Lost mobile data on Google Fi after Rooting - Google Pixel 2 Questions & Answers

Hello Team,
I just completed rooting my Pixel2 with Magisk and found that everything works less my mobile data connection. I can't seem to get it working thus not being able to make phone calls. I'm on a sim-less plan so it should just work.
This has me completely stumped and don't know what to do next,
How can I force mobile data back on? Is there something that needs to be hidden from root with Magisk?
I have verified that I'm missing "Fi Network" under Network & Internet/Data Usage/mobile/mobile network/Carrier
Thanks

[Q] Disable mobile data on SM-T217S tablet

I have obtained my ex-gf Sprint Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 Sprint sm-t217s tablet. We broke up and she took quite a bit of my stuff, but she left her tablet at my place about a month ago. It is activated and I want to disable all mobile data and use it with wifi only. I have it rooted, CW recovery and a stock Odexed rom installed. I have the 4G Sim Card removed. What files do I need to remove to disable anything from connecting to the mobile network? I don't want her or her parents to locate me at my new apartment or know that it is being used.
I have Airplane mode on now, but a few times I turned it on, it was off and connected to 3G and I could access data that way, I just didn't want it to be known that I have this device.
Can anyone help me with the files to remove with Root Explorer that will ultimately make this a wifi connecting only device?
how to diasable network
you can go to another location. turn on tab. then disable mobile data in settings, more settings, mobile network, then uncheck mobile data. then disable gps and wifi locations in settings, location services.finally to reactivate it in your name just follow my guide on (flashing to another carrier). i use metroPCS but its your choice. just dont use sprint. hope this helps you and your ex move on lol

[Completed] Lost WiFi tethering capability...how to get it back?

For starters, I have a Kyocera C6750 Hydro Elite. Got the phone in September of 2013 because it was small and had somewhat decent specs at the time. Anyhow, I rooted the official ROM with Framaroot. Root Checker confirms this. Running Android 4.1.2 and never upgraded due to the fuzzy details on loss of some root features. Up until last night I had been using an app called "Portable Wifi hotspot". Had no issues with the app working the way I wanted to and often would eat up 60+GB of data each month. So on to last night...
I was in the middle of playing a game on my tablet when all of a sudden my WiFi connection dropped. Went to look at my phone and it was randomly rebooting. Weird. So it reboots and I tap on my hotspot app and it gives me the same message that it has activated. But this time, I'm missing an icon on the taskbar at the top of the screen that shows how many devices are connected to hotspot. I go to my tablet and search for the WiFi connection multiple times...no dice. I go to the mobile hotspot section in the Android settings and notice " mobile hotspot" is unchecked (never had been before). When I tap to engage it, it says that I do not have a mobile hotspot subscription and that I need to subscribe either via My Verizon or calling a Verizon rep. Now I'm getting concerned. So then I install FoxFi. I turn on the WiFi hotspot and it goes through the process as normal and confirms it is on. I verify in Android settings that mobile hotspot is engaged. I then try to find the connection on my tablet ( I even reboot the tablet just to make sure)....NOTHING! I have officially lost WiFi hotspot functionality on my rooted device as of last night. Can anyone else confirm the same? Did Verizon force a remote reboot of my phone? WTF is going on? Has Verizon flagged my SIM/account as high data usage and figured out how to block all WiFi hotspot apps? Is there any way to get it back for free or will I now have to fork over the extra $30/mo to add the mobile hotspot feature for unlimited data plans? Please advise.

Unable to activate Wifi calling on rooted carrier unlocked Pixel 2 on Verizon Network

Hello,
I have a carrier unlocked Pixel 2 walleye that is rooted (magisk, no custom recovery) and on Verizon
android version 8.1.0
build #OPM1.171019.021
when I try to activate wifi calling, i get the spinning circle for a long time, and then it finally says "unable to activate wi-fi calling. please try again later"
I have HD voice activated on my verizon wireless account.
I tried the VoEnabler module in Magisk
Wifi calling is turned on in the phone info screen (*#*#4636#*#*)
The only thing i guess i haven't tried is installing a Verizon ROM instead of the stock Google ROM.
Before I went that route, I wanted to check here and see if anyone else was able to get it to work for them.
Thanks in advance.
ok so i had this issue twice on the same phone and i am rooted as well. i think the only way to get it to work is to disable root, activate wifi calling, then reactivate root.
I have enabled this feature while rooted on 2 different PIxel 2's.
This sounds silly but turn off wifi and try to activate it. I've been unable to input my address during the activation process multiple times unless I am on cellular.
thanks for the suggestions everyone. with wifi turned off, it still won't work. I'll try the unroot path next time there is a new system update. It's not a critical need at the moment, but it is rather annoying that i can't activate it.

