So I was prompted for the 6.0 OTA and did it.
So far here are my outstanding issues...
1. Pandora refuses to stream off of WIFI. 4/3/2G none work
2. maps used to only use 10% of my batter in my hour and 20 min commute and not is it nearly 19%
3. GPS will lock then unlock. The icon in the bar will be dark then bright and I get a lock then it goes dark again and then goes away and comes back and repeats. Really sucks
4. my call blocker app used to barely let a call do more than light up the screen and now it answers and hangs for a few second. Sometimes I can hear the stupid recordings.
5. my battery seems to be dieing quicker. on 5.x I could get 5 hours screen on and not I can barely get 3.5 and nothing has changed for my apps.....
All in all I am really thinking of wiping my phone and locking it to Lollipop as the upgrade seems to have major issues.
And this is from three days of use, or lack of a better word...
I haven't had any problems with it. My in-house WiFi seems more responsive with less latency and buffering problems somehow, which has been problematic forever. Love Now on Tap. The biggest difference though is Doze, which has dramatically improved battery life. The only issue I have is all the Xposed modules which aren't Marshmallow friendly.
My only complaint so far, and it's a minor one, is I use the hell out of the 1Weather widget and because of doze it doesn't update unless I force it to. I've read online a few places where it said go into battery and then hit the 3 dots for settings, but our phone (or at least mine) has no settings on battery without rooting for me to turn off doze for specific apps.

Neither have I, so far I've downloaded autostarts and greenify just so these apps can stop running in the background.
Here is one of the articles where it mentions Doze settings
Lost Miracast when I did the update to 6.0. It's nowhere to be found now. Now I can't mirror my phone in the car anymore. Anyone know how to get it back?
Hi, all - I am always interested in maximizing battery life on all my devices. I'm getting pretty respectable battery life on my newly rooted HD8-6G. When my HD8 is off and idle, I am generally seeing about 1% battery drop every 5 days or so. I thought I'd share some of my discoveries, in case y'all are interested.
First, a screenshot to let you guys see what I'm trying to maintain:
See those 0 mA and mA draws in the teens? That's the sign that my tablet is going about as low as possible for current draw.
Note: The app I use for monitoring battery current drain in real time on my Android devices is Battery Monitor Widget. It's the hands-down the best out there for seeing the actual current drain, and has a super-low footprint. I got the paid version, 'cause the developer deserves it. . During the BMW initial setup, be sure to manually set your HD8's battery capacity to 4750 mAh. You can use the default settings for everything else. Also, you can put a BMW widget on your desktop if you use Nova Launcher, and use Link2SD to convert Nova Launcher to a system app.
I also use Wakelock Detector to monitor for wakelocks. Install Wakelock Detector as a system app (available on the menu). Also, be sure to enable "Advanced Mode". I also enable "Statistics since unplug", since that will give me the best information on whether a new tablet mod / app install has adversely affected battery drain with new wakelocks.
I have also installed and run Greenify.
So ... First and foremost, I use my HD8-6G primarily as a reader, and not my main tablet. As such, my tablet is almost always in Airplane Mode (probably over 99% of the time). This may be one of the most important things you can do to keep your battery drain down. While you should definitely enable Settings >> Power >> Automatic Smart Suspend, keep in mind that this does not fully turn off the WiFi when the tablet screen is off. I have found that the HD8 will almost always drain over 100mA per BMW reading if WiFi is enabled with the Auto Smart Suspend enabled. So, remember to manually go into Airplane Mode when you don't need WiFi .
Under Settings >> Wireless >> Location-Based Services, I have all apps "disabled".
Next, here are some Amazon apps that I have disabled without negatively impacting battery drain:
Disable OTA updates:
pm disable com.amazon.otaverifier
pm disable com.amazon.device.software.ota
pm disable com.amazon.settings.systemupdates
(Remember to also rename /system/priv-app/DeviceSoftwareOTA/DeviceSoftwareOTA.apk to something like DeviceSoftwareOTA_.apk_)
Disable Fire Launcher:
pm disable com.amazon.firelauncher
Disable Amazon Game Circle:
pm disable com.amazon.ags.app
Disable Amazon Silk Browser:
pm disable com.amazon.cloud9
pm disable com.amazon.cloud9.kids
Disable Parental Controls:
pm disable com.amazon.parentalcontrols
TESTING (So, drain is TBD)
Will be testing other apps shortly.
Here are a bunch of other supposedly "safe" apps that folks have recommended disabling:
(Legend: Green apps can be pm disabled and then pm enabled to go back to previous battery drain levels. Red apps will always drain your battery after you pm disable them, even if you pm enable them later. See more details below.)
pm disable com.amazon.geo.client.maps
pm disable com.amazon.geo.mapsv2
pm disable com.amazon.geo.mapsv2.services
pm disable com.amazon.webapp
pm disable com.amazon.webview
pm disable com.amazon.dp.contacts
pm disable com.amazon.dp.fbcontacts
pm disable com.amazon.photos
pm disable com.amazon.photos.importer
pm disable com.amazon.kcp.tutorial
pm disable com.amazon.kindle
pm disable com.amazon.kindle.kso
pm disable com.amazon.kor.demo
pm disable com.amazon.tahoe
pm disable com.amazon.unifiedshare.actionchooser
pm disable com.amazon.unifiedsharefacebook
pm disable com.amazon.unifiedsharegoodreads
pm disable com.amazon.unifiedsharesinaweibo
pm disable com.amazon.unifiedsharetwitter
pm disable com.amazon.windowshop
pm disable com.amazon.pm
pm disable com.amazon.recess
pm disable com.amazon.socialplatform
pm disable com.amazon.zico
pm disable com.audible.application.kindle
pm disable com.audible.application.store
pm disable com.goodreads.kindle
pm disable com.amazon.kindle.unifiedSearch
However, I recommend caution before disabling any of these. Just because you can disable some of the above apps and have your HD8 still operate without any visible issue, I have found during my testing that disabling some of these actually increases battery drain, and sometimes irreparably. The battery drain occurs in Airplane Mode, not just when connected to the internet.
And by "irreparably", I mean this: I have found that once you pm disable some apps and battery drain increases, a pm enable on the same apps does not make the battery drain go back to the previous levels. For example, disabling com.amazon.kindle.unifiedSearch increased my battery drain, but reenabling com.amazon.kindle.unifiedSearch did not reduce the battery drain back to what it was before. The only solution I have found for this is sideloading the original v5.3.1.1 image again, and then re-rooting and starting over. But some apps can be pm enabled after seeing a battery drain increase, and the battery drain goes back to the previous levels. For example, com.amazon.webapp and com.amazon.webview increased battery drain when disabled, but the battery drain went back to normal when they were re-enabled.
Lastly (for now): Installing the Google app also creates an irrevocable battery drain. I saw the battery drain go up significantly when I installed the Google app, and that drain didn't completely disappear after I uninstalled the Google app. The drain never dropped below 100 mA after I uninstalled the Google app, even in Airplane Mode.
As a result, I had to re-image and re-root my HD8-6G. Getting pretty handy at that.
I will keep you guys informed on my progress.
Cheers!

