For starters, I have a Kyocera C6750 Hydro Elite. Got the phone in September of 2013 because it was small and had somewhat decent specs at the time. Anyhow, I rooted the official ROM with Framaroot. Root Checker confirms this. Running Android 4.1.2 and never upgraded due to the fuzzy details on loss of some root features. Up until last night I had been using an app called "Portable Wifi hotspot". Had no issues with the app working the way I wanted to and often would eat up 60+GB of data each month. So on to last night...
I was in the middle of playing a game on my tablet when all of a sudden my WiFi connection dropped. Went to look at my phone and it was randomly rebooting. Weird. So it reboots and I tap on my hotspot app and it gives me the same message that it has activated. But this time, I'm missing an icon on the taskbar at the top of the screen that shows how many devices are connected to hotspot. I go to my tablet and search for the WiFi connection multiple times...no dice. I go to the mobile hotspot section in the Android settings and notice " mobile hotspot" is unchecked (never had been before). When I tap to engage it, it says that I do not have a mobile hotspot subscription and that I need to subscribe either via My Verizon or calling a Verizon rep. Now I'm getting concerned. So then I install FoxFi. I turn on the WiFi hotspot and it goes through the process as normal and confirms it is on. I verify in Android settings that mobile hotspot is engaged. I then try to find the connection on my tablet ( I even reboot the tablet just to make sure)....NOTHING! I have officially lost WiFi hotspot functionality on my rooted device as of last night. Can anyone else confirm the same? Did Verizon force a remote reboot of my phone? WTF is going on? Has Verizon flagged my SIM/account as high data usage and figured out how to block all WiFi hotspot apps? Is there any way to get it back for free or will I now have to fork over the extra $30/mo to add the mobile hotspot feature for unlimited data plans? Please advise.

Hi, thanks for using XDA assist!
First, please create an account so you can post in other forums.
There's not too much information on XDA about your device.
After creating your account, please ask your question here:

I am having a problem as well. It will work for about a min with barnicle and with the stock tethering then i just lose internet conection on my laptop says the device is still conected and still have the h+ on my device.
I did recive the blocked or terminated conection on barnicle i rebotted phone it worked for the min then same thing lost conections. turned barnicle off then back on when it started i recived the blocked or terminated connection as well.
Yay! Tethering is working on my phone......only issue is that the radio stays on even after tethering is disabled, but I was at least able to setup WEP security.
How did you manage to get it to work? I have barnacle up and running and see the wifi on my laptop and can connect to it. Only problem is, that I cannot access internet. I don't get any error messages or anything. It just seems to be a local connection and not routed through.
Any thoughts on that?
Thank you very much!
I used the wifi tether version
I had to adjust the settings a bit to get it working properly and to enable WEP security, but I have used this in my shop for over a week now flawlessly.
I added an advanced a task killer to remedy the problem I was having with it broadcasting when tethering was stopped.
The only issue now is that with the settings I am using, tethering starts with errors in the channel config. This doesn't seem to be effecting functionality at all....it just means that I am most likely locked into the default wireless channel.
Hope this helps someone. Thanks to everyone for their continued efforts!
Sorry for the individual posts, but you have to have 8 before you can post an outside link. Assuming that it works, my next post will include the link plus the prior messages in one post so that it makes more sense.
I used the wifi tether version that I downloaded here:

Hi folks
I get this notification frequently when I wake my new Shield LTE tablet up. It comes from the ATT mobile all access application. Interestingly I have never even once activated the ATT mobile hotspot. So it is shocking that it has turned off...
It started after I configured the native Android hot spot. I turned it on and checked that my laptop could connect via WiFi and access the internet. Then I turned off the hotspot (again, natively in Android not through the AT&T app)
.
Any idea how to get the notification to stop short of uninstalling the kinda convenient ATT app? I like it for monitoring usage of the data plan.

