Hi,
i have a Moto G (1st Gen) with lollipop 5.0.2 installed officially. Not rooted.
The problem is that after the screen locks automatically & i want to wake it up by pressing the power button, its not waking up after screen lock.
There is absolutely no response as if phone is dead. Then i have to keep the power button pressed for awhile and the phone restarts & then after screen lock this happens again.
what could the issue be? any resolution? is is a battery issue?
any help?

i removed the "swipe to lock" also
In lollipop, there is no option for setting Sleep to "NEVER". i can set it to a minimum time of 15seconds & maximum time of 30mins to auto sleep.
Cant set the Sleep to "NEVER" and then manually lock & unlock with the
question is why is this happening?
Just Play with it, rotation, auto brightness, all relative to The screen, minutes etc

i am using a mac, i dont theres any motorola pc sync for mac?
have tried every combination possible & played with all brightness levels, daydream on/off, sleep time change etc, wake on notifications etc...nothing helps, it just does not come out of sleep mode. once in sleep mode, all email data phone calls cut off.
also, when i press the power button for awhile & it starts up, all my tabs etc still remain as it is, its not like a restart, more like coming out of sleep more.

I too faced the same problem after upgrading to lollipop. The phone is not dead...The issue is with the adaptive brightness.. Take the phone to some bright area and you will notice the very lighter display..Either increase the brightness or turn off the adapative brightness option. Hope it helps :fingers-crossed:

First flash the stock 5.0.2 ROM , and check if it solves. Check that you are writing all the commands for flashing. Search particular flashing tutorial for the OS
you have.

I'm running CM11s 33R with franco kernel r14 and Google Now Launcher. When I manually turn on my screen with the power button or double tap, to check the time for example, the screen will not go back to sleep. However if it turns on automatically because I received a text or snapchat, it will sleep if I leave it alone. Anyone else getting this issue/ have any fixes? I have screen sleep set in display settings to be after 30 seconds of inactivity so i'm wondering what the issue is. Thanks in advance.
Edit: It actually seems like my screen timeout isn't working at all, past the lock-screen, even while i'm in the actual device or an app.
Are you plugged in? In developer options, there's an option for the screen to never sleep while plugged in. If not, the answer to everything: reboot the phone!
Nope not plugged in, and i reboot multiple times on a daily basis and that hasn't fixed it.
For me, when I double tap or press the power button and leave it there, the screen will go back to sleep after 30 seconds. My old phone would turn off the screen after 5 seconds on the lockscreen. There doesn't seem to be a setting for this and it's just automatically set at 30 seconds.
i also got this problem
I got this problem also
i'm running same Stats like: CM11S 33R, test with Franco Kernel R14, Trebuchet Launcher.
If i doesnt turn my screen off by power button the screen will be stay activ anyway no-matter which settings i set on Options

i also have this problem... annoying... any update?
I am also having this problem.
In my case, the screen will stay on indefinitely. I have timeout set to 30sec.
I have "Llama" app running, and configured to disable my lockscreen based on location. This could be generating some problems... But I don't think so.
Any new thoughts or fixes?

Hey guys,
I just need to know all the options available in HAM7 in order to switch-off the WI-FI whenever I pressed the lock-button or screen is off or phone in sleep mode?
However, Can anyone tells me how long does the phone needs to enter the "sleep mode" if it's screen timeout is set to 15seconds + all apps are protected "restricted" from (Running in background + Push-notification)?
Thanks

Hey Alex,
Thanks for your help, but i think there is already an option in the Huawei Ascend mate 7 phones for doing such thing but i can't really find it, the reason that i don't need to download any (Battery Saving Programs, that the phone is packed with the same utility too! called "Phone Manager") ,, it was working with me, but seems to be i done something (disable something or protect something "Restricting it") from doing it's normal function that i still don't figure it out what is it!
Thanks for your reply, I've tried this app and i wasn't knew what does "Smart WIFI" means until Now, so i would make it my last choice to download this app again, in case if i didn't find a way to manage it within the phone settings.

Unfortunately, I've the same options on "Never (increase data usage)"
But still the wifi is on, that means either the phone doesn't enter into sleep mode after 2-10mins or more or either it's not the option we're looking for!

Yeah, same here, I tested on 'Never' and I have the same result, so don't worry it's not from your phone, probably it's from the firmware I guess.
You can test the Smart Wi fi option from the Smart Battery Saver app to see if it works.

