Hey guys,
I just need to know all the options available in HAM7 in order to switch-off the WI-FI whenever I pressed the lock-button or screen is off or phone in sleep mode?
However, Can anyone tells me how long does the phone needs to enter the "sleep mode" if it's screen timeout is set to 15seconds + all apps are protected "restricted" from (Running in background + Push-notification)?
Thanks

Hey Alex,
Thanks for your help, but i think there is already an option in the Huawei Ascend mate 7 phones for doing such thing but i can't really find it, the reason that i don't need to download any (Battery Saving Programs, that the phone is packed with the same utility too! called "Phone Manager") ,, it was working with me, but seems to be i done something (disable something or protect something "Restricting it") from doing it's normal function that i still don't figure it out what is it!
Thanks for your reply, I've tried this app and i wasn't knew what does "Smart WIFI" means until Now, so i would make it my last choice to download this app again, in case if i didn't find a way to manage it within the phone settings.

Unfortunately, I've the same options on "Never (increase data usage)"
But still the wifi is on, that means either the phone doesn't enter into sleep mode after 2-10mins or more or either it's not the option we're looking for!

Yeah, same here, I tested on 'Never' and I have the same result, so don't worry it's not from your phone, probably it's from the firmware I guess.
You can test the Smart Wi fi option from the Smart Battery Saver app to see if it works.

As you can see in the following picture it's my settings, without using the app "Smart Battery Saver" suggested by member in previous comments the device couldn't been able to Switch WIFI automatically, unless I use the app provided.
However, the phone was working properly but I don't know what happened to that option later on.
All my apps is restricted from running on background and app notification is restricted too, Sync is switched off. I wonder what eels remained.. lol
I found option to control Wi-Fi in the Viber application settings (you can see this option on the attached screenshot). May be you using something app like this?
And IMHO restrictions working only for automatic memory clearing if it's not enough for active application, but I could be wrong.

I found out if you want wi fi turning off during sleep do this: Go to settings - > WI-FI -> scroll down -> Advanced Settings -> Keep Wi- Fi on during sleep -> Only when plugged in.
I think this was the setting you were looking for. With this setting my wifi disables every time during sleep and reconnects automatic when i turn the screen on.

It seems to be doesn't work, I've tried it just in few minutes, and changed my display screen time-out for 15-seconds to go to sleep quickly, still it doesn't work after several minutes, so my question is for (How long does the phone consume from time to "enter sleep mode/device WI-FI switched Off") with your phone?

I think it must be in sleep mode at least 5 to 10 minutes. If you just turn off the screen and turn back on, the wifi will not disabled. Test it. Let the phone off for 5-10 minutes to have time to enter sleep mode. If you want to disable the wifi immediately every time you turn off the screen, the only solution is that app.

In the wifi sleep policy, it is possible to set wifi to sleep after screen off. However wifi does not sleep immediately but 15 minutes after screen off. I would like wifi to sleep earlier, say 5 minutes after screen off.
I searched around and found an app capable of doing this. But it is for samsung phones and doesn't work for defy. Does anyone know if and how it can be set manually?
Juicedefender. That is the exact app to use.
I tried Juice Defender. There are options to disable wifi based on connection existence, preset time, data flow etc, but there is no option to set the how long after screen off wifi would sleep.

Hmm I actually set my wifi to never turn off automatically. For instance yesterday I made a phonecall with Skype. My mobile connection is too slow for that so I switched the wifi on. During the phonecall I had the screen turned off but of course the wifi needed to stay on.
I have a widgetsoid widget on my homescreen to enable/disable the wifi. Don't like it when things go automatic and it's just as easy when you need wifi only once in a while.

Thanks! Unfortunately moto doesn't have the settings.db file. I tried putting the mentioned key "wifi_idle_ms" in several other files but no effect.
Edit:
Stupid me. I find the location of settings.db and it works perfectly now
For information, the location of defy's settings.db is:
/data/data/com.android.providers.settings/databases/settings.db

Thanks guys; I can now listen to TuneIn radio as long as I want (or my battery allows me to).
If you intend to save battery, maybe you should consider leave "wireless policy" to "never sleep".
It might sound senseless but there are a lot of people reporting substantial battery savings with this, including me, i noticed at least +20 hours in battery life only with this little thing. Charts drawn with Battery Monitor showed the same consumption, Wireless OFF. vs Wireless policy to never sleep. And the most expensive was policy of sleep when screen turned off.

i cant find the sleep mode settings can u point me towards the same pls
edit : i got it on my phone it says never is that the right setting
Yes in settings>power never is correct. This way maybe it will consume more battery if by night it stays with wi-fi on, to prevent that, go in wi-fi click the "hardware button" menu(i know it's not hardware but always forgot what was called) and then on wi-fi sleep policy, make it to turn of after 15 minutes, it should be like that but check it anyway

the keep wifi on during sleep means it will always keep my wifi on and it will never go to sleep i have it set to " only when plugged in", but my wifi never goes off even when its not plugged in. its always on during night and making the phone never going to sleep. even when i select never setting in there, my wifi never turns off. that means the phone is not going to sleep at all.

Try to investigate problem. There is something what does not allow phone to sleep and wakes up periodically.
What specific apps did you install?
Go to settings / battery and look up for draining apps.
Use alternative apps like gsam battery monitor or similar
Additionally, go to settings / screen lock & passwords / magazine unlock and turn off option "auto update over WiFi"
Is there a Bluetooth device such as a Huawei Band nearby?
Settings -> Display -> Wallpapers
Check "interval" number and change accordingly.
However, screen shouldn't wake up from this.

It's really annoying, everytime I try to download a big file, the screen goes off and cut the network.
I checked a lot on the web, but everybody is talking of wifi. My problem is for 4g/LTE.
Even setting maximum limit for screen off (10 minutes), and touch the screen every 10 minutes. it's endind with a download aborted....
Anybody got any solution?
Thanks
Connect to charger and change settings to never sleeps.

Settings > Developer Options > Keep Mobile Data turned on
If that doesn't work, enable the setting "Stay Awake" at the top, then connect your charger while you download on 4G, the screen will never turn off while charging that way

The 1st solution you gave is not exactly that. It is : keep mobile data on when wifi is active.
On the other hand, the stay awake is charge is a good solution.
Not that I think it's normal to use this kind of thing of trick , but it's working.
Ps: data saver is always off

Yea more of a workaround than a solution but if it works it works
With the Mobile Data always on, if you have WiFi set to stay on while sleeping, then mobile data might also stay on with WiFi, that was my thinking
EDIT -
Check that Google Play Services > Data Usage does not have "Restrict Background Data" enabled too, that can cause this problem
