Brightness widget

Anyone know of a brightness widget that will toggle between "Low" and "High" brightness, but also toggle back to the automatic brightness?
Most of the time i wanna use auto brightness, but when i want to change to high or low/off I dont like to have to go into the settings menu every time to change it.
Most of the widgets ive found have only gone through low, med, high, but no way to go to auto.
Thanks in advance

Check out the Android Power Control widget. It does exactly as you describe - but has the other power options on there too. I use it all the time.

that goes to auto? i tried it and thought it just went off, med, high...guess i'll try again
I just tested it out, and to the best of my knowledge, it seems that it does just do "off" "low" and "high/full" brightness. I tested this by looking in the settings under brightness after each click, and "auto" is never checked, the slider just goes up and down depending on which click its on.
someone please illuminate (no pun intended) this for me if you can...
Thanks

It does exactly what you need:
press once and brightness is off
Press second time and brightness in on auto
press third time and brightness in on highest
But maybe somebody knows if it is possible:
press once brightness in on auto
press second time and brightness is off
I was wrong, in power manager you can set birghtnees eather to auto, low or high!
So gbenj was right.
Thanks.
Anyone know of anything that can toggle to "auto" as well as low/high?

Woah! Dazzle is an amazing widget, thank you so much for sharing this with the community !
It does everything I want it to plus some more, except GPS. If it had GPS it would be the #1 app, until then it can sit at #2
Check out SwitchPro Widget.. does seven icons in a row and lets u toggle all sorts of stuff like Wifi, GPS, Bluetooth, Sync, Airplane mode, Vibrate and of course brightness too. and it does lo, high and auto brightness.. Looks good too with a transparent background option..

CM7 and Touch Key Lights

Is there any way to disable the touch key lights on CM7? I know you can disable them with app or editing the wled file but they will turn back on all the time because CM7 ties the touch key light brightness into the brightness settings. So far its the only thing that is driving me crazy with CM7.

Completely disable, not that I know of.
I know that they reset themselves every time you turn the screen on and off. Out of curiosity, why would you want to turn them off completely? Battery life isn't noticeably better, only on stock because it sets the keys all the way to the highest setting. If you don't have your display set to the highest brightness, you have nothing to worry about with the touch keys.
it is too bright.i like to set auto display

I dont like them on when im playing games andni just dont need them. I know where the buttons are without the lights on.
You should be able to disable the LED touch lights by doing the following:
1. Settings -> Cyanogenmod Settings -> Display -> Automatic Backlight -> Edit Other Levels
2. Click "Edit other levels..."
3. Under "Buttons" set the four values of "255" to "0"
4. Click "Save & apply"
Although under CyanogenMod 7, as soon as you adjust the brightness the LED touch lights will come back on again, though this is fixed by simply turning your screen off and on again.
I have not used CyanogenMod in a while so this is just off hand and could be wrong.
If you set your screen brightness all the way down, that will change the touch key brightness. If you change to automatic brightness it will keep the key brightness but change the display.

As I said, I have not used CyanogenMod in a while. It was a stab in the dark. However I did some searching around and found this little app in the Play Store that you might want to take a look at. Here
It does exactly what you want. I tested it and I was able to turn the lights off completely and you can set it to enable on boot.

I remember this option on stable 7. 1 on the Vibrant, but haven't seen it on any rom on the G2x.
And good job linking to the SAME apps I mentioned. Lmao

No app can fix this. All the apps do is edit the wled which cyan sets on its own every time you turn the screen off or adjust the brightness. Example: You download an app that adjusts key brightness, you use it to adjust brightness and it works. Now you turn the screen off and on, that adjustment you made is now set back to where cyan had it. Same thing if you edit the wled. This is something that needs to be fix deeper down than an app or editing the wled file. Its something that needs to be edited within cyan it self.

[Q] CM10: Low brightness when unlocking Tipo

Hello,
I have this issue with CM10, when i unlock my phone, sometimes the screen is on minimum brightness and really hard to see(especially outside in the sun, this is a major pain in the ass)
I tried to change the brightness settings, no effect(the autobrightness is disabled, i can't turn it on or off.)
I've read somewhere that you need to turn off all the animations in the developer options. I did that, but it doesn't help.
What can i do? is there some file where i can edit the brightness values? I wouldn't mind only being able to use a single brightness level, as long as it's bright enough.
If you have any tips, please share.
Thanks!
I've got the same issue! Any solutions??

