Are you stock? If so you will be notified when there is an update. If you unlocked search the firmware thread for the correct you have.
No I'm rooted but as I know different baseband with same version of stock ROM looks like have better battery life results so I want baseband from Poland branded baseband. But can't find it anywhere
Baseband = radio [that's old named]

Thanks, but which one of the settings is the radio? I'm not seeing anything with an MR1, MR2 or MR2.5.

Radio is the Baseband version.
You would have to check other posts to see which numbers correspond with which baseband version.
That was released this month with the US update. And another question is I have the 3.32 firmware from Korahs thread installed and it says Tmobile. But how was it available to me earlier than the one that was just released a weak ago. Are they the same one? Because I remember installing cm9 back then and it said I needed ics firmware and since Tmobile didn't have it out then which firmware did I install?

Hello when looking at the minimum requirements for the OTA I saw that my software version on my phone is older then the needed to get the upgrade. So far no OTA notification and manual check fails every time. Any help on what I should do?

Root it and enjoy. There's an HTC One X thread about routing without unlocking the boatloader, but it doesn't work on the latest ota update.

I don't know what software version you have, doesn't match any of these. I would take it to a TMO store and say WTF?
It's just super weird. I never altered the software or anything. It just came like this which messes with my ability to update.

Don't even try to touch the new update!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just received a replacement phone with this software and haven't been able to update either I will take back to T-Mobile and ask wth

The replacement phones, and very few initially shipped phones come with 0.15 baseband.
Those devices won't update to the new OTA. You have to first find the TMOUSS RUU for 0.16 in the development section and run it. Then when your baseband is updated to 0.16 you will be able to update to the new OTA.
edit - at least this is what happened with me. maybe it works on someone else's.

What software number does your phone say it is on? If it has the R2 in it I don't think you'll be able to get the update. It's different than stock. Stock doesn't have the R2 in it.

Here is what you need to do To get a working TMOUS OTA, make sure you have CWM, wipe cache-partition-dalvik-battery...
Install the Radio from OTA_Ville_U_TMOUS_1.84.531.2 from here...
http://ville.giev.de/?page_id=42
then install the new Nandroid of Stock TMOUS 1.84 Rooted from here...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1698861
that should do it and fixed data connection and speed on my HTC ONE S below is a prove...
I've searching around the forums and I don't really catch how the radio and baseband works, so I have a few noob questions about it.
What is the difference between the radio and the baseband? Is the radio a part of the baseband?
Flashing a new rom changes the baseband?
Is there a "best" baseband, or it depends on the rom or the zone? If it depends on the rom or zone, why?
It's RIL important? Does it come from the rom, the baseband or the phone?
Thanks in advance!

Radio and baseband are used synonymously.
Flashing a new rom will not change the baseband. Flashing an ruu will.
Best baseband depends on location, carrier, etc. Doesn't really depend on rom.
Not sure about ril but I don't think it is important.

This may help--

And this--

Regular
The baseband is the firmware for the radio chip. This firmware is interfaced by the OS using the RIL (Radio Interface Layer), so the RIL translates the requests by the OS to commands the baseband can understand.
When you flash the baseband you change the firmware for the chip. For everything to work, you need the matching RIL in your ROM, either it comes with the ROM, or you have to flash it yourself. If RIL and baseband don't match, malfunctions such as missing signal etc can occur.
Thanks a lot for your answers! So, what baseband are you using? The latest one?

Root and s-off your device and update via custom Rom, I think it's not possible to update Verizon m8 when u are not on Verizon service. That's what I feel, but maybe someone else can confirm.
Sent from my HTC6525LVW using XDA Free mobile app
There's some zips around here that can be flashed that have the latest firmware and such that you can flash once you are s-off. I'm sure when Verizon releases a new firmware a custom zip will be released here as well. I don't believe that flashing a custom ROM will automatically get you to the new firmware. It may be based on the newest, but it won't change any of your software, that will have to be updated by yourself.
