I have the LG X Charge that I got from Comcast on August 8. I wanted to root it but can find nothing on how to root it. I looked but found nothing that tells how to root it. I tried flashing SuperSu but couldn't find a custom recovery for this phone. While searching, I did find that this phone was released in Europe a few months ago where it's called X Power 2. Under settings / about phone / phone name it says LG-M322. Also under settings / about phone / software info it says the version of Android it's running is 7.0.
When I got the phone, I was surprised to see it wasn't loaded with crapware. Right now I mainly want to root it so I can do something about the restrictions placed on using the sd card.
Does anyone know if someone has found out how to root this phone? Is there a version of twrp or some other custom bootloader for it?
Thanks
I have been searching all over for root on the x charge and honestly I can't find one. This phone is pretty new and will take some time for a developer to take notice. As this phone is only available on Xfinity and one other company not many people use I would say it could take some time.
Has anyone tried this to unlock the bootloader? http://www.simnetworkunlockpin.com/unlock-bootloader-apk-code-generator/ wondering if it will work for our device. It says LG is supported but I have never heard of it before. If we can get the bootloader unlocked we could then worry about twrp and root would be easy after that.
Xfinity just started offering this phone for $1 (and you own it) for their free verizon talk/text plans. Its hit the 'hot deals' sites and people are ordering by the thousands...so I think its going to be pretty popular and available quite soon.
The other phones (galaxies and iphones) are being given $200 discounts as well.

I was afraid it would take a while. i used to have a ZTE phone and had to wait 6 months after I got it before a root became available. I want to root this thing mainly to get around the restrictions Marshmalow puts on using the sd card.

You're right. My mistake. About the dispute whether the phone is $180 or $1. The $1 price is a special that runs out in September. At least that's what I found at xfinity.com/mobile
It really pisses me off that the companies that sell the phones have this idea that we are too stupid to be allowed to do what we want with our phones. We shouldn't have to fight with rooting our phones. But lots of things should be but aren't. Politicians should always be honest. Relative humidity should never be over 20%. Daytime highs in summer should never be over 80. You get the idea.

It's a very good phone i'm surprised it seems faster than my e4 with same sd425, but $180+tx is too much. We should demand bl unlock code. By force. It's the only way. verizon/moto and xm/lg.
Sorry to say. It's a dollar. They are out of stock. Just ordered 3 more for a dollar. After taxes I think it's 3 and you own phone outright

But you get billed for 3 lines right away? Can't just keep them unactivated indefinitely? I ordered 2, refused one. XM says i have 2 lines. I won't get billed if they receive one. If i could keep this phone for $1 and never activate i'd get 3.
Thought I'd switch data off activate them and not be billed for anything but activation fees. And use Sims in note 5 and 2 note 4 . See if everthing works. And then sell each for 100. I was surprised to see it available this morning maybe and got impulsive thinking I had 30 days to cancel or keep it to my benefit. Maybe I'll cancel 2 and play around with one for myself. I have a note 4 with verizon and unlimited plan. But paying 230 after 25% employee discount and if I can get it down to under 150 would be great. Thanks for the heads up

@davekaz, even if you are not using mobile data, you will be charged (for each account) for taxes, FCC charges and other sh... stuff. For example, AT&T charges $8.24 extra per account (see list below):
Surcharges and Other Fees
3. Administrative Fee 0.76
4. Federal Universal Service Charge 2.45
5. Regulatory Cost Recovery Charge 1.25
Total Surcharges and Other Fees 4.46
Government Fees and Taxes
6. 9-1-1 Service Fee 1.00
7. MA State Sales Tax - Telecom 2.78
Total Government Fees and Taxes 3.78
So, be prepared to get billed $33/month for the four accounts And you can't sell these phones now, you should stay 24 month with 'em (read your contract properly!).
P.S. I've also bought one extra line (with free LG X charge - BTW, very good phone!) and I know how to recoup extra $8/month
After you've cancelled serviceWe're all about being fair. When you cancel your XFINITY Mobile service, you only pay for the data you've used between your last paid account statement and the date you cancelled. If you have more than one phone line, we'll charge you for the data you used on each line and reimburse you the difference based on your cancellation date.If you still owe a balance on your Device Payment Plan and you've cancelled service, you can either pay it off all at once or make the remaining monthly payments until the phone is all yours.

If you already received your phone you can request a price drop to the $0.04 they are offering. I just did this, the only downside is they claim it takes 30 days to start receiving the lower price. We shall see what my bill is next month.

Just wondering what restrictions to the SD card you are talking about. I haven't noticed any.
I just ordered another one. I was waiting to add my son until you could bring your own phone. I should be able to use the sim card in his phone and keep this one as a back up. It cost a whopping $2.96 after fees.

I guess no root possible ever for this phone? Does it have enough GSM bands to be useful for tmobile/att?

Did you take it mean you have to get a separate data plan just for it. The online chat folks says you have to have a data plan just for it.
It really is not an offer at all if that is the case. At least how it is being represented.
Yes you need a data plan for it unless you add it to a share a share plan, then you'd just pay the access charge.

The $200 is for in store credit or can be applied as a bill credit.
Yes the early upgrade is after 12 months. Usually it's an extra $10 a month for it but they have a promo that includes the early upgrade option free if you buy the note 5 or edge plus. I think that is going on until September, I can't remember the exact date since they announced right before I left work today.

