Try Straight Talk, it's prepaid, $45/month unlimited calling, texting and data with a high speed limit of 5GB a month(2G speeds for the rest of the month after you reach the limit) or $55/month for a high speed limit of 10GB (2G for the rest of the month after reaching 10GB).
It's Verizon's network and speeds at half the price.

Is the Verizon plan truly unlimited? Is their a high speed(4G) data limit? Does Verizon throttle speeds after reaching that limit of 4G data? If so, it'll be about the same as Straight Talk's limit and still at half the price.

From what I've seen, you don't get as much data with a hot spot as you do a phone.

I wonder if I could buy a verizon prepaid phone and try to activate it with straight talk. Verizon has killer prices on the prepaid phones. I saw a 30 dollar moto G play at the dollar store yesterday no joke.
It might not work though.

When I asked Verizon about using it on their network they said I could but i had to buy 1 month of their prepaid before it unlocks which would be $30. Still a $60 dollar Moto G Play is STILL worth it.
With that said I heard one of two things. It either unlocks after you make your $30 payment or you have to pay $30 AND wait 30 days.
I mean I am tempted to try for that price but waiting 30 days would kinda suck.

Have you taken a look at Google's Project Fi? It uses multiple networks including your home WiFi and you only pay for the data that you use plus it syncs all devices that you have signed in with your Google account. Base price $20 a month for service plus whatever data you use, any extra you pay or data left over at the end of the month gets credited back to you.

I travel at hotels that is why I need this because bad hotel wifi so project fi won't work I did talk to a verizon rep and the plan is now $40 for the prepaid but she said I could unlock it tonight if I want to she will call me back at 10 pm, $80 for a Moto G4 Play (16gb) that's pretty good right? OR I could get the Samsung j1 for 10 bucks cheaper.

25% Discount for sprint service
I'm not sure if this was ever posted before but I have found a way to get a 25% discount off most Sprint plans.
A) sign up for an AIM Mail email account
https://new.aol.com/productsweb/?promocode=825960&ncid=txtlnkuswebr00000040
B) go to the corp discount page on the sprint site and enter your aim mail account as your business email address.
http://sprint.p.delivery.net/m/p/nxt/ais/wdyw.asp?id12=UHPCHP_Link_EmployeeDiscounts
Sprint will then send you an e-mail with a link to a private store that says you are a Time Warner employee and you get a 25% discount.
Plans with this discount cost less than on the current sero plans.
Remember to use coupon code save50 to get a $50 invoice credit on new service!
Thats it
let me know how it works out.
That's pretty sick if it works. I can get a EVP discount through my workplace and was told that they don't do discounts on the simply everything plans.

Im about to switch as my workplace offers a 15% discount. Interesting about the 50 dollar credit. Is that something I just haven't heard about? Is everyone eligible for that? And I assume you have to order online?
Currently on a free and clear 3000 minute concession line for $20 bucks a month (unlim data, text, etc), but considering doing this as I leave Best buy mobile in 2 months and most likely lose my amazing plan.

I'm ditching Verizon and going with the $30/mo plan. Actually, I plan on going $45/mo and getting an extra 150 minutes.
Yeah, it looks like I'm going to be ditching Verizon too and going with this plan. I don't use anywhere near the minutes to justify unlimited talk time and I'm tired of the crap they do. I'd rather put up with potentially worse coverage to go with a better deal. And if more people decide on that, then maybe the coverage will get better.

I started using this plan while on the Nexus 1. I'm using the Galaxy Nexus now and plan on moving to the N5 when it comes out. I love it, saves me TONS of money. No tax, no service fees, just a straight $30 a month.
Here is what I do with my Nexus 4 (soon to be Nexus 5).
Tmobile $30 plan (5GB 4g, unlimited texts and 100min/month) - I get refills on eBay/Craigslist for $27-$28, no tax.
I have VOIPO home phone service ($185 for 2 years), which allows SIP connections. I use CSipSimple on N4 to allow SIP calling over Wifi/data.
I save the 100 minutes for emergency
I was paying AT&T $110/month for 2 smartphones, now I pay $56/month to Tmobile, love it.
If anyone is interested in VOIPO let me know (free month of service to referral and referee)
Cheers

So my girlfriend works at Verizon and just told me that even if you buy a phone at full retail you can't keep unlimited data. I wanted to start a discussion of everyone's thought on this and if this will make you move to a different provider or if you will still stay. (I will post more when she tells me more information about this)
If this is true, I'm curious to see how they handle those of us who are still on contract with an UDP by way of the best buy trick. I'm personally under contract until 2016 with unlimited data.