I don't think your problem is related to root unless it's a Magisk module of some kind that's the problem. I'm on Verizon, rooted with Magisk. I haven't had wireless calling turned on but after seeing your post I thought I'd check and see if it works on mine. It connected without any problems for me.
Did you ever figure this out?

I'm having a similar issue, except that I can enable wifi calling but always get the "Turn off airplane mode or connect to a wireless network" message when attempting to place a wifi call. Everything with regard to wifi calling is set up correctly. I thought I had this narrowed down to Oreo version and patch level, but I honestly can't come up with a repeatable scenario that breaks it. About all I can say for sure is it seems like when I flash back to bone stock, OPM1.171019.021, wifi calling works as expected. However, it seems to break after a while, even without applying any updates. My gut says it's related to root, but I've also seen it work with root. I also have a suspicion it has something to do with the type of authentication on the wifi network, as the first time I ever saw wifi calling work was when I connected to an open SSID. The problem is, right after that, it worked fine on a WPA2 network on which it never worked before. This is on Verizon with a Pixel 2 from the Google Store. I have a hard time believing it's a Verizon issue, though. It's more like the phone does a check for wifi connectivity and returns "false" for some reason.
*** I should add all my testing has been done by turning on airplane mode (thus disabling LTE/3G) and then enabling wifi. My office at work has horrendous cell coverage, but I haven't gotten it down to zero bars without airplane mode to see if it works then.

Mobile network internet access stopped working

Yesterday was like any other day, I took the bus to work and enabled mobile hotspot on my Oneplus 6 so I could do some work. On my way home in the afternoon, I did the same thing. This time however, I had exclemation marks on the mobile network symbol in the statusbar. Tried enabling hotspot anyway but there was network. Rebooted the phone but still the same issue. Oh well, I thought it was just my carrier then. When I came home to my wifi, I checked my carriers status information on their websites and there was no disturbances. Then I restored a backup which failed and I had to reflash the phone entirely with the latest pie zip. Today, I still don't have any network on my sims. I use two sims but they are using the same carrier. I also asked around my friends which has the same carrier and they have network...
I would understand if something might have happened when I reflashed the phone last night but that does not explain the sudden malfunction of the network on my bus ride home, the phone had worked flawlessly for a whole week.
This thread seem to be about the same thing and I tried the solutions regarding clearing caches and settings but it did not work:
https://forums.oneplus.com/threads/...ot-working-but-network-bars-are-there.844978/
Could it be something with the IMEI number? But it doesn't explain why it stopped working out of the blue. I can see both my IMEI numbers in the settings and I have also tried install Magisk 17.2 beta as suggested by another user. I think I still have a backup of the modem on my pc. However this is from when the network still worked and then suddenly stopped working.
TLDR: I have full reception, Calls and SMS work, there is just no Internet connection.

Yep, that is off. I have also reset my APN setting and double checked them with my provider, it didn't help.
No hotspot
I'm having a similar issue, I updated to android p stable and since then I can't use hotspot. It turns on fine and says devices connected but internet doesn't work on the connected devices. This seems to be an issue with Android P because my gf also has the op6 and I tried hotspot on hers before updating and it worked fine, then updated and it stopped working for her too. I have also tried clearing cache and manually entering the APN. I need to be able to tether to my laptop and tablet for work so anyone solution to this problem would be highly appreciated.
Thanks.

Although the problem I decribed in this thread isn't the hotspot problem, it was caused by my carrier. But I also have issues with hotspot, my laptop has trouble finding the wifi from the phone.

No mobile data connection

Hi All,
my Moto g7 power is unlocked and has LOS18 (lineage-18.1-20210814-nightly-ocean) installed.
I am seeing the following behavior for some time now:
The mobile data connection of my phone works fine and the LOS-Toolbar is also showing the correct icon for the available data connection.
When turning the mobile data connection off and after some time back on again the mobile data connection works and is available.
(The mobile access to the internet is actually available and most apps are working fine)
But the toolbar-icon is still showing the little "x" which would mean that no data connection is available, or at least the OS somehow thinks that no connection is available.
Additionally some apps are not working properly since they rely on the OS info if a data/internet connection is available or not.
So these apps simply say "no internet connection", and don't work.
I can just fix this problem by doing a restart of the phone.
Maybe somethings going wrong with the captive-portal check of LOS or sth similar, I don't know.
Is anyone else maybe experiencing this issue?
Would be great to get some help here.
Thanks in advance!
Cheers