Nice work! I'll come back to your post once I have my device rooted (if ever).
Good post, also not rooted but just posting to say I've also seen a huge effect on battery after installing Google apps, I suspected it was Google Play Services but think I'll remove the Google App after reading your post as I rarely use it anyway, plus with the latest 5.3.2 update which brought Alexa, Amazon seems to have removed the ability to long-press on home for Google Now so again little point in keeping it.
Just wish there was an app to individually manage syncing for Google apps, like how it's baked into stock Android.
Great post, thanks a lot.
I'm just wondering, in the list above, if I disable the apps that are in plain text (not red or yellow) is there any affect on the battery?

The answer is ... Maybe, and in some cases ... Probably.
I haven't tested any of the plain text apps yet, and not sure when (or, if) I will get to it. For me, my HD8-6G is working really zippy now with very low current drain (charging once every 2 weeks). I got rid of most of the Amazon-centric functionality so that the HD8 operates very closely to a standard Android tablet.
Since the other plain text Amazon apps above aren't burning CPU or slowing down my HD8 at all, the cost/benefit of disabling more of those apps is pretty poor - I will certainly have to manually reimage my HD8 a few more times if I want to experiment more. It's a shame that we don't have full Nandroid backup capability for the HD8-6G, or I would be experimenting a bit more.

Just awesome to see all your trial and error here so a fainted heart like me can pull the trigger. I myself refused to sign in with Amazon and rooted to block update and use another launcher and apps from PlayStore instead scaring they are pushing the update without my consent. But I do love the Kindle Reader, is there a way to replace it from PlayStore?
Any One Find Any Way To Increase Performance On EMUI 4.0 Find A Lot Of Lag Here :crying:
various reason for lags
for improving performance, disable all the apps that you dont require. there might be various reasons for lag; a certain app working in background, using power saving mode when battery is less than 50% (that causes lag, kind of cliche here), using apps that access gps and location service. it all depends on what kind of lag are you suffering and since when you started suffering lags.
for making phone seem faster, you can also try this as well;
1. go to about phone, tap build number until phone says you can access developer mode
2. go to developer settings in settings menu, and reduce the settings of animaiton and transiton from 1x to 0.5 x
hope that helps