This was a Corporate Verizon store, we dont deal with authorized agents cause 9 times out of 10 they'll do something that screws up your account. If it turns out they are doing this, you'll definitely see a lot of people jump ship cause a lot of them have stuck around because they had the unlimited plan.

Who likely heard it from another uninformed person. In the last four years I've read countless reports from numerous trusted sources that said "unlimited is going away" and it hasn't happened yet. I'm sure someday it will, but there's no sense in posts like these and people getting up in arms. Whenever it happens, all of us holding on to it will have to decide what to do at that point.
Can't see how they can take it away when buying a phone at full retail price doesn't affect your plan at all. You can walk in and buy the phone and never activate it at the store. If any thing the store workers are being told to do something underhanded. Next time I buy at full retail I won't have them activate the phone.

By your own admission it was a trick and thus not valid. The only ones legitimately still on contract are those that took advantage of a 1 day glitch on Verizon's website in Sept 2013 that allowed unlimited data users to upgrade. Verizon has said they would honor those contracts. They have never said they would honor contracts signed elsewhere. Everyone else on UDP their contracts ran out by June 27th 2014. Even the contracts people got with the glitch run out in a few months anyway. Read the terms. The terms are very clear, you could only keep UDP if you paid full price for a phone. Getting a discounted phone and signing a new contract is not full price. Thus you violated the terms thus the contact is null and void and Verizon doesn't have to honor it.

because they don't want people on unlimited data anymore. They don't want or need people using 500 GB a month. Mobile data isn't made to handle that. Maybe if people didn't have a cow over Verizon's "throttling" plan and Verizon was forced to scrap it they would have keep unlimited data around.

Let's not fool ourselves, people using inordinate amounts of data aren't the reason VZ wants to do away with unlimited data. There are plenty of other ways to deal with that. They want more $$. Data is a cash cow because very few users actually understand it. Minutes and Text are easy to keep track of, data is black magic to most people. Those of us who hang onto unlimited data actually understand the value of it. When that value goes away we'll all be re-evaluating our choice of carrier and plan. I know I can use 3 - 6 Gigabytes simply by streaming music while I'm in the car.

Mobile data can handle that. I point you to this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1757890
Second, Verizon was able to offer unlimited data for $30/month, then they got greedy and charging you $40 for 2 gigs of it(it use to be $50). I can burn through 2 gig/day on my home internet no problem. They can offer unlimited or a ungodly high gig without outrageous pricing, mobile should be the same way.
Verizon spent over 5 billion on the c block spectrum, now they are taking advantage of their customers charging them uncalled for prices for data.
Bottom line this is about MONEY not can the network handle it. I personally think they have several congested sites in my area b/c of my sometimes poor speed. The most data I ever used is about 13 gigs, i average under 4-5, and I hardly think any amounts I used are uncalled for.
Also, us unlimited users are not throttled that was discouraged by the FCC, and VZW backed down from it. ATT is involved in a lawsuit with the FCC over it and they continue to throttle until its settled.
They still offer Unlimited to their corporate accounts. If it was that big of a hassle, then they wouldn't offer it at all. I currently use VZW and ONLY do because I still have my unlimited plans. Once that changes, I'll be changing carriers.
Edit
I have a feeling UDP will be around for awhile. For the people who have them. Just don't get a discounted phone. You're good.
To be safe, just buy your phones outright! New contract = new terms of service, and yes they can do whatever they want. Buy your phones third party and keep unlimited data.
Just picked up the nexus 6 at full price. Unlimited data is still in tact.
For all of you that have unlimited data go check your bill. These chumps raised the cost of our unlimited data from $30.00 a month to $50.00 a month. This is ridiculous My wife and myself both have had unlimited data for the past 7 to 10 years with Verizon. This is the end. Time to start shopping networks!
They did it because they raised the value. We will never be throttled. All other carriers unlimited are not true unlimited. They throttle you after a gig or so to less than high-speed. It's about quality. You get what you pay for. All you will end up seeing is buffering if you watch anything on the throttled speed. Horrible time. Tried it without canceling and went back to vz glad I did
Verizon Wireless Technician using Tapatalk on Note 5
Only other carriers that offer unlimited data is t-mobile and sprint. Coverage on both are nowhere near as good as Verizon and they throttle your speeds if you go over a certain data limit. Extra $20 a month is worth unlimited unthrottled data.
It's about time they did. They should do away with it altogether so the majority of us don't have to suffer price hikes due to the few high and mighty tards that brag about using 100gb a month on their "unlimited" plan. We would have all still had unlimited if it weren't for a few entitled douchebags.

