[India] Cost and time of repair? - HTC U11 Questions & Answers

So the phone fell down and the back is full of spider cracks(front no damage). My phone is still under warranty but I have unlocked the bootloader of my phone. So how much money do they take to replace the back of the phone and can it come under warranty? and within how many days will they give it back to us? Also is it possible to change the colour of the back (from silver to red)? Is there anyone who broke their phone and tried to replace it? Please then tell what had happened.

I don't think accidental damages are covered under warranty.

Ok but do you have any idea how much it might cost to replace it?

Sorry I have no idea. Difficult to take a guess. Best would be to call the service centre folks. They'll obviously stress on you bringing in the device but just ask them to give you a rough estimate.

Radioshack Extended Warranty

Hey guys, I'm in need of some advice regarding a Radioshack extended warranty that i bought for my Sensation. I just dropped my phone today and the screen now has a horrifying crack along the top, but fortunately my extended warranty covers any sort of physical damages. My phone, however, is S-off'ed, and i have CM7 installed, which obviously violates the original T-mobile warranty. I was wondering if you guys think I would have to revert back to S-ON in order to have it fixed under the Radioshack warranty? Does anyone know if they would check for that or if they would simply repair it, or even just order a new one? Any advise, especially from Radioshack employees/anyone who's dealt with their warranties would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
This is just my IMHO, but I don't think they are going to repair you phone, more like replace. And if they are replacing I'd just as soon expect them to replace the physical phone regardless if you voided the software/firmware warranty. But Radioshack could screw you over, and that wouldn't shock me either.
Thanks for the reply, and yeah, that's what I was thinking. Hopefully they don't screw me over though because I've been doing some reading and it seems that their extended warranty services have received very poor ratings.. Does anyone know if HTC or T-Mobile do repairs, and if so how much they might charge?

Power button might be busted

I just received a sensation practically brand new. The only problem is the power button no longer works. I tried looking around a bit but doesn't seem like there's any physical damage. The button still clicks normally but it just doesn't do anything. I got this from someone so warranty is out of the question. Is there anything I can do with this or is it pretty much trashed? :crying:
i think ...for warranty claims ..actual buyer is not required
you can say that ..you bought it second hand ...and can claim for warranty

Hmm, I always thought warranty doesn't transfer over. Let me give it a shot and see. I hate to see a good phone goes to waste like that

but see, they offer drop protection
if you drop it and the screen breaks, i cant see them denying it because its an unlocked device?
but yeah this is a good question
Well, as quoted from their Service Agreement Summary:
WHAT ISN'T COVERED:
There are 4 notable exclusions to your coverage. (Refer to the Service Agreement for a full list.)
Accidental Damage: Unless you purchase ADH coverage, we don’t cover items that are damaged accidentally. This includes water immersion, drops, and spills.
Cosmetic Damage: We don’t cover cosmetic damage that doesn't interfere with normal use of your item, like damage to cases.
Accessories and Buyer-Replaceable Parts: We don’t cover accessories or parts that are meant to be replaced by the buyer, like earpieces and ink cartridges.
Software: We don’t cover software issues, including for computers, phones, and tablets.

So I'd assume that if you hard bricked from an unlock attempt or something and they thought it was your doing, they wouldn't cover it.
My guess though is that they would overlook the unlock if you were sending it in because of manufacturing defect.
Just try not to let them know you're unlocked :silly:
The key is to withhold as much information from insurance companies as possible to ensure the highest chance of reimbursement!

hmmm so even if the stock OS somehow locked up(i.e. 500 apps or rogue apps) or got queezy to the point u couldnt use it,they wouldnt fix it?
if they dont do software problems, and drops only if u have the extra protection, and dont do cosmetics(scratches/scrapes), what does the warranty cover? Just broken power and volume buttons?

Their base coverage covers manufacturing faults that arise after purchase.
Screen adhesion, light bleed and button issues seem to be the most common with the Infinity.
I don't have a warranty with them so I don't know from experience what they do and don't cover or how much you can get away with. I'm just basing everything off what I'm reading on their site.
I would say that since devices with unlocked bootloaders are not specifically excluded, that they would definitely be covered, at least under the "accidental" coverage plan... I also read an article on Pulse some time back that they *do* cover devices with unlocked bootloaders, but they don't specifically advertise that.

[Q] Repair cost?

I do not yet know everything that will need replacing on my s3 or if it is worth repairing due to the damage. I have not yet taken the phone apart.
I can say for sure that I will need to replace the
Touchscreen
LCD
Battery cover
Case/Housing
From what I have seen of the damage I do not think the phone is worth trying to fix.
Do you have insurance or Not? If you have insurance its worth doing a claim otherwise, I would say its worth fixing.
Unfortunately no i don't have insurance on the phone, as I do not like sam's club policy.
I will add pictures when I find a working camera.

Screen damage

Hey people. My wife's 2 month old Honor 6x has been having a problem with the display on and off. We were planning to take it to the service centre and I just happened to drop it into the toilet bowl
Now I am wondering if the service guys blame it on the water damage. Any idea what could be done now? Has anyone gone through this ordeal? :crying:
no matter what, he will offcourse be blaming you on the water damage, he might not charge you, i think warenty got you backed up?

water damage just takes about the service charges, and service charges are covered within warranty, so, i think, yes
Rommco05 said:
I think no, u will probably pay from repair. If phone don't have any IP certification (water resistance) is waranty invalid... that's logic. So say true and wait for bill. But definitelly go to autorized service!! Because just he can open phone and your warranty will be continued after repair

they didn't charge me for a water damage of honor 5x, so there's high chance that they will not charge

I'm not saying that honor's services are great, but they didn't charge me for a water damage since I had no serious hardware damage or any malfunctions of any parts, it was just a service charge, so

Update
Got screen replaced at extra cost ₹6000/$90/€80.
Then there was touch sensitivity issue and random wierdness. Sent back for repair again.
Then the cell wouldn't switch on. Have given it for fixing (AGAIN!!! :crying: ). Warranty is void. The service guys says the problem will be henceforth persistent due to issue with motherboard.
Have only paid 2 EMIS till date and the warranty is Kaput. Just wanna sell this fellow off and buy another one.
Could anyone from Bangalore suggest where I could sell the phone for a decent price (hoping to get atleast ₹10k)??? He's only 2 months old sans warranty.