Hello everyone,
I received my OnePlus 6 today and I am very happy. It's the 6/64 model. I come from a Galaxy S7 Edge and a Galaxy A3 2017.
Here are my thoughts about it:
- Build quality is exemplary, I played with Huawei Mate 10 Pro and P20 and the OP6 is way better built, very close if not identical quality to Samsung's best phones. For me, a phone needs to look "professional", not plasticky or gimmicky. This one delivers !
- The case that comes with the phone is very high quality, I am amazed. It's not a simple case, it has many interesting features: sides are matte finished and provide high grip, it has raised corners, the corner protection is exemplary. Plus, it fits like a glove. Don't waste your money on another case until you try the stock one (I unfortunately did - I have the Nylon Bumper case on the way).
- Screen is gorgeous and perfectly calibrated, I have a Surface Pro 4 and a Surface Pro 5 (perfectly calibrated screens) and the calibration of the OP6 is almost identical. Colors are exactly as they should be, whites are perfectly balanced. And I love notched screens, I want as little bezel as possible, really no complaints !
- The speed of the phone is incredible, I have never used a phone so fast, much faster than the S8 and S9 that I have used for a few minutes. Web browsing speed is in another league compared to everything I used before.
- It came charged at 50%, and I got 3h of SOT and 9h of total usage from the factory 50% charge (with app installations, updates, a lot of web browsing, 1 hour of music playing to bluetooth headset, etc.)
- Pictures in low light are way over my expectations, on par with the S7 Edge (which has a great camera setup).
- Software is really great, light and customizable.
- The double-tap to wake is a great feature and very reliable.
- Everything works as expected, no quirks. At this price, I was expecting something to be really off, but no, everything is great !
- I have never used a SD card (ok, used once), wireless charging, and always protected my phone from water, so I consider the lack of those features a non-issue for me.
Now for the less good parts:
- (Biggest issue if you come from Samsung or LG phones): Always-On display is missing and this is a significant issue (although it was present in the firmware before the updates, hopefully they bring it back !), I also like the LED notifications even more especially with the Light Flow app, but the problem is that this phone's LED is a little dim and small. However, it does the job.
- Phone is a little bigger than I would like, but really, it's nitpicking, it fits very well in my front pocket and I am already used to it
- Rear-placed fingerprint sensor makes it unusable for me, basically I will never use it, I can't use it in the car, I can't use it when the phone is on the table
- Face unlock is incredibly fast, but it doesn't work at an angle, when the phone is on the table and you glance at it, you can't use it when the phone is on the table.
- Your best bet for unlocking this phone reliably in the car or on the table is to wear a smartwatch and enable Smart Lock (I have a Pebble 2 - great smartwatch that wipes the floor with any Wear OS watch - think always-on screen and 8 days of battery life and great notification management - enough said).
- If you enable gestures instead of buttons (gestures are incredibly easy and intuitive on the OP6) you can't double tap to lock screen...that's a big issue for me, I don't want to press the power button a lot for durability reasons. For now I have left the navigation buttons in place (double tap home will lock the screen) but I hope a solution will be provided eventually. EDIT: a very recent OnePlus Launcher release just added "double-tap anywhere on the home screen to lock", so you can count this issue out
- The bottom-firing speaker is not ideal, many times I used the phone in portrait mode in bed and I cover the speaker with my finger. Samsung has a smarter placement on the side. Of course, dual front speakers would be nice but I don't use the speakers a lot and I much prefer the small bezels instead.
Conclusion: all in all, I consider the OnePlus 6 the most "balanced" flagship of the current generation of flagships. For me, aside from the lack of AOD (which will hopefully be reintroduced), it has almost no flaws. And the price is just...fair to the customer, most of the others have ripoff prices for phones that are missing critical features like decent battery life, for example.
This was my quick review.
Thanks !

My problem was about double-tap to lock/sleep (I assume DT2W = double tap to wake), since there were no buttons you couldn't double-tap on the home button to lock. However, a very recent update to the OnePlus launcher just enabled double-tap anywhere on the home screen to lock, so my problem is solved. For those interested, the setting is in the launcher settings (long-press on home screen), not in the regular settings. So I can now use gestures !
Here are my first battery drain stats. Things look very good until now, with 4h SOT and 16h total stand-by and still 55% left. This is on the very first charge of the phone ! Very surprising to me. My usage consists of mostly web browsing, email, some music and some occasional video, I don't play games and I don't have any social media apps installed (I use Facebook from the browser when needed).

with the following tools you can easily and cross device implement the features you're missing:
a) double tab to sleep works with a shortcut and an single tap icon on home screen and/or implemented into either swapps and/or LMT
. further nova launcher as well as the launcher you already mentioned have gestures to lock the screen, hence no problem to get that.
b) always on display can be had with a combo of screensaver clock plus (or another less nice watch LOL) and "auto screen saver" all in playstore.
need more info, simply send pm cause i won't follow this thread further, just came here once to hear what others think and found out.

