Enable Visual Voicemail on AT&T? - HTC One A9

I have an unlocked HTC One A9 I'm running on AT&T. I just factory reset on Nougat and can no longer am able to install the AT&T Visual Voicemail application on this device. I'm also not seeing the default Android Visual Voicemail icon in the dialer. Is there any way to enable the default Android Visual Voicemail application with this combination? If so, can anyone suggest how this can be done?
Thanks,
Craig

The only way I was able to get it working on Nougat when I had AT&T was with the AT&T Visual Voicemail app available through unofficial channels (google).

OK. I had read the same, but was hoping for something more standard. I was able to get hold of the APK and get it installed. Thanks.

CM 10.2 need to access Verizon Visual Voicemail

I have just recently installed CM 10.2, finding it great, even like the google voice as the voicemail option.
The problem is I do not have access to saved voicemails that way and there are some I want to save.
What method will work for me getting Visual Voicemail on the phone, and if that is truly not an option
I want to "image/backup" the phone as it is, at which point I will put a stock rom on and then get my voicemails, but then flash back to how my phone is right now.
Is this possible?
Is there another method?
Thanks.

I've seen this question elsewhere and I am fairly certain that the answer was it's not possible. You can still access standard vmail by dialing *86. Should still have the option to save them, just no visual vmail.

Does anyone have a voicemail app?

I used to use Virgin Mobile with a Galaxy S5. It came with a handy visual voicemail app. Figured that since Virgin Mobile uses the Sprint network that Sprint would offer something similar.
Can't find any such app. Looked in the Sprint pre-installed folder and just alphabetically for either Sprint, visual or voicemail. Nothing.
Is my S8+ unique or did it get lost or overridden when using the Google set up a new device based on another device operation? I did notice a few old or inappropriate apps getting installed because they were on my other device.
Sprint does have a visual voicemail app that should come installed with your phone. On my Galaxy S8, it's a bright yellow icon that says Voicemail.

Here you go latest version
I used Bk uninstall to disable all the Sprint bloat and Installed Youmail. There is no other app for visual voicemail like it. You can set up individual Answer Messages fot each contact, you block callers, my favorite feature is to have the system tell unwanted callers that my number is disconnected, Or have Spockd Voice tske a message. And best of all is free. I even have it at my home line and the Messages left there go to my email.
My unlocked S8 came with no vvm app. Installing the apk linked above doesn't work (thanks for posting, though), as it appears that it does not integrate with the system. I also have the persistent VM icon after reboot.

I have the same issue with my unlocked S8, did you ever find a work around? I tried youmail but didnt like that it wasn't generic and used my contact names during the message.
Me and my husband just got unlocked Note 8's. We actually had YouMail before and it wouldn't work for either one of us and I chatted with the YouMail support person and they gave me different numbers to try and mind started working. But my husband still won't work and says something about ocn carrier error and he even tried the same numbers that work for me and they won't work for him on his phone it's weird.
We have Sprint and I have something in my notifications that will not go away that says 4 new voicemails dial *86 his doesn't have that. I just leave it cause I don't want to reset my phone but I'm thinking something backed up from my 7 Edge to make that appear in my notifications and won't go away. But I don't know why the numbers you mail gave me worked on my phone and not his.
What's another good free VM app? Thanks!

Visual Voicemail

Did anyone notice the visual voicemail on SM-G955U1 after the Oreo update? It doesn't work for me all I get is call voicemail button. Does anyone have a suggestion to get it to work.
Verizon phone running unlocked firmware

OP6 + Google Dialer = Vo VVM

Coming from a OP5T, using the Google Dialer with T-Mobile here in the US, my visual voice mail (VVM) worked as expected. However, on the OP6, I can not enable VVM. When I go to Settings -> Voicemail there is not option to turn VVM on/off as there is on my OP5T. Anyone else seeing this issue our know how to fix it? I can put SIM back in the OP5T and VVM will work on it....
I'm wondering if you're actually using the Google Dialer, because that's not what comes on the phone. I'm using the modded Google Dialer on T-Mobile and visual voicemail is working fine for me. I didn't have to change any settings other than change the default phone app to the modded Google Dialer.