As you can see in the following picture it's my settings, without using the app "Smart Battery Saver" suggested by member in previous comments the device couldn't been able to Switch WIFI automatically, unless I use the app provided.
However, the phone was working properly but I don't know what happened to that option later on.
All my apps is restricted from running on background and app notification is restricted too, Sync is switched off. I wonder what eels remained.. lol
I found option to control Wi-Fi in the Viber application settings (you can see this option on the attached screenshot). May be you using something app like this?
And IMHO restrictions working only for automatic memory clearing if it's not enough for active application, but I could be wrong.

I found out if you want wi fi turning off during sleep do this: Go to settings - > WI-FI -> scroll down -> Advanced Settings -> Keep Wi- Fi on during sleep -> Only when plugged in.
I think this was the setting you were looking for. With this setting my wifi disables every time during sleep and reconnects automatic when i turn the screen on.

It seems to be doesn't work, I've tried it just in few minutes, and changed my display screen time-out for 15-seconds to go to sleep quickly, still it doesn't work after several minutes, so my question is for (How long does the phone consume from time to "enter sleep mode/device WI-FI switched Off") with your phone?

I think it must be in sleep mode at least 5 to 10 minutes. If you just turn off the screen and turn back on, the wifi will not disabled. Test it. Let the phone off for 5-10 minutes to have time to enter sleep mode. If you want to disable the wifi immediately every time you turn off the screen, the only solution is that app.
whenever the phone is just resting on the table, it will randomly just up the lockscreen for a few seconds, then turn back off.
I do not use any auto brightness. anybody else experience this? It usually happens a few minutes after it's been used.
maybe notifications waking screen to remind you. maybe background app forcing screen wake. have you only noticed this after downloading an app . maybe try deleting recent apps and seing if it persists
i have not had this same issue but with same thing ......with auto brightness off..have you noticed while using it the screen dims. gets lighter? etc you can be on internet page and your screen goes much brighter? also sometimes goes dimmer?
i beleif it to be battery optimisation . or that turning off auto brightness doesnt really turn it off. or there is bug in software that does this.

It is quite possible that ambient display is the culprit. Look in display settings and see if it is enabled.
Hello, we understand your concerns about the display and its brightness. Here are some tips to correct your auto-brightness issue.
- Your phone will automatically adjust the screen brightness according to the ambient brightness. Clear the Automatic brightness check box to manually adjust the brightness.
- For sleep mode, the screen will lock automatically after a period of inactivity to reduce power consumption. Select Sleep to adjust the screen-off time or disable the automatic screen lock feature.
If the problem persists, try backing up your device and performing a "master reset". This should help correct any buggy issues you are having with your display. (NS)
You don't receive notification and it lights up randomly, right?!
Disable voice wake-up from Settings. The same thing happened on my P8.
So voice wake-up os begins this, I've never enabled it, I didn't thought about it

Try changing Power Plan to Performance if it is set on Smart.
Sent from my HUAWEI VIE-L29 using XDA Labs
A factory reset should solve the problem, if other solutions don't work
try enabling the power saving mode
Sometimes when I put my 7 Pro (LOCKED) into my pocket, it just turns on again and changes the music title for example or turns on the flashlight. Also, I see the battery is draining because of the random turn ons/turn offs inside the pocket.
Is this a thing for others too?
there should be settings to prevent that. I'm not on stock rom so I don't know but look in display settings

Pocket mode is supposed to prevent this. The oneplus 7 pro DOESN'T have this, unfortunately. Pocket mode used to rely on proximity (and possibly other sensors), but the oneplus 7 pro lacks a proximity sensor.. Hope someone has a workaround at the moment.

You did NOT address the issue. The screen is actually being turned on; not a mere ambient screen being shown. The op7pro lacks a pocket mode for some reason, most likely due to lack of proximity sensor.

Yeah it's been turned on, presumably through the lift to wake feature. I had the same issue with the phone becoming unlocked, making calls, changing my settings, etc. I turned off lift to wake. The screen no longer woke in my pocket giving access to the phone, so no issues since. Loads if threads on here also with the same issue. Also OP see if you have on body detection turned on. If there was another fix I'd obviously state it.
I don't use lift to wake either... work around for now.