Hi guys. A couple of days ago, I unlocked my Samsung S5 Active (originally from AT&T) and connected it to Metro PCS. Everything went smooth and great . I have the "UNLIMITED", as they say, data plan. I take advantage of the HUGE 5 gigs of blazing speed through hotspot they give with it whenever I have the chance.
Now, 2 days after I connected my phone with the new network, the only glitch that I have encounter so far (besides wanting to delete all AT&T system apps, but can't without root) is that my hotspot from one minute to the other stopped communication with the world. It was working like a champ today, connected to multiple devices (nothing big, just driving around playing Pokémon. The devices connected were extra cellphones with no mobile data). It happened soon after me attempting to sync my Samsung to my cars bluetooth during a phone call. After syncing my Samsung, I activated the Smart Lock in my phone to my car, with all of this happening while the hotspot was on. I'm assuming, that somehow it's connected to the problem? Idk...I've tried googling about similar problems but have come up empty. I checked and rechecked my APN settings, everything is working great. Paired my Bluetooth with the devices that were previously connected on my hotspot, and they paired flawlessly. The phone is working pretty well, although my networking bars jump up and down in areas that my LG K7 always had 5 bars. It's only when I turn on my hotspot, my phone acknowledging the hotspot is up and running, that everything goes down the drain. Not one device can locate my phones hotspot.
The one thing I did notice was that when I ran a system info app, is that it showed my mac and ip address but the SSID said <unknown SSID>
SOMEONE HELP ME PLEASE!!
GUYS....UHHH....YEAH. Found the problem. Somehow or another, I checked the box next to "Hide my device" in the Configure Hotspot setting. Sorry for any inconvenience my bruthaz.
On a different note, does anyone know if it's possible to edit our profile name? My smart self left out the "R" between the E and the Z on my profile name
I have a sprint galaxy S6 that I rooted years ago with the pingpong root. So its on the stock rom and never updated passed 5.0.2 I believe. I haven't done much with the root except enjoy the use of the hotspot that sprint tries so hard to deny users. However lately I've been having problems. The build in hotspot no longer works, and I suspect its some stealth update from sprint. It'll turn in without issues, but then I'll watch my mobile data disappear. The 4G blinks off, then it tries 3g, then nothing, then 4g, 3g, nothing, etc... Turn the hotspot off and everything returns to normal.
Fine. I'll download "Wifi Tether Router" and use that. However, every 5-15 mins my laptop loses connection and the hotspot won't show up in the list of networks despite it still running. What I suspect happening is my wifi is quickly turning on and off, disrupting the hotspot. Now, after getting the phone and going through all the settings, I turned off connection optimizer and unchecked the allow scanning. However every once in awhile while using the phone, if I happened to have the drop down menu down.. I'd notice the wifi quickly cycle on then off. It never affected anything I did so I left it be. Now when using the tether app, I rechecked all my settings, even turning off "keep wifi on while asleep" and checked the dev settings to make sure the wifi scanning/roaming was off. I am completely lost. Are there any settings I'm missing? Is there anything I can do with root to stop wifi from turning itself on without user interaction?
Or, is there any way to fix my built in hotspot? I have a new laptop and now have more use for this function.
Thanks guys.

Okay, so first of all, I'm not sure if this is the right forum. But this applies to a couple of forums.
For a while I used this little trick for activating my mobile hotspot on att g955u (the s8+) using the "connect to a faulty wifi and turn on mobile hotspot" and I would always ignore updating my phone from the OTA because I didn't want anything to change from the original stock bought phone. But a few days ago my phone decided to turn off and update itself. So I turned on dev options and the auto update was on. Turned it off problem solved. So I thought. At the time the mobile hotspot hadn't been affected but I woke up today turned my phone on and it automatically started updating again. But this time it had updated and changed something in my phone that has affected my ability to turn on my hotspot. And I've gone through and tried to figure out which service is affecting it but I can't seem to find anything new. And basically my question is, is there any way to get my phone back to the way it was when i originally bought it? Firmware, security, and everything that could have been changed with those two updates. Or is there another way to find out which services affect my hotspot so I can disable/enable accordingly. I used my mobile hotspot to play multiplayer on my ps4. Kind of pissed me off that my phone updates itself without consent.