I was using the Google Dialer from Magisk. Mind to point me to where you got your modded Google Dialer?

Can you check your settings on your Google Dialer? When I go to settings -> voicemail, I do not have an option to enable visual voicemail. see attached image.
My settings look like yours.
I'm not too familiar with VVM, but I assume you just mean the tab for voicemails with the play/pause/delete buttons for each voicemail? If so, that's working for me. If it's something more, then I'm not sure. My voicemail is empty right now so I can't show you what it looks like, but I had a few voicemails earlier and I deleted them from that tab. I can't send myself a test message until tomorrow when I have access to a second phone.
I just changed over to the Magisk version, since the modded version I had made the notification answer/decline buttons not work, so I wouldn't recommend it. But it can be found here.

I did notice that the voicemail tab wasn't there until I enabled phone permissions for Google Dialer app. But I'm guessing that's too obvious to be your problem.

Yeah, I am the one who originally made the Magisk version so it would work with OnePlus devices.... It's odd, my will not retrieve voicemails from T-Mobile but my OP5T would do just fine. For now, I just reverted to the google voice method and that is working. Odd.

So after testing today I'm leaving myself a few voicemails, neither the modded version of the dialer or the Magisk version seem to be showing the voicemails. I guess I might have seen them in the OnePlus dialer and that's where I deleted them. I can't be one hundred percent sure.
For now, I am just using the T-Mobile visual voicemail app.

Yeah, that is exactly what I see. It works on stock app, but not Google Dialer. I am using the Google Voice method, and it does the trick for now.

What is the Google voice method?
Sorry, not to change subject, but the Magisk version of the Google Dialer support the Spam call detection? Figured I'd ask since both of you seem to be running that version.
I was using the modded Google dialer as well on my OP6 and had no Visual Voicemail option, only with the stock dialer do I have any VVM option.

Is that the same thing I am doing -- I have Verizon set to NOT send my missed calls to voicemail, but to forward it to my Google Voice number. Then my Google Voice is set to immediate Do Not Disturb and goes to voicemail.
I did that because Verizon's stupid free voicemail doesn't transcribe the whole thing and they make you pay to have more than 20 voicemails in queue.

Verizon VVM not working.

So I just rooted, flashed TWRP, and Magisk. And in the stock dialer I dont have a VM tab and if I navigate to settings/Voicemail there is no switch to enable it. Any ideas/advice? Thanks.

Was VVM working before root?
A Post on Verizon forums said to call customer service and ask to provision the phone as a "CDMA-less" device to get voicemail working.
Other posts claim to get voicemail working by installing the carrier's visual voicemail app and uninstalling it, this is because the voicemail tab in the dialer disappears when a voicemail app is installed and reappears when its uninstalled. Although this is based on T-Mobile, not sure for Verizon.
Try clearing data on the phone app as well.
There's already several threads on visual voicemail not working on XDA, Oneplus forum, T-Mobile, and Verizon.
It seems like a carrier-sided issue and I wish carriers would just fix the systems to work with visual voicemail on unlocked phones and Android in general. There's no reason why we should have to use a clunky app that hasn't been updated in years when the phone supports it as is just fine.
VVM worked great on T-Mobile with my Nexus 5 running Lineage Android 7.0. Now it doesn't work on OnePlus.

Open up the settings in the dialer. There's a switch. Doesn't really work though. But you will get the tab

Isn't working on my 7 Pro but VVM is still working fine 100% of the time on my OP6 Though. So is the 7 Pro blacklisted since they are selling the 7 Pro!? I'm not sure if VVM works on the 6T but if it doesn't that may be the answer, T-Mobile (at least) is blacklisting phones if they have a carrier version of that phone.
I got the 7 Pro the day it was released. I unlocked the bootloader and rooted with Magisk. I am on Verizon and VVM has worked for me since day one.
Verizon vvm works for me I had to clear the storage and cache for the stock dialer and reboot in order to get it working the first time.