No, you wouldn't. That had nothing to do with capacity or network congestion. It was about commoditizing data and raising profits. Period.

I completely agree with you. My brother had sprint and unlimited for a long time and his LG G3 had very inconsistent LTE coverage. My girl friend has tmobile and a iphone 6s, she has unlimited everthing as well and her service was no where as good as big red, no matter where we went.
My hole thing is in a perfect world the people that have unlimited data have been loyal customers for Verizon for 5 to 10 plus years and you would appreciate them by letting them be. Not squeeze $20.00 more dollars out of them. Now I understand that we have an excellent coverage and network but take care of your customers that have had your back. Yes, have I been rooted and broke rules and taken advantage of them. But I've never used no 100gb of data. With my wife and myself we average about 10-16gb each phone a month. With 6 kids and 5 lines and 1 smart watch on a line, price is a lot as it is and now it's jacked up $40.00 more dollars just disappoints me. That's all. I probably won't switch based on your guys feedback but dam Verizon cut your loyal customers some slack....

Keep dreaming. I think Verizon would much prefer everyone with unlimited switch back on a metered plan or move to another carrier. And I think they are going to keep making it painful to encourage that.

They are allowing new phone payment plans for unlimited users with the price increase. They could have kept it where we had to pay full price up front. Entitlement generation.....
It's crazy that after a fixed price for 10 years you're outraged by a price increase. I can't think of anything that hasn't gone up in 10 years
The price only went up if you were not on contract. We have 3 unlimited data lines on our plan and we have all upgraded using loopholes. So we are all still under contract. We have 2 more years until the price hike will go into effect for us.
i believe they are allowing upgrades using Device payment plans in UDP now.
I'd gladly pay another $20 to get unlimited. I don't do a lot from home, but I could then hotspot and get rid of my home Internet. It would save me $40 per month.

I hate to be "that guy", but this was reported on back in September/October, plus it was on the VZW website if you had logged in in the past month or so, or it should have been on your last bill if you don't do paperless. This wasn't something that just hit us out of the blue.
I've also had two UDP lines for a long, long time, but this is still the best value for me, so I'll continue with VZW service. I do hope you find a service value that is acceptable to you! Good luck!
I just came from Unlimited data on tmobile. They never throttled me and i did around 150GB a month. Had to switch back to verizon because Tmobile's coverage sucks!

No, you wouldn't. That had nothing to do with capacity or network congestion. It was about commoditizing data and raising profits. Period.

Actually it does. We stopped because there were people using there plans to make money by using repeaters to a bunch of apartments. The amount of issues that was placing on towers was enough to ruin the experience for others in the area.