I'm not 100% sure on that. When I get to work later today I'll check and get back to you.
Edit: the $200 credit is through Samsung also so you wouldn't be able to put it on the phone if you bought it outright. If you lease or do easy pay you could use that $200 on each months bill to cover the price of the phone.

I thought about getting the tablet but it's kinda a mid range tablet... Just barely over 720p display. Would be better if they offered a higher end tablet.
i sure as hell won't spend $240 for a cheap old near-end-of-life tablet. i turned that offer down.

So awesome. Thanks, looks like I'll be picking one up today.
Tabs 4
Not a bad tablet over all. Plan only costs $15 a month or you get a $10 service credit when buying a tablet through easy pay. Either way, you don't pay monthly on the tab, or taxes, just the plan. You pay $15 easy on a meal a day. Use the tab for Excel, or Word or side sync, in conjunction with the unlocked WiFi hotspot, becomes very useful.
I also work for said carrier. ?
They offer me a "free tab" everytime. I say sure without a plan. Needless to say I still have my tab 3 wifi
Lol
Hmm I got the tab 4 but I have one free gig a month for a year and no additional plan, also my note is hotspot modded. Yeah its kinda slow compared to our beast mode phone. I rooted mine with kingroot then used super sume to remove kingroot. According to them, it's constantly sending info to KR in China about what apps you grant or deny permissions....supposedly. They use it to determine which apps are safe vs dangerous I guess? On my n3 I just granted global allow to all apps.
Not sure what I'm gonna do with it.
Set it up for easily mounting in a car to use as navigation/ movie music player? They've got this slick little magnets that you 3m to the back of the phone and on your dash/mounting location. I wouldn't use them on my phone because the magnet does stick out. I would be okay with buying a case for the tab, cutting a hole in it for the magnet to off set its size.
I ended up going for it. Leased my Note 5, got the free Tab 4. My kids use it for light school work on the way home (they have an hour drive, go to school in my wife's district), and since my son's LG G3 has Hotspot, they only use the data when daddy lets them. Works perfectly, rooted and on a custom debloated rom.

So I'm debating whether or not to pick up an S6. I'm not tied down by any contracts or anything, so I'm free to choose my carrier. Both carriers have pretty decent reception around where I live, so reception is also a non-issue.
I know that T-Mobile variants are generally easier to root and have a lot less bloatware on them, however I've been with AT&T for a while. Which one do you guys think I should pick up?

Thanks for the input. I think I'll be going the T-Mobile route because I want to be able to root my phone. Also because AT&T got rid of their 3gb data plan option.
I have seen a lot of note 5 phones for sale at great prices..some of them sealed boxes. Should I be concerned buying one of these units from a swappa site. I was told some units may be bought on installment plan and I should beware. Also that tmobile will not activate a phone bought from 3rd party unless you have a receipt showing it was paid in full. I dont want to get scammed. any input would be greatly appreciated.
Make sure you check IMEIs with t-mobile. You can get 3rd party phones, like I said just make sure to check the info with tmo and check it's paid off
Agreed with the 2nd post. If you are buying the phone from somebody and can meet somewhere, make sure it's a t mobile store to verify everything is kosher.
Swappa wont allow ppl to sell phones on the financing plans. They check the IMEIs prior to approving a persons listing.

You can pre order it from Best buy and have it picked up in store it saves you on shipping. You will not get any of the deals like 100$ off because you are not activating a at&t line, upgrade, etc. Also just curious what does it matter being unlocked for cricket? Does the carrier read cricket instead of at&t or something when you see the provider if you unlock it? I am getting the at&t version to outright but didn't know if unlocking the phone did something or not.

Try Straight Talk, it's prepaid, $45/month unlimited calling, texting and data with a high speed limit of 5GB a month(2G speeds for the rest of the month after you reach the limit) or $55/month for a high speed limit of 10GB (2G for the rest of the month after reaching 10GB).
It's Verizon's network and speeds at half the price.

Will your gaming use more than 5 or 10 GB a month?

Is the Verizon plan truly unlimited? Is their a high speed(4G) data limit? Does Verizon throttle speeds after reaching that limit of 4G data? If so, it'll be about the same as Straight Talk's limit and still at half the price.

I wonder if I can buy one of those jetpacks and use it as a hotspot or if I have to use my phone.

From what I've seen, you don't get as much data with a hot spot as you do a phone.

I wonder if I could buy a verizon prepaid phone and try to activate it with straight talk. Verizon has killer prices on the prepaid phones. I saw a 30 dollar moto G play at the dollar store yesterday no joke.
It might not work though.

If the Verizon device can be unlocked it can be used on the Straight Talk BYOP plan.

When I asked Verizon about using it on their network they said I could but i had to buy 1 month of their prepaid before it unlocks which would be $30. Still a $60 dollar Moto G Play is STILL worth it.
With that said I heard one of two things. It either unlocks after you make your $30 payment or you have to pay $30 AND wait 30 days.
I mean I am tempted to try for that price but waiting 30 days would kinda suck.

Have you taken a look at Google's Project Fi? It uses multiple networks including your home WiFi and you only pay for the data that you use plus it syncs all devices that you have signed in with your Google account. Base price $20 a month for service plus whatever data you use, any extra you pay or data left over at the end of the month gets credited back to you.

I travel at hotels that is why I need this because bad hotel wifi so project fi won't work I did talk to a verizon rep and the plan is now $40 for the prepaid but she said I could unlock it tonight if I want to she will call me back at 10 pm, $80 for a Moto G4 Play (16gb) that's pretty good right? OR I could get the Samsung j1 for 10 bucks cheaper.