Double-tap to lock screen is an incredibly useful gesture but it requires deep OS support for proper functioning.
Any application-level double-tap to lock screen results in requiring the PIN when unlocking next time (try it...). This is a stupid Google "security" issue, present since Android 7 if I'm not mistaken.
Some launchers like Nova and Microsoft Launcher (also mentioned by you) use a hack and do not actually lock the screen on double-tap but make it black and set the screen timeout to a low value like 5 seconds. However, this approach is also bad, because if you put it in a pocket or touch the screen immediately after you "lock" the screen, the phone will unlock immediately because it was not yet really locked.
So "real" double-tap to lock is a plus for OnePlus, and I'm glad it's properly implemented ! Until now I have only seen it properly implemented in LG phones.
image/Scenario: AOD is on a schedule 0700-2100. Go to bed after 2100, stick the phone on the wireless charger. There's a short wireless charging animation which then switches to 2 lines of text near the bottom of the screen showing battery image and charge level. The AOD is off so why is this shown? Leaving the phone on the charger all night this could lead to screen burn.
Is there anyway to turn this battery charging status off? I spent a good 20 minutes last night looking through everything to turn it off.... nothing obvious.

I noticed this as well. I flipped my phone screen down for a few minutes and when I flipped it back side up, I saw the indicator come back on so I think it goes off when the screen is down. Should go off when the screen is facing up too, though. Annoying.
Yes. I actually googled this a few days ago. Maddening.

Ran into the same issue. Turns out it's the always on display. Turning it off in the settings wont work the only way to do it is disabling it entirely. The only way I found do it is disabling the app with adb or buying package disabler pro online and disabling it with that app.

I’m not hacking my phone to fix this i bought packaage disable pro from App Store and it i find and and it says i cant disable it.
Seems some Samsung users used to complaint that they cannot see the % when they are charging. That's why Samsung add this notice compulsorily on note10 when the phone is charging. **** that users.
I've taken the route to fully disable the AOD service. It's disappointing that I have to disable it completely just for one little thing like that, but I've experienced OLED burn-in on a previous Galaxy S9, and it happens way too fast with static images that can sit there for 6+ hours straight.
I'm assuming that since there is no separate notification light outside of the OLED display now, Samsung thinks that's an appropriate compromise.
If anyone can figure out how to schedule disabling AOD during specific time periods, that help

You can use Bixby Routines for that.
Edit: That's just to disable it in settings, so it will not help...
Potential fix - Pls try
It's the most expensive phone and turns out that it will be trash in no time.
Guys, the green icon that shows up on battery full will cause more drastic burns as that is a brighter color. Samsung totally f uped the note this time.
Potential fix
Can someone try installing an older version of AOD? The note 9 or 8 version? This new version can be Uninstalled using package disabler.
I think that may help. Pls can someone try and share the feedback?
Disable charging text
Hi.i figured out a work around for this problem.first you need to create and name a folder in either internal storage or on your sd card.then put a fullscreen black wallpaper in this folder and nothing else.when done go to settings, select display, scroll down to screensaver, turn on and select photo frame, click the cog icon, find your pre named folder and select it.exit out and now when charging your note10 the screensaver will show the black wallpaper instead of the charging text.

The trick is to let the screen timeout on it's own then this seems to be working.
Thanks for posting. This is a much better work around than just disabling AOD with a package disabler.

I also just tried manually turning off the screen and then I double tapped so my lock screen showed up and when that timed out (much quicker) it was also pure black.
I tried this trick, but when I tap the screen it goes straight to lockscreen and not aod. Is it supposed to be that way?

This works perfect!! Thank you!
I recommend just downloading this wallpaper:
https://images.app.goo.gl/dnsSgUx7tj9n8E1g8
It is a true black wallpaper. I previewed the screensaver with this wallpaper in a pitch black room, and there's not even a hint of light coming from my screen with it. Looks like the phone is shut off completely.
Another option is to just turn on "colors" screensaver. Benefit is with the moving/changing colors, it refreshes the pixels. Downside is it might light up your room at night.
Here's the ironic thing: if you plug in your phone and go to the lock screen, the same charging status is displayed. BUT it flashes on and off every few seconds! Like Samsung knew it might cause burn in on the lock screen, but didn't think about it on AOD.
Which leads me to wonder: is the AOD bright enough to cause burn in? I'd be curious to see reviews from users 6 months from now who charge overnight and see if they have charge state burn in.
By the way, I used GoodLock to get rid of my status bar. On previius models, it auto hid on the browser, but not on the Note 10+. I don't want it to burn in either.
This is a no go for me. Using this method, prevents the phone going into deep sleep...

You would be only using this while charging so what does it matter if the phone goes into deep sleep or not?