You should be greatful that they didn't force you out of it. They are letting you keep it because it's valuable if you don't think it's valuable enough for 20 more a month.... Still cheaper than buying a huge data plan then you can try another carrier lol

No, you stopped because you saw an opportunity to increase profit by limiting data. You can try and convince otherwise all you like, but I've dealt with Verizon long enough to know that nothing they claim is true. (Heck, I've called Verizon CS three times in a row asking the same question to three different CS reps, and gotten three totally different answers that were diametrically opposed)
People who were using it like you said were breaking the terms of your contract, and could be thrown off the network without penalizing everyone.
When I first got a smartphone, back in the WinMo days before iPhones, I could get one without a data plan. (Of course, dishonest Verizon made sure none of the ones that could be used had WiFi, so you couldn't get any data if you didn't use theirs. They also locked the GPS receiver out from any other application except VZNavigator - nice folks at Verizon)
Then, suddenly, you had to have a data plan, and it had to be unlimited. When I spoke to VZW reps about this, they lied to me and claimed a smartphone won't function without a data plan. When I pointed out that wasn't true, they tried to sell me on all the wonderful things I could with the data, like stream videos. I told them that, no, I couldn't really because Verizon's 3g network is dial-up slow, and videos buffer every three seconds. Didn't matter,I was told, if I wanted a smartphone on Verizon, I had to pony up the $30/month for data whether it was usable or not.
So, for the next couple of years, I paid the extra every month for data that did me almost no good.
Then, LTE came along. Lowell the liar told us that LTE wouldn't increase prices because it was cheaper for Verizon and held much more bandwidth. The facts were true, but the assertion that it wouldn't be pricier was BS.
But now, I finally had data speeds that, while still slower than most other carriers in the US, are fast enough that I can do the things Verizon told me I could do before but couldn't, like actually watch videos on my phone. And now that I can get the functionality I was always promised, Verizon wants to charge me more to use the device I paid full price for.
I never broke the terms of my contract. I didn't even tether. I tried to keep my usage reasonable, using WiFi whenever possible. But now that VZW has decided to increase my cost, I will increase my usage. I'm aiming for at least 100gb per month. I stream Netflix as much as possible. I stay off WiFi whenever possible.

True. Most did get thrown. LTE is cheaper. The company can use LTE to make speeds and bandwidth more available. The price i paid for service is around the same price 7 years ago as it is for me today. I say around obv because things will go up a little it's how things work over the years but it never went up because of LTE xD. Obviously things change. Verizon has been changing every year to make profit and to make their customers happy. You spoke with some CS reps? ok.....so out of everything you spoke to some people at a computer all day? You act like they are the worst company there is....lol with the best service and the most to offer it doesn't ever come to you that they cant please everyone? Its the biggest network company in the US...sorry you have those beliefs but they are skewed.
Still cant get over people saying they was 4-5 devices with tons of data and a tablet for less than 100 a month happens all the time.... In all companies prices increase. You are being charged for service not your "device you paid for in full"
I also use around 100Gb....that what they gave it to you for. To use it lol the issue was the people spending over 2 TB a month as an individual. I can't even imagine how much that would cost.

Worst company in the world? I don't know about that. Worst company in the US? Well, even then they're not as bad as Comcast. But they are inherently dishonest company. Don't pee on my leg and tell me it's raining. Likewise don't tell me you're increasing prices because of network congestion, or some other silly, made up reason.
If they want to raise prices, that's their choice. And then, as a consumer it's my choice whether to stay with them or move on to another carrier. And that's the way it should be. I just don't like the lying. I've dealt with Verizon on many occasions, and I've been lied to on many occasions.
If they would have just come out and said they were implementing the tiered plans because they want to make more money on it, I could have at least respected that. Same thing here. Don't tell me that you're increasing my costs for fairness, or to relieve congestion, or for any reason other than what it is - you want to increase your already ridiculous profits.

I have to agree here. They are arguably the most greedy company in the US. I have been with them for as long as I can remember and till this day I still have to scan every monthly statement and I still pick up erroneous charges. Small things, $2 here, $5 there. Sometimes up to $40 a month. My monthly statement has never been the same more than 3 months in a row and I don't do anything differently. The most recent stunt they tried to pull was after I downloaded go90 for a crappy 2 gig "free promo," they forced my line back into contract and I lost my $25 off contract discount. I raised holy hell at the verizon store and not only got it rectified but also got a date with the sales manager.

