[Q] Disable mobile data on SM-T217S tablet - General Questions and Answers

I have obtained my ex-gf Sprint Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 Sprint sm-t217s tablet. We broke up and she took quite a bit of my stuff, but she left her tablet at my place about a month ago. It is activated and I want to disable all mobile data and use it with wifi only. I have it rooted, CW recovery and a stock Odexed rom installed. I have the 4G Sim Card removed. What files do I need to remove to disable anything from connecting to the mobile network? I don't want her or her parents to locate me at my new apartment or know that it is being used.
I have Airplane mode on now, but a few times I turned it on, it was off and connected to 3G and I could access data that way, I just didn't want it to be known that I have this device.
Can anyone help me with the files to remove with Root Explorer that will ultimately make this a wifi connecting only device?

how to diasable network
you can go to another location. turn on tab. then disable mobile data in settings, more settings, mobile network, then uncheck mobile data. then disable gps and wifi locations in settings, location services.finally to reactivate it in your name just follow my guide on (flashing to another carrier). i use metroPCS but its your choice. just dont use sprint. hope this helps you and your ex move on lol

data Usage

Hello all,
I am new user of a brand new mozart windows phone 7, and i am almost very happy about it, Apart from one thing which i am trying to sort out however knowone at HTC seems to be able to assist me.
I have wifi turned on 24/7 however my phone still user data usage via GPRS for soem reason... if there any way of making the mozart use wifi and the primary connection.
Any help would be appreciated
I don't know, but maybe location services might still need to use your data connection. You can turn your data connection off though - settings > mobile network > data connection "off"

WiFi turns off in standby mode. Reconnects when you wake it up. So checking email will use data. Only way to avoid it is to turn off data in settings and not have push notifications
Sent from my T8788 using XDA Windows Phone 7 App
for HD7 you need to ON your 3G and Data Connection but you can choose whether you want to roam or don't roam.

You try to disable your 3g and data roaming when there's a wifi.

[Q] Android 'Forgotten' Networks Connect Anyway - Force Remove?

Using Samsung Galaxy S2 Android v2.3.4 rooted.
A while back I had access to BT Openzone so my phone would happily connect to the various access points around London for data usage. I no longer pay for the service however so told my phone to 'forget' said network. In fact I have told it endless times now, but for whatever reason the phone insists on connecting, even though now since I do not have the service as soon as it does it then loses data access.
Is there any way to more forcefully/directly remove this saved network? A file I can edit somewhere perhaps?

if you are running a stock rom, you could execute an hard reset of your phone, by doing this, you will lose ALL your settings.
Or....you could wipe everything and install a custom rom, perhaps an updated version?

Official ICS Atrix 2 4G/Internet Issue

I just updated my Atrix 2 to the official OTA ICS 4.0.4 and after it took all day for my system to catch up with the new OS, My data is not working. No internet connective, UNless I'm on wifi. I have never had a problem before until I updated. I use Easy Batter Saver (app) and I reset the mobile network. That didn't work. I tried enabling data through the settings. That DID NOT WORK. I went to the settings --> about phone --> status and the only irregularities I noticed were
Mobile Network State- Disconnected
Sim ID- Not Available
- idk how to take the screenshot.
Any Ideas?
--- Found the answer!
It took a while to figure it out but this was the answer if anyone else is having the problem, It seems that the APN were deleted and the one that remained on mine after the update did not work for data connectivity. This is it. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1576199
I used the ATT phone and it worked fine and if you cannot receive MMS make sure to use both of them.
ALSO heres another link for more APNs

[Completed] Lost WiFi tethering capability...how to get it back?

For starters, I have a Kyocera C6750 Hydro Elite. Got the phone in September of 2013 because it was small and had somewhat decent specs at the time. Anyhow, I rooted the official ROM with Framaroot. Root Checker confirms this. Running Android 4.1.2 and never upgraded due to the fuzzy details on loss of some root features. Up until last night I had been using an app called "Portable Wifi hotspot". Had no issues with the app working the way I wanted to and often would eat up 60+GB of data each month. So on to last night...
I was in the middle of playing a game on my tablet when all of a sudden my WiFi connection dropped. Went to look at my phone and it was randomly rebooting. Weird. So it reboots and I tap on my hotspot app and it gives me the same message that it has activated. But this time, I'm missing an icon on the taskbar at the top of the screen that shows how many devices are connected to hotspot. I go to my tablet and search for the WiFi connection multiple times...no dice. I go to the mobile hotspot section in the Android settings and notice " mobile hotspot" is unchecked (never had been before). When I tap to engage it, it says that I do not have a mobile hotspot subscription and that I need to subscribe either via My Verizon or calling a Verizon rep. Now I'm getting concerned. So then I install FoxFi. I turn on the WiFi hotspot and it goes through the process as normal and confirms it is on. I verify in Android settings that mobile hotspot is engaged. I then try to find the connection on my tablet ( I even reboot the tablet just to make sure)....NOTHING! I have officially lost WiFi hotspot functionality on my rooted device as of last night. Can anyone else confirm the same? Did Verizon force a remote reboot of my phone? WTF is going on? Has Verizon flagged my SIM/account as high data usage and figured out how to block all WiFi hotspot apps? Is there any way to get it back for free or will I now have to fork over the extra $30/mo to add the mobile hotspot feature for unlimited data plans? Please advise.

Can I get my device to auto-connect to WiFi without internet?

Hi everyone,
I own a Nexus 5 and I am running stock firmware, Android 6.0 MRA58K, unrooted and bootloader locked. I use this device at work and frequently connect to a WiFi LAN that has no internet connection (by design -- I use it to talk to other devices on the network). In older software versions (I believe back in the KitKat days if I recall), I could simply turn on the WiFi slider on my phone, and it would automatically connect to the network, and I could immediately start talking to the devices I need to (this was excellent!). Then when Lollipop first rolled around, it would still connect to the network automatically, but it would realize that there's no internet connection, so it would then prioritize the Cellular Data network, preventing me from communicating with my network devices. So I had to do an extra step by disabling my data connection, then things would work properly again. (Of course, this also meant that when I wanted to jump off the Wi-Fi, I would need to re-enable Cellular Data.)
Nowadays, Android seems to remember that my WiFi network doesn't have an internet connection, so it never joins it by default (very frustrating!). So every time I want to jump on the network, I need to turn on WiFi, then manually select the network to join, then go into the Data section and disable cellular Data, and then things would be working fine. Of course, if I ever walked away from the Wi-Fi range and then came back, I would again need to manually select the network.
And now with this lastest Marshmallow update, a new Notification pops up every time I join the Network that says:
"Wi-Fi has no Internet Access. Touch for options." When touched it says, "This network has no Internet access. Stay connected? Yes/No" There's also a checkbox that says, "Don't ask again for this network". Every time I check that box, and say YES to stay connected. And yet each and every time I connect to the network, this notification appears again! (The checkbox seems to do nothing). I've looked at the Advanced options in the Wi-Fi settings, and nothing there seems to help.
So my question is, is there a way for me to go back to the "good 'ole days", where I can get my phone to automatically join this WiFi network, and still prioritize it over cellular data?
If need be, I'm perfectly fine with rooting/unlocking my phone, if I need to install some custom firmware or whatever.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions you might have!
-Tom
