.

Ran into the same issue. Turns out it's the always on display. Turning it off in the settings wont work the only way to do it is disabling it entirely. The only way I found do it is disabling the app with adb or buying package disabler pro online and disabling it with that app.

This sucks, this will cause burn in as we all charge our phones nightly. I reached out to samsung and they said they haven’t heard of it
Everything needs to use the samsung members app and go to help and report this. It will wreck our phones.

I’m not hacking my phone to fix this i bought packaage disable pro from App Store and it i find and and it says i cant disable it.
Seems some Samsung users used to complaint that they cannot see the % when they are charging. That's why Samsung add this notice compulsorily on note10 when the phone is charging. **** that users.
I've taken the route to fully disable the AOD service. It's disappointing that I have to disable it completely just for one little thing like that, but I've experienced OLED burn-in on a previous Galaxy S9, and it happens way too fast with static images that can sit there for 6+ hours straight.
I'm assuming that since there is no separate notification light outside of the OLED display now, Samsung thinks that's an appropriate compromise.
If anyone can figure out how to schedule disabling AOD during specific time periods, that help

You can use Bixby Routines for that.
Edit: That's just to disable it in settings, so it will not help...
Potential fix - Pls try
It's the most expensive phone and turns out that it will be trash in no time.
Guys, the green icon that shows up on battery full will cause more drastic burns as that is a brighter color. Samsung totally f uped the note this time.
Potential fix
Can someone try installing an older version of AOD? The note 9 or 8 version? This new version can be Uninstalled using package disabler.
I think that may help. Pls can someone try and share the feedback?
Disable charging text
Hi.i figured out a work around for this problem.first you need to create and name a folder in either internal storage or on your sd card.then put a fullscreen black wallpaper in this folder and nothing else.when done go to settings, select display, scroll down to screensaver, turn on and select photo frame, click the cog icon, find your pre named folder and select it.exit out and now when charging your note10 the screensaver will show the black wallpaper instead of the charging text.

I've just tried this (exactly as described above) and tested the black screen jpg I created using the preview button however when placing on the charge (AOD is off) the charging text still shows on my Note10+ 5G.

The trick is to let the screen timeout on it's own then this seems to be working.
Thanks for posting. This is a much better work around than just disabling AOD with a package disabler.

Well done, phone is charging and screen is completely blank. So with screen on, place on charger and just leave it.

I also just tried manually turning off the screen and then I double tapped so my lock screen showed up and when that timed out (much quicker) it was also pure black.
I tried this trick, but when I tap the screen it goes straight to lockscreen and not aod. Is it supposed to be that way?

This works perfect!! Thank you!
I recommend just downloading this wallpaper:
https://images.app.goo.gl/dnsSgUx7tj9n8E1g8
It is a true black wallpaper. I previewed the screensaver with this wallpaper in a pitch black room, and there's not even a hint of light coming from my screen with it. Looks like the phone is shut off completely.
Another option is to just turn on "colors" screensaver. Benefit is with the moving/changing colors, it refreshes the pixels. Downside is it might light up your room at night.
Here's the ironic thing: if you plug in your phone and go to the lock screen, the same charging status is displayed. BUT it flashes on and off every few seconds! Like Samsung knew it might cause burn in on the lock screen, but didn't think about it on AOD.
Which leads me to wonder: is the AOD bright enough to cause burn in? I'd be curious to see reviews from users 6 months from now who charge overnight and see if they have charge state burn in.
By the way, I used GoodLock to get rid of my status bar. On previius models, it auto hid on the browser, but not on the Note 10+. I don't want it to burn in either.
This is a no go for me. Using this method, prevents the phone going into deep sleep...

You would be only using this while charging so what does it matter if the phone goes into deep sleep or not?

Go to screen settings, panel mode and choose amoled. or something like that. That will fix it.
The new calibration is probably more accurate. The default on Pie tilted blue. The "natural" setting on A10 is closer to the RGB standard and similar to the "adaptive" setting on pie.

The new "Vivid" one (default one) actually seems to be exactly the same as DCI-P3, so pretty accurate. The "AMOLED" advanced setting looks like the previous stock one.
My one plus 6, after updating to pie 10.3, colors are messed up. Screen calibration, night mode all greyed out i.e. not selectable... Badly need a quick solution to go back to original color setting options.

Thanks for this, I noticed my screen felt "off" after the update. Also the Facebook Messenger bubbles weren't as blue and I wondered why.
Hmm. I've not updated yet. My worry is that, while at release when the screen was reviewed the default colour profile (on pie labelled display-p3) was too blue, and DCI-P3 was ideal, over time my screen has yellowed itself due to inevitable amoled aging, and now I find the default display-p3 is accurate and DCI-P3 is far too yellow! The trouble with colour profiles on amoled screens is that they have completely different characteristics when the phone is new, compared to 18 months later.
So I hope there is still a profile that is the same as the old default display-p3 on pie.