I have the LG X Charge that I got from Comcast on August 8. I wanted to root it but can find nothing on how to root it. I looked but found nothing that tells how to root it. I tried flashing SuperSu but couldn't find a custom recovery for this phone. While searching, I did find that this phone was released in Europe a few months ago where it's called X Power 2. Under settings / about phone / phone name it says LG-M322. Also under settings / about phone / software info it says the version of Android it's running is 7.0.
When I got the phone, I was surprised to see it wasn't loaded with crapware. Right now I mainly want to root it so I can do something about the restrictions placed on using the sd card.
Does anyone know if someone has found out how to root this phone? Is there a version of twrp or some other custom bootloader for it?
Thanks
I have been searching all over for root on the x charge and honestly I can't find one. This phone is pretty new and will take some time for a developer to take notice. As this phone is only available on Xfinity and one other company not many people use I would say it could take some time.
Has anyone tried this to unlock the bootloader? http://www.simnetworkunlockpin.com/unlock-bootloader-apk-code-generator/ wondering if it will work for our device. It says LG is supported but I have never heard of it before. If we can get the bootloader unlocked we could then worry about twrp and root would be easy after that.
Xfinity just started offering this phone for $1 (and you own it) for their free verizon talk/text plans. Its hit the 'hot deals' sites and people are ordering by the thousands...so I think its going to be pretty popular and available quite soon.
The other phones (galaxies and iphones) are being given $200 discounts as well.

You're right. My mistake. About the dispute whether the phone is $180 or $1. The $1 price is a special that runs out in September. At least that's what I found at xfinity.com/mobile
It really pisses me off that the companies that sell the phones have this idea that we are too stupid to be allowed to do what we want with our phones. We shouldn't have to fight with rooting our phones. But lots of things should be but aren't. Politicians should always be honest. Relative humidity should never be over 20%. Daytime highs in summer should never be over 80. You get the idea.

It's a very good phone i'm surprised it seems faster than my e4 with same sd425, but $180+tx is too much. We should demand bl unlock code. By force. It's the only way. verizon/moto and xm/lg.

But you get billed for 3 lines right away? Can't just keep them unactivated indefinitely? I ordered 2, refused one. XM says i have 2 lines. I won't get billed if they receive one. If i could keep this phone for $1 and never activate i'd get 3.
Thought I'd switch data off activate them and not be billed for anything but activation fees. And use Sims in note 5 and 2 note 4 . See if everthing works. And then sell each for 100. I was surprised to see it available this morning maybe and got impulsive thinking I had 30 days to cancel or keep it to my benefit. Maybe I'll cancel 2 and play around with one for myself. I have a note 4 with verizon and unlimited plan. But paying 230 after 25% employee discount and if I can get it down to under 150 would be great. Thanks for the heads up

@davekaz, even if you are not using mobile data, you will be charged (for each account) for taxes, FCC charges and other sh... stuff. For example, AT&T charges $8.24 extra per account (see list below):
Surcharges and Other Fees
3. Administrative Fee 0.76
4. Federal Universal Service Charge 2.45
5. Regulatory Cost Recovery Charge 1.25
Total Surcharges and Other Fees 4.46
Government Fees and Taxes
6. 9-1-1 Service Fee 1.00
7. MA State Sales Tax - Telecom 2.78
Total Government Fees and Taxes 3.78
So, be prepared to get billed $33/month for the four accounts And you can't sell these phones now, you should stay 24 month with 'em (read your contract properly!).
P.S. I've also bought one extra line (with free LG X charge - BTW, very good phone!) and I know how to recoup extra $8/month
After you've cancelled serviceWe're all about being fair. When you cancel your XFINITY Mobile service, you only pay for the data you've used between your last paid account statement and the date you cancelled. If you have more than one phone line, we'll charge you for the data you used on each line and reimburse you the difference based on your cancellation date.If you still owe a balance on your Device Payment Plan and you've cancelled service, you can either pay it off all at once or make the remaining monthly payments until the phone is all yours.

If you already received your phone you can request a price drop to the $0.04 they are offering. I just did this, the only downside is they claim it takes 30 days to start receiving the lower price. We shall see what my bill is next month.

Just wondering what restrictions to the SD card you are talking about. I haven't noticed any.
I just ordered another one. I was waiting to add my son until you could bring your own phone. I should be able to use the sim card in his phone and keep this one as a back up. It cost a whopping $2.96 after fees.