[HOW TO] Make your Note 3 screen even brighter for sunlight readability

Are you tired of not being able to read the screen very well when outside under the hot sun? Then you came to the right thread.
Touchwiz Auto Brightness does not need this mod.
However, no brightness functionality in any AOSP ROM is capable of getting as bright as Touchwiz Auto Brightness. Nor can the manual brightness slider of AOSP or Touchwiz.
As I've presented it here, this "app" will enable an extra ~5-10% brightness from your Note 3 4.4.2 and 4.4.4 OLED display in both rooted TouchWiz and AOSP ROM's. If I had to guess, max brightness in manual mode is something like 350'ish nits. And when you enable this mod, it jumps up to something like 600'ish nits?
***While this mod is turned on, you will lose the ability to adjust brightness via the manual-brightness slider. This mod will peg it to the limit of extra brightness until the mod is turned off.
You can leave this extra-brightness mod turned on at all times, but I don't recommend leaving the screen on for more than a minute or two.
DO NOT LEAVE THE SCREEN TURNED ON FOR MORE THAN A MINUTE OR TWO WHEN THE EXTRA-BRIGHTNESS MOD IS ENABLED. IT'LL EVENTUALLY FRY/BURN-IN YOUR OLED DISPLAY IF OVERUSED! I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY OTHER SIDE-EFFECTS THIS MOD MIGHT CAUSE.
To use the mod, please install the attached apk's. Just open in Root Explorer and install.
When you click the app, it will automatically adjust your brightness.
Click the "Sunlight" app and it'll put your OLED screen into stereoids brightness mode. It basically overdrives all the colors so you can see the screen a little better under direct sunlight conditions.
Click the "Automatic" app and it'll put your OLED screen back into regular auto-brightness mode.
Click the "Manual" app and it'll put your phone back into regular manual-brightness mode.
I think I'm going to learn how to get AutoVoice going with Tasker so I can set up a voice activated command that will enable/disable this brightness mod. Because I have a hard time reading my screen (dark themes) under direct Texas sunlight!!!
If you don't want to install an app, then just make a script. This command will enable the extra-brightness:
Code:
echo 6 > /sys/class/backlight/panel/auto_brightness
If a dev out there can figure out how to enable this mod and not lose adjustability of manual-brightness, that would be freakin sweet. :good:
Many thanks go to @hatcyl because it was his thread over in the Note II subforum that got me pointed in the right direction to figuring out how we can do this on our Note 3.
Edit 1/6/2017
I found my old APK's and uploaded them to one zip.
Just unzip to locate the APK's to install:

Great find! But question.....what's the point for a 1-2 minute feature? I have this feature on my OPO and it does it automatically kernel+ROM wise. But on the N3, having to turn it off after 1-2 minute kills the original purpose, does it not?

Well you can leave it turned on all week long if you want. But I wouldn't leave the screen turned on for more than a few minutes at a time. That's why Samsung didn't add this brightness capability to the manual slider. Stuff gets wonky when the screen is overdriven this hard.
AOSP auto-brightness can't get as bright as TouchWiz auto-brightness. Ideally, a dev would add this mod to the AOSP auto-brightness somehow, so AOSP could get as bright as TouchWiz when needed.
For me, I'll have this turned on when I'm walking my dog during the day, or doing random things outdoors. And that'll be just fine, because the screen won't ever be turned on for more than a few seconds at a time.
Very nice mod, just add a feature to turn it off after a minute, great if you add tasker integration.

The APK's were built using Tasker's App Factory.
For Tasker integration, you simply use the "script" option in Tasker.
Let me know if you have any specific Tasker questions. I"m not a pro, more of a beginner. But I'll try to help.
I'd like to figure out a way so Tasker can tap into the light sensor and automatically pop the extra brightness over certain a certain LUX, then turn it off after that LUX number drops.
How did you beat the brightness levels with tasker and do you mean I have to use intents in tasker?

Ahh, no you ignore the brightness level in Tasker. 255 is the highest that's ever going to go and that's OK.
You simply create a new task, name it, then add action, the action will be "script". Then you add the command and check the box to make it run as root.
The command will be:
Code:
echo 6 > /sys/class/backlight/panel/auto_brightness
Then to turn it off, just toggle auto-brightness in the Android Brightness Options.
Or create another Tasker task using the Display action to turn auto-brightness on.
Hope this helps.

Did you run them as Root?
Superuser should prompt you to give Tasker root permissions when you run it. Or it should unless you've already given Tasker root permissions before.
If you're not sure, then open Superuser and see if Tasker is listed as one of hte apps inside it.

Sorry, I don't have any changelog and don't remember the details of this mod.
It's been too long since I made it.
FYI, the developer @flar2 has created a High Brightness Mode widget that far surpasses my original mod.
It is a newer mod and so I don't know how well it works on the Note 3 or if it works at all.
But it works AWESOME on my Google Pixel XL which has the AMOLED display from Samsung.
Here is a link to the widget/mod:

Have you tried turning off Adaptive Display? It's in Settings/Display/Screen Mode. Try any other mode besides adaptive and see if that fixes it.
If your screen still changes brightness on it's own take it in, it's most likely faulty.

HI thank for the reply. I have switched from modes to modes but it happens randomly(perhaps lighting conditions?) I suspect it's settings shown on my screenshot(according to the description) on the first post that may have been toggled on by default? But I have no luck finding that very option in developer's menu. And my power saving and auto brightness are off. Are you able to find the option?
I have had the same issues with my Note3 and Note 5. Mostly when I'm watching fullscreen video. I have to set it to maximum brightness to see outside during the day in Las Vegas because the sun is bright. But if my phone light sensor (right next to the ear speaker) is not in direct sunlight, then it doesn't keep the brightness for video. Your screen shot isn't visible though I went the rounds thinking it was a Hulu bug for a long time before I realized it happens in ask video players and isn't constant.
